Nice work there @OP on calming down your friend.  There are always people who are hot-headed and gut infuriated when they received the one they are not expecting.  In this case @OP's friend receive Bitcoin and since that is not in the option of the thing he thinks he will receive and with lacking knowledge, the guy throws a tantrum, lol.  Due to being furious the guy lost the essense of reasoning and think that receiving Bitcoin(due to lack of understanding of what Bitcoin is) means he get nothing.

Many people lack basic knowledge of bitcoins.
I became interested in this topic when I learned that a friend of mine was so ignorant of bitcoin that he recently received bitcoins from his father, but he had no idea what to do with them. As a result, he tried to reject the inheritance and was spared from having to argue with the lawyer who was reading the deceased father's will, which was being read aloud. Why wouldn't someone, he insisted, give him some houses and perhaps some cash so he could launch a new business?

But while his father decided to give him bitcoins, my friend was furious and even left the house because he believed his late father had given him some money out of hate for him. When my friend came to my house to tell me the story, I encouraged him to collect the coins and learn more about bitcoins, and he was furious to listen to me until I started the show and started explaining it to him. At that point, he was happy and walked back.

Well, that what pretty normal I think, he just doesn't know what Bitcoin is so its probably just a normal reaction for most people, but I'm just kinda worried if he's going to get Bitcoin from an inheritance is probably not going to end well for him since he doesn't know anything about Bitcoin, the first thought that might come on his mind is to sell that Bitcoin for money. You should teach him some of the basics of Bitcoin, I don't know how you're going to do it but it's going to be great if you can make him do it on herself, I mean making him interested in Bitcoin or cryptocurrency so that his the one that is going to do his own research about cryptocurrency, I mean its definitely not going to work if he's not really interested in Bitcoin all of the Bitcoin for sure is just going to be sold, unless his interested on it and his curious about it he might find all of the ways to know everything about Bitcoin. It might even be better if you're going to invite him to this forum because this forum really is a big help for newbies.

It seems your friend has never heard of bitcoin, so he is not happy with his father's decision to give him bitcoin. But I'm glad you managed to explain bitcoin to him, and he seems willing to accept your explanation.

Hopefully, after he hears your explanation, he will accept bitcoins from his father and try to collect more bitcoins. You can also help him know more about bitcoins, learn together, and collect more.

Firstly I will like to ask you if you know about bitcoin, because I notice that you account is a newbie account, you might have stayed long in crypto space but just joining the forum. If you are new to crypto, then it’s better your friend those not accept the bitcoin because you guys might end up losing the bitcoin, which will cause another issue between you and your friend.

Your friend those not know anything about bitcoin, so he won’t even be having the patience to hold for long term, and if you are holding your bitcoin, their are some things you should do to avoid losing your bitcoin, if you don’t know things like this, then you might risk losing your bitcoin. You don’t have to leave your bitcoin on exchange, your funds is not safe on exchange, make sure you get a non custodial wallet, make sure you properly secure your private key and don’t share it with anyone, your friend should be able to hold for long. Am sure there are still many more things which your friend needs to know.

LOL! How embarrassing, before even googling "how to sell bitcoin" he kicked up a storm like a child, and had to be told by his friend about how Bitcoin works in order to calm down. Tall about entitlement ... Some people are left with nothing, some even worse are left with debt after family passing. This guy is complaining about BTC left behind by his father ... So sad.

OP you did fine to teach him how BTC worked, you're a good friend. If it were me I would've seen how long the tantrum lasted until he realized how ridiculous he was being. I do wonder how long it would have went on before, before he had done the very little amount of searching needed to be happy with the inheritance and thankful to his father.

A simple search would exactly tell him what to do with his inheritance, but his temper overpowered him.
That's not a surprise at all as many people will jump to any hype without bothering about asking what it is all about.
Later on, this person will thank his father for giving him some bitcoins as his inheritance.
This goes to show also that people are impatient with new things, they forgot to see what's really in it for them, because it is shrouded by high temper.

