I would advice you act wisely, crypto-currency is unpredictable and Bitcoin is not left out, have a plan you can start with that amount you are good if lost(not saying you would lose your funds) but start small and grow your Bitcoin portfolio .
Are you sure that bitcoin is not predictable? People on this forum predicted bull run in 2020/2021, they predicted a massive bear market in 2022 and they predicted mild bull run and bear market in 2023. It all occured as predicted. Bitcoin has been so predictable but what you can say is that it is a volatile asset. If it is savings, it is different from the money that would be used for daily living and securing it in bitcoin is a good idea when the price of bitcoin is low like this time.

If you had research on the bitcoin, you may come to learn about the fact bitcoin will have their next halves in 2024.If you don’t aware the concept of halves,I will explain the same.In every halves, the price of bitcoin will reach the new all time high.So many long term holders of the bitcoin was waiting for the 2024.Mostly the price of the bitcoin will reach the  new all time high in the halves. So if you want to buy bitcoin based on the next pump, now it’s best time to inverse your money in the bitcoin. If you holding the money in the bitcoin, you should hold few months for the good profit.

In 2016 when I was a kid, this coin got in stuck in my mind but absolutely everyone around me was telling me to forget it, it's scam, it's online shit, I shouldn't study it and should move on something else and finally ended up working hard absolutely every day for years to migrate in Canada to learn in university and pay high tution fees.

Finally, I finished the university and gained PR but the money that I have spent in all of these makes me cry every day. If it weren't my parents, I would invest in bitcoin in 2016-2017, I would be a millionaire today. I totally missed 2020's boom because of my situation but now is the time in my life where I stand on my feet, not strongly but I stand and manage to live and save some money. As I see, there are guys on this forum since 2015, they are here still today, so I want to know your opinion and want to hear your advice about Bitcoin. As we all know, halving is coming. Should I invest my savings in Bitcoin? Or should I lean towards altcoins this time? Which one? I don't have health problems and don't have to worry about job security but it would make me sad to lose all the savings but life in Canada is getting expensive every fucking day.

I believe that you should not dwell on things that could have been or should have been. Also, do not blame your parents, yourself or anyone else for missed opportunities. Obviously if they knew what was going to happen, they would have let you invest every penny into the coin and probably would have asked you to invest their money, as well. But the truth is that nobody can predict the future and nobody can predict "unicorn" investments. So don't be so hard on yourself.

Trying to predict an amazing investment of a lifetime is like trying to predict tomorrows lottery numbers. Sure, you might or might not get lucky but the odds are definitely not in your favor. So, from a standpoint of probabilities, you did not have much of a chance to become rich anyway.

Personally, I do sometimes feel bad about not investing in Bitcoin sooner, even though I knew about it in the old days when it was worth mere dollars. But, whatever. Nobody can see the future. Roll Eyes Tongue

Going through your story, I learned that you are regretting why you have not invested in bitcoin all these years, but the truth is that you have not get to much known about Bitcoin then, and by the way, you claim you are still a kid by then, so I will just tell you to stop blaming yourself because it is not the end of the journey of Bitcoin because I believe Bitcoin is here to stay with us, so I will say you still have a great opportunity to invest and also an opportunity to make profits from it.

As you said, halving is coming, and everyone is expecting that to happen in a few months. After halving, we are expecting the price of Bitcoin to start moving upward, but nobody can say if maybe the following month or two months after halving the bull run will start. So for anyone that has money, this is the best opportunity to invest because the price of Bitcoin is in the range of $26k to $27k currently. The reason I said this is the best time to invest in Bitcoin is because during any bull run, the price always do 2x or more according to Bitcoin history.

In addition, reading that you are seeking for people's advice on whether to invest your saving money in bitcoin or not, I don't think anybody will advise you yes or no because nobody can actually predict bitcoin, so the answer should be yours. Do your own research and decide for yourself, but my advice for you is to invest what you can afford to lose.

Don't regret that you weren't early investors, because based on circumstances, sometimes we have to ignore what we really want. And sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do. It's more beneficial to focus on your current situation and make the right decision. For investment, I would really prefer Bitcoin, because altcoins are highly risky compared to profits. But if you really want to accumulate some alts, then you may divide your portfolio like 50/50. You must choose altcoins from the list. Investing in shitcoins may cost you a lot of money.

