7. The shitcoin scammed. He/she bought lots of shitcoins on an obscure Pump and Dump group.

This type of scam is very common in the crypto space and most people do fall for this scam. I have fall into this like twice.

Yeah, Especially for memecoins. Thats why I make good long hours research before buying or buy the one listed on CEX that list memecoin earlier than coingecko like Bitget which I signed up earlier.

I did not experienced getting scammed but I did get fooled since I ended up giving him some of the money I got for free. It was on 2019 and I did not worry about it since the money I got is free from an exchange platform from using their service and the guy also lent me his crypto to pay the fees and was able to sell it as I don't have money at all and I am not in crypto for years but now, I learned from that mistake. That's why it is important to know the signs if it is a scam or not.

Being deceived by greed is possible for a trader - of course that is when they expect more profit when the potential price increase is not higher. But so far I'm grateful I haven't been scammed out of greed or something else like a scammer's attempts - but I always hope to avoid it as much as possible.

Just because I've never been scammed doesn't mean I won't be a target - but I really hope to never be. We can only minimize risk - but can never guarantee ourselves not to become victims. With all the faith and effort - I hope I can avoid that risk as much as I can.
Trying to avoid greed is certainly a good thing. Greed is owned by everyone and it can happen anytime when you don't have full control over yourself. I have several times experienced my inability to control myself to greed because of the panic that arises. It made all my trading plans fall apart and I ended up losing money. The importance of managing emotions so that they are stable will affect everything.
But for scams I am more vigilant and have never fallen into a scammer's trap.

Of course, there are many forms of scams, and scammed people have different profiles. At first I thought people who were scammed were too naive or too greedy, but in reality scams are diverse. Perhaps we could list the different forms of scam and, if need be, tell our own story to help others protect themselves.
I got scammed in 2018 due to my ignorance. At that moment i try to buy some stable coins using my social media account. I collect his account number and send the required money. The scammer first told me very well about his business and screamed that he would pay me after sending the money but later after receiving the money he blocked me from social media. I didn't lose much money but at that time i got lesson for my ignorance and have never made a purchase through social media account.

Out of all the ones you shared, this is the only one that I've experienced in my 5 years that being involved with crypto.

TBH, I consider myself lucky that I didn't fall into too much scam by these scammers because before I invested my money, I learned to identify which are scams, and which are not by watching many videos online, but mostly on Youtube. There are some videos out there that are giving tips, and signs that it's a scam. Of course I also some of the projects here that has been launched, and turned out to be a scam. Most of them happened in 2017 during the ICO hype where many projects are popping out of nowhere, and there is this one particular project back in 2017 where they put Roger Ver as one of the developers. Of course the token sale turned out to be a success, and has been listed on an not-so popular exchange, and after few months since it has been listed, the project just vanished including the money of the investors.

Am I forgetting any?

Has this happened to you or someone you know ?
Rug pulls. I think you missed it.

There are many projects back in the past where they ended up as a rug pull. I still remember that time back in 2017 as well where I risked some of my money, invested into a project that is on it's token sale, and I did spent hours researching regarding this project. To cut the story short, it ended up as a scam project, and I lost my money.

If being rugged on shitcoin degen is considered scammed activity then I am been scammed countless already. But thats on me, providing I am risking funds to some degen tokens on every L1 out there especially on eth. But I know the risk of it since its a pump and dump tokens being traded with high risk and potential liquidity removal. Its always up to you how youll manage funds. But it doesnt I am always losing. I wouldnt do that if I didnt profits on some shitcoin too.

My friend had experienced a malware attack that changed his bitcoin wallet address to someone else's bitcoin address that a hacker had implanted.
At first, he didn't notice until he transacted and saw that his bitcoin wallet address was different from the one he copied and pasted and then reinstalled the system into a new one.
Scams from HYIP programs always target new people who don't have enough knowledge. I experienced it several years ago when I was new to the world of the internet and crypto.
But my friends also managed to get big returns from HYIP sites because the owner wrote the wrong reward that my friend should get and made my friend immediately withdraw all his balance.

6. The betrayed scammed. Whether a beginner or an expert, the betrayed scammed has trusted someone (friend, colleague, lover...) and lost his or her funds.

Yes I have been scammed by such a person. It was about an account that I agreed buy. He seem like such a nice person. You can't even tell apart if he is a scammer. So like out agreement I send him the fund. Then he said some work had to be done. So I needed to wait. I though it was okey because it was late at night. The next day I texted him he said he was several ill. Then I finally understood I was scammed. I tried calling him many time he didn't received. In the end he blocked me from both social accounts and my number.

