In 2016 when I was a kid, this coin got in stuck in my mind but absolutely everyone around me was telling me to forget it, it's scam, it's online shit, I shouldn't study it and should move on something else and finally ended up working hard absolutely every day for years to migrate in Canada to learn in university and pay high tution fees.

Finally, I finished the university and gained PR but the money that I have spent in all of these makes me cry every day. If it weren't my parents, I would invest in bitcoin in 2016-2017, I would be a millionaire today. I totally missed 2020's boom because of my situation but now is the time in my life where I stand on my feet, not strongly but I stand and manage to live and save some money. As I see, there are guys on this forum since 2015, they are here still today, so I want to know your opinion and want to hear your advice about Bitcoin. As we all know, halving is coming. Should I invest my savings in Bitcoin? Or should I lean towards altcoins this time? Which one? I don't have health problems and don't have to worry about job security but it would make me sad to lose all the savings but life in Canada is getting expensive every fucking day.

If regret can make us go back to the past then I will choose to buy as many bitcoins in 2015 as possible, I know that there is nothing wrong with what you are asking, but there is no right price to buy bitcoins, it is all your decision, Bitcoin prices are very fluctuating, today they can rise 100% but a few hours later they can fall 100%, so using the DCA investment concept (to buy bitcoin) is highly recommended to protect your funds and reduce the possibility of you experiencing losses due to cut losses or so on.

Trying to predict an amazing investment of a lifetime is like trying to predict tomorrows lottery numbers. Sure, you might or might not get lucky but the odds are definitely not in your favor. So, from a standpoint of probabilities, you did not have much of a chance to become rich anyway.
Predicting the price of bitcoin in the last halving is not a lottery because what was predicted was what that happened.

Personally, I do sometimes feel bad about not investing in Bitcoin sooner, even though I knew about it in the old days when it was worth mere dollars. But, whatever. Nobody can see the future. Roll Eyes Tongue
It is never too late, you can still invest and your wealth will grow as bull market will soon come.

Op, majority of the people will indeed ask you to choose bitcoin over altcoin which is the right thing. But of you have an inclination toward altcoins, it is also good that you divide your portion 70:30 or 60:40 while bitcoin will constitute the larger one, altcoins will take the remaining.
What if he invested on altcoin it becomes a shit coin and instead of it to increase during bull run it started to decrease in price. It is good to learn about the altcoins he wants to invest on becuase some altcoins can be disappointing.

it's your choice whether you want to invest in bitcoin or not, but as you understand, investing in bitcoin has risks and you should understand that the money you invest can drop in value at any time. if you are still in doubt, it's best not to invest or if you want to invest, don't invest all your savings, set aside some in case you have an urgent need.

and your question is whether there will be another market boom or not, it definitely will be, but exactly when no one can predict. so everyone right now is just waiting while buying small portions and holding them in their wallets.

In 2016, many programs that "only" used the name bitcoin or crypto, which became a scam and defrauded many people who joined.
And it's normal if people around you say that it's a scam, online bullshit or something else because they hear and read about these things so they tell you to keep studying until you graduate from college.
You can't blame your parents for asking you to finish your education because they think that when you graduate, you can get a decent job.

And if you ask whether you can still invest in bitcoin now, the answer is that you still have time to start and some, even many, people have just started investing in bitcoin, so you are not too late.
You need to focus on investing in bitcoin and not too much on altcoins because bitcoin will increase again.
But you can also invest in altcoins as an alternative investment so you can benefit from altcoins.

I get the impression that you wasted your time without realizing that what you have now received in education is much better than the millions that you would have spent. Could you have predicted that Bitcoin would rise to such heights? How many such prophets have we seen? Therefore, read xhomerx10's post slowly, preferably slowly and several times. Not everyone here is lucky enough to move to another country or, moreover, to get an education. But many here lost their chances of becoming millionaires since we also heard about Bitcoin but did not buy it, and sell it for pennies. Many regret their mistakes but correct them. Therefore, stop whining about what doesn’t exist and catch up with time now so that in the process of worrying, you don’t miss your chance again.

