in what ways can blockchain technology improve the security, privacy, and transparency of electronic voting systems,
and what are the potential technical and legal and social challenges and limitations of implementing such a system on a large scale ?
is that type of voting tested or implemented anywhere?

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

OP, blockchain is a digital ledger and since the  technology draws its power from the peers—or nodes—on its network to verify, process, and record all transactions across the system. This ledger is never stored, but rather exists on the “chain” supported by millions of nodes simultaneously. Through encryption and decentralization, blockchain’s database of transactions is incorruptible, and each record is easily verifiable. The network cannot be taken down or influenced by a single party because it doesn’t exist in one place.
Blockchain technology provides a platform for creating a highly secure, decentralized, anonymized, yet auditable chain of record, used presently in cryptocurrency systems. this same technology could also be used to record and report votes and prevent many types of voter fraud in elections.

Since Blockchain deals with a digital ledger that is saved on the chain, it can not be edited or stored in the office of the government body in charge. So true security is sure that all data from the vote can be store on chain and can't be tempered with. Its transparency means anyone can track the record. In terms of security, it also means individuals can stay at home and send out their vote without going out and facing violence in the election scene, because in some countries there is usually violence in the election scene.

is that type of voting tested or implemented anywhere?

Yes, Sierra Leone and Moscow has.

Quote
Sierra Leone conducted a Blockchain-based voting system on March 7 and became the first country to become so. Leonardo Gammar of Agora, stored votes in an immutable distributed ledger, thereby offering instant access to the election results.

Authorities of Moscow planned and launched a blockchain-based electronic voting system pilot project in June 2019. The project was carried out by partnering with the Moscow City Election Commission and Moscow Department of Information Technology (DIT). They provided the required support for the testing of the project.

Are you aware that plagiarism is stealing other people's work and using it as though it's your own entirely? Apart from the link in my quote, you still have another link below. Guess you're the dumb ass who knows the links means I have some content from the article but yet chooses to check via plagiarism checkers. What did you expect to see?

Years ago I was so obsessed with blockchain voting, I look up to this idea because I am from a country where corruption have taken over everything, so I believe that using blockchain w voting is the solution, a presidential candidate came up and planned to implement this blockchain voting and I was very happy about it but guess what, the idea was a shut down by the corrupt leaders, this was how the dream died.

Blockchain Voting still has some disadvantages as well, for example, lack of public trust and also dependence of software and devices but yet, I can't ignore that Blockchain voting is capable of immutable data and resistance of cyber attackers.

The Blockchain being a utility tool can be used in election processes to improve transparency and finality of the activity as well as the trust of the electorates. But it can only be as effective as the system implementing it; we cannot expect a corrupt government to implement a transparent umpire to oversee the election.

Do not expect blockchain to be used to prevent election malpractice in coubtries where it is prevalent, there are other means of improving transparency in different countries, but they are invariably rendered ineffective by the ruling government if it's corrupt.

actually, blockchain voting happen on Decentralized Finance if you looking up on google there is DeFi Called DAO (A DAO is a decentralized autonomous organization, a type of bottom-up entity structure with no central authority. Members of a DAO own tokens of the DAO, and members can vote on initiatives for the entity.) - https://www.investopedia.com/tech/what-dao/

You can learn more - https://snapshot.org/#/

Its secure and decentralized and if you think is not fair enough there is actually Altcoin called https://www.idena.io/ Proof of Person and give 1 Person 1 Vote
