We are not financial experts but that's not a good idea to put all of your savings into Bitcoin as we all know Bitcoin is very volatile and we are not sure if this coming block halving will be the same as what happened in the past.

In response to your topic matter OP. I can boldly say this that Bitcoin will outperform it's current market situations to a greater expectations as it was before now. If you may wish to know this, Bitcoin is still at its early stages and this alone is the reason why the boom is still expectant.
Moreover, it is known that after halving, there is always price surge in Bitcoin and in less than some months from now Bitcoin halving would take place. So if you can, now is the right time to hop in and make your purchase but note that the market is volatile and you should do investment with what you can afford to loss. History has it that after every bitcoin halving the bull run follows and bitcoin increases with at least 2x of the existing ATH. This will actually give you hope that such thing will happen again and investing into cryptocurrency will be tempting but I want to tell you that even with that history no one will certainly tell you that this coming halving will yield same result and as such experience investors will tell you that the first rule of investing will be to invest with an amount that you can afford to lose. With this even if the anticipated gains doesn’t happen you can still leave off your coins and expect a better return in future. But investing with your savings seems risky to me because from your post this is not an amount that you can lose.

I will also advise you against investing into Altcoins against bull run because there is nothing like a guaranteed return on all these Alticoins even the top rated ones. They can go dump anytime even before the bull run comes. So without the certainty of it not dumping you should stick to bitcoin that is guaranteed of not totally dying. Alticoins are know to increase highly during bull run and as such people lean towards it just for that. Your skepticism about the BTC at that time was right to some extent because, many people faced a lot of scams and hacks, and the MT Gox scam was not that old then, (Only 2 years old) I know that's old but it is enough for haters to spread hate among newbies using such events. There was not boom in 2020 instead the latest ATH was in 2021 after the halving in 2020, maybe you are referring to that period by calling the halving event which took place in 2020 but I think it is better to name the correct date which is 2021.

I am not among the members who are here since 2015, but the answers to your queries is simple, If you have the knowledge about BTC and do know how much potential it has then you might not ask these questions but still if you have asked them and also asked that either you have to go with BTC or ALTs then I doubt you trust the BTC system. Because money is not everything, but if you are after making money then for quick money you can go for ALTs, because they are more volatile but if you are after a good and less risker investment then BTC is best choice here. But you have to be sure that, the ATH will not be sure after the halving. As bull run continues for hell lot of time.

In the previous halving, the bull run continuous for like 6, 9 or 12+ months. Means the ATH was made after that much months. So, you have to invest with clear and educated mind other wise you will fall prey to market sentiments.

I can understand your feelings because I am also a student and I have planned to invest in BTC too with the savings I have. But no one can tolerate losing all of their savings by making some dumb mistake. And before making that investment, one must think for a second that, either he has to invest the savings or not, and in that tension, you make this topic. Put every option you have in front of you, and then try to decide according to the resources you have. Then you will think more clearly and can easily make a decision about whether you should invest in BTC or not. Invest on what you can afford to lose as always as this had become that standard when it comes to investment means on which you would really be considering out before making step. Yes, even myself did miss out those
bull runs which i have might be able to consider myself millionaire if it wasnt the reason that i had spend out those coins so easily into those days because of primary needs on which i didnt really have regrets though but some point i would be having those thoughts that what if i had saved up a little portion of those coins on that particular years? Yeah It's always a question of when but for sure there will another bull running for crypto. This isn't going to be a 'stuck market', we all know it's been volatile. It reached a very impossible all time high back then, not mentioning how many economists said that it won't reach above 20K LOL. But then again we have so called factors to call in the market, crypto has never been as huge as we have it now, so taking another step would take time. If you only wait for the ride, then that won't be very easy you might need your money for personal purposes so I suggest trading crypto with reserves so you'll have rounds when we launch to the MARS.

