So the dominant sports in my environment is soccer because of it popularity and it doesn't take much to start playing football, so however people tend to love more on the kind of sports they can even do themselves.

Some countries are very strict about animal sports. There's more to it than just being sensitive. It has to do with morals, ethics, and ideals. But let's be very clear: professional horse players are pros who know what they're doing. These people don't get hurt easily, no. Everything is checked twice, including the tracks and the horses. Betting is a game, a very important game. And, as you said, a very small amount is fine

It happen because you are not interested on that sports. Even though media hype that sports because they always get a huge scope there are still people have their own preferences especially if they are exposed to that game rather than those what media always shown. That's why other sports exist just like what we see on Asian games where we see a lot of athletes playing on different category which is not displayed on the mainstream. Exposure on environment what can catch your interest and since to many people watch television they always see the top sports and love it.

Sometimes its good to ride with what is the current sport trend on your country since it make you feel updated to latest discussion related to that situations. Unlike if you just hate those sports and separate yourself to people discussing about it for sure you will not get good interactions with people around you.

I think environmental factor is also a contributing factor to the popularity of a sport. Let us say for example, in a society where there are no horses, do you think the people there would pick interest in horse racing? the answer is definitely no because they have no access to horse and that would not even entice them rather than what they know that is common which is the normal soccer and other sports which can be easily made by man. Like in my country, you would hardly see horse on like other countries where you see horse so often and they  have access to it and therefore can do sport with it. So what I am trying to say is that people are very sensitive to the environment in which they belong and also tag along to satisfy their desire as well and when it comes to sport, same is applicable.

Indeed, in my area here in Nigeria, Horse race and Dog race used to be very popular sports to bet on till around 2015 or so, i remember a friend mine playing and winning some really nice amount of money from dog race at the time, he actually had a bet or two on both horse race and dog race, luckily for him, one of the bet on dog race paid off, he a won a nice sum of money, but like most addicted gamblers, he didn't do anything good with the money, he still spent everything playing the same games.

That depends on the country, there's probably not a lot of horse racetrack in your country so it's not as popular or there's probably a lot of track but the betting would probably be needs your physical presence and given the current climate on animal rights, there's a lot of people on the Internet that are against any form of human entertainment that involves animals so they're  probably staying off online, if you actually know where to look for, you can probably find a television channel where you can find horseracing. Horse racing is basically a vintage sport, it was very popular back in the day when people used to take a lot of interest in the sport. I know that there are still regions where there is a lot of interest in the sport, but that's not the case everywhere because horse racing isn't as widespread nowadays as it used to be before. People are more into modern sports these days like football, cricket, tennis, baseball, boxing, and a lot of others that are loved by a global audience.

Yes I have read about horse race for long before even becoming a member of this forum and at some point why the game was popular in the ancient time is because then,  there was no online casinos to provide alternative to physical casinos also in the ancient time,  the rate of development was low in terms of infrustural development and this made it easy for the horse racers to have enough free land to conduct their tournaments freely without any interferences but things have changed now and such activities is becoming unpopular with many now migrating to online casinos.

I have never watched or gambled on horse racing in my life, this is something I only know from movies. To me it seems that it's very different in other parts of the world and it depends a lot on the country you live in. In the biggest regional city near my hometown, we don't even have a race track for horses anymore, it got removed 20 years ago to build more houses. It's also very rare to see horses in my country, there are few people who keep them as pets and ride them for fun, but nothing competitive or professional. Same goes for sports like Polo, it's not common over here and people are also not interested anymore in betting on it. Maybe online this sport could attract more people, but I am a bit sceptic. At least for me I wouldn't start with horse gambling anytime soon. I prefer to bet on sports that I know and where I have an advantage, with horses I know nothing and I don't see myself becoming successful with it.
