Well GG is really the biggest network but creating your own would have some merit I think. You can keep all your profits and just pay for the development.
Also, if you want to join a network this would make KYC mandatory, which would also be a big change for stake. Joining a network would open stake up for money laundering ( deposit at stake -> lose the money to for example a gg poker account -> withdraw ). So I think they would prefer to keep the action "in house" .

Are there really that strict location rules? I know in Germany because of their stupid gambling tax it is hard to play poker unless the network makes specific rules for German players. Other than that I didn't hear anything about it.

Dry compared to slots maybe, but it has like a 100 million online poker players. Lots of them, like i have to play it somewhere else as stake doesn't yet provide it, but i would move to stake for poker in a heartbeat. And sites i trust and use make me download a software to play it with. Which is ok as an app with a phone but not for my pc laptop. If stake would offer browser based tournaments, i thing lots of players would move into it.

Poker will be something that helps the business grow, but I don't blame them for testing the waters on 1 site before spending the money to integrate it on both sites. I hope it is popular and it gets launched on both sites so that noone is left out. Poker is popular worldwide.

Good update i must say, i personally have never played poker before, and neither do i know how to play it, but i do have friends who are really into the game, and in the area where i live, one will have to travel several miles to find a physical casino where they can play poker, since the online casinos that offer the game is very limited.

The news of the game coming to stake is a good one sincerely, and since they have chosen to test it on the us version of the site for now, all i can hope is that all goes well as they expect, so that they can also get the game listed on the main stake .com site, i possibly may learn to play through my friends if they get the game integrated on the main site.

I was actually comparing it to the largest poker network currently which is ggpoker. Aside from that, stars and wsop is probably pretty popular in US as well so starting your own network is actually not a good decision. Well of course its Stake we are talking about, they could spend millions for months on developing their own poker and it would never harm them at all so yeah

I hope it is popular and it gets launched on both sites so that noone is left out. Poker is popular worldwide.

give us your opinion on this in case you will try them in the future. Im not sure how strict Stake is with their VPN policy, pretty tempted to use VPN to access stake.us once they launch it there

If you never played it before just one advise, don't try to play it instantly when they offer it, you will most likely lose all your money against people that actually know what they are doing.
Poker is a very complex game where of course luck has an influence but a long time player will always prevail over a newbie or maniac person .

It's a fun game, if you know what you're doing .

You can learn/play for free at many sites by the way, with play money. But don't expect the real games being as soft as play money ones. People that play with play money act super lose and aggressive since they don't have anything to lose.

Poker is a global game and integrating it into Stake will boost their traffic level because poker is an internationally known game and among the most referenced casino games,  I don't know what the main reason for the special attention to poker games

But then also we have to encourage more poker tournaments we have some food managers and organizers here also, so this will help a lot and I believe this could be in the pipeline for the long term.

Oh my gosh, why does it take so long to add poker on their website? Is it really that hard process to add poker? Almost every fiat casino has it and I believe Stake's team is not a team full of juniors, there will be many people from working experience that have worked on various casino product, including poker. Or why do they need to test it at .us website and then add on .com website? I hope that testing process won't last for a long time because I am really itching to play it on crypto casino.

Poker used to be one of the games that received a lot of recognition at first, but somewhere along the line, the market dropped significantly to the point that several poker tournaments that were hosted all happened to go in a particular direction, with low participation, but also that doesn't mean that the tournament was left unattended to in some cases players who want to take parts have a different time schedule.
In the long run, poker still remains one of the most popular games that many players will always find interesting at whatever point in time and also having the mindset of maximum excitement from poker games so its development into stake is a great move that will push for further higher traffic to stake.

Actually I am not sure if there will be poker tournaments, at least in the beginning.
Since stake is so money hungry and want to squeeze their customers they will prefer if there is a lot cash game action. Collecting cash game rake brings much more money than tournament fees. So I think their focus will strongly be on cg.
But of course I can be totally wrong here. We never know what stake is doing. Maybe they listen to the community, that's the best they could do.

It depends on where you play poker though. I've probably only seen 1 tournament with overlay prizepool in ggpoker network out of 100 tournaments. Most of the time, the tournaments action on there is pretty packed

Actually I am not sure if there will be poker tournaments, at least in the beginning.

Cash games and tournaments goes side by side, you cant just leave one out just because its not profitable. It would kill the point of having poker in your own site if you are leaving one of it out. Anyway, Stake as a company has a pretty high valuation though so they probably wouldnt mind losing money for the first 3 months if they arent going to make money from poker tournaments in case if they have one

I think that's a great idea. They basically get risk free money through collecting the rake. Having a super big player base this would be a HUGE opportunity for stake and for their players.

For people with skill at poker that might become a lucrative site. Many degen gamblers that just lost with casino games and sports might "try their luck" at poker, fishing time. 

Question is though, will they make their own poker software/network where only stake players will be able to play or will they join a network like ipoker, ggpoker, 888 and so on.
My best guess that they will keep it in house because KYC is not mandatory. Some abusers might want to run up some amounts on sports/casino and the chip dump it to somebody on a different site through shared network.

Anyway, I think it's a nice idea. Poker with crypto still is WAY too small.
Let's hope they can create a fun and safe environment with a lot of different poker variations like NLH, PLO, Stud games, Chinese Poker and so on.

Hopefully they are asking the players for their input when creating this! And please, make some moderate rake. 

While I would love to see a truly successful crypto poker site, I'm not sure there are enough people around the world who could make it as popular as something like PokerStars or GGPoker. Those sites are successful, having thousands of players even at the low points of the day, but the fact they are fiat based just gives them a much higher audience. The fact is many people still do not have any interest in crypto nor want to mix it into the gambling mix. Those that do have crypto usually have it with the intention of holding on long term or using it for a particular purpose besides gambling. It will also take a huge effort, which will be greatly helped by their existing player base they can direct there, in order to reach that self sustaining critical mass of players.

While I agree with most of what you say, I kind of wonder how true our thinking actually is. I get bored from time to time and used to explore Twitch streamers, now Kick streamers since certain sites were banned on the platform.

If there are not thousands of users interested in crypto, then why are there 10s of thousands of viewers on some of these streamers like Adin Ross or Trainwrecks? Why would sites waste their money hiring these big named streamers, or having sponsorships with sports personas, or even waste money paying for advertising?

I don't think it's happening anytime soon because the site isn't exactly in its best state due to bonus cuts, rising negative criticism etc.

I wouldn't say that GG is only based on fiat. They have many methods for deposit and withdrawal, including cryptocurrencies like BTC, ETH, USDT, and USDC. So even if Stake can launch a poker room and it becomes successful, it will still be very problematic for them to compete with a giant like GG. I mean, Stake is unlikely to be able to offer anything special in terms of poker that is not available on GG at the moment.

If they decide to collaborate with big poker network such as ggpoker, they have bigger chance to survive with the poker.
Lets say Stake prefer to create their own poker network, I think it is not a bad idea since they have big player base already now and it is a good start.
Most other sites that failed in the past are mostly new sites that come with poker game only and started like from ZERO so it is reasonable if most of them failed.
Betcoin and fortunejak or may betnomi, these 3 sites did try to have poker but all of them also failed although they have player base but I'm sure the number of active players are not as big as what we can see in Stake.
