It’s certainly your own choice and not for others to decide. Simply because it’s your money that will be compromised if ever you decide to follow other people’s decison.

Personally, it’s always a good choice if you have sufficient amount of bitcoin in your portfolio and a little of established altcoins as well. Because when the bull run happens, it’s not just bitcoin price that will be bullish but also the other potential altcoins too. However, if you are struggling with your funds, then it’s safer to chose bitcoin over altcoins. That way, you will have guarantees to be profitable in the future as long as you intend to hold them tight for long term hodling.

Many people in the crypto market are still uncertain about which type of asset to hold onto for the upcoming growth cycle of the crypto market: Bitcoin or Altcoins. Additionally, they're wondering when to catch the bottom or exit at the peak. As we know from previous cycles, Bitcoin tends to rise first, attracting the influx of funds, followed by new funds flowing into Altcoins. However, holding onto Bitcoin might not yield substantial profits, and determining the right time to switch from Bitcoin to Altcoin for maximizing gains during the growth season remains a challenge.
If we intend to hold Bitcoin, we should already understand our target, namely to get profits at a certain rate within a certain time period. Regarding the enxt bullrun, it is possible that next year will start to enter a bullish phase. And this is an opportunity for holders to set the target of the price based on global cetrain rates.

The problem is that when we are confused about whether to choose Bitcoin or altcoins, I personally would make Bitcoin the main priority. In this case, I will prioritize investing in as much Bitcoin as I can afford. So, even if I want to invest in Altcoins, it might be better if I invest in some of the top altcoins which will probably have quite good potential in the bullrun phase later. And you don't need too many because altcoins will be riskier and not all altcoins may experience an ATH like in the next season. So, be wise on spending your money into altcoins.

If i may advise in this, it is always more safe and profitable to stick to bitcoin investment than including a number of altcoins you're not sure about their existance, as for this coming Halving, alot of things are likely going to happen which will lead to the discovery of so many shitcoins because part of them is the high volatile market whereby some coins will fear and run, some will drop will some will think that's the end of it all because they are going to lack the financial pump to make their project remain when all their investors had left, of you don't want to be part of these categories, then you must maintain bitcoin investment only.

My opinion is a little bit different from others in terms of investment. Personally, I testify that it depends on your investment amount. If you have a small amount for investment, you should definitely go for altcoins. Altcoins here refer to solid altcoins like Ethereum, XLM, Matic, etc. Which is cheaper than Bitcoin and also gives you a good return in profit. If you have a large amount to invest, you have the best way, which is Bitcoin. It is right that the market is full of shite, i.e., pump dump coins, but I couldn't believe that a person who has thinking ability from above would go straight into pump dump coins. Never at all.
Another argument is that investing with a DCA strategy reduces your loss ratio on investment capital. Despite that, many didn't follow the DCA (Dollar Cost Average) method.
We can buy more from altcoins because they are cheap but the question is if they are profitable compared to Bitcoin. The main goal of why we are here is to make a profit, not just the number of coins we accumulate. I'm not sure if $1000 is a small capital or big for you but having this amount can buy Bitcoin already. In fact, you have mentioned the DCA strategy which we can also use in acquiring Bitcoin.

I'm not going to argue with you because that was your preference and buying style, and we are different. But I will tell you that if you are a long-term investor, you'd rather choose Bitcoin instead.

Not putting all the eggs in one basket in my opinion should be investing in bitcoin then in things like gold, stocks, real estate, etc. that aren't linked to bitcoin or vice versa.
- I get what you're saying, so diversifying across different asset classes makes sense. But currently, I'm only exploring the cryptocurrency market. In this context, the strategy of not putting all your eggs in one basket translates to spreading investments across various coins in different sectors. For instance, investing in platform coins, trend coins, or top coins helps minimize risks and trading psychology.
- If you hold only one coin and it encounters issues or, during a bullish season, it happens to be the one growing the slowest, the pressure of holding onto it can be substantial. That's why I'm considering a diversified approach, investing in multiple coins across different categories to navigate potential challenges and take advantage of growth opportunities more effectively.
The strategy from @OP is only for people who already have a lot of experience in investing in crypto.
I'm on the same page with you regarding the complexity of this strategy for newbies. Nevertheless, many seasoned individuals in this market were once unaware of it too. I'm confident that if they come across this strategy, they'll grasp the concept easily and be able to implement it right away.

