I will not blame it on the newbies but blame it on old members because you know how this forum works. If someone post about the little amount of merit needed to rank up, as an old member, you do not need to merit what he posted but just go throughout his topics and posts history and check for posts that are worth giving merit. If he is qualified, you can merit the person's quality posts and also merit what he posted here if you feel like. For those that are not worth it, do not merit the their posts.

It is good to know that some people will abuse this and use alt to also apply which is very bad. If you know their alt and they are spamming, tag them and their alts. I think anyone that is posting good will continue to earn merit even if they do not post on his thread. This is what these people do not know. If I were them, I will not bother to apply because I know I will earn far more than the merits needed for the next rank.

I think there are genuine people here too but I'm starting to really think, seeing for example what happened with the pizza voting, that there are some important alt-account farms

I would like to bring attentions those who are helping to grow our forum member's. You guys can easily track user lacking 20 or less 20 merits from here - https://bitcointalk-dashboard.vercel.app/

It's update auto in every 24h . If it's convenient for all to make it 25 merits like the application on this topic , I can then tweak a bit. Also it's eliminates them after ranking up to Recently promoted page.

You all need to be more relaxed when it comes to merit. A few days sooner or later for a rank upgrade is not too big a deal. Understandably, rank progress is important to you, but if you, for example, earn 230 merit, you will certainly not have a problem with the remaining 20 until the next rank, even without this thread helping.
I mentioned earlier that this thread lost some weight, as it mostly turned into a begging for merit, which certainly discouraged some old members from participating with sMerit here. One gets the impression that all participants in this thread consider it their duty to set their count here when they reach -25 merit.

Thanks for the enlightened me , I didn't visit this topic for a long time. But still I saw some folks are keeping this thread active. Since it’s in the Reputation board, I doubt it’s that worthless. I thought of building the tools so that if anyone want to contribute they wouldn't have to findout this topic and go through the participant. Instead we can find them in more convenient way.

This is absolutely right, i remember the previous thread became a merits begging/fishing thread with no rules and we advised the ops to lock that old thread and open this self moderated one with some basic rules.

But as time progreses it seem this one is sliding into the same direction as the old thread, since we have seen zero moderation from the ops, this thread need more moderations i will pm the ops to see that the thread get some clean up.