Bitcoin increased to all-time-high of $69000 in November 2021 just as it increased to all-time-high of $19600 in 2017. It decreased significanly to $15400 in the following year which was 2022 as it did in 2018. The following year after 2022 which is 2023 that we are now, bitcoin price increased but not very well, this was what that happened in 2019. Bitcoin halving was in 2020 which we can relate with 2024. All-time-high in 2021 which would be 2025. Expect all-time-high in 2024/2025.

So that answer to your question is you should invest in bitcoin. Yes, you should.

I won't recommend to invest in altcoins as they can go zero in value anytime and if you're still into altcoins then go with the ones that have been doing well for long time. Well first for the sad and regretfully experience you had but with what you already wrote in your comment I would like to think that this time around you would have learnt something and then rush to get some bitcoin because the price as you can see is still low comparing to the last bull run so there is certainty that it might touch that point if not anything even go beyond that point so you contemplating it's even wrong because you ought to have research about this coins since you missed the first opportunity because if you eventually miss a second time then that's when your story of sadness begins.

Are you sure that bitcoin is not predictable? People on this forum predicted bull run in 2020/2021, they predicted a massive bear market in 2022 and they predicted mild bull run and bear market in 2023. It all occured as predicted. Bitcoin has been so predictable but what you can say is that it is a volatile asset. If it is savings, it is different from the money that would be used for daily living and securing it in bitcoin is a good idea when the price of bitcoin is low like this time.

I believe that you should not dwell on things that could have been or should have been. Also, do not blame your parents, yourself or anyone else for missed opportunities. Obviously if they knew what was going to happen, they would have let you invest every penny into the coin and probably would have asked you to invest their money, as well. But the truth is that nobody can predict the future and nobody can predict "unicorn" investments. So don't be so hard on yourself.

Trying to predict an amazing investment of a lifetime is like trying to predict tomorrows lottery numbers. Sure, you might or might not get lucky but the odds are definitely not in your favor. So, from a standpoint of probabilities, you did not have much of a chance to become rich anyway.

After halving, we are expecting the price of Bitcoin to start moving upward, but nobody can say if maybe the following month or two months after halving the bull run will start. So for anyone that has money, this is the best opportunity to invest because the price of Bitcoin is in the range of $26k to $27k currently. The reason I said this is the best time to invest in Bitcoin is because during any bull run, the price always do 2x or more according to Bitcoin history.

Nothing really lost. Just assume that you were a kid in 2016 and that's why you didn't buy any bitcoin at that time. Don't you realize that if you had invested in bitcoin at that time without having a basic understanding of how to secure your crypto wallet, you may have lost money or been the victim of a scam. Can't you see that now you do understand bitcoin, you are indirectly hoping for the bull run to occur. If you had purchased bitcoin when you were younger, you would have by that point sold it at a discount along with other investors.

Therefore, you should start using the opportunity presented to you this year as an adult to use it to invest in Bitcoin with your spare money instead of dwelling on the missed opportunity to do so when you were a kid.

Let's keep that aside, again you said of not wanting to lose your entire savings but you want to became rich through bitcoin don't you know you must first accept the risk that associated with every investment before you could move further? I said it right there are some people who wants to invest in bitcoin but doesn't want to loose rather wanting to be at the profit side of the investment.

To let you know, only thing that could give you the profits you needed is to hold for long time and this doesn't guaranteed you that your asset will remains the same, normally when it comes about bitcoin investment you should know there are two things you can't do away ( the bullrun and the bearrun) this two seasons comes after each others and you must experience it.

he should thank his parents as he finished his university and already has PR status in canada. now, he can find better jobs if he wants to. this market should not be look at main source of your income because the likelihood of losing is always there.
and that is true, if he invested way back in 2016, high chance that he got screwed because so many scammers out there. maybe, he's only considering with btc, however, he won't know his decisions back then.

 Migrating to Canada and getting an education was much easier than trying to become a Bitcoin millionaire.  You likely would have been scammed out of your hard earned money by Ruja Ignatova of OneCoin or BitConnect or maybe The BitClub Network; even if you avoided those, you would have stuck your coins on an exchange (one that would ultimately lose or steal your coins) and tried to double them by day-trading eventually ending up with sweet fuck all while still living in a shitty country.  The odds of you being able to buy enough coin from 2016 and making it to millionaire status today were slim to none.  The best investment you made was in yourself - you are now employable and living in a fine country; you should thank your parents over and over again; maybe take them out to a nice dinner in Canada several times per year and hug them often.

