For me this is a very important thing because bitcoin is a very valuable asset and many people who already know the advantages, if our assets are already a lot, of course the risk will be even greater and must always be careful not to be known to others, because not everyone will be happy with the assets we have, especially bitcoin which is very high in value, And some of them must have bad intentions to get the bitcoins we have, so to find safe it is better to keep the bitcoin assets we have.
If I draw conclusions, the point is not to exaggerate all things related to any media assets, because when someone starts to be successful with their work within a certain period of time, they may be hated by those closest to them. And if he still fails at his job, he might be overly insulted by those closest to him, so I concluded not to share any results in any media. So that we don't get insults and hatred from anyone, in essence, we have to keep whatever we have through our work so far.
That is very true, therefore we must be able to share or sort it out to tell anyone, not everyone has the right to know but for those closest to us it is very important to know the amount of assets and even where we store them, let's think positively about things unexpected things that happen in the future or for the motivation of others.
For me it is very important to tell the people closest to me and I even ask for a lot of input or from the investments that I make from them, they are the people closest to me for me to study and decide on good suggestions, because I believe the people closest to me love me so much that they will support and wish the best for me.

One reason to keep your bitcoin investments private is to protect your assets from potential theft or hacking attempts. By keeping your investments secret, you can reduce risk of becoming a target to cybercriminals who may attempt to steal your funds. Some people choose to keep their bitcoin investments private in order to maintain their privacy and avoid unwanted attention. Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a public ledger, which means that anyone can view the details of your transactions if they know your wallet address. By keeping your investments private, you can maintain a greater degree of anonymity and protect your personal information.
I say, quite the case for privacy you're making, I must say! However, isnt it somewhat paradoxical? Bitcoins, inherently public yet...we insist on making them private. The public ledger, the blockchain, is intended for transparency, yet here we are, shying away from it. Food for thought, don't you think?

And...may I offer a bit of skepticism? "Keeping investments secret reduces the risk of becoming a target", you say. But, surely...that's like suggesting we should walk around with blank faces to avoid facial recognition software! A bit extreme, dont you think?

Lastly, a quick point to make...transactions might be recorded on a public ledger, but wallet addresses arent necessarily linked to identities. The goal isnt anonymity, its pseudonymity - that is, operating under a name that isnt your own.

Not only cyber criminial but people around us that has an ill-intention.  We never know whether people around us will change or not once they knew that we have lots of treasure in digital world.  They maybe good to us but we all know how greed can change people.  There are even cases where a member of the family killing their kin just to get the money by themselves.  So it is really important that we keep vigilant and never expose that we are holding that huge amount of Bitcoin or else we might find ourselves in big trouble.

The first thing that came to my mind after reading this was that one should not talk about his crypto investments with strangers or friends as it can pose various risks.

It really depends on the person and their friends, when it comes to friends. Strangers, you're right. I don't know why anyone would flash their crypto holdings to strangers. Pretty irresponsible.

If you are active on forums like bitcointalk and involved in trades, you should not give information which can help others relate to your identity.

Exactly. Some of us in the community have been advocating quite a lot for a board that will facilitate the education and discussion of security and privacy. It's imperative to retain these aspects if you want to survive online and offline while trading on the forum, on bitcointalk, or anywhere bitcoin is involved.

There is no doubt in this. Revealing your money to others is a grave mistake and every person whom you feel to be trustworthy can all of a sudden turn their morals against you and rob you. The internet is not the place to trust anybody and in real life your own money is at ever more stake. Hence the more you keep people in the dark the safer it is for you and your assets.

The person in front may have good intentions but they can flip any time in future and there is no way to know this if you are trusting them.

If you keep spreading around the world or you're beside the environment that you are using crypto and you have this kind of account and source of income seems you are saying to the public that hey I'm here with a lot of money and crypto you can see my funds this now makes you more vulnerable in the public. This could serve a different attacks as they can so they can get your funds that's the reason why if you have a bitcoin better to make an investment too at your security. Not all the time you are safe in the internet.

This is exactly why I don't talk about crypto even with my friends. I mean, I trust them, but they might talk about it with someone else, and they will talk about it with someone else and you don't know who can hear it and decide to steal it... I think that you shouldn't talk about not just Bitcoin, but about your money at all with others, unless you have to because of work or if it's your wife or long-time girlfriend.

This applies not only to the BTT form, but to any forums and discords and telegram chats popular in our time.

Also, many people forget that being in public places, for example, in a subway car or bus, when you look at the screen of your mobile phone, check portfolio or when entering a password, the curious eyes of a neighboring passenger can also look into it. You won't even notice it. And remember that in some countries for urban security there are high resolution monitor through which personal can see what is on your smartphone.

I don't tell anyone anything about my money, I drive an old truck and act cheap.

I've been married twice and those are the FIRST ones to screw you...

When I travel I have a great time, live awesome and just smile.

EDIT inspired by the poster below: Family, I had a girlfriend who figured out I had a stash. Suddenly she threw herself on hard times to be "saved". Being I am, I let her crash and burn and moved on.