Nothing really lost. Just assume that you were a kid in 2016 and that's why you didn't buy any bitcoin at that time. Don't you realize that if you had invested in bitcoin at that time without having a basic understanding of how to secure your crypto wallet, you may have lost money or been the victim of a scam. Can't you see that now you do understand bitcoin, you are indirectly hoping for the bull run to occur. If you had purchased bitcoin when you were younger, you would have by that point sold it at a discount along with other investors.

Therefore, you should start using the opportunity presented to you this year as an adult to use it to invest in Bitcoin with your spare money instead of dwelling on the missed opportunity to do so when you were a kid.

There's something I am not getting correctly op, you said you were kid around 2016 and you joined this forum since 2016 correct me if I am wrong. And now you came to asked if you should invest in bitcoin or altcoin after having 55 post in this forum you still don't come across a thread or topics that talks about the best coin to invest and how to manage your risk, including how not to use your live savings to invest in bitcoin?

Let's keep that aside, again you said of not wanting to lose your entire savings but you want to became rich through bitcoin don't you know you must first accept the risk that associated with every investment before you could move further? I said it right there are some people who wants to invest in bitcoin but doesn't want to loose rather wanting to be at the profit side of the investment.

To let you know, only thing that could give you the profits you needed is to hold for long time and this doesn't guaranteed you that your asset will remains the same, normally when it comes about bitcoin investment you should know there are two things you can't do away ( the bullrun and the bearrun) this two seasons comes after each others and you must experience it.

Then lastly if you don't want to involve yourself fully into investment then I will suggest you implore DCA, that buying little by little until you keep accumulating enough volume of bitcoin maybe this may minimized your chances of losing huge money while doing DCA.
Keep in mind that you must have a reserve funds to help you otherwise you could panicked and sold off your holdings whenever there waving from the whales in the market.

he should thank his parents as he finished his university and already has PR status in canada. now, he can find better jobs if he wants to. this market should not be look at main source of your income because the likelihood of losing is always there.
and that is true, if he invested way back in 2016, high chance that he got screwed because so many scammers out there. maybe, he's only considering with btc, however, he won't know his decisions back then.
as he has degree to find good jobs, even if he lost in this market, he has something good back-up as he is already educated to find better alternatives.

No time is the best time to start, and no time is the best time to profit; to me, any time is the best time to enter; it all depends on when you get your hands on information or when you are ready to get started. Because you had information about Bitcoin years ago but did not make up your mind to invest in it due to some circumstances, this should not discourage you now. You can still start now, and your start-up today will be a story to tell in times to come.

On the aspect of thinking about which coin is the best for you to invest in, I will tell you that those are based on what you actually want to do; here, we might give you advice based on what we feel is the best, and this rating is a result of bitcoin's having proven itself worthy of trust, adding to the fact that here alone is a bitcoin forum and it's filled with bitcoinners.

When it comes to altcoins, you have the chance of doubling your funds invested in them in a short period of time, depending on which altcoin you luckily lay your hands on. There is also a possibility of you losing everything as a result of chasing profit in the short run. For the time being, once you have accumulated any amount of bitcoin and decide to hold it for a long period of time, it's just a matter of how patient you can be. Even when the price goes down a little bit, there is still a higher possibility for you to get back everything with extra profit if you are determined to hold for a long period of time.

But it's not always the same with altcoins, as many have proven to be seasonal, and they happen not to last very long. If you hold them for a long time, you might end up not even being able to sell them off ever again in your life, and they will turn out to be a complete waste of investment.

There will always be a bull run in time; it just depends on how much longer you are willing to wait till the bull run comes, as the actual time for it to come is never certain.

Since you appear to be in good health and believe that you won't experience any issues that would force you to sell the bitcoin you purchase, I advise you to invest your money in bitcoin. In the past, you have missed opportunities to start your investments, so I don't think you should allow the same thing to happen this time. You can start the investment now, and if you keep it, I don't think you will be able to save any money. Either begin investing now and you will undoubtedly make money when the time comes, My suggestion to you is to invest in bitcoin rather than any altcoins, since you have sufficient knowledge of it already. You may start investing your money now, buddy; don't wait for much more time.