Yeah It's always a question of when but for sure there will another bull running for crypto. This isn't going to be a 'stuck market', we all know it's been volatile. If regret can make us go back to the past then I will choose to buy as many bitcoins in 2015 as possible, I know that there is nothing wrong with what you are asking, but there is no right price to buy bitcoins, it is all your decision, Bitcoin prices are very fluctuating, today they can rise 100% but a few hours later they can fall 100%, so using the DCA investment concept (to buy bitcoin) is highly recommended to protect your funds and reduce the possibility of you experiencing losses due to cut losses or so on.

I had the same thing back in the day I think it was 2017 as well I think the price of Bitcoin was around 400$ when I first discovered what Bitcoin is and I was really amazed because some of my friends were able to earn fair amount money on it, then that is when I get interested on it, but still I dont really have money that I can use to invest on it so I was really hesitating as well even though if I have a good amount of money my mindset that time was on spending so if I earn a good amount of profit I would probably just spend it on the gadget.

I haven't posted on this forum since 2017 and what I was posting back then doesn't mean that's what I think as for now. I know that Bitcoin is a good currency but many things have happened since 2016, maybe there are better investment options? Bitcoin has some problems like transaction speed and transaction fees. Can it experience as dramatic price change as it had in 2017? Probably not but who am I to predict, that's why I came here to ask you guys for your opinions. I think you guys know more about it than me.

Migrating to Canada and getting an education was much easier than trying to become a Bitcoin millionaire.  You likely would have been scammed out of your hard earned money by Ruja Ignatova of OneCoin or BitConnect or maybe The BitClub Network; even if you avoided those, you would have stuck your coins on an exchange (one that would ultimately lose or steal your coins) and tried to double them by day-trading eventually ending up with sweet fuck all while still living in a shitty country.  The odds of you being able to buy enough coin from 2016 and making it to millionaire status today were slim to none.  The best investment you made was in yourself - you are now employable and living in a fine country; you should thank your parents over and over again; maybe take them out to a nice dinner in Canada several times per year and hug them often.

 The average bitcoin price in 2016 on a weekly closes was ~$US$568  the maximum price bitcoin achieved (weekly interval) was ~US$65,500 so about 115X.  Keep that in mind and then think how you could have studied in Newfoundland and Labrador for CA$9,321 in 2016, saved over 50% in tuition fees and put the other 50+% into bitcoin... but no! you chose to study in BC and spend CA$21,700 or in Ontario and spend CA$29,921 on tuition.  Either way that would have been CA$12k or CA$20k you could have put into bitcoin which would still have been worth either CA$1.38million or CA$2.3million.  I'm just trying to demonstrate that we can all play the hindsight game.  The fact is, you had options so don't blame your parents for your perceived failures - own them.

 Whatever you plan to do now, you have to be able to invest the money and not think about it again - you can't be worrying about how to pay the rent or buy groceries because you have to live.  Set aside a percentage of your income your comfortable with, get yourself some professional investment help (probably not from bitcointalk), stay away from debt - it'll suck you dry.  Lather, rise, repeat.  Oh, take two jobs - you'll have less time to spend your hard-earned money on frivolous things like 60 Gb internet on your phone, Stray Cat concerts, over-priced Starbuck's drinks or boba teas (make sure you set aside enough of the take-home pay from job#2 to cover your income taxes and DO NOT invest it).

