Thanks for this information, your teeth complete
It is better you come to this forum to first learn and also study the way people are posting. These are very important if you want to stay long on this forum and rank up. If you continue to post like this, your posts will only be seen as spam and they will be reported so that they can be deleted so far people do not see it useful.

Thank you so much for this piece of advise, it will go a long way in shaping me and my fellow newbies on how to engage meaningfully in this community so as to grow and earn merits, I have also learnt that I should read and understand a particular topic before engaging others in conversation

You are free to ask questions here as a newbie. We are going to give you answers to your questions.

1. Obey the forum and local board rules

Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
Unofficial General Guidelines For Posting( Na de koko dem)

2. Merit, activity, rank, position and badges

Merit and activity
FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit
Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?)

3. Staking of bitcoin address

As you have already registered on this forum, it is good to stake you bitcoin address. You can do that here: Stake your Bitcoin address here

Staking of your bitcoin address is used to claim the owner of a bitcoin address. It is good to stake it on this forum because if your Bitcointalk account is compromised or hacked, it can be used to recover back your Bitcointalk account.

You can not use an exchange address or a centralized platform address for staking because private key is used to generate the digital signature. You need a noncustodial wallet for it.

Recommended wallets for staking
  • Bitcoin Core
  • Electrum
  • Bluewallet
  • Sparrow

What you will stake are:
  • your bitcoin address
  • your message (you can write anything you like, like your name but including the date you are signing it)
  • and the digital signature

You can stake your address to prove the ownership of your Bitcointalk account which can be important during Bitcointalk account recovery, borrowing of money, trading and changing of address in a signature campaign.

4. The use of the forum search engine for local board

For Google search:
For people that will prefer google search, you can use this for the search:

Code:
<topic title> Nigeria (Naija) - Bitcointalk</topic title>

For forum search:
At the left upper corner of this forum is a search space which you can use to search for topics. You can search for topics to know if the topic is already existing on this forum, to learn from the topic and the whole thread or to avoid thread duplication. But this is more about local board and I will be more specific to let you know how to know the threads that are existing on this local board which is the second forum search engine that you will see at the upper right corner on this forum which is beside 'home', 'help' or 'profile', 'my messages ' that are all written within blue color.

Click on the search -> write the topic you are searching for 'on search for'. At the down part, click on 'choose a board to search in, or search all' after you uncheck 'check all'. Look for Nigeria (Naija) and check ✔️ it and scroll down to click on search.

Before posting any topic or creating a new thread, you can use the search engines to know if there are existing topics already. You can use it to learn from existing topics as well.

Searching if recent occurrence has been created on local board, to avoid duplicating topic

Important info: [Guide] Searching effectively

5. Ninjastic.space

Ninjastic.space - BitcoinTalk Post/Address archive + API
https://ninjastic.space

The main reason I included this is because many forum members said it can be used as a better search engine. All you have to do is to go to the website, click on the menu at the upper left corner, click on posts and search for the topic or post that you want to search for.

Ninjastic.space has many other functions. It is good for looking for deleted posts, checking of users bitcoin wallet or altcoin wallet addresses posted on this forum, even if it has been deleted. It can also be used to look for user's posts on the boards the user is very active, this can be done through the user ID. It has other functions and worth visiting.

6. Signature and Avatar

To add signature, click on your profile -> forum profile information at the left side -> you will see a big space to paste the signature code that you copied. To add avatar, at the upper part of the big space to input your signature code, click on 'go here' to upload your avatar.

To add avatar, you must be a full member. Any rank below full member can not wear an avatar. The higher your rank, the bigger your signature space.

7. How to upload images

To be able to upload image on Bitcointalk, you need to rank up to junior member or buy a copper membership.

Recommended image uploading site: https://www.talkimg.com/
TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk
Guide: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5462934.msg63066374#msg63066374

Other image uploading sites:
Image uploading websites/ scripts for Bitcointalk users

8. Notifications, of new topics, replies, mentions and merits

Replies in this regard means any other posts aside topics. For the forum's notification, the notifications are sent to the email you used to register on this forum.