using BTC as collateral to borrow USD for Altcoin investments.
Nice plan exchanger like Binance offer collateral loan with low interest. so we can invest our money on bitcoin and take some loan by collateral our BTC then invest in Altcoins. Altcoin is much profitable and when bitcoin pump altcoins also pump with Bitcoin. So if the market is good then in this case we will get several times more profit from both investments

BTC Only don’t touch alts
why you advice to not touch alts? Are you too scared to invest in crypto?  Aren't You Aware of Altcoin Profits?  Yes investing in bitcoin is safer than altcoins but on the other hand altcoins are more profitable than bitcoins so if you want to get more profit you have to take more risk.

I would agree with the reason is investing in bitcoin is not as profitable as some other altcoins, especially in the short term. If we invest 1000 dollars according to current price then in bull run if Bitcoin goes beyond its previous all time high to 100000 dollars then my profit is 2x that is about 2000 dollars but if one invests this 1000 dollars in altcoins then it's profit may increase greatly. But we know that there is a major differences between Bitcoin and Altcoins. If the return is relatively low on a reliable investment I think it would be good. Although altcoins have influence in bull markets, they have no dominance in bear markets. So it will totally depend on an investor wish.

First and foremost, if you are not sure yet on what to invest aside from bitcoin, better learn first how this market works.
Just reading here will give you better insights on what alts are worth investing, however, you need to assess those suggestions as they are merely their opinions.
Also, better explore the top alts first rather than new alts as the risk is too high for these new alts as they can easily be abandoned without even hitting exchanges.
You can also read in the beginners section and you will read a lot of good insights when it comes to investments.

Let's be specific, which of the altcoins yield more profit than Bitcoin? If I remember correctly, the profits of altcoins are more when you buy at the early stages not when the market is already saturated, so are you suggesting we invest in ICO? If yes, do you realise that more than 98% of token fail? Is that a risk worst taking?

so if you want to get more profit you have to take more risk.
What's the difference between this suggestion and gambling? I don't think it is wise to gamble with money this way when you can simply accumulate Bitcoin and wait for halving that is happening next year.

There is nothing wrong in altcoins. Why shouldn't you invest in them? in 2020-2021 you could generate a huge profit by investing money in Matic polygon and it was not a shit memecoin, it was a valid coin. BNB was a good option too because that halving was the time of rise for Binance as a trading platform. There are many details that you have to consider because it's not 2016 today when you could 100x your capital in some months via holding bitcoin only.

using BTC as collateral to borrow USD for Altcoin investments.
If you want short term trading with altcoins, you can move your bitcoins into futures and open short or long position while your asset will be calculated in bitcoins. Pros of this method is that if you open short and bitcoin price goes high, in case your short position isn't doing well, your bitcoin's rise will compensate it but cons is that if you open long position but its not going well and bitcoin's price is going down, you'll accelerate go to the way of liquidation.

There are many details that you have to consider because it's not 2016 today when you could 100x your capital in some months via holding bitcoin only.

I am also one of those that finds investing in altcoin more profitable than Bitcoin but it is packaged with higher risk.  There are many decent altcoin where we can choose to invest.  Not all altcoins are shitcoins as some of the members here think.  Bitcoin is good if we want to minimize our risk and look for a higher gain than traditional investments.  I agree that in Bitcoin, in order to get 100x we need to wait for a decade or more while 100x in altcoin can possibly happen in just weeks or months if we are lucky but if not we might lose all our investment.  That is the risk of investing in altcoins.

Investing in both is the best approach, IMO.  The funds can be divided according to the person's likings.

Even though I’m an advocate of diversifying one’s portfolio, I do not agree that holding onto Bitcoin might not yield substantial profits. Unless you’re talking about quick profits, however, over the past years, what cryptocurrency can beat such “substantial profits” offered by Bitcoin? It’s a matter of time for Bitcoin, and for those who want to invest in alts too, be careful because volatility in these Alts can be way more than Bitcoin.

As we have a halving year ahead, Bitcoin will be the best investment. Moreover, the best currency to hold Bitcoin is the most profitable in Bitcoin compared to all other altcoins. Most of them turn out to be scams but Bitcoin will never be a scam and it is the most profitable and risk free. Risky investment is altcoin which can lose you money, but if you invest in bitcoin it will give you profit. However Bitcoin is best for long term investment, but altcoin investment is always risky so it is best and wise to invest in Bitcoin for next bull season.