Dont blame your parents for missing out on bitcoin. At that time, if you are really interested and have enough faith in bitcoin, I believe that your parents or anyone cannot stop your determination. Simply because at that time you did not have enough faith in bitcoin and you chose to follow your parents' advice to go to college.
Furthermore, while studying at university in Canada, you can also invest in bitcoin, but why don't you continue to learn and invest in it? Apparently your faith in bitcoin is zero and now when you see it increasing in value, you start blaming your parents for stopping you, laugh.

None of the members here in the forum can tell you that you can buy bitcoin or other altcoins now. My advice to you is that you must do your own research and analyze the advice or opinions that the commenters will give you on the topic you have already researched.

You are here on the bitcointalk forum, and I also think that you did not make a mistake in asking what you wanted to know. Because there are many who can give you good views or advice about your concern or the answer to what you want to know. And I also think that somehow there is an idea in the Bitcoin world as well.

Everyone wants ready-made answers and solutions. It doesn't happen that way. You yourself must decide what to invest in, bitcoin or altcoins. In order not to torment yourself with a choice, just create a classic diversification portfolio: part will be in btc (for example 40-50%), and the rest in altcoins (60-50%) . You can choose the ratio based on your preferences, what you believe in more. One way or another, bitcoin halving will affect not only the price of btc, but also altcoins. Bitcoin will bring lower profitability, but is more reliable, and altcoins will do the opposite (higher profitability, but higher risks). By purchasing both, you can balance the risks and returns. Something like this.

Yes of course, Will there be a boom again and it even if it's not in 2024, it's safe to say that Bitcoin will be worth 100k by early 2025. Because according to the market cap, it is understood that between 2024 and 2025, the price of one Bitcoin will leave 100k. Moreover, the pumping of Bitcoin may start from this year, and its price may break 40k this year itself.

First of all, I want to congratulate you on the achievement of completing the course. Now about the thing you want to do: As far as I can see, you already have an idea about what you entered here dude. just remember before making a decision always follow your heart and mind.

Just make sure that before you decide what to do, you have done it your own way if you know how and checked it out so that the money you will use is not going to waste in the end whether it is a cryptocurrency or bitcoin. Good luck Wink

My best advice stay only with BTC but put a bit on memecoin, something that you can laugh for when you get a ton of profit. Some may not actually agree but for me, as long as its price goes up the opportunity is there. Dogecoin is still among the top coins.

Eventually, you will see which of the altcoins today will have a higher price in the next bear market. You could only say, "I totally missed 2024's boom." There's always something to regret when you know you will have to spend more to achieve more.

I had the same thing back in the day I think it was 2017 as well I think the price of Bitcoin was around 400$ when I first discovered what Bitcoin is and I was really amazed because some of my friends were able to earn fair amount money on it, then that is when I get interested on it, but still I dont really have money that I can use to invest on it so I was really hesitating as well even though if I have a good amount of money my mindset that time was on spending so if I earn a good amount of profit I would probably just spend it on the gadget.

But still, I continued to invest even though the market price already skyrocketed because I just thought that the market was going to continue and it was a good opportunity even though I missed the first one, I got lucky on the second one since the last Bullrun I earned a good amount of money that I use again and reinvesting again today waiting for another opportunity to sell on the Bullrun.

For me, there was no other option but one thing that I learned is there are always opportunities to make a profit in the market so you should still invest especially at times like this when the market drops.

Similar incident could've happened with more number of bitcoin users. Same as OP most users could've had the thinking, if we've spent big money during the beginning days now we could've been rich. Rather than thinking about the past days and missed opportunities it is always good to keep ourselves prepared for the upcoming opportunities. Cryptomarket is highly volatile in nature and the same keeps the market vary. We can expect things to be better with time, and hope for better things.

As we all know, halving is coming. Should I invest my savings in Bitcoin? Or should I lean towards altcoins this time? Which one?

