I am very curious- why is this issue being told in the first place? LGBTQ has nothing to do with gambling and its effects. In fact, gender should not be an issue to something that is purely for entertainment. I really find it difficult to comprehend the relevance of gender in associating it with casinos. Though this may differ in a physical setting but this varies from person to person.

Though this may be the case, discrimination may manifest in these scenarios but this is applicable in all settings and not just in gambling. I do hope that such discrimination be lessened given that we are living in the 21st century where gender should not be an issue to everything.

I actually didn't think that gender would be an issue when it came to gambling. However, it seems that this problem is more related to individual conditions or comfort, whether gender should be mentioned or not, that gambling which presents uncomfortable conditions is always felt by both men and women.

Online gambling makes for more privacy and there isn't much to do except stare at the screen without the need for interaction with fellow gamblers. This research is based in a certain area but does not fully apply in other areas. In offline gambling there are rules that apply including harassment which will get sanctions for anyone who does it because it includes disturbing order in the casino area. Therefore casinos always provide bodyguards at the entrance or at each table to keep gambling going well.

People aren't prepared to consider everyone are equal. Everywhere there is discrimination and the same keeps certain group of people suppressed. Not the LGBTQ people, most of the people have begun to spend online to avoid the unwanted travel and spending of time reaching the physical casinos.

I've skimmed the article and couldn't find these words... You know casinos only care about money, they don't care if the customer is LGBTQ+ or whatever, as long as not a cheater.
The points being made are:

- They gamble as one of the coping mechanisms because of harassment.
- They pick online gambling because the real-world casino is too intimidating for them, you know they'll meet a lot of people.

Couldn't agree more. Casinos won't care as long as you can bet your money on, whichever your sex is go inside. This LGBTQ has a wild ride for public discussion as if they were not accepted. People will have no choice but to accept them and it's all okay. People have no time to deal with all these. If they wanna do something, no one is stopping them. They have their own community, they have their rights and there are politicians also a member of their community. If they wanna gamble online, it's up to them also.

That's right, because what a casino needs is a customer who has money to play with, not a con artist or some other crook to mess up or destroy his casino.

What they are concerned about is that members of the LGBTQ will be addicted to gambling online. LGBTQ people are very skillful in a way and they help each other AFAIK they do better when it comes to helping and supporting each other. I hope the community will not bring this issue to their friends in high places and ban casinos in the end.

I thought casinos would welcome anyone as long as they have money to burn? :/ Guess that's not the case then. Here in our country, I haven't heard of such a thing. Perhaps in other establishments, this happens, but never in a casino. Everyone is treated fairly, except for those whom they know are out for the night and aren't regular customers. Maybe it differs from country to country. There are countries that are not LGBTQ+ friendly and those countries are the one where we can expect the discrimination. Though surely that there are LGBTQ+ members experienced such discrimination in a country that they didn't expect would happen but yeah I believe it's a case by case basis especially that not everyone has accepted the fact that their gender exists. They would certainly choose online casino as it provide safer environment to them and no one would really know their gender unless they revealed it.

I think this community has achieved much more rights,human rights than us straight through people who happen to run normal families.While in the public,in TV and Internet it will look like people respect them the reality is completely different and this behavior of the stuff of the casino is something not that weird.I don't agree with any harassment to any kind of people but this will take ages to change and for them to have a normal life in most modern countries,where I live no one cares about them,they are totally neutral toward such group and I think the best for them is to continue gambling online where 0 harassment is possible for them,in real life it is difficult for this behavior to change.

me neither. i have few friends from LGBTQ. non of them gambles. they drink and party all the time. they prefer looking for men on dating sites and they end up mobbed for touching sensitive parts. that's their pastime activity during the night after work which i doubt this study.

the others who are not crossdressers are more into working out in fitness gyms. the ones they invest more are real properties.

I mean, the results of the study are quite obvious and only reaffirm something which many already know: that people can be cruel towards those who are different and going as far as discriminate them or even harass them.
It does not only happen with people who have a different sexuality, it also happens with those who have some kind of physical or psychological problems.

Also, depending on the region someone lives being LGBTQ and gambling would not be advisable, because the economical discrimination it would be better to use the money wisely if they cannot afford to lose it. I have seen cases of people who are left homeless in the United States by their parents, just because their sexuality.

it was never mentioned in the article that the people in the casino, the staff and the public have shown discriminatory behaviour towards LGBTQ(though I am not saying they do not experience it). what was mentioned was that "physical casinos can be intimidating for them and some LGBTQ people said that gambling treatment and support services may not be able to match their specific requirements"(which to be honest I would love to be clarified since what do they mean when they said "match their specific requirement").

discussing LGBT now will never end, in my own city more than 90% are straight people and here we are strongly against all forms of LGBT, in offline casinos when you see LGBT people, they will definitely become the subject of ridicule for other gamblers and become a joke.

I thought money is always money especially for casinos where they should not really care if you are white or black, gay or straight as long as it’s legal and legit money. I never thought that these category of people would get harassed in such places ever where things must be treated professionally and eliminate all kind of racism and homophobia.

I have nothing against that community and its people. But every sector of these specific groups and community looks like having their own sense of entitlement that they're discriminated against. How about those normal and no gender bias people that are also being discriminated against?
There's no gender preference in all forms of discrimination. Everyone can be a victim of it, a gambler or not, a member of LGBTQ+ or not as in everyone can be targeted by those establishments and individuals that do like to do so.

I will agree with OP. Country varies and it is very easy for people who are LGBTQ+ to go and gamble on offline casinos without discrimination in a country that it is legalized. In countries where they see LGBTQ+ as an abomination, that is where online casino is very important in their lives as gamblers because it brings privacy and convince for them. Down here in my country LGBTQ+ isn't legalize and these set of people finds it difficult to come out in public with their partners and people will raise up their eye browns. Online line casino is open for everybody irrespective the kind of person that you are. Casinos have to care for their customers in general, and not create sub-groups of customers, what will inevitably end in treating different customers in different ways. That doesn't look good.

LGBTQ+XYZ-... and what else? For a thousand years all you could actually be is a man or a woman, heterosexual or homosexual - that's all there was. Suddenly in the last 10 years all kind of weird shit is popping out. People believing they have no sex, people believing to be fluid and one day being male but another day female, people who think they're both genders at once, old men believing they're young girls... A few decades back you were being hospitalized by having such thoughts, now it's suddenly your right, it makes you special...

Enough with the rant though. I don't think the preferences of sexual deviants and mentally ill people should be taken into consideration.
