I am trying to explain this as easily as I can. You may have noticed that various football teams or cricket teams add some other names to their jerseys in addition to the team name and they always keep those added names on the jersey. Avatar and signature are intended to spread visibility about the project or service being advertised even if one of them requires the user to obtain a link to the site in question. While signature are ideal for helping users find sites quickly due to the availability of links within them. The point is equally to spread visibility among forum users though signatures are more ideal. Another thing that serves the same purpose is personal text, that space can also be utilized.

Avatars, signatures, personal text and other spaces can be used for advertising space, but not all users are willing to use them for advertising space even if they can make money.

isn't it the same as when we watch television and see advertisements? we see only pictures or video footage. but it is attempted to attract someone's attention or curiosity to visit the site or whatever is advertised.
indeed, advertising for signature campaigns will be better because only one click will direct us to the intended site. a similar system seems to exist in social media ads that we often encounter today on our smartphones. see an image or video and when we click on it, we will be directed directly to the destination site.

both ways are still good marketing methods. and on the forum, we are lucky to get the opportunity to advertise with the space provided in our account.

There are mainly two kinds of signatures which are monetary and non-monetary. When you wear a signature because you will get some monetary gains, then you are in the monetary or financial sector. You might be advertising a company's product or your service. The company pays you for promoting its product. There are many crypto-related firms that there products or services are advertised in the forum.
But when you wear it because you want to promote a product, ideology, or an endeavor without any financial benefit, you fall in the voluntary, humanitarian or non-financial category. I have seen signatures to promote decentralization and support scammed victims.

This is one place the avatar gets its usefulness. Most times it aids me search for my posts in threads or other users I'm searching their posts in threads. Avatar serves that function well in captivating us like the TV analogy you pointed out easier than signature logos. I think that's all about where its function ends. If there's any other than that, then it should be there's a code embedded in the avatar. May be the coders in the house should enlighten us more on that.

Avatars carry the companies name, signatures do so too but with a direct link to the website, making things easy for whoever wants to access it. The only difference between them is that with the avatar whoever is searching has to do a little extra work to get the website (though some avatars even have the direct website on it, but you can't click it), and you just to type it in your browser, avatars are a good way to advertise, and people who are not lazy can easily find the website.

Do not advise OP to join bounty projects, he might never become a useful user in the forum if they do so, and his post history might end up being filled with only bounty reports.

Avatar is as important as signature campaign, people tend to respond to visual ads then they do to written ones. You see those users that search, that's where you customers are at. A users that takes his time to search your project or whatever service you're advertising is likely to patronage you than some user that randomly clicks your link from a signature campaign ads and get redirected to your landing page. The user that search, that user you already have his attention and it just depends on how well you present your project when he sees it as you can lose or keep your customers with in the first few seconds you try selling something to them.

Also if you noticed images stick to the brain, and an avatar you see continuously usually gets you curious about that project which is another success in marketing.
