Early bitcoin investment for my baby

First I congratulate you for the safe delivery my wife whom have gone through that part also had same experience and it wasn't easy for her as well, God so kindly last month we also hard our baby girl. I imagine all the stress during your time of pregnancy and the prayers then was just for safe delivery.
The decision you've took is absolutely the right one and I will advise you to always read around the forum to be up and doing with the latest update concerning wallets, from your post you intend holding for about 18 years so have to be very active on the form of wallet to store your baby's investment.

Few days back, I came across a post encouraging people to use the money well wishers gives to newly born babies and mothers as a gift  to invest in bitcoin for the baby,  then I was pregnant, just delivered 3rd of march. My baby and I has made up to $50 if converted just 10days after giving birth.  I am definitely going to use the money to invest in bitcoin this year for my baby so that in the next 18 years my baby will be proud of the decision I took for him.

Im so glad I discovered this platform this year, I believe I am going to achieve a lot from this forum

Wonderful initiative you have done here but one thing that is  certain you have understand is that bitcoin is a volatile currency and since its a plan for holding the btc for a long  term is even better because maybe by the time your baby grows up he might have gotten enough save for him by his mum but I will also advice to move the coins to a non custodial wallets since no can predict the future events that might happened to other exchange platform and you wouldn't want to be a victim of what has happened to many people saving their coins elsewhere.

Nice advice bro but I think this kind of investment is actually locked away because it cannot be the only means of taking care of her baby as the investment is just made to store and not to touch in any circumstance because she will surely have other means of taking care of the actual basic needs of the baby and not selling the save coins because of the situation of the needs of the baby. I think this investment is just an alternative something like a fixed deposit with potentially massive interest in the future because am very sure bitcoin will gain more value before the proposed date of using this investment. But one thing am just I would just advice is that the investment should be sold before the actual 18years plan if the value actually goes up significantly.

Since your goal is to hold thinking on long term results (18 years from now), you should think about storing your coins safely on your own hands. That is, to not rely on any third party online platforms to keep your coins stored. You need a hardware wallet and to control your own keys.

Without doing this, I guess it's suicide to hold for so long while trusting all your money to someone else, as we saw previously during the whole year of 2022 with so many big scams happening around and investors losing all their money, including retirements from decades.

Apart from that, OP is also obliged to consider having heirs for his assets or bitcoins because no one ever knows how long they will live.
He says the time frame is 18 years, so of course this suggestion would be good suggestion for him to think about even though he knows back up wallet is mandatory. I think this is so prudent of you, though it is something that is really expected of responsible parents. If you will, I really suggest investing on a 401k for your baby as well. It compounds consistently and by the time your baby has retired, they are already set for life and they can even pass the wealth down to their kids if they ever decide to bear kids, apart from this teach them how to manage money from a very young age as well. It always helps to actually teach them young rather than bide time and wait just because "it's gonna go across their heads anyway". Teach them young and have them become financially literate and ready, that's one of the best things you can impart to them besides being a really great parent.

I see you really believe in bitcoin. For me, Buying bitcoin for a new born baby is a good idea. Most people don't know this. Although there are a lot of risk. But i dont think there is a long term risk if the baby will still have access to the bitcoin. Im also gonna make mh kid understand almost everything about bitcoin. But of course, you shouldn't really be putting your outmost trust and confidence on it.As long you arent putting that much or going all in or put all of your savings on Bitcoin form then it should be fine.
It is always been that important that we should really reconsiderate about the risks that being involved when dealing up with crypto.We cant really 100% assure that everything goes
well and fine on upcoming years or future to come.

Try to keep adding to the money you have converted to bitcoin. We all know that in 18 years bitcoin will be worth a lot more than it is now. You are doing the right thing, well done.

I just wish more people did that for themselves as well. We all know that if you have a baby and start putting in money into bitcoin until they are 18, by the time they are 18 that money will worth a ton of value and you would have a very rich kid, you would be doing something amazing for the kid and you need to never cash that out of course, and there is a goal, 18 years old, when they are a grown up basically and can run on their own feet.

However, when it comes to saving money for 18 years just for yourself, for your retirement and old age, not many people do it and I do not have any clue why they do not do it. I think they should be able to do that as well and they are missing a chance.

Honestly, it's a good idea, and I've seen many people do this. But the thing is, it's a very long period of time, and during that time, we will be very easily tempted by the price of bitcoin or will panic when bitcoin plunges every time bear season comes. Accumulating bitcoin during the bear season and selling during the bull season, a period of only 3 to 4 years that many people have not done, 18 years is indeed a much more arduous journey.

I love this idea and will talk to my wife about saving bitcoins for my 2 kids. But what worries me, as I said, is it's too hard to hold on for long, it's really too hard.

Of course your initiative is very nice. But you need to see if the money you invest in Bitcoin is the money you need. Because you have said that you will keep your invested money until your child turns 18. I don't know if that will be possible, I don't even know if you have the patience to hold on for so long. But if you are investing your nessesary money there, I would say you are wrong.Because taking care of your baby is more important now than 18 years from now. Saving is a good habit that should be highly encouraged that is why I am happy that a mother is considering the future of her child. Most mothers like spending on clothing and other things but OP is just exceptional.

Her investment lifespan is eighteen years and as bitcoiners, we believe that the price would have increased to a substantial amount. But it is also important to inform the OP that Bitcoin is unpredictable so that she wouldn't be disappointed if the price doesn't get to the price she expects. I am also encouraging Op to still buy more bitcoin for her child through small personal savings, $50 is a good start but adding more might bring greater profitability. Congratulations.

If you are going to hodl for next 18 years then damn consider your kid as rich amongst his teen friends at the time. That’s gonna be blessings for your child for sure. However, please note that you should be very alert while hodling considering it’s huge Timeline  up ahead. Usually pees get fade up with the hodling due to circumstances such as high prices where greed wakes up while on the other than when bitcoin drops a lot then it’s about loosing fiat valuation thus making it uncomfortable while hodling.
