Which Game do you think is a Game of Chance or a Game of Skill?

I was recently browsing the internet on a topic as to why cryptocurrency gambling games are so addictive. This topic is not only about online crypto gambling please do remember this before replying.

While going through multiple websites for my topic I found out that the online gambling industry has been growing rapidly. The growth has been significant as in 2021 the global online gambling industry size was recorded at $61.5 Billion, whereas it went up to $79.8 Billion in 2022. The rise as per my understanding is significant.

While going through different websites I stumbled upon many websites which were about the top most played games in online casinos in 2021-2022. I have listed down the top 4 most played games below but my question is which one of these do you consider to be a game of skill or a game of chance?

There is much more to learn about Poker, which means it requires skills too, but that does not mean it is not also a game of luck. All are games of luck.

Gambling generally is luck, but we have to gamble responsibly because of house edge.

I think both of these two are given on the preferred types and the two other you mentioned are likely to be the same, which is baccarat for game of chance and game of skills for blackjack. To think luck was just a coincidence on game of skills, I think it's not, luck comes to those who mostly take the chances just to win.

If you consider Poker a game of skill then playing Blackjack should be one as well. It also requires basic strategies to beat the dealer even without the use of the now forbidden card counting. For sure there's luck involve in this but you do more analysis here than just rolling. I don't really know much about Baccarat but I think it's more of a luck-based game since the gambler has less control of the outcome or none at all.

Slots and Baccarat are games of luck/chance, you don't really need a skill in order to win. as for blackjack and poker, though you still need luck playing these games, the game heavily relies on your decisions, strategy, and knowledge of the game if you want the round to end in your favor.

Apart from card games everything is game if chance whereas in poker its combination of skill and luck while someone with extraordinary memory skills can do a strategy called counting cards its only possible with photographic memory and instant counting knowledge whereas its banned by offline casinos so anyone who found to be using counting cards strategy they will be banned from gambling again.

In general gambling is a matter of luck the one you should include is lottery cause one dollar ticket can win you a million dollars or more.

I can see why you favor the game of chance but we can agree to disagree on this. I choose the other side even if it's done online since the player still has more options available to him. He can choose to add one more card or just decide to settle. He could also split pairs when given the opportunity. Those kind of decision making involved in the game makes me think it's more of a game of skills.

1,2,3 is obvious based on pure luck, Black Jack though you can read the cards, but casinos will automatically ask you to leave if they suspected of you of card counting. Or putting a lot of card in the deck so that it will be hard for you to count the cards.

So Baccarat, there is no strategy, either Banker or Player, or Draw.

Poker, require skills, there's already a pro circuit in the US with millions of dollars as winning price.

I will answer by saying this that every game comes as a game of chance and skills but those who take the idea to work out their own strategy towards winning make a difference, which is more likely in every occasions whereby a gambler bet and never expected anything coming and eventually he wins while the time he expected it coming he never wins, that is time and chance, skills also matyers because of the method of administration to each bet being made is different as the games are different as well, some games will actually demand  that skills of yours you've got before winning.

Just as you have said op, I think poker requires a player skills while the others like Blackjack, slot,  Baccarat etcetera are games of luck.
But if you view of all them generally then you could also classify poker as a game of luck also because most times you don't get to know how good your opponent is, and all you have to depend on is your luck. Even the best poker player sometimes still losses a bet.
After all we are dealing with gambling here.

All type of gambling is a game of chance or else it is not gambling anymore. Poker is commonly categorized as game of skills because you can increase your chance of winning to optimum level if you have skills since you are up against other players and not the house but it doesn’t mean that it’s not a game of chance. There’s some point on the poker which you will rely purely on chances of hitting the right card to win so there’s no guarantee that you will win even if you have a skills unless you are playing with bunch of newbies that is scared on you.

I believe Blackjack can be categorized as game of skills too on some table that doesn’t have continuous shuffling deck because card count can increase your chance of winning like the poker scenario.

In conclusion, even if the game is heavily relying on skills to win. We can’t ignore the fact that you still need luck on side to win and this is when chances needs to be on your side.

Poker is a game that requires skill and courage as well as luck. I prefer to play this game because it's fun to be able to play against other people at the gambling table.

Poker is only good if you have the skills but it’s a terrible game if you don’t have any good skills to play this game properly. Only few gamblers play poker flawlessly and the rest is just giving money to the better player.

I’d rather play slots that purely rely on luck rather than poker which I don’t have any chance of winning. Atleast on slot I have a chance to hit huge win by just spinning without any effort to think on how to beat other players.

Online gambling is not addicting, and all depends on the personality, at all levels both online and offline one can control oneself. Why people visit more on online casino is because online gambling is easy and fast to enter because of the technology that is involved. You can use a device that is in hand to enter the site right away. While offline casino halls are some times are very far from the gambler and that doesn't mean that the gambler is not addicted. Just the distance that restricted him.

They're both kinds of used in the table/card games, luck gives you the cards you can use to play while skill decides whether or not to continue the play with the cards you got. You can technically wait till you get a good card in poker and play aggressively with that and that would make poker a game purely based on skill, but because of bluffing, where you have a weak hand and still play like a madman, it would involve a certain level of skill (based on decision making that is).

And slots are well, slots. I don't think there's anything to talk about it.

Games of skills are games where the determinant factor towards the final result will be skills, while at games of luck the determinant factor will be luck, despite the experience of the gambler on those games.

As I see, in every games mentioned (poker, slots, baccarat and blackjack), the determinant factor is luck, without any doubts, so all of them are games of luck.

On the other hand, if you bet with your friend you could beat him on a PVP match at any online video-game we could be talking about a game of skill, since the main factor driving your bet to the victory is your personal skills on that game in particular. If you are good on it, you will win. If you are bad, you will lose. And that can't be changed on long run.

Totally agree but luck still plays a factor in poker, even if you're good at poker and hiding your card, your opponent can still make a wild guess and become lucky to hit it, on slot and dice games you can employ some of the popular methods like martingale, you can win on one night but you cannot sustain your winnings with all the strategist employs.

If we can develop an effective method of gambling whether sports or luck-based, casinos cannot sustain their business, let us just accept the fact that casinos are entertainment portals, you will be disappointed if you treat them not.
