You'd rather forget about the past OP as it only reminds you of mistakes that most of us did. Yes, many people missed that opportunity because most of us are doubtful about Bitcoin but what happened today is not been what we thought before, so we regret it. However, we still have the chance, if we missed before why not take this time? If we trust Bitcoin, no way we think negatively but be still focused on our investment goal. There will be a market recovery, couldn't be bullish instantly but certainly, it comes someday. Invest and Hold, it is not really easy but worth rewarding if we can do it right.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

There is no prediction of what will happen to altcoins. So, which altcoin you will invest in is a big question mark. With the halving approaching, the most logical investment is to invest in Bitcoin. We do not know whether altcoin prices will rise or not, or rather, we do not know which altcoins will rise. So I think you don't need to risk your money. I think the best investment for now is Bitcoin.
Because the halving is on Bitcoin, it is not wrong if you advise other people to invest in Bitcoin even though on the one hand you are telling other people to forget about altcoins because currently there are so many altcoins whose potential price increase is also difficult to know when the Bitcoin halving occurs. So choosing something more logical like Bitcoin in my opinion is also the right choice for everyone at this time.

Quote
There are solid coins in the top 10, but we all know what can happen in the market. It no longer means anything for a coin to be in the top 10. It is best to invest in Bitcoin until the market regains confidence.
The average altcoin that is in the top ten in the cryptocurrency rankings is not a bad altcoin to buy, but if our goal is to make a profit in the halving, that means everyone has to focus more on Bitcoin first, not on altcoins even though altcoins are also often experienced an increase when Bitcoin started to increase its price more in the market.

There's something I am not getting correctly op, you said you were kid around 2016 and you joined this forum since 2016 correct me if I am wrong. And now you came to asked if you should invest in bitcoin or altcoin after having 55 post in this forum you still don't come across a thread or topics that talks about the best coin to invest and how to manage your risk, including how not to use your live savings to invest in bitcoin?
I haven't posted on this forum since 2017 and what I was posting back then doesn't mean that's what I think as for now. I know that Bitcoin is a good currency but many things have happened since 2016, maybe there are better investment options? Bitcoin has some problems like transaction speed and transaction fees. Can it experience as dramatic price change as it had in 2017? Probably not but who am I to predict, that's why I came here to ask you guys for your opinions. I think you guys know more about it than me.

Migrating to Canada and getting an education was much easier than trying to become a Bitcoin millionaire.  You likely would have been scammed out of your hard earned money by Ruja Ignatova of OneCoin or BitConnect or maybe The BitClub Network; even if you avoided those, you would have stuck your coins on an exchange (one that would ultimately lose or steal your coins) and tried to double them by day-trading eventually ending up with sweet fuck all while still living in a shitty country.  The odds of you being able to buy enough coin from 2016 and making it to millionaire status today were slim to none.  The best investment you made was in yourself - you are now employable and living in a fine country; you should thank your parents over and over again; maybe take them out to a nice dinner in Canada several times per year and hug them often.

The average bitcoin price in 2016 on a weekly closes was ~$US$568  the maximum price bitcoin achieved (weekly interval) was ~US$65,500 so about 115X.  Keep that in mind and then think how you could have studied in Newfoundland and Labrador for CA$9,321 in 2016, saved over 50% in tuition fees and put the other 50+% into bitcoin... but no! you chose to study in BC and spend CA$21,700 or in Ontario and spend CA$29,921 on tuition.  Either way that would have been CA$12k or CA$20k you could have put into bitcoin which would still have been worth either CA$1.38million or CA$2.3million.  I'm just trying to demonstrate that we can all play the hindsight game.  The fact is, you had options so don't blame your parents for your perceived failures - own them.

Whatever you plan to do now, you have to be able to invest the money and not think about it again - you can't be worrying about how to pay the rent or buy groceries because you have to live.  Set aside a percentage of your income your comfortable with, get yourself some professional investment help (probably not from bitcointalk), stay away from debt - it'll suck you dry.  Lather, rise, repeat.  Oh, take two jobs - you'll have less time to spend your hard-earned money on frivolous things like 60 Gb internet on your phone, Stray Cat concerts, over-priced Starbuck's drinks or boba teas (make sure you set aside enough of the take-home pay from job#2 to cover your income taxes and DO NOT invest it).