Notification of new topic
This forum has notification for topics and replies. If you want to be notified of new topic on a particular board, go to the board, you will see 'notify' beside 'new topic'. I am referring to new topic which you can click on to create and post a topic. Click on notify. With this, you will be notified of new topic that is posted on that board. The notification will be sent to your email.

Note: If you do not visit a new topic that you have been notified on a particular board through the email, you will no longer get notifications on the board until you visit the board.

Notification of new reply
On the thread you want to be notified of new replies, you will see 'notify' beside 'reply' (the reply you can click on to make new post), click on it (I mean click on 'notify' that is beside 'reply'. But ones you have been notified of the next post and you do not visit the thread, you will no longer get notification of other replies on the thread until you visit the thread again, but I think that is good because it will not create disturbance.

Ninjastic Telegram bot notification of topics, merits, mentions and replies
If you want to be notified of merits and mentions, this will be very helpful. You can also use it to track a thread, but the notifications may be disturbing if you track a thread with it because as people are posting on the thread, you will be getting the notification of each single post.

Ninjastic bots can now be used for notification of topics.

1. [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+)
2. [SimpleX] BitcoinTalk notification bot (mentions, merits, topics, users)
3. [Web] BitcoinTalk notification bot (mentions and merits) - no app required

LoyceV notifications of mentions and following of users:
The first link will be about notification of mentions. If you are mentioned in a post, you will be notified. The second link will be about you following a user on this forum, in a way that if the person reply under a thead, you will be notified or if the person post a topic, you will be be notified. To enable this, you have to read the second link and see what to do to get notification of new topics or replies of the user that you wish to be notified of.

LoyceV's notification bot (7 days retroactive)
LoyceV's: Follow users on Bitcointalk.org (posts and/or topics)

I have a questions? what are the things newbies should do to earn more merit, and what is the advantages of merit, also and also what should encourage the newbies to get more post.we are new in the forum so we still need, some guide so that we can meet up with our daily post.
E no get anything like "daily post", as a newbie wey no even dey campaign, no be must say you go dey steadily make posts, as a newbie reading better pass posting, because the more you read, the more you go dey learn wetin to post from what you read. E get wetin i notice say e dey affect newbies, and the thing is, dem dey rush, dem wan grab everything in a day, no go dey look some users wey still dey new but dem get penty merits, mind you that knowledge dey different and e get people wey dey understand things faster than others.

Having said that, the best way to take get merits na if you get to learn about Bitcoin and the forum too, e go help you to dey make high quality posts, and na posts like that they give merits. The advantage of merit be say you go use am rank up, and as you rank up dey enjoy yourself for forum, you go fit join signature campaign they earn incentives from your contribution to the forum.

Na true, di best way for newbies to take get merits and rank up na to learn about bitcoin, follow forum rules and di most important na to try to focus on making quality posts. Di only thing wey i go fit add from my small experience for di forum na for dem to get patience, because as a newbie or member, you fit to de try make quality posts, but merits no de come like dat. So for me, na just to de continue learning and making quality posts, gradually merits go come, because if new members focus more on merit and e no de forthcoming, na big discouragement be dat.

E go also de good if our senior members go de encourage di low ranked members for our local board with merits from time to time, if dem see quality posts from di upcoming ones. Except for a few members like Oga Brainboss, most ranked up members for dis our Nigeria board no de encourage and support new members with merits. Na my own experience and opinion be dat.

