This topic is similar to the one gantez by titled, The impact of Russian and Ukraine war on world economy. The world watched Putin gather some African leaders for the Russia-Africa Summit at St. Petersburg in July. This was the first of its kind. According to them the aim was to strengthen the economic ties between Russia and Africa. During the meeting they discussed sustainable diamond mining, SME partnerships, agribusiness, energy cooperation, logistics routes, and financial security. What the whole world is observing now is detachment of some of these African countries, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, from the West and they are forming a strong alliance backed by Russia and a some other countries. We already know about the BRICS which include countries like Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Their aim at developing trade and economic cooperation among its member nations. Seeing all of these, what do you guys think will be the impact of the Russian African alliance on the world economy. We know there is no war right now but the rhetoric and tensions all over is being felt worldwide. Would the world economy suffer or would we be fine?

I don't give a single attention about Media and Russia this and that; wasn't United States been friendly to the African countries in the 80s, 90s and early 2000. The Britains where there before even the US until they broke the chain of colonizations to become fully independent and then US step in mill their natural resources but today, what is Africans position in the world today? Nothing!

Forming alliance with Russian was because Russia has something they have, partnerships can only happen when it is mutual for both parties, Putin has what the African have and because he knew US is dependent on them, he became the good angel, belive him at your own peril but that guy is a mecinery, heard they even free the loans there lend to Africa and new partnership begins, who does that? There is something fishy about his friendship but as I said, the media will let you know what you want to know because that's what they do best.

Wasn't the same African countries that are running to Russian were once partners of ECOWAS, they pledge for unity to uphold wesrern Africa but today, it's now in divisions because many of the countries has led a coup that has threaten democracy in the country, how will that work when people's choice is not allow to work. The military are only making mistakes they would regret but it's to early to know that for now.

If we talk about the impact, of course this will have an impact on the world economy, albeit slowly. If you want to defeat the West, don't go to war but destroy its economy, withdraw all countries rich in natural resources, especially mineral and natural energy resources such as oil, gas, coal, nuclear materials and others. Surely western countries are chuckling. And continue to change currency exchange rates in trade transactions, throw away dollars and euros, the western economy will surely be more and more destroyed.

So that more and more countries leave dependence on the west with fair and mutually beneficial cooperation without embargoes, pressure or discrediting other nations as inferior. Putin is indeed a smart leader in fighting western hegemony by attracting many influential countries, especially those rich in natural resources, to join non-Western international organizations such as the BRICS. Attracting many oil-producing Gulf countries will certainly be able to hit the western economy, especially in terms of energy and there will be no more petro dollars in the Gulf countries. Imo, the African-European trade was like modern colonial slavery. From chocolate to nickel, they supply Europe at low prices using a system of coercion and even using children. So they have a cheap supply of Nickel and Cocoa, while HAM and the UN are only calling for an end to fake African slavery. this is a good move for Africa to be independent with the help of Russia, they have a chance to escape European slavery. I support Russia in this.

What is being asked in this topic is "Would the world economy suffer or would we be fine?" when Russia and Africa began to build strong relations in the economic sector so that both of them could carry out several things that the OP had mentioned in this topic, including diamond mining, SME partnerships, agribusiness, energy cooperation, logistics routes, and financial security. But in this discussion you are explaining options for destroying the western economy, even though Russia and Africa are cooperating in several economic fields only to make themselves better than western countries.

The Russian side may have thought of this beforehand because Russia also wants to become an independent country in terms of the economy, which gave birth to the idea of building a non-Western international organization such as the BRICS. So that countries that support Russia will no longer depend on the dollar and will only develop the currency of their respective countries in all international trade so that this might have an impact on the economic development of western countries which are still very supportive of the dollar.

I still don't think too deeply about this kind of thing because things like this are also influenced by the sophistication of factories that are owned in every country in the west. Because Africa probably doesn't have a factory to process raw chocolate and Nickel so that it becomes a more useful item in life, so it's still happening now and I don't think it's because of compulsion. But because the capabilities of countries in Africa are still very low when compared to countries in the West.

It's probably a bad thing for Western countries that rely on raw materials coming from these African nations. The Niger coup and the news of stopping export of Uranium to European countries created some waves already so imagine what would happen if all members of BRICS started to trade among each other exclusively.

