If you have that much amount then why not choose more potential coins like btc as you also want to hold long term.You can easily get 0.32 btc at the current rate and most probably you would get good returns over it for 3+ years but on the other hand what growth rate you have seen for XRP? They are going normal with pumps and dumps but if you are expecting something big from it then you are not in the right direction.So change your opinion rest your wish where to invest.

That's a lot of money, I'm not sure you should ask unknown people about what to do with them. But my opinion is that XRP is not worth investing in at all, it did hit $3 5 years ago and after that nothing interesting was happening there, and I don't think it will. ADA is a little bit more promising, but still. It takes only about 5% of my portfolio.

Why choose the two when in fact, there are other coins that are more potential than these coins?
However, having that options, I'd choose ADA over XRP. I have some experience with XRP before and I see that it was not really good for investment, and not as volatile as ADA. Because if we wanted to earn more, we must choose coins that are highly volatile.

But If I'm going to spend that $10k, I surely not put money into both of them. BTC, ETH, and Matic, and some new projects - I believe they are worth enough to risk.

$10000 is not a small amount, so consider it before you decide. With the suggestion from the op, I think both XRP and ADA have potential as well as risks, although I don't trust them too much but I think OP should allocate capital to both to increase the chance of avoiding risks. if any coin has problems.
However I think if you have more time you should invest in bitcoin, ethereum because your level of expectation with this market seems quite low when next 3 4 years I think bitcoin eth will bring big profits along with A more secure guarantee regardless of crypto in this market.

For me, this is a pretty big amount to invest, and I don't think it would be wise to invest for the long run in XRP and ADA. I think if your profit target is x3, x4, then you can choose bitcoin and ETH, both are safer and can also be as profitable as you expect.
Investing in altcoins will give very good returns because of their hype, but we should also consider the risks they pose to us. And altcoins are only suitable for short-term investment, should not be considered long-term investments, the market is very unpredictable things can change very quickly.

XRP would be a good choice but there will always be risk; it is against the sec and if ever this crypto would lose the case, you know what's next but for now you could ride the hype. Also, it is believed that altcoin season has already began; bitcoin dominance and eth overtaking the uptrend are the believed indicators of this. Whether it is true or not, manage the risk. I would suggest diversification of your funds to avoidlosing big time; atleast your other buckets will compensate for your possible loss. MKR I think is also a good one as its chart shows; slowly. ETH and Bitcoin are good options as well if it is less risk you are seeking and not bigger return.

It's hard to tell where we are going in short term but in long term majority of us believe that bitcoin will rise again surpassing it's ATH as it's been proven by time. So if you want your investment to be somehow safe and willing to wait for years, Bitcoin is a great option to put your money on but don't expect large profit margin here like being a millionaire. Big profit margin are usually done by altcoins which is less safe than investing on bitcoin. It will depend on the altcoin you choose on how your investment will progress. There are many top altcoins in the market that you can speculatively make a good profit when bull run comes but if you want to really earn big and has the courage to risk your money, You can find potential gems or tokens that still haven't discovered by the public. Ones the public noticed the altcoin you choose, I'm sure that the profit will overflow.

There are many path on where your 10k investment would go but if you are a newbie in this space, Bitcoin is always the one which I can recommend.

As a newbie, 10k for investment is quite a lot. I really appreciate this effort and of course you are aware and understand all the risks.
But what needs to be considered here is what investment you choose. Have you ever invested in Bitcoin before? why is that 10k not invested in Bitcoin? Or if you really want some altcoins, you don't choose Ethereum? If you are interested in this then it might be better to invest most of the money in Bitcoin and the rest in ADA, if you have to choose between ADA or XRP.

this is so true especially considering the fact that these two coin hasn't been performing quite well enough that I think investing in other coin out there is definitely better decision, when it comes to altcoin in general it's just always better riding the wave like investing in new coin that always can bring more profit, we all know that new altcoin usually could get multiple time of value increase if they are really good in quality.
usually the characteristic comes with the fact that they've got seed funding with millions of dollars from venture capital and usually being supported by large companies like binance. the older coins instead have much more risk of being delisted with their losing of trading volume instead of gaining back their former value.

