With KNC announcing their first batch of ASICs will deliver 250 MH a piece a lot of GPU miners will be looking to switch to an ASIC resistant coin. Which algorithm would you like to see DigiByte switch to? Or should we stick with Scrypt?

I voted X11. Otherwise I would vote stay scrypt and see how the ASICs go.

I actually need my CPU power right now, so that isn't an option for me. Something that would work well with my 7850 or any GPU for that matter would be best in my opinion. New tech is going to come out for all levels of mining at some point. Choose your flavor I suppose. One thing is certain, I won't be dropping $10k for hardware at any point.

The power saving is the thing for me as well. This does make X11 more attractive. The question is will someone write some better coded mining software the fully utilize the GPU.

We are taking a very hard look at SHA-3 Keccak. Maxcoin implemented SHA-3 Keccak We have been researching much more into Keccak. http://keccak.noekeon.org/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-3What really caught our attention: Keccak excels in hardware performance, with speed/area trade-offs, and outperforms SHA-2 by an order of magnitude. Keccak has overall good software performance. It is faster than SHA-2 on modern PCs and shines when used in a mode exploiting parallelism. Rumor has it a GPU miner for Keccak has already been developed. We are thinking we can modify Keccak for GPUs.

First time, I saw this statement, I decided to keep quite a while, because I think no one will believe that, turn out I saw much topics that claim X11 and SHA3 are algorithm for ASIC resistant. I think before this believes go wire spread more than the current situation, I need to do something. To let people know, what they are believe is TOTALLY wrong......WHY ? X11 and SHA3 ( Keccak ) are not ASIC resistant at ALL, according to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), if an algorithm wants to become SHA3 candidate during that time; one thing that algorithm must have is it need to be able to create by ASIC. AND every algorithm in X11 used to be SHA3 candidate until Keccak wins the competition and become SHA3. What determines power efficiency is the profitability of the mining. This is influenced more by the price of the coin, less so the algorithm!

This would be an interesting move. It would no doubt be attractive for merchants who didn't want customers/competitors using the bitchain to gauge their sales etc, but I suppose equally it would prove helpful to track transactions from a regulatory point of view, or in the case of a goxxing.