Your point is logical. I am also a newbie and if someone gives me merit after seeing my post, it increases my enthusiasm for my work. And when legend members explain the guidelines in code, it becomes easier to know and understand those things. However, I am more concerned about whether my posts are of quality than qualifications. Sometimes I worry that I have gone beyond the rules. However, many thanks to the legend members because they are a learning medium for newbies like us. We try to learn by following them. But we are more hopeful that they will help us learn about the forum in a more easy way.
I no know how I go take remove other people write ups for this one here, na @Lembo69 I want to reply to. Seriously bro, as I enter the group or forum,, things wey I dy see here just dy turn my eyes and I no really understand anything. The person wey tell me about this place, explain some things to me sha, but you know say where person never enter before, e get as e dy be. Maybe small small I go get to understand more things for this place. Wetin really be this merit of a thing self, I no really understand am as him dy tell me and as I enter, I begin see where them write merit and some numbers wey follow am. I dy also see, Activity and Post too

I'm a newbie in this forum and I've been observing how things work around here. I've seen a lot of senior members making quality contributions, and it has really inspired me to learn and grow. However there are still some things I'm trying understand better.
For example. How often should a newbie post a day?,
What exactly helps increasing one's activity(quality post, consistency or both?),
And when it comes to merit gaining, what kind of posts usually attract merit from other members?.
I’m eager to improve and become a valuable contributor to this community, so if any senior members can be of help by explaining, It would be very grateful.

Greetings, I say make I ask OoHhh!! Base on my study and what I have read here. I see say na who Post better thing get get merit for him Post.
So what kind of post exactly dey attract this merit. Is there a standard for which the post Most be to attain the merit been given. What's are the requirements for a post to earn merit. I sincerely do need responses. Many thanks.

If you know that you are now familiar with the forum and local board rules and can actually obey all the rules that means you don't have anything to worry about when it comes earning merit within the forum and local board because it is very simple in earning merit, all you need to do is quality post, let me break what i meant by making a quality post, let me assume that you are contributing to any discussion within the forum and local board your contribution to that discussion should meaningful that can convince the reader the points you are trying to make in that particular topic, so once you develop the habit of making a quality post and contributing with convince ideas, you will start earning merits in every of your posts.
Na the full matter u don credit us so; the way you take break this matter make everything clear for my head.

Most times when people  dey say “do quality post”, e dey always be like say na one big grammar wey nobody dey fit break down . But the way you take put am; quality post na just to add something wey go make the discussion dey better; that one make sense die!
Wetin I don still  notice be say many newbies just dey focus too much on the “merit” instead of the value wey dem dey drop. The funny thing be say once person really talk something wey help others understand (even small), people go feel your vibe normally. Na that time merit go start to dey  show by itself gradually gradually nor be one day or seven days matter. Na gradual process oo!!

Another thing be say e good make person understand wetin people dey talk before e rush go reply. Before before, I dey always hurry drop reply or quote  just to “talk something”, but e no dey always  add anything. At the end of day e kon be like say i dey talk rubbish or i dey confuse everybody the more. So wetin I kon dey do be say ;  I go first  start to read and try to understand the angle of discussion so that I fit know where the discussion start from, where e dey presently and where e dey head towards , then I go fit know wetin I wan  talk or add put wey go make brain well well. As I kon dey do am like that I kon get to dey understand am gradually gradually.
Make I still tok something. That your point about “make am habit” na true word. Once person fit dey consistently  add clarity, share experience, or even small helpful charts to take make d post get head, people go start to dey  know familiar with your name gradually gradually.
This  your reply really touch somewhere for my brain. Thank you again for the way you take break am down in simple way. Na this kind post dey help newbies understand how the forum dey work instead of just to dey run up and down dey find merit.

However as a newbie it is normal to feel a bit lost at first the best way to earn merit is by making useful and honest contributions not by rushing to post take time to read the forum rules learn from older threads and share your own thought or experience when replying.
Merit is very important because it help improve your rank build trust with other member and open up more opportunities on forums it show that people find your posts help ful new member should be encouraged to stay active ask genuine questions and focus on learning rather than posting just to meet daily limits with time and consistency posting becomes easier and more enjoyable.

