@Fivestar4everMVP, I saw full members just applying when they crossed 75 merits. For full members, 25 merits is a big amount. If they get this rank easily, then they will be discouraged from contributing to the forum. They should earn at least 90% merit before applying here. Above Full Member 25 is fine; that is in your current rules. That's the reason sometimes I ignore full members. I don't want to let them be lazy. I believe merit limits would be different for each rank.

My advice is below. 
To apply here, applicants should have below-average merits according to ranks.

To Members: 9 Merits
To Full Members: 90 Merits
To Sr. Members: 225 Merits
To Hero Members: 450 merits 
To Legendary: 900 Merits

It's just my advice; maybe some +/- would be fine.

Oh wow! You did make such suggestions! I didn’t catch sights of it neither will I blame the users who happened to have not followed through with your suggestion. I guess the more concerns here is, if it was adopted by the OP. That would have been a best move or approach towards handling this kind of situation and determine who gets to apply from who feels they should apply.

It’s a self moderated thread, anyone who faults the rules will be sure that, their post would be kicked out and could get themselves blacklisted with regards to this thread. Hence, if the OP adopts it, people will fall in line and the OP would do a lot more screening on what’s happening in the thread.

The OP indeed said, new rules could be added and I think it's time for some new rules update on the OP by Fivestar4everMVP. This sort of thread is one that is sure to last a longer time as you would always find users within that circle of near archivements needing some boost. When it's undefined or within a large range, they've got to leverage it for chances. The rules from the OP remains,

Ww had yet another user who spread this out quite clearly, which agrees and someworth conforms to most of what has been the case on the thread, as far as applications go.

New rules for countdown which should strictly followed...

Junior member merit (+1-9) CD to Member
Member merits(75-99) CD to full member
Full member (225-249) to Sr Member Countdown
Sr Member (475-499) to Hero member
Hero member (975-999) to Legendary

But One shouldn't countdown before Activity reached.

Don't know if the OP had other versions to the rules in the comments as I can't possibly be going over some 35pager document right now but, having that updated on the OP would be a best approach. In the absence of none, every other user could just make suggestions and it would be seen as such but, it could be actioned within their capacity as The Cryptovator has rightly pointed out and lived up to.

Rules are meant to be fair, to level the planes between all peoples and ranks. Having that in mind, if I were to make a pick between  the existing rules and the suggestion from The Cryptovator, I think the 90% requirement is a more fair rule than the 25 lacking flats as we have it in the OP.

Given that, the total accumulations for each ranks differs and doubles as you go up the later and so is the difficulty in climbing, it's only normal to put everything in a ratio or percentage. Hence, the 90% requirement or the 10% lack to the next rank would be a better approach to equate all ranks.

Have in the OP and it seals the OP.

* Don't take it too personal for repeated posting, it's been hours inbetween and am using this to bump the thread for observation and responses. I hope the Fivestar4everMVP is been observant of the on going discussion.

The OP can tweak the rules as he sees fit, however, the rules need to be strict enough as to not encourage flat out begging or farming.

IMO this thread was meant to be a place where users were really close to the next rank and could ask for a little bump. It was not meant to be a thread where shitposters come to rank up their accounts so they can earn more money.

Ultimately managers decide whether or not to hire shitposters(some might give a shitposter a chance to see if they change, but they usually don't), but users should have to do most of the work themselves and show that they have put the effort it.

As you all see, I have refrained from helping in this thread for awhile now as it feels like we are just ranking up farms at this point. Soon as they hit the 25 threshold they are posting.

Great advice and I think I should be on the consideration list and it’s not always easy earning this merits and with this I think I will have to drop my application and since I didn’t go through the entire thread, please pardon me if I’m missing out of the discussion.

This is still only a proposal and there was no significant discussion about it, I suppose that the OP should express his views more directly about it. Or the silence is a sign that he does not want to discuss it further. Everything is still based on goodwill and this initiative should not be seen as a kind of charity.

Yeah it’s actually based on goodwill and no one is entitled to any merit(s) on the thread and I think since the merit sending isn’t limited to just the op alone, then I think anyone who wants to help another member can decide to do so regardless of how many merits is left of the user and I also agree with you that, as the rank goes higher, then the merit requirement should be reduced and number of merits should be considered.

Regarding the above bolded context.

Inasmuch as there's actually sense in what the poster said, first we need to be reminded that someone placing an application here doesn't really guarantee that they'll get the desired merits to rank up HERE, it's more of a 50/50 thing.

And then again, if someone has been able to earn up to 75 merits on his own, why should he feel lazy because he got help receiving 25 more merits ( from his merit worthy posts). Most of the applications here didn't get all their desired merits to rank up HERE. besides, the whole idea of this exercise isn't just about earning free merits to rank up I believe, it's more about making other to take a look at your posts, access them and merit whichever one they feel is worthy.

Again, getting to the next rank isn't supposed to be the final destination for a user, but a starting point to aim for greater height (next rank) Hence I see no reason why getting to the next rank would make them feel reluctant or stop contributing to the forum as they've been previously doing.
This is just my honest opinion on this, and I'm not saying this simply because I'm close to 75 merits as many would think, no, that's not it at all, because whether or not I send in an application here, I know fully well that I'll be able to earn the required number of merits for my rank up to FM rank.
