The issue is: how can you introduce new people to Bitcoin and promote it without telling them you are a Bitcoin investor? If you close yourself inside a shelter of anonimity, you won't share experiences with other people around you. You limit yourself a lot by not absorbing what they have to teach you, and by not teaching them what you know.

I think there is no issue to tell others you are a Bitcoin enthusiast, and to share ideas with them about this subject. The only thing which isn't advised to do is to tell them how much money you have invested and to never boast an ostensible way of life on your social medias (what is also valid for people who aren't Bitcoin investors). Being discreet, but not lonely or introspective is a more healthy alternative...

The first thing that came to my mind after reading this was that one should not talk about his crypto investments with strangers or friends as it can pose various risks. If you are active on forums like bitcointalk and involved in trades, you should not give information which can help others relate to your identity.
If you keep your mouth shut, you would save your life and that of the members of your family. The only person who in my opinion should know about your investment deals, your assets, how much money you own and others is your lawyer. Many people want to show off as if they are in a competition with their neighbours who do not even given a damn about them.. you'd see them on Tiktok and other social media sites talking about how much they have made from a trade, showing off expensive crypto lifestyles etc. These people are only putting themselves at risk. Keep shut, build in silence and most especially be more cautious about your friends than your enemies becasue your friends know your weak points and could easily strike than your enemies.

I agree with @OP because that's what we must do to protect our assets from the target of bad people who want to take our assets. We can hide all our assets without anyone knowing, especially from people we don't know because we don't know their true intentions.

It's better to keep it for ourselves so we can keep using crypto in peace and pass it on to our children later. In addition, owning crypto means we are responsible for everything from people who want to cheat or steal our assets.
Bitcoin's security depends only on a private key. Whoever has the private key to a wallet can access that wallet and control assets at any time. So whether or not anyone knows about our bitcoin holdings. we must first make sure that our private key is secure on In a safe place. And if our private key is kept securely and no one gets it then no one will be able to steal our bitcoins. So I don't care if anyone knows about my bitcoin investment or not

I have a slight difference with most. Try to read.

I'm even quite happy when people around me ask about my activities with Bitcoin because they can provide an explanation of the advantages and disadvantages that I get from Bitcoin.

Apart from explaining the advantages and disadvantages of Bitcoin from the positive side, I will absolutely not show them the number of assets and things that are confidential that other people should not know.
Showing the number of assets and other things that are important to keep secret, is the same as giving people the opportunity to take actions that will harm us.
Not happening today, maybe tomorrow, next week and for sure they will try to get what we have shown.

Talking about our crypto investments make us a target, and not only from the mafia, the hackers could try to access our coins too, and that's why it isn't a wise move at all. While lower profile we have will be better for us. We have to play it smart.

Some years ago I read a story on the opposite side, a youtube kidnapped a couple and asked for cryptos to let them go, and I don't know how the police trace those bitcoins and find who was responsible, now the guy is on the jail, but the news was all around.

That is a different case, while you have stated the right thing in the next point.

Quote

It's never safe to show assets to someone you don't even know. Even if you're very much in favor of privacy, you should also keep your bitcoin holdings tightly sealed from the government and anyone who knows you. For me it was done to minimize the risk, so the tips and user advice here seem worth considering. Your assets are for you, and you must secure them in various ways. You don't need to be someone like Michael J. Saylor who is always announcing his bitcoin holdings on social media. He was someone different, but there was a possibility that he would become the target of a hack.

-snip-
People today are too narcissistic that their personal lives are exposed to the public so that they are known to be viral.
Even though exposing too much personal life is not good, especially if you tell that you are a holder of a lot of bitcoin.
it will pose a danger to yourself and your closest family. there will be many who are eyeing the bitcoins owned.
there have been many examples of robberies that have occurred due to bitcoin ownership that is known by many people.

Investment confidentiality is very important, no one should know about it (only a few people like family).
keep silent and invest safely and calmly.

Bitcoin or not, isn't there an expected level of secrecy and privacy in all your financial matters? Even if it's your closest family and friends, there are some things that must only be between you and your bank or lawyer. Whatever is the advantage of announcing all to sundry your Bitcoin investments? There may be exceptions but there should always be discretion... and humility.

Keep your success to yourself and people will still make you look stupid with your money and success, when people don't know how we make our money they always come up with stories just to satisfy their mind, I am talking from experience.

It's very hard to make money in my country because of bad economy and the little people that make some money and get rich are called names, scammer, hacker, ritualists, voodoo ist and so on.

You owe nobody any explanation, said my parents, poverty is so powerful that it can twist the mind of people, making them believe that riches is for the criminals. Especially when you are into something that people don't understand.

Keep your success to yourself alone, revealing how you make money can turn you into a target for the jealous souls.

Not only applies in the world of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency. If you have any job and can make a lot of money from it, don't show off.
Every time you make a lot of money, shut up. When you don't have money, be silent. It will stop people from treating you badly.

You raise a valid point about the importance of maintaining privacy and security when it comes to discussing one's cryptocurrency investments with others. It is always advisable to exercise caution and avoid sharing too much personal information that could potentially put oneself at risk of theft or other malicious activities. It's best to keep such discussions limited to trusted individuals or online communities with a strong focus on privacy and security.