Most newbies have no idea about the merit and activity numbers, so I will leave the link below. They must all understand that regardless of merit, you must still reach certain months in order to earn a specific rank. For example, to achieve the required Activity point to obtain the Legendary rank (only those with the required merit), a user must be active for a period of two years.

Simple! You should read more if you want to become more knowledgeable. You are not obligated to post a certain number of times every day, so don't worry about it. However, keep in mind that your Activity point is determined by the total number of posts you have made.
I’ve been reading through the Useful information for Nigerian newbies thread and it helped me understand the forum structure much better.

I’m still trying to fully understand how posting works here, especially when it comes to quality. I’ve noticed that some members prefer quoting or paraphrasing others, while others write original posts. I’ve also seen quotes that don’t really add new information but still seem acceptable.

I understand that quality post lies in the eyes of the beholder, but I’ve always wondered how higher ranked members personally judge whether a post truly adds value or not. Is it more about originality, clarity, contribution to the discussion, or a combination of all three?
I’d appreciate any insight from more experienced members. Thanks.

Thank you for this helpful information and I must say that being in this forum isn't as easy as I thought it would be but nothing good comes easy so I will have to try my best to blend in, I honestly don't even know where to start from but I guess I have to be my own cheerleader as it seems like no one is here to babysit the other but rather provide helpful information for newbies to help themselves. However, I would like to be carried along as I know nothing about the forum yet but I'm a fast learner. Thank you.

You have just two merits yet and you posted that this forum is not easy. Post more first before posting something like this. It is true that this forum is not easy for beginners but first have more posts.

My advice:
Knowing some people on this forum first is very important. Knowing your Nigerian brothers can he helpful.
Make sure you are going through the posts that are receiving merits
Read what good posters are posting
You really need to be sensitive first on this forum and know what is going on
This forum is not hard for people that did these
But, most importantly, people that are knowledgeable are valuable. Learn everyday.

Post quality is subjective; there is no universal law; it is entirely dependent on human characteristics. The best way to stay relevant on the forum is to either bring problems (ask questions with genuine interest to learn) or solve problems (provide answers to problems). All you have to do is figure out which topics are appropriate and comfortable for you, and you'll be able to contribute positively and gain attention without trying too hard.

You mustn't have Bitcoin technical knowledge or in-depth knowledge of Bitcoin to be relevant here ( there are users building strong presence on the gambling and political boards too) but you must understand the basics and be open to learn more.

I guess this is a mistake, as maybe you meant to say he has just two post/or activity and not merit since he has none.

But, most importantly, people that are knowledgeable are valuable. Learn everyday.

Sure, I remember when I got here newly, it looked though, but knowledge is gotten over time as we keep learning. And one of those precious learning times is reading the post of knowledgeable members of the forum, and just like you mentioned, post who gets merits, and the more he reads it, the more he begins to understand the constructiveness in writing posts. But the bottom line lies in READING, yea, you must read to know. Every knowledgeable poster has value, and every reader of such value might get some knowledge and value shared of they pay close attention.

Reading has always been the fastest way to grow here in this forum, nothing more. Once you are committed to reading, you will quickly grab knowledge and grow faster than expected. At first, it may not seem interesting as there are so many things to read, but you know, a determined heart to learn only starts from somewhere. You know, if you read small today, and small tomorrow, and little the next, you will get to understand that bit by bit, you will acquire some knowledge, and gradually, you are on your way to knowledge and growth.

Get to boards, try reading, discover your areas of interest too, and also read more and then gather knowledge, and so, you will begin to share knowledge too gradually as other will also learn from your contribution in time to come

I have been reading posts of many knowledgeable people in various threads of this forum for the past few days and am trying to learn from them. I also believe that the more I read, the more I will learn. This sector seems to me like studying step by step from school to university and acquiring qualifications. You are right, if we persist and try to learn continuously, then surely one day we will be able to contribute as well as others.
