Don't feel guilty about it if it is really not your intention to make him addictive to it, you just invite him to play to entertain and no one wanted that to happen. As a friend what you can do is to talk him and his family and probably knock the sense out of him. Would you blame yourself if you introduced a new bar to a casual drinker and that person frequently visited the place where he eventually became a real alcoholic? If your answer to the question is NO then I think you shouldn't put the burden on yourself when that friend of yours became a gambling addict. The only instance that I think you should also take the blame is if you forced him or hyped him too much without giving him any warning.

How could I not feel guilty because before he only gambled when there was a sports game playing and he was not a gambling addict.

This should be a lesson. Not because you do want to help, you'd already provide the help; think of the consequences. I will say also that it is not his fault. Like in my country or my area if I should be specific, anyone can be exposed to gambling at anytime and it is common among friends. Because a friend knows gambling through me and he is addicted, I will kind of feel guilty because I care, unless I do not care is when I will not feel like anything is happening.

My intention is actually good so that they don't get into trouble when betting, but what makes me disappointed is that some people really become addicts.

Sad to hear that you brought someone in the wrong direction but my take on this situation is that - you don't need to blame yourself as it was not your responsibility anymore. I've taken him to a psychologist and haven't seen any results yet, but he's starting to have an approach with his family again so he doesn't hold his cell phone too often to play or gamble.

It's a good idea, but the benefits won't be so immediate. I mean, an addict needs a process in healing. everyone has a different case. So, the recovery method will be different. also, this all depends on your friends. plus, the role of the family is a very important support.

Getting out of all this can only be possible if he isn't too deep into it, most gambling addicts don't really have any realization of what's happening in their life or in the lives of their loved ones or close ones since all they basically care about is gambling and that is because they have become extremely addicted of it that they find it difficult to get out.

Just like any kind of addiction, what they need is constant support and guidance from their family and friends so that they would avoid this kind of activity ever again.