Yes, you're exactly right...though to have a high temper over something your father has left you? I think that's a problem within today's society. Most people feel like they deserve something, and like this guy, have the nerve to lose their temper over something they have been given for free. How disrespectful is that to the father? It would be disappointing initially to look down and see the ungratefulness...but yes, eventually it will be fine due to the gratefulness and gratitude for the gift. That should have come no matter what was left behind anyway, IMO.

Having a high temper over anything you are given for free is wrong no matter what it is and from who. Always be grateful and humble, it's much better for you this way than to be a spoilt and entitled brat.

I'm not sure if your friend is truly not aware of Bitcoin or is ignorant since it was been known online and on social media. But putting into such a situation, what you did is right - education seems needed for your friend in order to see the potentiality of Bitcoin and its value. He was too lucky to inherit such amounts but if he got messed up and is not able to spend it wisely, it can be easy to turn to ZERO. Of course, I couldn't think he keeps it all but for sure, he would sell them and what will happen next would be something different.

OP I'm not sure how realistic the forum members will find your story to be. However, I want to know how a father who has passed away transfers his bitcoin to his son via a lawyer without the private keys. Is there a method for your friend to use the bitcoin that his father gave him? According to the tale you told, it is like your friend inherited the bitcoin from his father, which he was unaware of until his father's death, that was when the will was made public and revealed.

Now my concern is, how does your friend get access to the bitcoin and how does he know how much was handed to him? Do the private keys to the bitcoin assets given to the lawyer ? If so, it's admirable and considerate of his father to give his kid a store of value (bitcoin) that will increase in value. Unfortunately, the individual they are doing this for is unaware of the potential value Bitcoin has for him.

Honestly, Bitcoin is not a new word to the world, and I believe that a lot of people should get aware of it, especially educated people who are using the internet, like social media, because hardly you get to one or two social media that you will not see the logo of Bitcoin people discussing the market price of Bitcoin, so I believe the Bitcoin name is painted all over social media and everywhere, but I will not be surprised if you say that your friend is ignorant of Bitcoin; it is possible.

It is not a new thing that people who are ignorant of Bitcoin are rejecting it and are not willing to learn about it. If your friend truly rejected bitcoin, I will say nothing that ignorance can't turn people into, so if someone is ignorant, it can be stupid with any decision it may make at that point of having no knowledge. I will say you have played a big role by enlightening your friend about Bitcoin and making him accept it.

Few years back it was really hard to find something relative to bitcoin, but things have changed alot and it had turned to be very common. By this time people lacking information is really bad. Searching Google itself gives the best results and better understanding about bitcoin. Anyhow OP had done a good work which had helped his friend consoled.

People could've heard much about bitcoin, but very few explore and understand what is it. Even the technically knowledged and people working at information technology doesn't know about bitcoin. This is all because of the lack of awareness and the promotion. With time changes and understanding will be good with the people as the widespread continues.

You are newbie and want to teach your friend. Are you knowledgeable enough to teach your friend?

I doubt any newbiew can teach about Bitcoin and when you are learning, you must be more careful with your words in conversation as if you make mistakes in knowledge, security advice, you don't help your friend but do something harmful.

If your friend inherites it from his father but wants to reject it, why should you engage in?

I am unsure how his dad can leave information about bitcoin private key, seed to your friend and how the lawyer engages in this case. It is risky to share private key in an inheritance document and leave it to a lawyer.

This story sounds fictious.
Being newbie on this forum or having that low rank doesnt mean that they are newbie in real life.New users might have or not have sufficient knowledge about bitcoin and the fact that it isnt really that too hard on learning up
things if you wanted to because there are really that lots of information in correlated with Bitcoin with just a simple search. If you do have a friend who had able to miss out something or make out some bad decisions due to lack of knowledge and since you do have the basic knowledge that bitcoin could be converted to fiat or does have value then it wont really be that needing that necessary technical knowledge on explaining those basic
principles on whats Bitcoin is all about. This is why on the thing that OP made is really that good because if his friend was just ignoring because he's expecting for something like house and money then
he would really be ignoring those Bitcoins knowing that not all people would really be that aware about it. Its a normal reaction but good thing that he had a friend which is really that been concern.

for people who don't know about bitcoin, they definitely won't be happy when someone gives bitcoin because they don't know the price, but for people who know about bitcoin, they will definitely accept it with pleasure, and your friend deserves to be prejudiced against his father and not happy to receive btc because he doesn't know about btc, but I think your op did a good job because you told him about btc.

