Hello I have a problem with my Electrum wallet. After one of the updates in May the wallet cannot synchronizing and connect to any server. I have funds inside and cannot use it. Could you please tell me how can I fix this problem and how can have access to my funds inside.

Which version are you currently using? Since connecting to different servers didn't help, have you checked the "Proxy" tab? do you have the "Use proxy" checked by any chance?

To access your funds, you can install the android version of Electrum, or use Bluewallet.

1. Since you mentioned the problem occurred after update, did you check whether your firewall let Electrum connect to internet?
2. You could use different device to restore access to your funds either by copying your wallet file or entering recovery words.

Hello I have a problem with my Electrum wallet. After one of the updates in May the wallet cannot synchronizing and connect to any server. I have funds inside and cannot use it. Could you please tell me how can I fix this problem and how can have access to my funds inside.

OP, Ensure your firewall is not blocking the internet connection to the Electrum wallet. You will see a red or green circle bottom right corner; if it's red, you are not connected to the server. Click on it, and Check the box Select server automatically (Another way is Tools>Network).

It should work. If it doesn't work as well, try deleting cache data. Delete "recent_servers" file from the electrum data directory. Make sure you back up your wallet before doing this.

If you are using a portable version of Electrum, you might face several issues. Try running it as regular software.

I'm not sure if you are using an Android device or PC but would you mind to try to use VPN or changing your device DNS to Google or Cloudflare DNS to bypass ISP and maybe your router has a security firewall that prevents Electrum to connect online.

I had the same exactly problem a few days back.

Did you choose to connect to a specific server? If you did, Electrum doesn't automatically select another server even if you were to check the box to select server automatically. The remedy for this is to right click any of the server from the server list (unchecking select server automatically in the process) and then select that as the server instead. Do this until you are connected to at least one node.

As others said check your Internet connection and firewall but I would simply import the funds to another wallet even into an Android device by downloading electrum wallet.

As others said check your Internet connection and firewall but I would simply import the funds to another wallet even into an Android device by downloading electrum wallet.
It would be good to first reinstall the wallet back on the PC to know if it would work or not. Setting use a local proxy service or such as Tor to reach the internet as 'no' if connecting directly with IP address, and connect to server as 'auto connect'. If not synchronizing, moving to a new device would be the better option. But I am wondering why the OP has not posted anything yet because I think one of the above suggestions would have worked.

If you have chosen to connect to a specific server and now you want electrum to select a server automatically, all you need to do is make sure that the "Select server automatically" option has been checked, close electrum and reopen it.
If you have connected to a server manually and your wallet is not synced, electrum will select a new server automatically, once you check "Select server automatically" and there is no need to close and reopen electrum.

That's not what happened for me unfortunately. For some reason, it didn't work for me. It only worked when I did the steps that I stated above.

The server that I chose previously was offline and only by choosing another server before using the automatic selection.
Probably things happens like that and I think LMT16 should try your suggestion too.

But on both mobile and desktop Electrum, I connect to inactive servers that made the green icon turns red which means no connection again, I did not connect to any active server, I just check connect automatically and it turned green back on both mobile and desktop Electrum. I even played with it and it is automatically connecting immediately.

Well to me I have a different experience before even I choose or check "Select server automatically” or manually select server the circle was still red I only fixed the issue by changing my PC DNS.

I think there may be another reason why his wallet can't connect since he said he just recently updated it last May there is a chance that he downloaded a fake Electrum from another source remember that below version 3.3.4 are vulnerable to a phishing attack and most of the server there are offline and maybe he accidentally click update and installed a fake Electrum which also has dead servers. So I think it would be safer to uninstall the Electrum first and download it again and verify to make sure he is using an authentic Electrum wallet.

The workaround to spend the funds is to create a transaction even while its offline and broadcast it elsewhere.
Take note that it'll only work if your transaction history hasn't changed since you last synced the wallet.

Here's how to do it:
After filling up the recipient and amount, click "Pay...";
Set a fee rate based from mempool.space since the fee estimation algorithms wont work offline, then click "Preview".

In the Advanced transaction preview, click "Sign", type your password to sign the txn.
Then export it through: "Share->Copy to clipboard".

To broadcast, go to any blockexplorer with broadcast/push transaction feature like blockstream.info/tx/push,
paste the copied signed raw transaction and lastly, click "Broadcast" and it'll be sent to the Bitcoin network.
Electrum wont see it since it's offline but you can query the TXID in any blockexplorer.


For the sync issue, you might have to enable and check the logs and provide more info. (how to enable logging)

Hello again, I managed to sync the wallet after the latest update and from some of the suggestions, also after increasing the message size in the config file.

Now there is a different issue, the Electrum program crashes few seconds after start. The app goes Not Responding and freezes like that.
I found out that there is some AppHangB1 event that is occurring.

I have tried the compatibility settings on every other OS. Also I tried a VM with clean win10 and win7, and there was no noticeable difference.

After the release of 4.4.6 the gui stopped freezing but the sync did not work again, I am uploading a log from the debug session:

Does anyone has any idea if there are any privacy issues with windows that could be blocking the connection?
Or does anyone know how can I recover a multisig wallet with f2a (p2wsh) into a different client (for example Bitcoin Core, Exodus or some other)?

If you have your seed phrase, you can restore it with 2fa code requirement disabled by selecting the said option during restore.
Keep this restored wallet "Air-Gap" to be safe and also for it to not crash Electrum since the issue may be the number of transactions (don't know since the log isn't accessible).
Also with that, the created wallet will contain two of the required keys to "fully sign" the transactions that you'll create elsewhere.

Next is to take note of your addresses from the 'Address' tab (generate more if you think you used more)
and check for transactions and output index (output point) in variety of ways like blockexplorers, or simply through Bitcoin Core by importing those addresses to load the transactions.

Then, it's just a matter of creating a transaction in Bitcoin Core and sign it with that restored Electrum wallet.
The steps differ depending on the route that you'll choose.
