because altcoins accelerate the growth of new users of crypto currency. with airdrops and bounties people will join and learn to use crypto.
while regarding profit because the movement of altcoin or its violations is high so that it can generate a lot of profit and quickly.

The human nature to take risks. That is the only reason why lotteries, HYIPs, Chit-funds and altcoins exist in the first place, similar things have been in circulation since a long time. Those who invest are trading the risk for the reward and hence the craze and thus the scams.

But I consider the top altcoins to be of some use specially when the bitcoin networks becomes too congested and difficult to push a transaction through without paying hefty fees.

Beyond that I am enthusiastic more about bitcoin than altcoins. But if I do invest, it will be among the top five.

Many has become rich and wealthy out of their investment in altcoin while others loss in their investment, 
The future of any altcoin can not be predicted, thou there are still ones that has potential why some are just pump and dump but there existence has made the crypto space more interesting. Expecting much profit has made some investors loss in their investment. It is advisable to buy in dip and sell at any profit added to your capital.

Altcoins are very important because they increase the value of the entire crypto marketplace. If it was only Bitcoin that had been in existence, the crypto market would have not been what it is today. It would have been boring to the core.
There are forces that are driving the market and we don't have to push it. Altcoins are very important for us to make money from the market because we can not always rely on Bitcoin to make profits.

But if I say from my side I will say I don't invest in all altcoins. Those altcoins which have good exchange and are not in top position I never think to trade with all these altcoins. But I always believe more in the Ethereum market and I definitely buy this Ethereum to hold. Also I don't consider any coin to hold long term but focus on some market trending coins to trade. But it should be the best exchange and top position like ORDI, Exchange Binance.

Well. From my personal point of view, alternative coins are important because serious projects are the pathway to get more technological innovation when comes to cryptocurrency and ways to transmit value in a decentralized and secure way, regardless where one lives. Actually, many of the things we take for granted today were ideas which started as relatively small alternative coins projects, Litecoin wanted transactions to be faster, Monero wanted transactions to also be private, Ethereum sought for more functionalities to the Blockchain technology, and so on.
If we did not give the importance and attention those legitimate projects need, we would be still living in a market mostly made of Proof of Work coins which may be too similar to each other, and there would be more competition for hashrste in different blockchains, the less concentrated the hashrate would be, the less safe all the ecosystem would be as well, as a consequence of that hypothetical scenario.
Thanks to the existence of alternative currencies, I can expect some nice projects to come in the future, something quantum proof, fast, anynomus and with much use case.

Don't be too surprised that despite the many risks that are in altcoins, investors still flood it, and the reason is not far fetched, it's because they want to make many times their ROI on the very shortest time, in the end It'll mean them gambling their capital to either buy legit or scam altcoins. The OP method makes sense, if you decide to go ahead and buy, go in quick and invest, have your target to sale in the peak of price pump, when it reaches your target price, don't be greedy and sale, cash out ASAP, because delay can be dangerous, the more you wait, it can start crumbling down and eventually worth nothing.

Buying the dip is not all about trading because the way you sound, is like selling your altcoin to buy bitcoin and sell to make profit when Bitcoin is on bullrun. But I hope you know that Bitcoin is all about long term investment not a kind of revenge game against altcoin failure.

So when investing in bitcoin you should be able to state clearly the reason for bitcoin investment not for some unnecessary reasons otherwise you will not meet the target of holding for long.

I realized that crypto is also becoming more widely known and more widely adopted after the existence of altcoins. The presence of airdrops in altcoins also indirectly brings more people into crypto projects. So altcoins are very important in the development of crypto adoption itself. Even the unemployed can now have a job and income from crypto trading and investing. As long as they enter with sufficient insight and not just because they want to get rich quickly. Personally, I also started out probably getting to know altcoins and then getting to bitcoin. I forget but maybe it's the other way around. Many Investors are greedy, before investing into an altcoin they would have had a target of taking profits when they have made 50% of their investment but as the market continue rising, they'll forget the target they set when they wanted to invest into the altcoin and begins to aim for a bigger percentage. As they're holding, the market will crash and they'll lose. Many investors don't know the difference between bull and bear market, they think the market will continue rising forever.

Altcoins are important to the cryptocurrency market as they give investment variety with difference options of investing into the market. Some investors don't want to invest too much money into Bitcoin as they believe they're already late therefore they're looking for new projects that they can be among the first set of Investors so they can make big profits wehn the project becomes popular and listing to top exchanges.

I think you should be more specific with the kind of Altcoins you're referring to, not all altcoins are best when it comes to buy and hold, I can only trust some few altcoins in terms of buy and hold but if you're referring to newly projects then it's very hard to give garanteee if that coin will bring profit in long term. The strategy you mentioned is also good but still depends on the coin, an investor will sell whenever the price has reached an ATH, this is the best decision especially when dealing with altcoins to prevent risk, there's no guarantee that the coin will reach another ATH so why not sell to gain from the market. Altcoins investment needs a smart investor to play along with the market.

For long term crypto investment plans altcoins are not a favourite to opt for that's why I don't give priority to altcoins and with the saturated alt projects spread all over the industry it's very challenging and highly risky to invest even for a shortest time as we can't fathom the intentions of the founders of these projects if they are in the market to stay for long as possible or to rug pull and vanish to only heavens knows when and where. Apart from Ethereum which could be slightly considered any other altcoin is a no go to me despite it's been considered as a fast track route to profit making.

Most of us probably do the same thing as you. That is, altcoins that have been collected since the bear market will be sold in the bull run market. But personally, I will even sell ETH on the Bullrun market later. although it is only ETH that is the most trustworthy among all altcoins in the long term. But still I can only hold it for the medium term. Because my long-term investment in crypto is only bitcoin. Meanwhile, I think altcoins are only suitable for the short and medium term. But if you are strong enough to hold ETH in the long term then maybe you can get maximum profits. As long as you remain strong even though the bearish market will come again after the bull run market.