We all know the important role of Africa in the stability of the global economy, and it is certain that any possible change in the continent's public policies will have a significant impact. However, in principle, it cannot be recognized that this change will be good or bad, since most African countries are subject to indirect colonization by countries outside the continent.
After the recent Russian-African summit, it became clear that there is a great wave of change taking place in the continent. It is clear that this is not confidence in the Russian ally as much as it is a desire to stop the Western countries' exploitation of them.
Currently, the situation in Niger is what will determine the change in the continent, whether it will continue or will return to the Western bosom.

I don't think people from African countries are fully aware of the implication of a close alliance with Russia and China. To me, Putin and Xi are not truly interested in the development of the continent, but they are interested in taking advantage of the political weaknesses and the economics of those countries to take over in an indirect way and dispose of the natural resources of the African people.

I don't doubt that after this coup, the Kremlin will intensify their propaganda machine in Africa to try to turn as many Republics as possible against the United States and the western model of democracy. Putin wants to count on more Small Russian Federations in Africa.

We all know that these new found alliance is not majorly for economic development or purpose but it may be the aftermath of such coming together. Russia is trying to build a strong friendship outside Europe and America being the one they are also shielding themselves from. Most of what we are seeing in the interest of Russia in Africa was born out of the economic sanctions from Europe and NATO for invading Ukraine. Russia and China are basically wanting to develop a strong unit among other smaller countries while they play the big man role of protection because of their military strength just same role US is playing in NATO and the world. But no doubt such alliance will eventually lead to economic growth from the competition of who is able to influence the Africa continent more. It use to be US and China (in terms of business) but now Russia is coming into the picture and I believe African continent might withness some growth in certain countries but there will be exploitation in certain cases.

Since the Ruble's pretty much closed off to the world economy, I don't think this particular alliance's going to cause some effect towards the world economy. Although the war mobilization and further attacks on NATO nations as well as Ukraine that this alliance could promote could produce some massive detriments to the economy as we steer towards a world war. Regardless, this only means that we should always be wary, and the US should prepare itself for war, cause the only thing we're getting out of this is if either country/alliance stops with their advance, or if they commit to the cause and issue a declaration of war which is more likely to happen than the former. Regardless, let's just hope for the best and assume that these countries are just doing these alliances for the sake of protection.

For me it looks like a well planned strategy for the future. For Russia the geography is not very well settled on the western side due to their ongoing war. On the easy borders they have the biggest enemy that is America closer than we think. This makes them devoid of strategic geography due to the current sanctions.

If they want to build the roads for future preparation then they have India as friendly alliance, and then exactly to the west of India they could have Africa. This gives them immense benefit of friendly alliance, strategies geography to run their operations and invisibly they could this under the name of bringing business partnership with the African leaders. Idk, but this really sound like Russia.  Tongue

I'm sorry to disappoint you. Russia's goals are absolutely not in favor of the countries it is trying to "take over".....
Russia's main goal in Africa today:
- To disrupt the project to bring gas from Nigeria to the EU.
- To create another hotbed of instability where France, the US and other countries will be drawn in to weaken their aid to Ukraine.
- Destabilize the grain market, and manipulate supplies, and primarily to African countries. To create the status of a "savior" and earn additional currency on the sale of grain.
- Gain access to the resources of these "friends" - gold, diamonds, oil, ..... to sell through their companies and receive foreign currency proceeds, without which the russian economy is bursting at the seams.

I think for you it is not a secret and not a discovery that PMC Wagner, in addition to destabilization, is engaged in raiding of deposits and raw materials companies, which "quietly" go under the management of protégés from Russia.

Your listed goals of Russia here are not true you're just terribly vexed for the fact that they are helping Africans chase Europeans who have done more harm than good to them. What are the motives of France pushing ECOWAS to hunt down Niger? Selfish No?
Russia and Putin just strengthened Niger, Burkina Faso and Co to help them fight against Nato and the West indirectly.