I believe bitcoin could 10X from here but that's just my opinion and opinions are like assholes - everybody's got one.  Good luck!  Tell your parents xhomerx10 thinks they're awesome.

Thank you for this reply. I still wonder, whether was it a good decision or not. I have some zero point zero X coins on my old Electrum wallet, I do still have seeds safely saved and swore to not touch it until 2030. I think I wouldn't become a victim of scam like BitConnect, I am very cautious an critical but who knows? I think about it repeatedly because if I were to save all the money that I have spent on this study and migration, I would be a millionaire. What kind of job can I get today to pay rent and save up to a million dollar? That's it, probably there is not such a job unless you are a surgeon, psychiatrist, dentist or software engineer and even there, you have to work very hard. The max I can save today is $500 a month.
I don't know how old you or your parents are but I can say that my parents or let's say older generation, doesn't know how the life works today. At past they would get a college degree and good job that was enough to feed family and buy a house but today, I see that money is not made via hard work. I see girls around me who got onlyfans and earn way more compared to me. What do they do? Taking pictures of their nude bodies, having fun in restaurants. Then there are Twitch gamers who play all the time and earn more than what I make in a single year. Then there are kids who catch a good crypto pump and have millions. Yeah, sometimes I feel like stupid and helpless. Also, Canada is not what people think about it. Everyone thinks that it's a great country where people have great life but it's not true. Maybe life is good for locals who have houses but for other people who have to pay rent and so on, life here is nothing special but I am still grateful for this country, it's better than my place and I have more possibilities here, people are friendly and amazing too.

I am really grateful for such a reply, thank you very much.

Thank you absolutely everyone for your replies. I read every post but can't reply to everyone.

In 2016 when I was a kid, this coin got in stuck in my mind but absolutely everyone around me was telling me to forget it, it's scam, it's online shit, I shouldn't study it and should move on something else and finally ended up working hard absolutely every day for years to migrate in Canada to learn in university and pay high tution fees.

Finally, I finished the university and gained PR but the money that I have spent in all of these makes me cry every day. If it weren't my parents, I would invest in bitcoin in 2016-2017, I would be a millionaire today. I totally missed 2020's boom because of my situation but now is the time in my life where I stand on my feet, not strongly but I stand and manage to live and save some money. As I see, there are guys on this forum since 2015, they are here still today, so I want to know your opinion and want to hear your advice about Bitcoin. As we all know, halving is coming. Should I invest my savings in Bitcoin? Or should I lean towards altcoins this time? Which one? I don't have health problems and don't have to worry about job security but it would make me sad to lose all the savings but life in Canada is getting expensive every fucking day.

Sounds like you are in your 20's

Here is some advice statistically time is on your side.

Living to 60-70 or more is fairly common so you have 40 to 50 years left or more.

Make 2 stacks BTC and Doge.

buy weekly, buy $30 in BTC and $10 in doge.
Now if you can spend more than 40 a week which is 2000 a year do it.
Do this for 10 years and reassess the numbers. Never spend any of those coins.

Also put aside emergency cash say 20 a week.

Now I am using numbers that seem high or low. But 60 a week is not a lot. Is 3000 a year.

If you buy an iPhone 14  vs a samsung a54 you spend 1000 vs 300
I you buy Starbucks coffee  rather than make you own coffee you spend 5 vs 2 a cup
Just those 2 things save 700 + 3(365) = 700 + 1095 = 1795 in a year.

Alts are very much glued with Bitcoin i.e. whenever Bitcoin goes up the Alts go up and vice versa. You can invest in Alts but they will go up only once Bitcoin goes bullish. That's why its more appropriate to put most of your capital in bitcoin. There are thousands of Alts on CMC but most only top 10 or 20 on CMC are worthy to be invested. Secondly, just stay away from alts that are cheap in price they rarely go up and majority of people lost there money with hope of getting rich with small capital.

