Deleting Post can reduce the merit we got?

hope y'll having a good today. i was in confusion like if we delete any previous post from Account on which we have got some merits....Deleting that particular post will have any impact on our total of merits like will its reduce or still remain as same as before? I thought i should ask it to the community so that it will add up to my knowledge and Information. If Anyone of you know about this please do lemme know Many Thanks

No it won’t.

Deleting the post that gave you merit will have no effect on your total merit count, the only thing that might be affected is your activity count and that depends on some other factors too.

I have had some post that I received merits from removed after the main thread got nuked, and yet the merit remained, but if you check my merit history it will show you “deleted post”.

If your post has been given merit and it is deleted, the merit that you were given will not be deleted. If your post has been deleted and it was given merit, go to your profile merit page and you will see the merit but the post as deleted.

No impact on your merit,  your merit will remain the same. I don't know why one will delete the post which recieved Merit. when someone gives merit on any post that's mean this post is some how useful for specific member or entire forum and after that any body wants to delete the it makes no sense.

Anyway If your post gets deleted no problem, the merit of that deleted post will be credited to your account. Moreover, this merit will last as long as your account remains alive.

If you delete the post, then your merits will not reduce, but I prefer you not to delete any posts, as I can see you have made not that many posts and the ones on which you got merits are also very low, so it's better not to delete posts. Deleting the post can cause trouble in finding the real source when someone tries to find that on which post you received the merits.

Other than that, I don't think there will be any problem for you, but it's totally up to you to either delete it or not. The merits that you have received will remain forever in your account, which means they will show the same forever, but of course the number of merits will be gone once you send them to anyone.

Just like most of the above said, Your merit count won’t be affected but take note that the description on your merit history will be (Deleted Post/Topic) which is not good to see in history since you usually get merit due to good post while deleting it will make the essence of merit waste.

Activity count is the one that can be affected once you delete a post that attached to your activity post. So be cautious on deleting post if you don’t want to rank down/decrease activity count.

Yes but if the user has got enough posts that can help him increase in activities after two weeks then it will not matter, so it depends on how many posts are deleted and the posts number of the user. However, op has asked a good question that will help other newbies who probably are thinking about that and have not made attempt to ask. So to Op, I don't think anything reduces the amount of merit you already have, even if the particular posts bearing that merit was deleted .

Your merit receiving is permanent and not reduce yet although with your post as source merit receiving have been deleted, I saw many user not only one post but also they have many post as source merit income deleted but their merit still existing and impossible reduce. Its not matter with post automatically delete by moderator or you try deleting post as merit source by your self because all your merit points are permanently. But looks not really good when some post as source merit income have been deleted, when checking merit distribution history see there with your post delete.

Don't worry with your 5 merit receiving keep existing if your post merit source will delete one day later,

Smart question, I just thought about it now as I read this. I was also wondering the replies that will be given. Good that the merits will not be lost with the deleted post.
 But another question is why you will want to delete a post that has earned merit? because a post that has earned merit must have made sense to be merited especially when it was merited more than once, and also a moderator will not delete such a post?

Deleting posts cannot affect your merit score. Even if you delete a post that was merited, it still wouldn’t reduce the current amount of merits you have. However, deleting posts can reduce your activity and that can also affect your rank in terms of activity level.

I can see that your curiosity really got the best of you because i can vividly say thats the reason for this question well that's actually good because I also was this curious to know about this particular question which I later found out by myself from reading other posts. A Merit is an irreversible action so I think even if your post is deleted of which you were merited no really happens to the merit.

Subject to change if the merit system gets scrapped or changed to something else sometime in the future (very unlikely but the possibility is there).

No, it doesn't affect your merit count when a post is deleted. Honestly, the post where you got merited is deleted then the post is gone and yet the merit will remain recorded in your profile. The merit does not depend on post to remain as it is but if a post is deleted then the total post count you have will decrease and activity points may also decrease. Just don't worry about merit when you have a post that is deleted by mods or you deleted it yourself.

Your merits remains the same
 Merits earned by a member cannot be tampered by anyone as it has been recorded and can't be deducted when your merited post is deleted. The merits system is designed in such a way that nothing will be able to tamper your earn merit and your Smerit, maybe only the admin can do so, if I am correct. Moderators wouldn't delete any of your post that was merited.

Merit (earned merit) is not decayed over time. There is no Demerit so far. Deleting merited posts does not make your earned merit deduction.

There is currently no such thing as a "demerit". I'm hoping that the positive merits alone will be fine. I could add demerits pretty easily later on if necessary, though.

It is the same not only for deleted posts but for posts are not deleted but in forum boards in your Ignored board list.

They will be shown as "(Deleted/Off-limits/Ignored)" in your Merit history page.

My first question is that which of your post do you want to delete that got merit and what is the reason for it ?

If you asked this question as a generic one, then you have been told by the members already that the merits given on that posts will remain with you and they will not be reduced.

Sometimes even mods deleted our posts and it had merits, in that case too, the merits remain intact.

merits you have will not be reduced or erased. What happens if you delete a post or your posts are deleted in quite large numbers is the possibility that your activity and number of posts will decrease. while your Merit will remain in your account.

I don't know for sure whether those who have reached full member rank and above when they delete their posts until the number of activities decreases at the lower rank limit stage, whether their ranking will also decrease. In my opinion, this could happen when the number of activities decreases due to the deletion of posts. but still with the same amount of merit in the account.