There's no assurance but most of us here are speculating for another bitcoin bull run 1-2 years from now. If you are struggling with your daily expenses in Canada and you are serious about investing into bitcoin, I suggest to do a dollar cost strategy. We all have regrets on not buying bitcoin on it's lowest, I suggest to just move on and accumulate as much as possible since we can't bring back time. We can only use the past as a reference to the investment we can make today. I'm positive in investing on bitcoin personally but don't expect profit that bitcoiners made from the past.

Should I invest my savings in Bitcoin? Or should I lean towards altcoins this time? Which one? I don't have health problems and don't have to worry about job security but it would make me sad to lose all the savings but life in Canada is getting expensive every fucking day.

If you want the safest investment in cryptocurrency then go for Bitcoin.  Since Bitcoin has the highest liquidity among cryptocurrencies and is more likely to have an uptrend every 4 years due to its cycle pattern.  Altcoin on another hand may give you a higher yield but there is also a high possibility that you can get scammed and the developer will run away with your money.  If you like the mixture of both you can diversify and put investment in Bitcoin and at the same time, time-tested altcoins like ETH, Litecoin etc.(those at the top 20 of the marketcap)

Op, majority of the people will indeed ask you to choose bitcoin over altcoin which is the right thing. But of you have an inclination toward altcoins, it is also good that you divide your portion 70:30 or 60:40 while bitcoin will constitute the larger one, altcoins will take the remaining. It will now be your duty to research for one or two altcoins that you trust will do well in the coming bull run and invest in it. You can use a dollar cost averaging method to invest if your fund is not sufficient to buy once.
So, your answer is gotten before you asked. You cannot expect altcoin to win bitcoin in the bitcoin forum.

I am not going to suggest anything in this case whether you will do it in bitcoin or altcoins because in the end all decisions are on yourself.
If you really believe and still expect the same thing in bitcoin as the regret you said for a few wasted years then invest in bitcoin but if you really want to be in altcoins then it's back to you because all actions have their own risks.

Don't rely too much on the opinions of others because you have to focus on your goals so that with that when the decision has been made you will not regret it again in the next few years and do not let you feel limited by the opinions of others and regret not buying your choice this year in the future as you do now because you are limited by the opinions of your parents before.

The first thing is that those questions you ask and the context of it make me think that you are not clear yet, neither with bitcoin nor with life itself.

The information is always the "key", so, it leaves me a little disconcerted when people talk of bitcoin as if it should have been "Noah's ark", the economic salvation of all.

You can to review the available investments that have existed in the 20th century and those of the 21st century, thousands, some have achieved success, others simply have not, or some others are in a cycle of opportunities, typical of any type of investment, so how do you know?

You have to invest money that you do not need for your basic life plans and paying your tuition fees is that type of money, it is the secure information that your parents handle and decided to invest in that.

If you want to know what to do, just make the right plan, do your research well, raise awareness about the investment based on your life priorities, what is currently happening with bitcoin may be in one of the stages I mentioned, a cycle of opportunities.

Then, how to know it, In any case, always keep in mind that as I said, the only investment available is not bitcoin, it seems that everyone now understands investments because bitcoin exists.

Finally, don't criticize your parents, they made the right move.

Migrating to Canada and getting an education was much easier than trying to become a Bitcoin millionaire.  You likely would have been scammed out of your hard earned money by Ruja Ignatova of OneCoin or BitConnect or maybe The BitClub Network; even if you avoided those, you would have stuck your coins on an exchange (one that would ultimately lose or steal your coins) and tried to double them by day-trading eventually ending up with sweet fuck all while still living in a shitty country.  The odds of you being able to buy enough coin from 2016 and making it to millionaire status today were slim to none.  The best investment you made was in yourself - you are now employable and living in a fine country; you should thank your parents over and over again; maybe take them out to a nice dinner in Canada several times per year and hug them often.

The average bitcoin price in 2016 on a weekly closes was ~$US$568  the maximum price bitcoin achieved (weekly interval) was ~US$65,500 so about 115X.  Keep that in mind and then think how you could have studied in Newfoundland and Labrador for CA$9,321 in 2016, saved over 50% in tuition fees and put the other 50+% into bitcoin... but no! you chose to study in BC and spend CA$21,700 or in Ontario and spend CA$29,921 on tuition.  Either way that would have been CA$12k or CA$20k you could have put into bitcoin which would still have been worth either CA$1.38million or CA$2.3million.  I'm just trying to demonstrate that we can all play the hindsight game.  The fact is, you had options so don't blame your parents for your perceived failures - own them.

