I know that, they're not exactly the same countries. But what I want to say is that it's necessary to invest in young players. It's not necessary to turn everyone into a great player, but those who want to be players should be well encouraged and supported so they can develop well. This way, the Chilean national team will be great again in the future.

I totally agree with that and actually many countries and even small teams are creating a sort of academies to improve the performance of the young players but also to detect them rapidly and to sell them if they have talents, keep those who aren't that top but could improve the local team and let the others move to a weaker club.
This method is working well except the fact that it comes with extra fees and many poor talented players could not be included there, so they have to go throughout the normal way unless they cannot afford shoes.. Yeah it is sad but it's the truth. Chile or even Brazil have to take this point in consideration.

Yes, this has been happening a lot around the world. The problem lies in the big teams that end up competing with each other and inflating the price of players significantly. I recently saw a Portuguese team paying millions of euros for a player who hadn't proven himself at all. And if he weren't playing in Europe, or in a South American country, he would never have such a high price. The big problem is this inflation caused by the Europeans. Besides, this method works very well and has proven itself over time. It's no wonder that so many good players are revealed at the World Cup.

At this point I feel like these players are doing it more for themselves rather than for the team. Neymar pretty much stopped being a football player years ago, he's constantly injured. Messi plays without even running. I loved all these players but there is a time when they should say it's enough, and the worst thing is that the managers don't have the balls to drop them from the team, they are almost hostage of these big names.

Man Chile has his golden generation in the years you mention, they won that American Cup both with luck in penalties against one long losing streak Argentina, after that Chile never again produce any good player and that golden generation start to retire and the replenish of the team never ever arrives so they comeback to their normal bad form.

He is right, for me Chile's first team was there when they won the Copa America , after that they started to falter, it is difficult because now they rely more on their experienced players, what happens is that football today is very fast and abroad, now things are getting tougher in South America because we have Argentina who have a machine team, on the other hand Brazil , this football is too competitive, for me the most difficult, that is why Chile still has not Been able to get ahead not even with coach Pekerman, who is very good.

I agree with you, sometimes the presence of star players whose performances have started to decline due to age or injuries puts managers in a difficult position. Fans will criticize if the manager puts Ronaldo, Messi or Neymar on the bench. When they are called up to strengthen their respective national teams, it means the manager must guarantee playing time for them.

On the other hand, they are no longer the same players they were a decade ago, no longer as consistently reliable to score in every match, even though their mentality and leadership no need to question it anymore. I also really like the team's independence without the big names; it creates new leaders within the team and allows them to have more synergy with each other. But obviously, without these key players it will be more difficult, but as he himself said, they are already qualified and can very well try new things.
