not exactly altcoin season since only select altcoins are rising but it might be signs of altcoin season, as you said the overall condition of the cryptocurrency in general has been improving compared last year, I do agree that if this continue bullrun will inevitably comes and soon altcoins will also follow.

Usually the second quarter is altcoin season. Currently I have invested in several new altcoins with development in 2021 and 2022. I think the end of the year is the heyday of any good altcoin. Still it’s good time to buy and hold promising coins for the next bull season. I picked a several old coins and some new entered coins in the market, yeah hopefully those will be good increase.

We all want the altcoins that we choose to increase and hence the hope for a altcoin season to start. However this is long from reality because nobody can predict these things from beforehand and we can only wait and watch. Specific altcoins going up might be due to news pertaining to that project only while overall market price rise will be due to bigger positive news that makes bitcoin rise first followed by altcoins.

Season or no season, your approach here should be to accumulate bitcoin as much as possible and whenever possible, altcoins only as a smaller part of the portfolio not as an alternative to bitcoin because of its high price/btc.

Even if one has to choose altcoin it should be from a newly project that you buy from their presale then target when they want to list on trusted exchange immediately you can sell and make your savings, because altcoin are not to be putting more trust but if you have to peaceful and have a free mind without having the fear to lose your investment then choose bitcoin.

altcoins are always accustomed to following the movements of bitcoin, if bitcoin improves it is certain that altcoins will also improve but not vice versa. indeed, from the beginning of the year there was an increase from bitcoin but it was not seen and it is certain that it will improve soon, it could be that the increase was just a mere surprise. but I agree that this is the right time to buy and hold, because the halving period is only waiting for the next few months and is usually accompanied by movements for improvement. it is very appropriate to still want to hold old coins which are indeed very potential compared to new coins that have not been tested for the future.

I can't predict the future but if XRP gets regulatory clarity, it should see a pump. And when crypto regulations come out in the US, it should pump compliant chains like XLM, 0xMR, and Q Blockchain.

Though the proverb is correct but they all suffer from the same problem, they are correct only partially and not absolutely. Trading altcoins is one place where you want to tread carefully, because this is a wild west without regulations and scammers and shitcoins everywhere. If you are keeping yourself limited to top coins which you will not once the "season" starts you will lose more than you can afford, not like the fish.

I think open season or closed season, keeping the choice limited to top coins yields the maximum for long term traders. Go test the waters with newly launched hyped coins - most of the traders will not manage to make anything, its a gamble.

I don't agree that it can't be the other way around. Such cases occur when there is a liquidity spillover from bitcoin to altcoins. Altcoins go up and bitcoin goes down. This often happens after bitcoin rises a lot, after which it goes into a correction, the price drops precipitously, and altcoins start to rise strongly all of a sudden. Not the whole industry, but some part of it definitely performs such maneuvers, for example, ETH very often gets detached from the correlation with bitcoin and can grow great while bitcoin shows price decrease.

being high ranked doesn't mean it will be high ranked forever. there are some cases that seemed to show that these high ranked coin just doesn't have the capability to climb back up again because
it was quite literally being abandoned by anyone who wanna invests.
people just prefer investing in newer coins that still have relatively low market capitalisation that just have better potential with disregarding all these formerly high rank coin so couldn't really determine the upcoming
altcoin season based on these high ranked coin, after all there's always change of position.
