First I was not that active with gambling until I start working in promoting casinos and for me to have first-hand experience I decide to always spare some percentage of my weekly earning to stake a few bets and enjoy some in-house games,  I don't do that at a regular basis but I have been relatively active I gambling all to the reason I mentioned above.

I am well aware of the risk associated with excessive gambling,  so even though I have weekly stipends I don't allow myself to get carried away so I set my gambling limits.

To be honest, my friends attracted me to start gambling. I had never gambled before but when I saw them participating in sports betting, I became excited to give it a try. Everything  in life has its both good and bad and that also applies to gambling  and i guess your case is that of peer pressure through  their winnings. That gambling mindset leads to poverty because of not controlling your emotions which can be bad for personal finance. That's one of the beauty of gambling: uncertainty. Pretty sure some of us here are gambling for the thrill and the uncertainty element in gambling. Plus, the chance that you can win big from something that provides you entertainment? Who wouldn't want to do that? And if you're already enjoying the sport, why not put something on the line and possibly win even more at the conclusion of the event?

I got persuaded by my colleagues because I noticed they always ends at the winning side in gambling, only for me to realized that it was never my bidding, I liquidated my bank accounts all because I got motivated and inspired each time I lost, they keep winning, but these winning doesn't come all the time. I got invited to a no limit texas holdem game at a friend of mine's shop. They played $1/$2 no limit 2 days a week usually Thursdays and Fridays. My first encounter with the game of Blackjack was just a day before the COVID-19 virus ravaged the world. It happened to be my last paycheck before the company decided not to renew contracts due to the crisis triggered by the virus. At that time, I was still in the learning phase, acquainting myself with the mechanics of Blackjack. Before wagering with my own money, I was taught to understand the game.

I knew about gambling for a long time, but because I know how I can get attached to habits easily, I was able to stop myself from starting sports betting at a very early age.  About yesterday I came across a friend looking so depressed and sad and tried to interrogate with him then he said he felt like giving up in life and i asked why, he said he used about 80% of his savings to stake on a particular football game and lost, I felt so pity for him and had to encourage him with some advices.

The possibility to earn huge in snap is what attracted me to play gambling. In the early days before I became a gambler, I saw some people flexing their winnings on social media that made them become rich instantly. That's how I became curious to try it as well, (dice is the first game I tried online).

The thought of winning and how easy it can be were replaced by disappointment and losses because that's not what I expected it to be. It's utter foolishness to use the funds that you cannot afford to lose in gambling while knowing that gambling is a game of luck and nothing is guaranteed in it, so getting influenced by someone because they've won a jackpot and risking your life-savings only with the hope that you might hit the jackpot too is totally senseless. How is it important that someone got lucky so you would get lucky as well just like him? That's not how luck works.

I've never in my life used any funds that are so important in my life in gambling just because of the hope of winning something big with it because I know that if I can win something big, I can lose something bigger as well and I don't find that being worth it at all.

Way back, what enticed me to try gambling is the money that comes with it. I'm not going to be a hypocrite, I once thought that gambling will provide an easy money. But boy, I was so wrong. And it's just unfortunate that I have to learn it the hard way. I was a victim of hype and FOMO which partly is my fault as well since I didn't research well before, that made me lose my hard-earned money. But it is what it is and the silver lining behind it is that I already learned so much that shaped me into who I am today and it influenced me in making better decisions.

To those who want to try gambling, it's better to search first and look upon the reviews and feedbacks of those people who have first hand experience to prevent encountering unpleasant scenarios in gambling.