If in the past, like around 2016 and 2017 which you said you would have invested in Bitcoin, take a look at the altcoins that were around during that time and see if those altcoins are still exiting today and waxing strong like Bitcoin. Bitcoin has existed for about 14 years now, and so many altcoins did not even last for a year before failing. Since you are still new to crypto and, like you said, you missed the last bull run of Bitcoin, it's a reason for you to invest in Bitcoin now so that you will not miss the next bull market that is coming. Altcoins usually pump and dump, and during the bull run of Bitcoin, some altcoins get pumped, but if you want to invest in altcoins, you will not accurately know which ones will get pumped, and that's why you should invest in Bitcoin.

Point is BTC isnt a fixed protocol, it can adapt and include new things that would become useful if the blockchain should decide its in the best common interest.   So the idea of alt coins and leaving BTC is controversial and negative to some because you are assuming BTC has made a mistake and greater things are possible elsewhere.    I dont mind alt coins, I like to think proof of stake could work because it seems more inclusive but its not yet sure exactly.
There will be another cycle to BTC so long as there is demand because supply is contracting, alot of the supply was from the last peak unwinding and somehow people being surprised the price will not always go up.   The time scale for BTC is surprisingly long, we keep trying to guess the daily and weekly price when perhaps nothing below a quarterly bar really matters that much for true progression in price action.

Missed opportunity that is what we call it, and all of us had this opportunity in our hands but just let it slip because we are not knowledgeable on Bitcoin and thought that it wouldn't reach the price at which we are.

Prioritizing your education over investment is still a good choice because that was your plan before, as that is the greatest investment in our lives. But if you think that you've just invested the money you've earned at that time a lot of things will happen. Are you sure that you've bought that year and held it until 2020 or are you sure that you haven't gotten scammed? There are things that will happen so don't ever regret them.

History will repeat itself so we will be seeing that boom again in a few years. Just be patient.

The only one that can decide what to do with your money is yourself, even if I think bitcoin is going to grow significantly during the upcoming bull run, due to its high market cap it is impossible that is going to grow in the same magnitude it did on the previous bull runs.

So you have to take a decision, to take the risk with altcoins or to pick the safest option? If I was on your shoes I will pick bitcoin, but as I said this is your decision and if you decide to go for altcoins then so be it, just make sure the altcoins in which you invest are any good so you do not end up being scammed.

History will repeat itself so we will be seeing that boom again in a few years. Just be patient.

When we think of history repeating itself, we must also realize that some history will change and will not be the same.

If we can compare how the market conditions this year and next year will certainly be different.
But we can see the essence, the history of the market has increased and decreased after several events that occurred.
Like the Halving Event which occurs every 4 years and is the starter for Bitcoin to reach a new ATH.

We will all probably focus on the Halving and see how effective the increase will be.
History will not guarantee that the market will experience the same thing, there will be changes according to conditions and situations, but the achievement for ATH will still be in line.

We have to be patient and see how the explosion will happen soon.
Holding back and buying gradually when the market is uncertain as it is now is an opportunity that will not come a second time.

You talking about the bitcoin halving, so obviously the advise is that you should be investing on bitcoin and not on altcoins. Why? it's because we really don't know what altcoins to invest, majority are meme coins, pump and dump and shit coins. Of course there are solid coins in the market, in the top 10.

However, if you want to sleep at night and not to worry about the price and if you are here for the long term, then bitcoin is the best investment. You just have to learn how to property protect your bitcoin, so learn about wallets, and have the knowledge about private keys.

There is no prediction of what will happen to altcoins. So, which altcoin you will invest in is a big question mark. With the halving approaching, the most logical investment is to invest in Bitcoin. We do not know whether altcoin prices will rise or not, or rather, we do not know which altcoins will rise. So I think you don't need to risk your money. I think the best investment for now is Bitcoin.

There are solid coins in the top 10, but we all know what can happen in the market. It no longer means anything for a coin to be in the top 10. It is best to invest in Bitcoin until the market regains confidence.
