Hello my fellow Naija people, I bring dis topic so that people planning to invest in BTC will know d one that will benefit them either long holding or short holding, because what is good for Mr A it may not good for Mr B based on their believe and strength of holding. Both long holders and short holders are profitable in their investment but long term holders are more profitable than short term holding, which I have witnessed from some potential investors in d community. Long holding require patience and faith before you can succeed from your investment which those investors planing to upgrade from short holding to long holding to ensure they apply patience and faith whenever there is a bear season. Short holders too make a profits from their investment but is not big like d one long term holders are making, because it doesn't need long holding before you can earn from your investment at the moment. If I may ask about long term holders and short term holders, who profit most?  I believe there are some people here who have never experience long term holding but dey want to swatch, what will be your advice to them? Any investment you want to do, long term investment dey get more benefits pass shot term, because you go get high profit more then the person that invest in just shot terms, the issue be say you go just dey patient for it and you go see the achievement.

The only area I have also noticed is that, for a market that is consolidating like we have now, short term traders make so much profit buying and selling in a range. But from simple economics knowledge, which I'm sure we all learnt it in our ss1 in secondary school, we are meant to understand that short term investment is in investment with a time frame from day one to 6months, while anything more than six months is considered as long term investment. So it could be days, weeks or months, as long as it's not more than 6months, it's still short term investment.

I only focused this on bitcoin, just as the OP posted about BTC only. Altcoins are gambling. Although, there could be better ones like ether and bnb, but which are centralized and not what people should support. Either you hold altcoins long term or short term, they should not be considered as investments, they are just the means to use cryptocurrencies to gamble.

Bitcoin do and do increase to all-time-high as usual, but some altcoins failed to do that. During bull market, altcoins may not reach all-time-high again or in time. Some coins are shitcoins and some become dead.

Let me give you some good examples:

Bitcoin increased to $69000 in 2021. Now at $29300
Dash increased to 478 in 2021. Now at $31.80
Filecoin increased to $430 in 2020. Now at $4.2
Solana increased to $259.9 in 2021. Now at 23.17

Most altcoins are still 10 times lower than their all-time-high in 2020/2021, but bitcoin is just not more than 2.5 times lower.

In 2020, bitcoin got to all-time-high above $19600 of 2017. Its price increased to $69000 in 2021 which is the present all-time-high. There are many well known altcoins that did not get to all-time-high at all in 2020/2021.

Like I have once mentioned, your topic is about bitcoin and this can be taken as an investment assets, but altcoins are gambling assets and only use them to gamble.

After a significant bear market and if you are able to risk your money, risking the amount of money that you can afford to lose, there are some altcoins to go for, but not for long term investment except ether, but which I will not encourage anyone to invest on due to privacy reasons and centralization. Actually comparing the two its difficult to say one profits more than the other as they both have their merits and demerits and areas where they both profit its holder or owner, taking for example when holding some altcoin or shitcoin many of them tends to crash after a period of time, and if you are a long term holder you would be a victim of such altcoin, time and financial investment wasted within a short period of time but if you are a short term holder at the scenario you might be lucky to have withdrawn your profit before the coin crashes.
In the other hand when holding a genuine coin like Bitcoin the long term holder tend to make more profit than the short term holder for example bitcoin at early 2015 was around $315.21 per BTC compared to today's price which is around $29332.00 for just one BTC, long term holder would be proud of their patients and profit made.
conclusively I see both very important in the cryptosystem depending on the coin your holding, I recommend long term coin holding when dealing with promising coins eg BTC while short term holding for altcoins.

But according to ur opinion, I hope u realize say @ 2008 BTC cost $0. Then Bitcoin dey added for open source community resource @ 2009 way the  BTC don dey show face 1BTC na $0.0009  while 4 our local money na #16.

For instance,  a short time holder basically does trading on  daily basis which means they taking advantage of the market situations to make more profit by trading ie buying and selling when it is bear market while the long term holders need not do so but are curious of the market as it is likely that they might be running at loss and all it takes them is just patience for the market to recover but for the short term holders it is a daily trading exercise giving them opportunity to take advantage of the market situations.

Short term holders are basically traders with experience and well skilled with trading techniques so you see why they make more profit while the long term holders are just investors who bought with spare  cash and  made up their mind to hold for a long period of time irrespective of the market situations. What it takes them is patience alone.

In all, the both make profit but it is presumed one make more profit than the other.