9. The clipboard virus scammed. In that case LoyceV explained that (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5190776.0) :

The clipboard virus happened to me recently. Someone I didn't know texted me in telegram and gave a file. I thought it was a normal file. I wasn't that caution that time so I opened it and everything was fine.

Later when I was trying to make a trasanction every time I put my send address a phishing address 0x******  gets paste in it's place. Other copy paste functions were okey. But whenever it was a crypto related address, that specific phishing address will get paste in the box. So I tried everything to fix it. Fixed registry, restarted clipboard, system restore but nothing fixed the problem. Later I had to completely setup windows again.

I think you missed Ransomeware virus scam. I was a victim of it. All of my data got encrypted due to this malware and I couldn't decrypt my data due to it was a new kind of malware. Luckily all of my data, wallets, key, passphrase were stored in the cloud. So I got saved a big time that time.

So as a victim my advice would be never install anything if it isn't from a trusted source.

Luckily I haven't got scammed so far in my life, related or not related to crypto, but most of the scam attempt I received outside of crypto is the last type, number 11. The latest evolution of this type of scam is they pretend to be from a shipping company and said that I have a package that need to be claimed and I need to check the receipt number in the pdf document they sent. But not a surprise that it's not really a .pdf its an malware app that allow the scammer control the phone, I didn't get scammed of course. I read the article about that scam before hand.

Now, one thing that OP hasn't mentioned and I think doesn't include in any of those list above. A scammer once try to scam me by ordering my service. They said that they are part of an exchange and my payment will be send to the address on those exchange, they ask me to create an account. Long story short I created the account, and the payment in form of Bitcoin on the exchange is actually show up, but when I can't withdraw it, and asking for verification which I should send some bitcoin first to those address. I didn't send anything of course, and probably the amount of bitcoin in the exchange dasboard is fake.

Good experience from the incident of your friend. I think, This is the need to be vigilant and not carelessly connect our wallet to a scam swap project, because there is a high potential for danger lurking. can be rugpull or when your wallet is connected, the contents of the wallet can be drained. Create a new wallet and don't have any special assets for that.

One of the human traits that is easily deceived is that you want big results from the lure of being able to get rich in a short time. Logic and common sense lose because of it. I am grateful that until now I have never been deceived. However, in my country, in the past two years, many have been deceived, including my friend, for playing Binomo and trading robots with the hope of getting rich quickly in the end, all of their funds run out. I was already tempted by them, but thankfully at that time, I happened to have no money to join them. Maybe this is the lesson for me to avoid fraud.

From that incident, I learned a lot from the victims of the scam. In this modern era, we must improve our abilities, improve our reading literacy, and understand the investment risks we will choose. don't let something like this happen again. In my opinion, the understanding of literacy in many countries is very minimal, especially for those who live in villages, that's why many people are deceived in various ways related to crypto.

We should understand that the purpose of investing is not to make someone rich quickly. Because investing must be accompanied by patience and strong commitment and remain calm when the market fluctuates and is ready to take risks. Therefore, every country needs to make an understanding to the public about investment so as not to increase the number of victims of fraud under the guise of investment. Provide understanding to the public about what investment is, what are the objectives of the investment, how about the benefits of the investment.

I have never be scammed and I'm not proud of it, because I know very well that why some people get scammed is because of what they are interested to get with the easiest format, but I'm not seeing that we should not invest in something else but let us not to be much interesting for what we want, nobody that is being scammed 1$ or more than one dollar that is not interested to get the thing is looking for because the thing is looking for is cheap. One of the things that develops the interest of people to be lured into scam is because they want to get things at cheaper particles.

Agree, avoiding greed is the most important thing to avoid being deceived. What we have to understand first is that in every field there is of course knowledge, learn the knowledge as deeply as possible, because nothing can be achieved instantly, nor can you become rich. Even in real business it can (very likely even) make people bankrupt, it all depends on the process. every process there must be a risk.

In my opinion, trading is not something that can be done without knowledge, just like business. And even in business, if what you are chasing is only money, you are greedy without focusing on the process, you could get hurt. that's how.
In the end, everything depends on our mindset and perspective. So be wise in any case when making a decision.

The characteristics of fraud are generally the same and I also almost experienced fraud. Invite acquaintances and he claims to be a successful person because Cypto ends up offering crypto. In essence, we have to seek a lot of information and diligent reading. Do not be easily lured by the lure of wealth.

7. The shitcoin scammed. He/she bought lots of shitcoins on an obscure Pump and Dump group.

Has this happened to you or someone you know ?