Sometimes the family could be the one that has more ill-intention that all of the cyber criminals you could find out there just because you have something that could potentially make you rich in the long-term. It's like the usual family toxicity culture around the world especially in Asian countries......like mine. You can never trust anyone that easily even the ones that gave birth to you.

This applies not only to the BTT form, but to any forums and discords and telegram chats popular in our time.

Just join a single Telegram channel that is crypto related and with plenty of members, you would find out plenty of cloud mining scams in your inbox in less than a week. I had moderated some TG chats back in 2020. Even if you don't tell anyone, just because they know that you're part of a crypto community, they'll try to reach out to you and annoy the fuck out of you.

The image I saw in the Op's link was very painful because now that Bitcoin is not legal in our country it has to operate with a lot of secrecy. Otherwise, we are in danger because Bitcoin is a completely confidential matter, so you can't discuss Bitcoin with someone who doesn't know about Bitcoin or whom you don't trust. You may get into trouble. When you trade in Bitcoin you must keep it completely confidential and if Bitcoin was legal in our country we wouldn't be facing this problem.

If you have to hide your hands after buying bitcoin, then don't talk about bitcoin wherever you are. As long as you are in the jurisdiction of any country that prohibit bitcoin, then don't play with fire with it. You shouldn't force yourself to buy bitcoin for any purpose if your country's government doesn't allow you to buy them legally, it's too risky to do.

You can buy and own bitcoin even if your country forbids you from buying them, but if you want to play it safe then don't talk to anyone about bitcoins until your country's government legalizes it. Regarding the privacy of your financial or investment assets, it is clearly your full responsibility.

Recently, I came to read this news

https://protos.com/spanish-police-rescue-crypto-investor-kidnapped-on-holiday/

The first thing that came to my mind after reading this was that one should not talk about his crypto investments with strangers or friends as it can pose various risks. If you are active on forums like bitcointalk and involved in trades, you should not give information which can help others relate to your identity.

I think you don't understand the point of the message posted by the OP because the situation was not about Bitcoin not being a legal tender in the country was the reason why you should keep your BTC holding secret if even BTC is legal tender in your country you still need to keep your holding secret so you won't be the target of the physical attack which exactly what happened the person used by the OP as a case study.

It's always important to be cautious when sharing personal information with strangers or friends. This is especially true when it comes to cryptocurrency investments. It's important to keep your personal information private and not give out any information that can help others relate to your identity.

No matter if it is legal or illegal in your country, you shouldn't be announcing it to everyone. This is like saying to everyone by posting on social media that you are withdrawing money from an ATM, which makes you worried, right? After all, when you go to the bank, it will make you worried if someone will try to steal your money. That is why we are quiet about it so that we don't get the attention of the robbers. Always improve our security and be mindful that anyone can rob you, whether friends or family members, because people change hands for the money.

Yo there's already a case here in my country where they always post it to social media their achievements. Then later on their house got robbed. I know it's hard to resist to share it to someone that you are investing or trading in Bitcoin, but it would just worsen your situation even to your relatives. Some would ask you for money or pressure you because they think you're already earning huge amount of money in crypto. That's why other people prefer Bitcoin since it's decentralized where you can control your assets anonymously. So what's the point if you're announcing it to the public right? You might asking for support to others but maybe that's why this kind of forum exist to communicate anonymously.

I think it is very important to keep a secret from others after investing in bitcoin. But if you don't tell others that it is possible to invest in bitcoin, it would be kind of stupid. Because I have many friends who are interested in investing in bitcoin after seeing my investment. If I had kept it a secret from them, they would have been ignorant about Bitcoin. Everyone has some idea about Bitcoin. If you hold a large amount of Bitcoin, you must be careful of others. This is because greed drives people to anything.  will force you to do bad things. If someone else finds out that you have bitcoins, you will definitely have people behind you to mislead you in various ways about how to take it from you. You can let others know about bitcoins but of course your bitcoin holdings are secret must keep.

There's nothing hard to resist there buddy either people prioritize their life and their crypto investment or prioritize the attention they are trying to get by showcasing their crypto portfolio because there's nothing to benefit or prove from it than endanger their life.
Knowledge is the power they say, if the people that do these things understand the consequence they won't have to do it.

Yes, Bitcoin is a decentralized coin but it is never an anonymous asset.

If it is not legal in your country, do not use it.

You may want to move out of the country if it is very important or you make your living based on it.

Where it is not necessary to reveal your secrets, you should never do it. Secrets are called secrets because you are meant to keep them a secret. When you are not successful, the number of your friends will increase, and when you are successful, the number of your enemy will increase. If you are involved with crypto, make sure only those who are close to you know about it. In today's world, we cannot trust anyone. This is why we are always advised to keep our privacy safe. And this news totally proves why that is true.

Be safe and keep your privacy safe. There are people everywhere who are willing to harm you. You may not know them now. But when the time will come, you will see them for sure.
