Hey guys I greet everyone and hope we are doing good. Before I start firstly guys how do would you feel when during tithe and offering and you see the user passing Bitcoin wallet address to you to make payment into?

Personally I feel that the adoption level is increasing and that's all we have wanted right? But yet again I see a new business opportunity this churches are trying to exploit. We know how the Nigerian churches are significantly extorting their members all in the name of blessings (God blessings doesn't come with a price tag). I think using or a church having a Bitcoin wallet shows how desperate they are and would leave no stone unturned just to get funds out of members. What are your thoughts about it .

if there is one thing that i have known about our Nigeria church is that they don't joke with trends, they don't like to be left behind, they always try there possible best to meet up  new technological advancement, because they are religious house does not mean they will not update there service like others.

Most Nigeria churches now are being treated as private business which it's sole aim is to make profit and for them to continue making the profit and meet up with competitors they have to advance on the  market demand just as a normal business owner will do for it's business, if the church will want to adopt the crypto payment option, they will not even have to pass the address from member to member with the way thing has been modernize in the Nigeria churches now they will just have to display the address on the TV screen or projector which will be a faster means for it to be seen by other members.

That way self other members will be able to see how much was raised each service as they can scan through the address on their own, without needing the permission from secretary to access it, it will be a good thing in one part and also bad from the other part.

It can only be thought about in two ways, the first being the important one and the second one which can be negligible. The first one which is; bitcoin adoption which we have been clamoring for is now becoming a reality and all bitcoin enthusiast will feel happy for this new development and will want such to continue in other parts of the country too. It’s a commendable effort and I see nothing wrong in that.

While the second point is that; the mindset the churches are having for employing that method of payment of tithe is something personal and between them and their creator. If they are doing it solely for business sake/extortion of their members then our view won’t matter since it’s something spiritual to handle between themselves. And for the second purpose which could be another motive for this, then we’ll always commend it as bitcoin enthusiasts.

But wait I don't think using Bitcoin to pay offering in church will be a good financial decision for the one spending the Bitcoin due to first of all,  the fees to send Bitcoin to the church wallet address,  and then again I will have to use the scan code to get the wallet so pesting a copy of the scan to pay around the seats I the church could settle that,  but in all this a lot of information and enlightenment need to be done.

Because most of the bitcoin users around the church won't know how to scan or use the app,  so this will bring us back to using our naira to settle all those bills with zero fees.

Bitcoin is too precious to gamble around with all in the name of religion where there is cash to settle that,  and the pastors or imams should know better if they truly understood Bitcoin before implementing it into the church.

Seriously in Nigeria the adoption level has really increased and it’s a good thing cos even as country no de go well people de try make ends meet. E good as people don de accept and understand cryptocurrency but as e be say even churches don de accept bitcoin as offering e don de too obvious say them just wan just de use members make money so no matter any form of payment you claim say u get dem go make sure say dem go fit accept am.

Sometimes when people talk about how the church use to make so much money from its members I usually don’t believe but using God’s name for business purpose in the house of God is not a good thing. Offerings should be made at ones convenience.

Hey guys I greet everyone and hope we are doing good. Before I start firstly guys how do would you feel when during tithe and offering and you see the user passing Bitcoin wallet address to you to make payment into?
I have never seen a case of any religious institution accepting cryptocurrency but I would be surprised if a bitcoin wallet address is passed to me to make offering and I wouldn’t even bother making use of it, I’d rather give them cash or rather send fiat to their bank accounts.

I no agree with you because I no see anything wrong if a church choose to dey accept donations or tithe in Bitcoin, e only show say Bitcoin dey gain massive adoption. De world dey move on faster pace and people dey like subscribe to de latest trend and churches no dey different. So if dem kno say e go fit benefit dem, make dem us am as long as dem no put pressure on anybody and dem do am on de scriptural basis. De link below na church for America wey dey collect donations in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Code:
https://thegivingblock.com/donate/grace-church/

For some churches as you dey pay your tithe, dem dey document everything, dem dey collect your name, amount wey you pay and de month. So if I dey go church wey dey collect tithe or donations in Bitcoin, I go dey use fiat to dey do my own because I go like to keep my bitcoin dealings very discreet.

