When it come to KYC requirements, check if the reasons they gave you are valid, why they are not verifying it?
You can already get a hint if the casino is just looking for loopholes not to give his winnings.

First and foremost, it is advised that one should always read and stick to the terms and conditions of a casino before getting registered on their website. You must be able to abide by their policy if you are ok with it. This have happened to me when a casino asked me for a KYC during the withdrawal which I made because of depositing the minimum wager amount along with the bonuses that they offer. After passing the requirements, they told me that I failed to pass it but they didn't provide any reason why I failed. First you or our friend should have read the terms and agreement first before the deposit and playing games on that platform.  If it is written on their TOS that they will require their players KYC in situation the casino thinks they have to then it is obvious that if you got huge winnings, they will ask you of your KYC in guise of AML and following regulations.  Since you agreed upon registering, asking for KYC won't be considered as scamming you.

Now about the second situation, passing KYC is upon the Casino's or third party KYC verification service discretion.  If you believe you have presented your documents well, and you did nothing wrong then you can contest the casinos decision of failing your KYC .  You can get third party like reputable gambling review sites to intervene your case and let them verify the documents you submitted on the gambling platform.  I think we have cases here where reputable gambling review sites intervene upon either the users request or the casino request to decide which one is telling the truth.

Well first i would be asking why exactly did your KYC fail according to them. There can be numerous reasons why KYCs fail. Anything from identity theft (by which i mean that someone else stole your identity), to the fact that you are citizen of a sancioned country, or that you can't prove source of your income.

If you submit all the details but they keep asking more to delay you or not to process your withdrawal then its indicator that they are scam and don't have plan to work out your withdrawal request.

Much better to do counter action and post a scam accusation so that your feedback against them can help other to avoid also not experience the same thing happen to you.

This is your first question or inquiry. This is interesting but what we have to know is that there is a difference between not knowing and not being able to read the ToS (Terms of Service) or read the place it was stated. Therefore , if the casino has stated it somewhere in the site but the bettor was impatient to read and only interested in the aspect of profiting then it is at the peril of the bettor not to be interested to know how to get his winnings out from the casino. This will impliedly mean ignorant of the law is not an excuse as it is said in latin maxim, ignorantia juris non excusat.

On the other, if the casino didn't state KYC verification on its regulation and suddenly it pumped after you had won, such could be a flag for the casino to play a fast one on you. For the first scenario, were you clear about how they were going about with how they'd process their KYC? Afaik most casinos have the "freedom" to ask for KYC to ANYONE of their users ANYTIME. So you winning $8k doesn't matter in this scenario, at least, if you view it from the legal side based on their ToS. As for passing and stuff, well, that's more on the laws of the country and casino, you might be living in a country where it isn't allowed so can't really judge unless you give us more info (which I would not actually do since it involves your personal info).

As for the second scenario, again, it depends. Some marketing strategies involve showing people what they "want" to see, and not necessarily what would exactly happen. So you might've made a mistake somewhere when registering or is still missing something to be eligible for the bonus. It usually isn't the fault of the casino since the user themselves didn't know about the entirety of the information about the bonus, but well, casinos (or any business for that matter) often hide it in a convoluted way so as to avoid applying it to most that simply think they only need to deposit first.
