At least, as a friend, we can accompany him while he is gambling and pull him out of gambling before it's too late and he has lost his money. Even if he doesn't want to listen to our advice, we should try it because he is our friend. We should not give up if he doesn't want to follow our advice because we care about his life and don't want his life to be ruined because of gambling. That is what we can do to help him quit gambling and he can cure his gambling addiction.

It's a good idea, but the benefits won't be so immediate. I mean, an addict needs a process in healing. everyone has a different case. So, the recovery method will be different. also, this all depends on your friends. plus, the role of the family is a very important support.
IMO, the most crucial thing is determination and intention. well, maybe you can give encouragement to build strong determination and intention to recover from addiction. at the very least, it will relieve you a bit of guilt and maybe regret. for the rest, let the process do the talking.

But the case told by OP is different, friend. He said that his friend almost didn't care about his wife and child's family because of gambling addiction and also OP and his friend's wife had taken him to a psychologist so that in this case it was clear that the family already knew about it and wanted to try to stopping the gambling addiction that he had experienced so that it was very easy to provide support from his family.

Gambling is not the only thing that destroys a man, I will like you to take note of this, gambling is just one amongst many, this is why in our society today, you still find responsible men, who do not gamble, but still struggle to live and feed well with his family,  there are so many challenges in life, we face and tackle them every day.

I will share a little of my experience when I invite some friends who like to bet at local bookies.

Getting out of all this can only be possible if he isn't too deep into it, most gambling addicts don't really have any realization of what's happening in their life or in the lives of their loved ones or close ones since all they basically care about is gambling and that is because they have become extremely addicted of it that they find it difficult to get out.

Just like always on which people do only learn on the time that they would be experiencing up some hardships and scenarios which they havent been able to encounter or experienced before on their entire life when it

The same way OP showed the gambling universe to his friend, he can show a solution for gambling addiction. However, the final decision will be always on his friend's hands. If you want to help someone close to you, it should make absolutely no difference how they take it when you tell them that they need your help.