With the $30,000 borrowed, smart investment in Altcoins can potentially turn your initial asset into $300,000. You could sell the original 1 BTC that you held onto for $100,000 or $150,000. The combined profit from BTC and Altcoins could amount to around $400,000 - $450,000. After repaying the $30,000 borrowed from the exchange, you'd be left with $370,000 - $420,000.
After all this is full of expectation, there's no such smart investment in altcoins, you're only hope the token you invested will going to 10x in bull season.

Assuming the bull season will happen in the next 2 years, if you borrow $30,000 now, you will pay $30,000 + interest rate. Most likely they will use floating interest rate than flat interest rate, so you will pay more especially you borrow for long term.

What if it goes wrong? assuming you will need to pay $35,000 and you lose everything in altcoins, you're use the profit in Bitcoin investment to cover up your mistake.

A phrase in economics says "all things being equal", meaning that if events turns out as it's supposed to be, without any chance of it going wrong. But in reality we know that it is not easy for every event to go exactly as it was planned. Therefore as the OP plans to borrow with interest to fund his altcoin investment, it's a good profitable decision, but what if it doesn't go as planned, then he might end up being worse off than when he started. From my experience, any business that gives you huge profit in a  short term will also carry huge risks of losing your capital, so for me it's not advisable to borrow capital to fund such businesses.

So I'll advice OP to invest in his preferred altcoin, with his own fund, sale your bitcoin and reinvest it in  altcoin, so it goes as planned, he'll reap the bountiful harvest, if not he'll bear the lose Alone.

Bitcoin is considered the best investment in the market because it is quite a safe investment and brings significant profits. But saying that bitcoin is the most profitable and risk-free investment is an exaggeration and a lie. No investment offers high returns without risk, we are bitcoin investors but we need to be realistic. There is no need to lie to deceive others nor does it make bitcoin better. I was once considered a fraud for saying that bitcoin is risk-free and profitable when giving advice to a person. That's unnecessary exaggeration.

You are right, and it is true that Bitcoin is very exciting and has tremendous profit potential, but make sure you understand the risks that come with it, and also have knowledge and understanding of Bitcoin.
Bitcoin can indeed provide big profits, but it also has big risks and no investment is free from risk, and if there were no risks, maybe everyone would not experience losses.
And the general risk of Bitcoin is that high volatility by definition makes Bitcoin risky, apart from regulation, Bitcoin is also still vulnerable to fraud and hackers and other risks.

Absolutely agree! Bitcoin has been off the charts for some investors.  Crazy returns compared to regular stocks and all that.  But at the end of the day, nothing is risk-free when it comes to money.  And Bitcoin is notorious for being unpredictable and

the thing is, you gotta look at Bitcoin, or any investment really knowing that it could make you bank or lose you cash.  I mean, I put a couple hundred in crypto last year and yeah, I made good money.  But a buddy of mine got burned when prices crashed. He was disappointed and sold at a loss, although I advised him not to do so.

So, my point; If you're smart and cautious with crypto you might make out like a bandit. But you could also lose your shirt if you aren't careful. At least that's my take.

I do not deny that bitcoin is the best coin on the market because not only the profits it brings but also the utilities and practical applications of bitcoin are superior to all altcoins. But is it correct to say that all altcoins are scams and do not bring us profit? ETH, ADA, BNB... and even dogecoin have been bringing thousands of percent profits to many different investors. Not all are scams but they are riskier than bitcoin. You should not exaggerate bitcoin and altcoins more than necessary.

Consider bitcoin as a component of a diversified portfolio. As they say, dont lay all your eggs in one basket. Distribute your money among several assets (altcoin, gold and stock too). This reduces your overall risk in the event that Bitcoin fails.

Think long-term as well. The cryptocurrency market is new, erratic, and volatile. It takes more than just timing the market to succeed; it takes time. It might be more fruitful to endure the ups and downs rather than attempting to ride the high wave. Recall that in the realm of investments, persistence frequently yields greater returns than hasty profits. Your friend's passing serves as a warning: panic selling frequently results in regrets. Remain composed and avoid letting the hype surrounding cryptocurrencies influence your decisions.