I have some zero point zero X coins on my old Electrum wallet, I do still have seeds safely saved and swore to not touch it until 2030. I think I wouldn't become a victim of scam like BitConnect, I am very cautious an critical but who knows? I think about it repeatedly because if I were to save all the money that I have spent on this study and migration, I would be a millionaire. What kind of job can I get today to pay rent and save up to a million dollar? That's it, probably there is not such a job unless you are a surgeon, psychiatrist, dentist or software engineer and even there, you have to work very hard. The max I can save today is $500 a month.
I don't know how old you or your parents are but I can say that my parents or let's say older generation, doesn't know how the life works today. At past they would get a college degree and good job that was enough to feed family and buy a house but today, I see that money is not made via hard work. I see girls around me who got onlyfans and earn way more compared to me. What do they do? Taking pictures of their nude bodies, having fun in restaurants. Here is some advice statistically time is on your side.

Living to 60-70 or more is fairly common so you have 40 to 50 years left or more.

Make 2 stacks BTC and Doge.

buy weekly, buy $30 in BTC and $10 in doge.
Now if you can spend more than 40 a week which is 2000 a year do it.
Do this for 10 years and reassess the numbers. Never spend any of those coins.

Also put aside emergency cash say 20 a week.

Now I am using numbers that seem high or low. But 60 a week is not a lot. Is 3000 a year.

If you buy an iPhone 14  vs a samsung a54 you spend 1000 vs 300
I you buy Starbucks coffee  rather than make you own coffee you spend 5 vs 2 a cup
Just those 2 things save 700 + 3(365) = 700 + 1095 = 1795 in a year.

Alts are very much glued with Bitcoin i.e. whenever Bitcoin goes up the Alts go up and vice versa. You can invest in Alts but they will go up only once Bitcoin goes bullish. That's why its more appropriate to put most of your capital in bitcoin. There are thousands of Alts on CMC but most only top 10 or 20 on CMC are worthy to be invested. Secondly, just stay away from alts that are cheap in price they rarely go up and majority of people lost there money with hope of getting rich with small capital.

We are at the very last cycle of the bear market and it is not discretion to sell BTC after this long period of bear market. BTC hold 26k mark for 3 times that means there is a strong support there. If this support broken the logical option will be to accumulate more to lower your average because price won't stay there for long. Wound spring under the 50 day average seems like today, checking this as if its resistance when its not especially suggests we move till we find something solid in volume to bounce off and react with.  200 day moving average also in this area except that is a measure still rising thanks to majority of this year being positive overall.
   4hr bars suggests we are positive though sometimes sideways, the gait is positive lean upwards.   I suggest 26751 for a near term target low to maintain as support in order that this trend retains its momentum as its kept so far.  Also I would compare this last week to the end of August when we had that spike up that completely reversed, the idea of a boom is we arent merely repeating or an echo of past energy imo.

$30k has always been the target for some investors which I believe before the year runs out it will come to pass and even more than $30k in the nearest future.
To me at this point I won't advise anyone to sell, the damage has already been done, I mean the fall of Bitcoin price and if you hold forget about the bullish price and some believe it will happen come next year, I'd just say focus on what the market will bring next this year.

Yeah It's always a question of when but for sure there will another bull running for crypto. This isn't going to be a 'stuck market', we all know it's been volatile. It reached a very impossible all time high back then, not mentioning how many economists said that it won't reach above 20K LOL. I don't know why you are too pessimistic with altcoins. I think there are many good altcoins, not each altcoin are useless. If you have a bad experience with altcoins, it means you are not selective to choose altcoins. You need to revise your analysis or research method, there is something wrong with the way you choose coins to invest in.

I would guess there would be some that would crash and never recover so we could say "some" will disappear, but in the sense that FTT and Luna are gone now, technically speaking they do exist, you could still find places to buy them if you want to, it is possible, but could you really imagine them as existing, I consider them as gone.

It's not too late to save Bitcoin or crypto that we want to do. Yes, a few times there was a bull run, and everything has a reason. When I first started, I stumbled into the crypto business. Based on what investors have experienced from crypto market over two years and some months now, show that the bullish season that is coming, it will take a long years to allow those that invested in the past to use the opportunity to earn what they have never earn before in cryptocurrency investment. But for you to achieve your goal from your crypto investment, is to apply patient for your holding for the price of your choice to come before you can sell.
