We really can't generalize to every individual. there are people who gamble once in their life, regardless of winning or losing. there are also people who win from gambling, then stop right away, there are various stories in everyone. The point is, it doesn't have to be the same all the time.

What I feel as per my experience is that you get a gut feeling after you make a first win that your golden era has started. In most cases you would win a few more times then you start losing. That confidence is basically nothing but overconfidence when you start winning. For me this is not addiction, but rather leads to 'curiosity'. I strongly agree with you. Sometimes people who started doing gambling are just bored and just want to discover something exiting until they experience the adrenaline rush they get from gambling by risking something like money. So that encourages the person to chase the multiples that he has seen before and hope to get them in the next bet. You are saying almost the same thing with Op, but it seems that you misunderstood him slightly. There is no how anyone will be addicted to gambling if they have not tested the winning in gambling.
Let us assume that Mr, Bob started gambling and from the first day of gambling till after 3 months Mr. Bob has never won any bet. Mr Bob can easily give up knowing that gambling is not his thing.

What made me hooked is the idea that time passes by so fast whenever I play. It's not necessarily me winning or losing anything, but just the overall experience that I have in the casino - with dice specifically. I don't mind losing or winning, really. I would rather run away after winning than continuing after winning  I believe this is the wish of many gamblers who are in a losing spray lol. I have known gamblers speaking like this from their losses that they want to recover some portion of losses. Except a gambler is a chronic addict and the type that wants to have gambling as a source of income, otherwise it is better to exit when the ovation is loudest and that could be when you hit that big jackpot.

Yes a big win can be misleading to a gambler making him to increase his time, energy and funds towards gamble thinking that if he could get such amount of win with no so much efforts he could make 3x of that amount doing more and it's easy to fall into gambling addiction when such mentality is created as you've to start chasing losses believing you can recover and that's a damn straight lie.

A distinct way that can also lead to reckless gambling also aside getting a direct big win is when a close fellow of yours  wins a big amount and when you got to know about the figures you develop a feeling of not doing your best that's why you haven't gotten such big win too, that's where a negative motivation evolves within you if not checked could lead you to turn to a chain-gambler.