One thing you must come to know is that, no single individual is a bulk of knowledge, not even a group of persons. What everyone has got is just a part of the entire and can only offer opinion based on what they understand. Your far better following up the devices of those who are into a trade or profession than those who speak carnally or just out of what they feel could be the case. I hope you understand that now.

From what I gather, you didn’t make any mistake by migrating and taking the time out and resources to study. That’s still something that would be beneficial to you in the long run. Except your saying you didn’t get to give studying a chance which I doubt but then, your sure to have learned a lot, how to choose what you go by, data analysis and coordination, making inferences and more.

You’ve got another chance with the steps you’ve taken this far, use it and invest as you please. No time is ever late.

You went to university for study so there is not a better thing than study. You completed your study now you are free to invest in bitcoin.

you did not waste your time because if one Bull season have been passed so there will be lots of other bull season coming and as you are talking about bitcoin so this suggest that you have some knowledge about it which is a great chance to reach your destination.

Now the price again lower down which is best time for you to earn money through bitcoin investment and when halving reaches so your wait will be over to take the money in elevated form.

Should one invest in Bitcoin, the first cryptocurrency that comes to mind? Or is it possible to make better profits from altcoins? The truth is, once you know this business, it doesn't really matter which one you invest in, you can make a profit either way. Because technical analysis and fundamental analysis, as well as the indicators and chart readings you will apply, will earn you both when cryptocurrencies are falling and rising.
This is where investor profile, education and strategy come into play. Because there is no one better than you to decide which cryptocurrency is right for you. You should know this well. Remember that investing is not done with advice but with education, not with emotions but with technical knowledge and analysis.

If you study history, the probability of a boom within a year and a half or two years is very high. In the spring of 2024 - another double-digit decline, which is usually the trigger for the growth of the entire cryptocurrency market. Of course, there is always the possibility that history will change, but let's hope for a repeat of it

Completely true, knowing that don't make investment decisions according to other people's advice, it's stupid, who knows, some of them are giving advice to the OP just to trap them.
Personal analysis is very important before investing wherever you are, both technically and fundamentally, because that is what will underlie you being a knowledgeable investor.

Op if you want to invest using all your savings in crypto I don't think that's a good thing, however you have to understand that you will need cash to anticipate the need for emergency funds, and that will disrupt your investment, crypto is quite volatile, so you really have to manage your money well.
Bitcoin is the safest solution for you to take compared to altcoins, today's bitcoin is -65% of its ATH, I think if you can wait another year or two, your profit will be more than 65% of bitcoin, keep in mind that 2024 bitcoin halving and one year later is the end of the bitcoin cycle which usually forms a new ATH. I suggest you read more about the potential that will happen in the next two years.

There should be a bull run incoming into crypto space but funny how all of us are certain on this right ? I think this is the first time that almost all the investors , holders and speculators are waiting for a bull run of Bitcoin in 2024. What if 2024 will be a continuation of bear market ? I know the halv is in 2024 but honestly , I wouldn't be shocked to see Bitcoin having a bull run only in 2025 because like I said , this is the first time when everyone in crypto space and all around it , are waiting for the bull run to start. So far , my predictions were almost on point and I've predicted correctly that Bitcoin will crash during the summer cycle like it always has.

After you finish your studies at university, you must have a degree by now? At least you are already working to start earning from what you did at university. Actually this is not something bad you never miss in bitcoin investment the price can skyrocket to $200K if you are more patient holding the bitcoin.

Well the savings fund is important for urgent needs if you use that money for bitcoin investment then it's not good, at least you should have a reserve fund to cover your needs. No, I don't recommend any altcoins.

Means it is better to set aside from your job income for bitcoin, such as 30% of your salary can be invested in bitcoin or other source income can be diverted to bitcoin, so that your savings fund is safer to make an emergency fund.