indeed, in investing in altcoins there are always doubts because investing in altcoins is very high risk, different from investing in bitcoin which of course the risk is not too high.

but in my opinion there is cardano and xrp are quality altcoins but you must be prepared to take the risk if you experience a loss, in my opinion if you divide your money into 2 parts namely to invest in xrp and there is cardano of course there is nothing wrong because in my opinion 10,000 is better divided into 2 parts, i.e. 50% invested in xrp, and 50% invested in Cardano.

If you have been intending to hold that investment for 1 to 3 years then I recommend you to choose some less famous coins in the market like ETH, LTC, LINK, BNB,... and especially should hold BTC.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of XRP and ADA, but I don't have a problem with them even though a lot of FUD happens to them but I do see the strength of these coins in the market. With such a timescale, it is easy to choose, but consider because $1000 is a large amount, make sure you have thoroughly researched the coins above, and of course you will accept it too. The risks may occur after that time that they do not meet the expectations.

Why did you choose these currencies in particular, meaning that there are a lot of alternative options that look better.
In general, in the coming period, it is better to invest more than 15% of your investments in alternative currencies, and the rest in Bitcoin and stable coins.

XRP long-term strategy is to be a stable with low fees and daily use, and therefore it is not a long-term investment.

I had wanted to ask similar question why the OP specifically picked the above two coins. Is it that the OP already conducted his research and came up with this two best options and now want us to chose for him.
I asked because according to you, there are some coins that are better than the two he mentioned.

But OP should also try look the way of bitcoin because of the duration he wants to invest. I cannot trust an altcoin for more than 2yrs no matter how reliable it has claimed to be in the market.

Why this choice? I would not choose XRP as a long term investment, the same bitcoin will give more percent profit in 3 years than XRP. Look at XRP's chart, it hasn't updated its ATH in over 5 years, what kind of returns are you hoping for with an asset like that? Besides, 2 assets is not enough for diversification, I think you could have chosen 1-2 more assets, and preferably they all should not be from the top 20 of Coinmarketcap. I would take a closer look at something going after the first hundred, there are very promising projects concentrated there.

Investing in XRP or ADA is all just a waste of time, these projects have already made their bull runups long time ago, the only recommend project is Bitcoin and Ethereum. Taking information from unexperienced traders will only adds more losses to your account. I prefer more time for a n investor to sit down and plan one's strategy inother to get more profits from the market. It's never an easy job to aides for the brighter side of the market, but looking effortlessly and hoping for the very best should be our ultimate priority in the market.

Can you afford to lose that money if you decide to invest in XRP? If the answer is no then XRP needs to be discarded immediately as its performance has been abysmal during the last five years, and the only reason it remains as one of the top coins is because many people are refusing to sell waiting for things to improve, something which it may never happen.

Cardano on the other hand is a good coin but it has its own set of issues, and you should not consider investing in it unless you are already happy with the size of your bitcoin holdings.

Why did you choose XRP and ADA? For me XRP is not a good coin to hold for long term because of the case while ADA is not bad but I prefer to add more coins in my portfolio aside from these coins.

It would be better to invest your money to few more altcoins that has good future like ETH and BNB, this is to minimize the risk. So for long term include Bitcoin ETH, BNB and the 2 coins of your choice then allocate some to a coins that you think has potential or might be a hidden gem.

But OP doesn't make any comment and say something about the reason why choosing them, maybe he has a valid reason to believe that either of the two coins will give him decent rewards. Too bad to think about why choosing them because we know that there are better coins than these two and besides, we've never found a reason to put in such a huge amount of money when we can choose ETH or BTC and we can be sure that it will multiply when the market turn bullish, unlike how these XRP and ADA can do.