(....)
This is normal for sure for people who don't have yet any idea what Bitcoin is and especially for a person who doesn't care about any financial things.
For me, it's a good start for the friend of OP that they stated talking Bitcoin, because through that, they will be curious and will start learning what Bitcoin is.

With the development and complete information on the internet.  in that case, if I receive a gift from but I don't know what it is, I will immediately look up its information on the internet instead of getting angry. It's hard to understand his friend's actions. Or is this just an untrue story?  it is also really hard for me to believe this story because bitcoin is no longer a strange thing for everyone.  It is true that many people have yet to invest in bitcoin but that does not mean they do not know about it.

It is pretty hard to understand OP's friend's reaction with our perspective and knowledge about btc. However, we cannot take that from them as sometimes due to heightening emotions we cannot control our thoughts and reactions. Perhaps, the friend was already expecting and hoping for a big sum of money and properties to inherit and his expectations were not met when btc was mentioned, hence the reaction of the friend. Let us not invalidate the story as we do not know the full context. Additionally, believe me or not I still know a number of people who have no idea what bitcoin is, yes they have heard the term but have zero idea what it is about entirely.

It's best not to focus on accounts that are beginners, they may have known Bitcoin for a long time and little by little have an overview of Bitcoin. So focus on the context the OP is talking about, or if you feel senior give more appropriate advice. There is no need to doubt one's intellect because here anyone is allowed to speak.

The important point is that OP was able to save the inherited bitcoin from being neglected, access to the wallet must have been prepared by his late father. When his friend still can't accept it because of a lack of information, but after being given an explanation and how important the value of Bitcoin is, everything can be resolved.

Have you ever heard of a save box in a bank that can be an alternative for someone who wants to save recovery seeds and the one who can receive the box is the heir. A lawyer is already professional so his father appointed a lawyer in this case, to hand over the legacy he left behind.

No matter how many bitcoins he has, those bitcoins are worthless to someone who doesn't have the slightest idea about bitcoins. Your friend's father had enough bitcoins so why didn't your friend's father discuss his bitcoins with his children. And when your friend's father gives bitcoin to your friend he still doesn't tell your friend about bitcoin but what is the reason?

Since your friend's father intended to pass bitcoins to his son, I think he must have discussed bitcoins with his son and how valuable bitcoins are as a digital currency, but you didn't mention anything about it.

Suppose If you can't ride a bike, will your father give you a bike?

I don't know how true the incident is but your friend's father should have discussed Bitcoin with your friend before giving him Bitcoin.

That's because you already know what bitcoin is, its potential and value. But for those who have never known or only heard of but never learned about bitcoin, the fact that they do not need bitcoin is not too difficult to understand. But I agree with you that, when we invest in bitcoin, we should at least share that with our closest people. Don't hide it because without a lawyer our sudden departure will cause those bitcoins to disappear forever with us. That would be a shame because we invest in bitcoin for our children too, not just us.

is he a person who does not play in the world of the internet or social media.? until when he heard that he had inherited from his father a number of bitcoins he became angry and seemed to think that it was worthless, it was really a pity that in the era of digitization he did not know bitcoin.
You help the OP so that he is aware of what is really going on here, maybe you need to guide him further, and I hope for you to give advice to your friend, to keep holding on to the bitcoins that he got from his father's legacy, at least until the halving comes or 2025 which is the 4th year of the bitcoin cycle, so he gets a fairly high selling price.
And it would be nice if you teach him how to invest long term in bitcoin.

Wow, that's quite a story! It just goes to show how essential it is for people to educate themselves about cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. It's like inheriting a puzzle without knowing how to piece it together. Glad your friend eventually saw the light!