In reality the trade between Africa and Russia amounts to very little. It basically boils down to oil and grain, the first is extremely hard for Africa to get hold of due to all the sanctions making it difficult for it to be profitable to export and Africa can probably produce it cheaper right now. Russia's second major export being grain is also blocked in many cases from reaching Africa, due to the economic blockade it tries to impose on Ukraine in the Black Sea, which is rather ineffective but also reciprocated - making the area too dangerous for shipping right now. Being allied with Russia is pretty much a liability, the only thing they seem to be doing right now is creating greater instability in Africa by undermining sovereign governments and supporting rebels to overthrow them for no benefit to the average citizen.

Russia and Putin just strengthened Niger, Burkina Faso and Co to help them fight against Nato and the West indirectly.

Yeah, and I'm not hiding it. Because Russia has already entered my country like this - "we will help you", "we are brotherly peoples, we are your friends", "we will save you from the USA"..... Now we have dozens of cities and thousands of villages destroyed, hundreds of thousands of civilians killed, entire regions plundered, everything from factories and grain to toilet bowls stolen ...
By the way, they are trying to "gift" the stolen grain to African countries" as a "grand gesture". Giving stolen grain is of course a great policy.

And regarding your disagreement with the above mentioned goals of Russia - please refute it with arguments ? And let's discuss this truth, which you don't like, or my fantasies ?

PS Yes, and you can see for yourself what "help in the fight against NATO and the West" looks like. - compare Donetsk and Luhansk region before the Russian world came, and see how the DNR/LNR cloacas live now. The same goes for Moldova and PMR. The same is Georgia and Abkhazia....

It's actually the whole of Africa, and even the world. it's in their own interest to be led by Russia rather than the current US & her allies. Those who refuse are easily doomed unless they are True Christains operating independently.
But this is temporal, in less than 2 years they will be handed over to US again.

In regards to the economy, it depends on the countries, whether they will do what they are told to do by those that lead them, or whether they will do what is right. If they are told to do what is right and they do it and keep doing what's right, their economies will prosper. So, each country can choose to do what's right to prosper individually.

Actually, African countries don't want to be led by other powers, but by themselves. This isn't the 20th century anymore, colonialism is long dead.

That's why they're lining up to apply for BRICS membership, and who knows, it could jump from having 5 to a dozen or two in a very short time. And perhaps even force a name change in the process.

Good point about the long-standing demise of colonialism.
The question is what prevented a lot of countries in Africa, after they got their freedom, from establishing economies, lives...? the U.S., France, maybe Norway or Britain?  Who is it now fashionable to blame for--  their own laziness and corruption ? Smiley
Why is it that some African countries, being colonies in the past, have good economies, high standard of living, stability, good relations with the whole world.
Or is there something wrong with them ? Again the insidious USA and France, to spite the inhabitants of these countries, have created good conditions there ? Smiley

And only a bunch of countries live with coups, seizures, and destabilization, looking for "guilty".

You forgot about uranium. Until recently, Niger supplied 35-40% of uranium ore to France, but now it does not. Against this background, France has serious problems with fuel's safety for its nuclear power plants. Of course, it is impossible not to see the insidious hand of the Kremlin in this. Grin

Seeing all of these, what do you guys think will be the impact of the Russian African alliance on the world economy. We know there is no war right now but the rhetoric and tensions all over is being felt worldwide. Would the world economy suffer or would we be fine?
Africa's economy will improve mostly and be affected by the new changes because many of their resources in raw materials which have been transported across borders to be refined in other countries and create jobs for the people in that country will now be refined in their own country creating jobs for their citizens and sold to the world. For the world economy, it will have a leveling effect on countries that had industries that refine the raw materials from Africa. They will have a reduced supply of raw materials and as a result will be forced to let go of some workers.

Russia understands that looking for business partners is most likely with African countries, this is because besides Africa, almost all of them are allies with the USA, and other points, of course, the market in Africa is still very good, so this can improve the Russian economy, and of course for the world economy. would be a positive thing because it could see developments in Africa.

Russia's interest in working with African countries reflects its desire to forge new partnerships and explore opportunities for mutual benefit.
And in Africa there are many valuable resources and cheap labor, but there are many infrastructural problems and local conflicts. Therefore, it is extremely important for Russia to quickly seize all opportunities that can lead to the creation of new jobs and the creation of new companies.
