I don tire to dey see all this kind matter with our newbies way supposed to dey show better quality for the forum. for he   APPEALthread, he say e no intentionally run the plagarism but e forget to add a link to the post.[

I have been trying to find out what i did wrong that got my account banned from the forum. This is serious cant believe I had made such a horrible mistake here, i should have shared the link to the source i got the information. You can check my post history again I have never copied someone's post before i am very sorry for not paying attention to the post i made.Sincerely i taught i added the source link not knowing i did not. I have no idea what transpired that day, but I never intended to pass off someone else's content as my own. I am pleading that the moderators should look into my account and see that i have been organic and have made good contributions to the forum.

It is obvious that plagiarism is the fastest way to getting banned in this forum. It is actually a huge offence that discourages ingenuity and originality.

 I don't know why people make that mistake of not giving credit to source of any content they share idea, it does not really reduce us but rather mean we appreciate the works of others. When I want to make a statement that is not my original idea, I do use statements such: "as it has been stated by". In this case, they will know it's not your idea but you are merely referencing... just for emphasis.

I just hope others can learn to avoid getting banned.

The matter wey concern plagiarism na one wey this forum no dey take play, and I personally happy say, the forum no outrightly ban posting of content belonging to people outside the forum here, but the only mandatory rule which the forum said we must obey is to properly reference the person or place the post belongs to, to avoid copyright infringement, which could be harmful to the continual existence of this forum..

When we copy contexts from people out there and post here without acknowledging them, any of those persons can file a lawsuit against this forum for copying their content, which like I said before, could be very harmful to the continual existence of the forum, this is why the forum no dey take issue relating to plagiarism lightly..

For person wey dey won post content wey him or her copy from another person, the most important thing to carry for mind na to add reference of where or who you copy the post from, no be to post that actual post itself..

It is good as a reminder so that a lot of people don't fall victim to the circumstance of not knowing that plagiarism is a very big offense and the penalty or the consequences of that action as stated is a ban, I would have loved it if this post will be pinned so that newcomers will know how serious this offense is and caution will be taken, no matter what the reason might be we should try to cross-check whatever we are trying to post to avoid bullet hitting anyone it won't be funny at all and the person is going to be sad for loosing there account with proper planning will make posting very easy for you. if anyone wants to enjoy staying here there are rules that must be followed at least new people will learn from this post.

Since I joined this forum, either I write directly off hand or I will include a link even if it is a line or two that I copied. Even a quote is allowed without a link but I prefer to include a link even if I am the owner of what I quoted.

I don't know why people make that mistake of not giving credit to source of any content they share idea, it does not really reduce us but rather mean we appreciate the works of others.

Most likely no other reason than they want to get the credit instead, but not knowing how a post can be more authentic if they include the link to its source.

Another reason is that they do not know they can be known until they are known and banned. Some newbies even reword the plagiarized words in a way to mask them from not letting people know, but later they are banned because they did not know how easy a plagiarism checker can easily reveal their plagiarized contents.

I wonder why most people will like to plagiarize while they can just use there knowledge or understanding they have on that particular topic instead of plagiarize, well in most cases of plagiarism is course if someone has no dea about a particular discussion and really want to comments so the only alternative that could to come his mind is to plagiarize. so my advise to my fellow newbie is that, is better watching and learning if we don't have an idea of or contribution to a discussion than plagiarize.

Well anyhow wey e be e no easy at all my people because sometimes in fit no be intentional it fit be by coincidence unto say e get some topics wey they get too many responses and e go dey difficult to check through everyone's post then you start giving your own opinion not knowing say you dey talk same thing wey another person don talk unintentionally.

So this plagiarism sometimes we no go blame the person because people wey they reply to topics dey too much so no how wey person go fit go through wetin everybody don talk concerning the topics.

So for me, make them they temper justice with mercy. If this can thing happen then make them issue warning to the person wey dey involve for like two to three times then if the person still continues then we go see am say in they intentionally do am so na in be my own opinion for this matter

Although they are called warnings, are taken under maximum punishment, but they may take them lightly otherwise they would have acted cautiously in the forum. u are right that forum rules should be read at least once a week or once a month, as the rules change from time too time, and it is very important too keep them updated. But a new user doesn't repeat the same thing over and over again. And for such mistakes they have been penalized before, and their accounts have been banned, but they are not careful about this. It is important for a new person too follow the rules before posting on a forum, but breaking the rules and doing the wrong thing will not last long, getting their account banned within days. However, those newbies should be careful reading such messages so that they avoid such mistakes in the future.

Truly plagiarism cost lots of newbies account banning. I believe this is the area we need to educate our newbies very well as they have no idea about it. In the education sector plagiarism  is seen as a serious offence because it is more of intellectual theft so therefore anyone find wanting would be penalised for it likewise other sectors as well. You can use intellectual property but you must cite or quote them properly to avoid being called out.

I believe this aspect should be properly treated from the local boards because there they have the newbies and can communicate with them properly guiding them through. Fact plagiarism have been affecting many members in this forum, but it mostly affect the Newbies and when I discovered that, I make my simple predictions and small research which I later discovered that it is just as a result of laziness and hunting merit that is how many people become a victim of plagiarism because many Newbies are just hunting for merit so that they can rank up and join a signature campaign so that they can make money which is not the best way, the best way is to understand and engage is research that will help you in future and also to be patient because with time I Newbies today will become a jr members, from there to member to full member and continuously so what I can say to my fellow 9ja mate is that let be patient with time all will be well

I am very sorry too see this matter today, because in my country one person was caught stealing like this and his account has been banned. In fact, newbies start copying and pasting the forum without properly observing it, resulting in negative tagging and banning of their accounts. New people coming too my country people forum now should be careful, seeing what happened in the past. A local brother of ours got his account banned due to plagiarism, which is really sad. That is why it is most important for those who are new to be careful, it is better not to post by stealing like this.

The worst about plagiarism I have seen these days is the use of chat GPT or any AI produced text which bears semblance to the offense of plagiarism. They would without even a proper citation or reference or presented in a quoted format paste the work because of the laziness to read, research or think properly.

Yes, accounts have been banned from this forum because of this offense of plagiarism and it will be really unwise to have made so much effort as a newbie, to attain a certain number of merits or post count, only to be banned or given a negative trust.

I've been trying to see the post he made that got him banned and I don't really know how to go about it. But I've a few reservations on his banning. For me, its very bad to do plagiarism as its greatly prohibited in the forum, but we're all humans and to err is human. Could the person that reported him not have been merciful enough to PM him and notify him of his errors instead of using him to shine and collect merit?. For me, that would've been a more human thing to do to help a brother who is still new in the forum. It'll pain me more if this person whom reported him is from this board. It  means we're not our brothers keeper as that person should've corrected him and not just set him up like that. If he fails to take correction, then you report to the moderators for action. Just like those days in primary school when you report to your teacher if your colleague fails to sit properly in class after correcting him/her.

Lastly, a word for anybody who intends to copy contents online. Place the link before copying the contents for safety purpose as placing the link first when your head is still cool prevents you from forgetting it at the long run.