Whatever you plan to do now, you have to be able to invest the money and not think about it again - you can't be worrying about how to pay the rent or buy groceries because you have to live.  Set aside a percentage of your income your comfortable with, get yourself some professional investment help (probably not from bitcointalk), stay away from debt - it'll suck you dry.  Lather, rise, repeat.  Oh, take two jobs - you'll have less time to spend your hard-earned money on frivolous things like 60 Gb internet on your phone, Stray Cat concerts, over-priced Starbuck's drinks or boba teas (make sure you set aside enough of the take-home pay from job#2 to cover your income taxes and DO NOT invest it).

I believe bitcoin could 10X from here but that's just my opinion and opinions are like assholes - everybody's got one.  Good luck!  Tell your parents xhomerx10 thinks they're awesome.

You wont really be having those kind of worries if you are really just that investing on the amount which you can afford to lose because if you have put up your life savings on it then for sure you would really be having these kind of reaction on which it is something that you should really be a avoiding on having that all in. Market would really be composed of bearish and bullish movement and there would be times that it would really be having consolidation. Doubts would raise if you do long time experience on having that sideways movement on which it would really be molding those questions in mind that what if the market wont be able to recover?

These are the main things that you would be having in mind on the time that you would really be experiencing these kind of long time sideways movement. Hesitances and doubts will really be there
which we cant really blame them out because we are just humans and we are really that emotional when it comes to money specially on losing it.

Yeah It's always a question of when but for sure there will another bull running for crypto. This isn't going to be a 'stuck market', we all know it's been volatile. It reached a very impossible all time high back then, not mentioning how many economists said that it won't reach above 20K LOL. But then again we have so called factors to call in the market, crypto has never been as huge as we have it now, so taking another step would take time. If you only wait for the ride, then that won't be very easy you might need your money for personal purposes so I suggest trading crypto with reserves so you'll have rounds when we launch to the MARS.  Cool
As you have said, it won't be easy to do it and you must also be very patient on what you are doing right now because as you have know where other people are weak when something is happening that isn't good for them like price decreasing which will force them to sell unlike others where they didn't sell their own assets or you know it as FUD. If a person doesn't have great patience then he/she will be most likely get affect from others who spread FUD.

Should I invest my savings in Bitcoin?
If it is your life savings before investing think of it for many times if you can bear to invest with the fluctuation that happens on it every single minute.

Or should I lean towards altcoins this time? Which one?
Better to go with Bitcoin first if you're starting out. But you'll see people to suggest you the top altcoins like Ethereum.

I don't have health problems and don't have to worry about job security but it would make me sad to lose all the savings but life in Canada is getting expensive every fucking day.
The best approach you can do is to DCA. Every payday you can allocate a percentage of your salary and you'll do that continuously. Don't touch your savings if your lifestyle there is unsure and you have to bear with the inflation daily. Just DCA and buy it whenever you wanna buy or set a schedule like every payday, every week or every time you're comfortable to do it.

First off, don't take advice from those who aren't or haven't been in the situation you're or seeking to know. For instance, you don't go seeking marriage counseling from someone who's not married; whether they're priests or not. I don't care whatever appendages they add to them, once they aren't married it's wrong choice for me. It's like going to seek automobile advice from someone who doesn't own a car and isn't a mechanic. Despite the depth of their theoretical knowledge on autos, it won't equate that of someone with a first-hand experience on it.

If it weren't my parents, I would invest in bitcoin in 2016-2017, I would be a millionaire today.
You should quit blaming anyone for your ineptitude and lack of decision to invest in Bitcoin then. Blame yourself. The fault is yours. Don't make anyone the fall guy. If your story is genuine and you continue to harbour this mindset of blaming others for your failure (when they clearly aren't) you won't be able to move on. The time is now again to invest in Bitcoin. You've got another opportunity.

As we all know, halving is coming. Should I invest my savings in Bitcoin? Or should I lean towards altcoins this time? Which one?
This is the same thing I observed above. You've been in this forum since 2016 and have witnessed two Bitcoin circles (from bear to bull) while you're here, yet you're still foot dragging on the issue and asking random strangers if you should invest in Bitcoin or not.