The past records have shown that there is always a bull boom coming up although there is no specific date on this big boom but as a crypto and Bitcoin is concerned am willing to take the chances of the bull run happening. Bitcoin bull boom is set about to take again in 2024/25 that's if it followed the previous bull run period.

So what any good crypto enthusiast should be doing is to actually buy as much Bitcoin or crypto asset as he can ahead of this period because it's happens scarcely.

Should I invest my savings in Bitcoin? Or should I lean towards altcoins this time? Which one?
As you are an old person from long time ago you have good knowledge about this forum with bitcoins, you will invest accordingly. The best advice I can give you from my experience coming to this forum is to invest in bitcoin and avoid investing in altcoin. It would be better to buy bitcoins for the future with the money you have left in your savings from the money you earn now. Moreover, if you invest in Bitcoin it will never be risky but safe, and you can earn good income from it in the future. And if you invest in Altcoin, it definitely has enough risk and not so safe for your money, that's why you should avoid investing in Altcoin. So I will advise you to avoid altcoin investment and invest in bitcoin as your money is safe and profitable in it.

It sucks to risking all your life savings and lose them. But as old time Bitcoiner I would say we will %100 experience boom with Bitcoin s price next year. I am pretty there will be many millionaires in these forums. Current prices are very cheap for Bitcoin actually. I only trade on high levels nowadays just to buy back low. That's my aim here. Many whales probably already started increasing their Bitcoin amount. There will be good enough demand for Bitcoin boom.

It has been happening for a long time and I believe it is especially Bitcoin, the 4 year cycle that occurred after the last ATH and it is possible that it will happen again in 2025, I really believe that and have been preparing slowly to welcome it.

If you already have great confidence in that, then why should you be afraid to risk your entire life savings for a big profit, after all, this is not a bet that might lose everything, this is an investment where there are only two possibilities, namely profit or loss, not loss.
I think so too, now that many people are preparing for the huge possibility that many believe is welcoming this.

We all hope for the same thing. Expectations for next year are very high. As I have been saying for a long time, Bitcoin gives us an opportunity to buy. Those who take advantage of this opportunity will get closer to or achieve their goals.

Bitcoin has gone through many times like this and has always come back stronger. Those who did not lose their faith in Bitcoin always increased their investments in such times. There are risks in every investment, and those who take these risks achieve their goals. The demand for Bitcoin will increase even more when the price starts to rise and its rise will accelerate. We need to be patient and patience is one of the most important things in this market.

I don't know if I should say is a shame but why cry over spilled milk? Is never your fault that you was young and couldn't make a decision that concerns your life that would stand, but that's by the way.
You can still start from scratch again and before you know it you get to where you always wanted to be (a billionaire ) because the price of Bitcoin at this point isn't too positive that it will remain at an elevative stage like going up.
So I'd advise you shouldn't feel bad for going to Canada and doing what you went to do, you're done and now that you're a grown man take advantage of the market price, let the past die off your mind and you can make it big, also expect the price to be at $30+ any time soon.

I don't have health problems and don't have to worry about job security but it would make me sad to lose all the savings but life in Canada is getting expensive every fucking day.

Opportunity comes in every person's life but some are able to use that opportunity and some fail due to some reasons. You got a good chance because with the investment in 2020 you would have got maximum profit in 2021. If you have enough money then you can become a millionaire by investing it. But since you could not use the opportunity due to adverse situation. So I would say that upcoming opportunity should not be missed as upcoming Halving is very close. The upcoming bull market may be stronger than the past for several reasons. So if you are trying to make a reliable investment without risk then it is definitely better to invest in Bitcoin. Learning from the mistakes of the past and working for the present and the future will certainly be prosperous.

In terms of risk, it is quite clear that this is always greater for altcoins than for Bitcoin, so your suggestion is not wrong if the direction is to invest in Bitcoin with the remaining money that someone has saved from the money he earned through his hard work. Because from what has been seen, Bitcoin can always provide good profits and returns to everyone who wants to invest in it and today the price of Bitcoin itself has almost touched $27K, so some people who once bought at $25K may have started to smile a little today.