We know that most scams happen in the online world than in the real world. So we need the utmost knowledge to avoid them from targeting us so that we don't lose our money by falling prey to those scams. There are many scams that promise good things and then walk away with money in various tricks. Scams are really clever since I have experienced a lot of losses as a Bitcoin scam. I bought a coin according to a scam person in a telegram group and he said it will pump a lot. But I didn't know that coin can't be sold but later I didn't hear any more about the scam person he left me with loss. We've seen many more sheetcoins that got pumped up too much and then went down completely and never got monetized, rather the projects went scam. We have seen FTX and Luna as the most scams of people's money from which many people suffered losses and lost thousands of money. So we should acquire knowledge on our own without gaining experience in this online world and not accepting promises from various strangers. Otherwise, it may be better for us to stay away from those who half-heartedly fool us in various ways with the intention of scamming us.

2, 3, 7 is what I've been through.

And I was also scammed by an impersonator of a relative, I remember when that person stole my friend's social media account and texted that he wanted to borrow USDT to pay fees, of course on a close level with me took absolutely no precautions and sent the money to the wallet address in the message, even though it was a long time ago but it helped me learn a big lesson not to be too quick to believe things on the internet, and now being exposed to certain terms like deepfake it makes me even more wary.

Since I have never been scammed and have never wanted to be, I must admit that when I see the 1, 2, and 3 being mentioned, I'm extremely afraid of it. This is because the best thing that can cause someone to be scammed is greed; if you are not content with what you have, no matter how, you will undoubtedly become a victim of fraud. As an investor, you must be content with what you have in order to avoid participating in any action that will put you in the hands of fraudsters. Additionally, you must exercise caution in all of your online dealings because anyone can message you to ask for your private key or to expose you to something that will cause you to do so. If you are really smart, though, you won't fall victim to scams.

Smartness is, in my opinion, the most crucial quality to acquire since, if you possess it and are exposed to something about which you are unaware, you will be forced to consult others or visit a discussion forum to learn more. I believe that some of the victims of scams are to blame because the majority of them look for places where they can receive free airdrops. This is because a friend of mine who always loved everything about airdrops ended up having his wallet hacked during the airdrop process, wiping out all of his savings.

Especially now, there are lots of free airdrop events and lots of users are also participating because they assume it's free. To get it, you have to connect your wallet, for example using our metamasks to the website, they direct you to submit a claim with the potential for high risk because we don't know whether the website that is directed to the real website or fake website / scam. If the main wallet is used, yes, as you said above.

7. The shitcoin scammed. He/she bought lots of shitcoins on an obscure Pump and Dump group.

This type of scam is very common in the crypto space and most people do fall for this scam. I have fall into this like twice.
That's probably really painful for you and also for all the people who have been scammed with shitcoins in the Pump and Dump group. Luckily I've never been interested in more shitcoins in the Pump and Dump group because those in the group are always making promotions for no apparent reason so I'm not that interested and have even quit such groups in the past. Now, let alone being tempted by shitcoin in the Pump and Dump group, I'm no longer interested in getting close to Shitcoin.

They got hacked because they connect their main wallet to those risky platforms that's why think about doing it and instead using your main wallet for that activity better create a new wallet so that when anything bad happen we can avoid to get compromised since we already do some precautionary measures from those scam airdrops which do that connecting wallet scam to their participants. To many ways to avoid that and always be vigilant on what we are trying to do since there's no reverse or dispute if we get hack.

I have never be scammed and I'm not proud of it, because I know very well that why some people get scammed is because of what they are interested to get with the easiest format, but I'm not seeing that we should not invest in something else but let us not to be much interesting for what we want,

If you haven't been scammed yet, then you are lucky. I think you are quite careful about protecting yourself from scammers. You seem to know a lot about avoiding scams. scammers are very active these days and often hear from people that scammers have stolen their assets from their wallets or they unable to withdraw. We all should follow these methods so that scammers cannot easily enter our wallet. You are right that some people earn more money easily in less time, and it's an easy way for scammers to make money. Therefore,We must continue our investment , but we should follow the methods due to which we can easily protect our capital from the attacks of scammers.

Not only that I am scammed but also a victim of rug pull and hack as well. I’ve got nothing to do but learning my lessons in the past.

Overall I think I have lost approximately almost $40k in scams, rug pulls and hacks combined ever since I have started my crypto journey.

Even though that crypto is still a long way in terms of cybersecurity level, but I always believe in it and I am here to stay. Crypto saved me from financial disaster.

Lost approximately almost $40k in total doesn’t stop me from fulfilling my dreams and keep going. The opportunities are endless here in the crypto space and I ain’t going anywhere.