Op you never really knack the point of the topic. Want I am getting from the content is different from the topic, you are beating around the bush. What really happened that made you to create this thread? Did any church using bitcoin as you know? Please be specific and clarify us so we can argue from a good point of view. But like this you are keeping us in the state of dilemma and suspense. If churches accept bitcoin then it is a plus to us in Nigeria because bitcoin will be use in the local market and shops because it is an indication that lower class people will use bitcoin in their dealing of transaction. Because as the church has started accepting bitcoin before we know other firms and enterprises will also accept it. And why I am saying that other businesses will accept it because in the Church, the secretary, treasurer, and other management members in the church board are from the market place and business men and women so if such thing happened in the church and they are aware that bitcoin is a good investment then, you will see them investing in it. And from there the good news will spread around to other places and before we know everyone will be using it. Yes we all know that, contemporary church pastors using different ways to extort members but the church I am going is not extorting money from members because the resident pastor is strongly against all that, we only put offering and tithe, and not blessing and prayer fees. And if churches have bitcoin wallet, it doesn't mean they are desperate but probably the pastor in the church is a computer literate and he is good with internet technology and he fully understand bitcoin so he might announce to his members that bitcoin oriented to use it to pay tithe if they want it and not for offering but for tithe, though all depends on the church. I have not even seen a pastor of a church preached about bitcoin but I have taught bitcoin in the church from the Sunday School Class because the topic was technology and discussed bitcoin from there and many members were oriented and given the awareness of bitcoin from that day. This is a good topic but your content is too shallow. Please you can edit the thread and put flesh to it.

Your point is quite skewed OP. If speaking about religious institution, I have to point you to the fact that there already exist Islamic coin, and that's a crypto currency.
Anything stopping the christians or other religious bodies from adopting or accepting or creating their own crypto currency is but a limitation of their knowledge and resources.

It would make sense to accept crypto currency in places of worship, but is it the legal tender of the country or hope it won't become an issue that might fall back to the crypto community, incase the government is looking for culprits as examples?

It will be a great move for the church, if there is any church doing this according to the op, it's a welcome idea but I doubt a Crypto investor that will send his crypto to a pastor in the name of blessing.  I think they can pay through Cryptocurrency if they wish to but I do not think that can drive the usage of bitcoins in the church except the people are educated on bitcoins.  A good and welcome development though, as it will create the awareness to them who have not heard of it before.

The videos wey I dey watch online about several churches and the way them dey carry call for seed sowing or altar call na something else. Them dey convince the members on how important sowing seed dey for church, so that this people go act according to wetin them don hear...
Na so one been dey ask for 20k dollars donation...Omo, nobody gree stand up for the church.. so in all, for them to start to introduce Bitcoin payment method simply mean say them no want excuse.. I go tell you say some churches get POS sef.

Hey guys I greet everyone and hope we are doing good. Before I start firstly guys how do would you feel when during tithe and offering and you see the user passing Bitcoin wallet address to you to make payment into?

Every country get how their own adoption go be, aren't your churches giving out account number for members to do transfer for tithe and offering, if we want adopting we should be willing to accept it in any form that it comes. Provided say the churches no dey use the thing extort their members I no get problem with am. If na just normal tithe and offering wey be say we go just scan the church address from barcodes I no get problem with am. Where I go get problem na when dem start dey ask for specific offering like those wey get Bitcoin to income out like like dem dey do now with all those 10k, 5k, special offering just to use extort money for their selfish selfs. Churches fit follow increase the awareness of bitcoin for the country because church na one thing wey we dey believe die for this country.

Quote
I think using or a church having a Bitcoin wallet shows how desperate they are and would leave no stone unturned just to get funds out of members. What are your thoughts about it .

Make we commot all biasness and forget anything wey we dey hear about churches but use a clear mind reason the thing. The world dey evolves and you no expect churches to dey backwards. Why church dey use the latest microphone dem and other things, why dem no remain for that old days type it's because they're trying to make your worshipping experience better. You fit talk the same thing for pos and Bitcoin, churches know now say people no too dey carry cash again so to make our worshipping experience better, it's only ideal that they give us an opportunity to make our tithing less stressful. One thing about life is, they way you expect to gain your success from mightn't be what will actually give you your breakthrough in life and church adopting Bitcoin is definitely going to be more positive as more people will get to know about Bitcoin. Remember what brought about Bitcoin exposure in Nigeria isn't what we all expected will do it which is ponzi scheme.

