Trust wallet update

I use this wallet with small amounts (less than 150 dollars), but today and before broadcast TX, a red notification appeared that I needed to update the wallet, so I went to Gooleplay and made sure that I updated the correct wallet and I was able to send without problems, but that update notification is still there (even it was lastest version)

I checked the Twitter account and did not find any tweet about the need to update the application. In the past, I was able to make transactions without having to download the latest version, so did I miss something?

I downloaded and installed the wallet app about six months ago as a trial. I have used it successfully a few times, but I never use it as a main wallet.
Now, after reading your topic, I opened the application and a window appeared from Google Play advising me to download the update (17 Mega), but it is not obligatory, as I can still use the application without downloading the update.
I didn't get any red notifications. Can you mention the source of that notification, whether it was from the Wallet application or from the Google Play Store? I find it strange that downloading the update is mandatory and no announcement is made.

@hugeblack, I have had that wallet for some time and I only used it a couple of times for some microtransactions, but now when I tried to open it, it automatically showed me that there was an update, which was not the case before. I can confirm that Google Play also shows me that there is an update for the wallet, so I conclude that the previous version of the Trust wallet may have received some kind of upgrade that informs users that there is an update.

Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to try to make a transaction, but after I exited the wallet and logged in again (several times), I didn't get the notification anymore. By the way, it shows me 7.3 as the last version.

I have a trust wallet but never use it I would like you to try is that go to settings then the application find the trust wallet and try to clear the cache.

If it didn't work and you have a full backup of your wallet you can uninstall the app and reinstall it again then restore your wallet. It should be work after if not then try to contact support submit a ticket here

It's 7.3 after I updated and checked Google Play and they show it's the latest update but the app still shows the update notification.

Some time ago a notification appeared that there were several android applications requesting updates, one of which was the Trust Wallet application.

And it was true that when I opened the android play store app, the Trust Wallet app did ask for another update, but I didn't do it because I hadn't used it for a long time to make transactions even though the Trust wallet app was still on android.

The app works fine after the update but the notification is still there.
Also, the restriction that the transaction cannot be performed until after an update makes me suspect that something happened to that wallet.

Hopefully nothing happens to the Trust Wallet wallet because it is very unfortunate for those who store assets in the wallet. If such suspicions arise, it would be nice if anyone reading this thread could immediately send assets to another wallet.

I have the latest update before this last one, when I saw this post I checked my Trustwallet and no notification to update, I went to google playstore and I saw an update. I use to update all my apps immediately google notifies me, I did not update two days ago. I manually updated the app now but it was good before. Maybe it has been long that you updated the app.

I am also part of the Trust Wallet user and still make small transactions with it, but in the past few weeks haven't made any transactions, from several discussions that have taken place here I tried to open and find out the latest version, but until now 7.3 is the latest version that I found.

In the past, I was able to make transactions without having to download the latest version, so did I miss something?

My question is, is there a problem or failed to make a transaction after downloading the latest version?

No, it worked fine, the notification is still there but this time only in USDT 
I will deleting it and using an alternative wallet as soon as I find a better alternative.

If it is still functioning well, then for short -term trading it can still be used and no need to worry anymore right? Let's just say the notification is a reminder for the next update
 
If you want to get another better alternative, using bluewallet and Electrum for Android or Desktop is the right choice, as what has been recommended by some people in forum. At least for the security of asset that we have are guaranteed and do not need to worry if something happens.

Bluewallet and Electrum are just Bitcoin wallets, they are not usable to store altcoins and NFT as Trustwallet, so I don't think it will satisfy OP needs. I know many people don't like Trustwallet very much here because it's not fully open source but unfortunately I don't know another wallet accepting such amount of different cryptocurrencies and being so widely used and reputed. So if you don't want to leave your cryptos on custodial platforms, there is not many alternatives unfortunately.

If it was a TRC20 transaction, it's due to an upgrade of the Tron network.

That's right. Blue Wallet and Electrum are only wallets that can store Bitcoin and cannot store altcoins including NFTs.

There is one wallet that is similar to Trust Wallet, Stack Wallet.
Not only can you store Bitcoin, Stack Wallet can also store other coins or tokens such as Dogecoin, Litecoin, Monero and others.

So far I have never used Stack Wallet, since the topic Stack wallet for mobile? created by dkbit98, then I tried to learn it.

They are hardware wallets while OP is looking for an alternative to a (free) mobile wallet, so I don't think it would be an usable choice for him unfortunately, because it's not the same thing. In addition Trezor doesn't seem to be able to manage NFTs on its own. You need to use Metamask with it for that purpose https://blog.trezor.io/how-to-use-nfts-with-a-hardware-wallet-9b4308397ea7
On top of that some people don't like very much hardware wallets because you need to give your physical address when you purchase them online, while Ledger's customers database had already been hacked and leaked online 2 years ago. They are also not very solid and you need to buy another device when they break down.

I made this Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} free, open-source, focus on privacy multi-coins wallet. They have an Android version, some user experiences weren't as positive, but it's open source, so it might be safer than Trust Wallet.

There were some updates in Tron due to high fees so the issue may be related to that blockchain and not the wallet.

I have difficulty trusting any wallet with a multiblockchain wallet after my experience with blockchain.info. They are unlikely to give full custody to people's wallets and if you aren't a regular visitor, you may lose access to it due to regular updates. I can't trust the Google Play Store to provide a safe wallet for my funds every time because of their inability to find out about every application listed on it.

It looks like you are updated on what is happening in the trust wallet because you also keep the assets you have here in these apps.

I'm the only one who hasn't updated using trust wallet now because I haven't used these apps for over 2 years. But anyway, it looks like I need to update my account here on these wallet apps anyway. Because it already has a trust wallet extension in chrome and it looks okay then.

Since you installed the correct genuine trust wallet at the first place, if the app prompt for an update, it will be genuine too. That's my understanding as a genuine app can't send a notification to update and overwrite with a scam app.

Whenever there is an update to an app, we should update it on first priority because sometimes there are some vulnerabilities bug fixes which are included in the newer version of the app. Using the trust wallet without update for 2 years is not a good thing in my point of view.

I somewhat agree with what you said, of course, 2 years is also a long time for a house if we don't clean it for 2 years, what will it look like in
 2 years? for sure it doesn't look like a house anymore, because of the amount of dirt that has been accumulated here, that's what you mean.

       In addition to that, I also think that we need to always monitor any possible changes that will be made in such things as new updates to trust wallet.

Does this 'problem' still exist? I've been opening my Trust Wallet in the past few weeks but never got any notification. That being said, I've always updated it whenever a new version is available. Probably gonna uninstall it soon since I no longer find it useful.

That's usually the case, but there is no harm in checking their social media or support if we never get any notification of a new behavior beforehand. Not to mention Android is generally not that safe with fake apps. God knows what new exploits are being used to inject an in-app notif with malicious code even if you download it from Play Store. Especially crypto apps that have been targeted many times by scammers.

AFAIK your phone will automatically download the latest update unless you turn it off or make an exception. So, if you never open your app for years, maybe you should uninstall it. You no longer use it anyway.