It is very surprising seeing this kind of question here.
It is not that import for us to hide our Bitcoin investment from other if the trust is there. Many of us has family that could easily snitch on us if they find out that we have some money somewhere online. So it may be a good advise without any consequences for us to try as much nit to disclose our Bitcoin investment with People that can come for our money by any means. So many people are now dead because they disclose there funds, investments with people that later come against them later on.

Not at all for me. That is because I do not have much, even if bitcoin reaches to a million dollars per coin, I won't be a rich person, I would be doing better than today, pay all my debts, and maybe like go to a good vacation but then it's all done. That's how much I have, one million dollars per bitcoin only covers my debts and one vacation, think how little it is today. So if everyone on the world knew about how much bitcoin I have, it would not change anything in my life at all.

However, if you are a wealthy person or maybe poor looking guy, and have bitcoin and hide it, then I would understand. People with a lot of money on the side at bitcoin may not want to openly say that and hide it, that only works when you have a lot of money though, poor people like me have no need for that.

This is quite scary, worst part is if someone doesn't involves police or let's say police isn't efficient enough to act on time it's almost impossible to trace the money as well because of Bitcoin's pseudononymous nature. Also, it poses a risk on your life as well if you eventually give the private key also. Honestly hiding your identity is very important in Crypto world.

It was the victim’s own fault for boasting to a casual acquaintance about his crypto activities. And in fact, even if the Syrian was not a luxury car dealer and crypto investor, he shouldn’t have attended parties in a strange place in an unfamiliar city. One can’t be so naive.

That's actually traumatic experience for the victim. That's why in this industry people preferred to remain anonymous as there are prone to threat since money are involved in this scenario. If you've become successful in this industry which is in the crypto, it would be better to remain silent about where'd you get the money to spend. We're aware of the capability of people to do such things just in order to get some funds, that's how crazy people even your family, friends and lovers could betray you for your fortune.
That’s the reason why it’s better to keep your wealth and achievements into yourself because the moment you start publicizing it, a lot of people would be eyeing on you waiting to attack or take advantage on your wealth. I can see that the crypto investor in the news is just very confident and not being cautious in all that he did. I think after his traumatic experience with the kidnappers, he must learn to avoid crowd and partying knowing this incident might have chances to repeat again in the future.

It's the kind of attack and just like being kidnapped, there's the $5 wrench attack. It's important for each of us to know whom we're telling that we've got crypto investments.

You tell it to the wrong person and you might be personally attacked by that person or people that you're generous of telling your experience and assets on it.

Being talkative should be done in a right setting and sometimes all you just need to do is to keep quiet.
There’s no need actually to tell your friends or other people what you have gained in your life. Your achievements may only trigger the jealousy side of other people that will lead them to think of harming you so they can steal what you have. That is why it’s best to be anonymous when you are in the crypto industry. People will come to perceive that once you have crypto, you have millions of money with you.

Recently, I came to read this news

https://protos.com/spanish-police-rescue-crypto-investor-kidnapped-on-holiday/

The first thing that came to my mind after reading this was that one should not talk about his crypto investments with strangers or friends as it can pose various risks. If you are active on forums like bitcointalk and involved in trades, you should not give information which can help others relate to your identity.
When you do really value or mind about your security and privacy then it would be always better to keep silent or making yourself that away on others awareness that you've been dealing with Bitcoin
or crypto as a whole. We know that there are people who do have that criminal thinking would be automatically having that impression that once a crypto guy then there's some hidden
riches on their wallets which you would really be potentially be target out or something that would happen. On this current years or era on which we know that scam, abduction and other things
would really be that common.

So if you do really value your security and safety then it would be better if you wont really be boasting up yourself about your holdings or whatsoever because you are really indeed
putting yourself into danger because you dont know on what the things comes up into their minds when it comes to money which it could potentially
give out risk into your life.

Not only crypto investments should one aired to friends or strangers openly. Whatever else you are worth, shouldn't be disclosed to anyone but rather be kept as a secret.

With what is happening in the world entirely, you would know that human being's minds are full of evil, nobody knows who's wishing them well or not. Someone you call a friend can plan evil against you without your knowledge and be forming well in front of you. That's why it's good not to trust anyone even your so-called friend.

Just as people's minds can't be read, that's how your crypto investment is to be. If you leave it open, you invite envy, evil, and hatred from friends and strangers toward you. Remember a mind can't be read. That's how you don't who has bad intentions toward you. A friend can hate you all because you are more progress financially than him

Adding up to this one;
Canada ‘crypto king’ abducted, tortured over $3M ransom: reports
https://nypost.com/2023/03/26/canada-crypto-king-reportedly-abducted-held-for-ransom/

And there are lots of similar scenario in speaking about abduction and being tortured and asking for some huge ransom just because they've been thinking about having tons of money for someone
to be known on having crypto holdings. Just like on what others been saying on which it is really just that it is really that risky on telling your crypto holdings and knowing everyone or in public.
It is really just luring someone to go and break out on your doors of your home and would be getting all of your crypto coins. Better to stay low key and avoid
unnecessary show off or being boastful about your holdings because you dont know that there are already someone whose watching you.
