Myself introduced gambling to my girlfriend, and she started to gamble regularly. Bets doesn't go higher than $1 and initially she enjoyed it as she didn't experience loss. Later started to loss, and requests me to recover her loss for her. I used to recover playing with bigger bets and one day lost big. On your list, I consider this one because I have seen one personally from an acquaintance, the guy has a good business but is always prone to spending he doesn't care about money because he has a continuous flow of money, once gambling was introduced to this guy he was challenged to make gambling as another source of income not knowing the odds and the house edge.

Don't know whether the environment will influence someone to be involved in gambling, the problem is that no one is really involved in gambling if they don't have access to it. Gambling is the same as a teenager's hobby for games which makes them addicted and in my opinion nothing can limit it, even though implicitly it doesn't introduce gambling to anyone.

Indeed there are people who are making a living out of gambling industry but it should not be a considered reason for people to consider it as another source of income because there's no certainty of winning. It is based on one's luck basically. Pattern on the usual is, perhaps winning continuously for 7 days straight, then losing for 2 weeks straight subconsciously.
