NVIDIA RTX 5090 to Leverage TSMC’s 3nm (N3) Node, Launching in Late 2024
The upcoming RTX 50 series GPUs, codenamed Blackwell, are planned for a late 2024 release. Like Ada, it will also be a monolithic design. According to Kopite7kimi, these GPUs will be fabbed on TSMC’s 3nm (N3) node. You can expect transistor counts of over a billion and densities of nearly 150 billion/mm². Blackwell should offer core clocks of over 3GHz and bus widths of up to 512 bits, resulting in memory bandwidths rivaling HBM memory.

For mining the bigger the number of transistors which the lower the nm production the bigger the numbers that can be fitted in should be a good choice (despite us not knowing what will happen to mining until 1.5 years from now).Rivaling the HBM memory is also a super good thing also as it means we would have much more algos to choose from when using these cards in mining.I wonder what will be AMD response to this as they did make an agreement to produce 4nm cards wtih Samsung but this news from Nvidia should clearly make them think as most likely they will lose the war again like every time against Nvidia in GPU market.

Video cards of the 40 series have a 4N manufacturing process. This is not exactly a 4 nm process technology, or rather not at all - but simply an improved 5 nm process technology in some way.
https://www.techgoing.com/nvidia-clarifies-the-tsmc-4n-used-by-the-rtx-40-gpu-is-a-5nm-process/
50 series graphics cards can be very hot because the number of transistors will be greatly increased. And the new technical process will not allow not to increase the area of the GPU chip.

What AMD has to offer gamers instead of NVIDIA RTX 4090 now?
Nothing. Or come up with a very hot dual-chip video card at a cheaper price.
At this rate, they will lose the mining market unless Nvidia comes up with new mining restrictions.

I don't think Nvidia would want to lose that much again, they lost drastically and the revenues at that time where they implemented LHR-Lite Hash Rate fell down dramatically,at such a point that one year after doing so their revenues compared to when they did not put the LHR in place were scary, something that led us all to "some magical guy" who could by pass such limitations while we all know it was an Nvidia insider. So I exclude the possibility of restricting mining again, especially now that mining is not such popular as it was in 2020-2021 and 2022.

Maybe Nvidia sales managers still think that their video cards are bought by gamers and not miners. Time will tell if they have learned this lesson, or if they will make LHR models again. Then they themselves will release the drivers to remove the restrictions.

Nvidia RTX 50 series release date prediction, specs rumours, leaks and everything we know so far
Currently, there is a lack of published benchmarks for Nvidia’s RTX 5000, and it is unlikely that any will surface shortly. Nevertheless, it is reasonable to anticipate improved performance in both rasterization and ray tracing when compared to GPUs of the present generation.

First RTX 5080 Rumors

Usually, the generations are on a two-year cycle. With the 3080 card launching in September 2020, and the 4080 coming out in November of 2022, it is likely to continue the trend. Although we’re not sure if it will keep getting pushed back, with separate launches. So we could see the RTX 5080 in Q4 of 2024, or later. Either as part of the launch or not depending on Nvidia’s plans. But for certain the 3nm node from TSMC will be 2024 at the earliest.

More than 45% of gamers use inexpensive graphics cards, and steam is used by a lot of gamers.
These video cards for mining are also not very profitable to use, except for 3060. There are few AMD video cards, there are also very few new Intel series.

I agree that now with the coming of the 5000 series from Nvidia those cards will be even cheaper and they can run games relatively well at least for the people who do not mind to play with more than 1080p settings and for people playing mostly online games or steam games.

That 1060 though is a very old card together with 1050 ti,the oldest cards being run and I think that the price of these cards can be found really cheap at local marketplaces everywhere in the world and I just did a check now where I am and I see tons of 1060 at 70 dollars and 1050 ti and 50-60 dollars in price, basically anyone can buy them.

So the new series at least bring some joy to people down the hierarchy  Grin beside bringing miners joy.

The 5000 series from Nvidia won't be available until the end of next year, and the prices of old graphics cards are dropping because miners are selling their graphics cards. Some miners are reluctant to use 1000 series even on free electricity due to the high risk of losing the free socket and getting a low profit.

More than 45% of gamers use inexpensive graphics cards, and steam is used by a lot of gamers.
These video cards for mining are also not very profitable to use, except for 3060. There are few AMD video cards, there are also very few new Intel series.
I hope this data also seen by nvidia Huan  Grin
I think there are a lot of old video cards, because buying a new video card will probably require a processor upgrade or buying a new motherboard with a processor. And many gamers play at 1080p resolution without additional graphics quality settings. And it is also noticeable that rich gamers prefer to buy laptops, because you can play anywhere.

Yes,the price of the GPU-s should go down dramatically as the price of gaming laptops is cheap nowadays and not only rich gamers can afford them, also normal gamers with the help of their credit card  Grin, they can pay less than 999 dollars for a good Ryzen 5 processor and a Nvidia 3050 graphic card, this is enough to play most games in 1080p and even a bit higher.

Thanks to this,I assume the GPU prices should go down dramatically with the passing of time and we will be back at building one mining rig with all parts with the price of 1 GPU that we bought in 2021 at the all time high price of mining gear  Grin.

Today, prices for video cards are very low, an interesting observation is that in Russia, where there are sanctions, the prices for some models of video cards are cheaper than in Europe according to the shares of sellers and large stores. And if you look for used video cards, then the prices are almost the same as in China.

Nvidia’s stock price soaring is great for the company and their future products. With their company’s value shooting up to all time highs, they should have no problem raising the money to build whatever they need to maintain a best in class product line for years to come. I imagine that is good news for fans of their GPUs.

True statistics, the 4th series of Nvidia will not go into mining now.

MOST USED GPUS

NVIDIA RTX 3070
NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti
NVIDIA RTX A4000
AMD RX 5700
NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super
AMD RX 580
NVIDIA RTX 3080
AMD RX 6600
NVIDIA RTX 2060 Super
AMD VEGA 56

https://www.hashrate.no/

Then these video cards will be popular with gamers Smiley well, except for VEGA 56, because I rarely see them on sale.

Wow, I think it's too early to talk about 5090, it will be out after more than a year from now, everything can change until then.

I doubt the mining market will change much,no coin,no actual coin looks like being able to be substituting the ETH profitability we had before ETH moved to PoS.The 5000 series sure will make these most used cards in mining cheaper in price but I doubt it will make them less relevant as the difference between 4090 and 5090 does not seem to be at a super high level of performance, most gamers still will be happy with 3090 as the best card for gaming, pretty much that together with 3090 ti can play every game in maxed setting even for the most demanding gamer,so 5090 although is distant in time from now, most likely won't change a lot of things.

Does anyone know at what point Moore's law will come into effect and they won't be able to make the nM count smaller? So far smallest I have heard of is 2nM. Is that it for a while after they make 2nM?