What I have to say here is that, it's only churches that are desperate for money that will start displaying bitcoin address to their members for tithe and offering, because for me personally, I believe that as long as fiat is still a very dominant means of exchange in our societies today, I see no need or reason why any church should rush to start accepting bitcoin for tithes and offering..

Majority of us in Nigeria today, still first convert our bitcoin to naira before spending, and going by this fact, why would or should I pay my Tithe in bitcoin when I will still have to convert same bitcoin to naira for spending?

If I see something like this I no fit carry nah positive vibes carry follow am, me I go see am say the church they valid and them they active to follow upgrade for things way they happen, and them doings this means say them they also encourage there members to carry on for there bitcoin kind of thing as some church or other religious worship house fit tell their member say nah evil something and say make them no do am, eh go help well well bring more acceptance of the currency to plenty people pass the way eh already they.

If you be business owner for this our country Nigeria, now way dollar rate get as eh be like this, and you happen to notice say some of your customers they always talk about bitcoin and other form of payment way them go like see for where them they shop, Watin you go do, you go like allow that one slide you bye abi you go start to accept the currency for your business their to carry support in growth, if you go accept am you they do am to please your customers and for your business to also continue to they grow so that more money fit come in for you.

Nah Watin me just see with the church them be that, Bitcoin adoption they grow if eh no enter religion area then we no fit say one full society don adopt bitcoin because we not fit put religious place out of the picture, if nah hospital wan start to accept bitcoin as part of payment we go see am say nah mass adoption and them they adopt to change, nah so me I also see am for this aspect, anything way the pastor and people way they incharge of the money wan carry am go make them do with am you way be member don do your part, if them make all payment option available for church you go choose where you go like wan spend with carry their pay your titles abi anything way you wan give church that very day.

Adoption or no adoption, no be church go fit carry this cross. In fact no be wetin church suppose concern herself into for the main time. This tithe of a thing dey always worry church even though I know say e dey biblical but dem dey always chase shadow.

If church begin dey ask members to pay tithes with btc see, well me I no see see as adoption because we go still dey where we dey, P2P. After all dem go still convert am to Naira before use or dem go push am go pastor wallet him go con hodl and wait for halving and bull run, chai see business avenue for inside church parol  Grin

Abeg adoption na when we begin use btc pay bills for government parastatals, remitta, electricity etc.

Anyway, I no know if op make up this post but him too no arrange am well or is that happening for your own church. If you get link for the info, make you drop.

Na human being fey church and pastor too na human being, so if pastor won fey collect tithe with bitcoin, I no see anything wey bad for there because that church dey help spread the adoption of bitcoin and he go benefit the church members because the people wey no send bitcoin fit come begin won know about bitcoin and the news go spread round say church A don dey collect tithe in bitcoin and from there chutch B fit copy am too. Since so many people na anything wey their pastor tell them na e them dey do because them dey find blessing.

But wait I don't think using Bitcoin to pay offering in church will be a good financial decision for the one spending the Bitcoin due to first of all, the fees to send Bitcoin to the church wallet address.
It depends on the person wey won pay the tight. Just the way wey our finger no equal na so out tithe no go fit equal. Some people tithe na from 100,000 naira above, even people wey their tight na from 50,000 self go use bitcoin pay easily without no stress. Na people wey their tithe dey very small na them no go fit use bitcoin and such people go pay with fiat. Make we no forget say bitcoin na alternative payment method.

I think so too And I blame the Nigerian society for this. I'm Nigeria where we all dey. Many people don't have the full understanding of who is referred to as a Crypto-currency enthusiast, the society or most people in the society who has low understanding believes that's any one involved in crypto is a Yahoo boy(internet fraudster) and that's why this pastors feel they should tap into that sector of the society.

Inasmuch I want the adoption of bitcoin to spread, no be for person to walk into a church and see a church as for bitcoin payment from their church members. Wetin now happen to bank payment to church account. Them wan leave am, to begin as for  bitcoin payment? That will be acceptable and unbelievable for many because church no be business avenue wey church ministers go d ask for different payment methods from their members.

Anyway, i no see this kind thing happening soon sha cos I know sae church are go with the bank transfer method wey peso d do give them.

They will not force members to pay in Bitcoin, just as they will not put their hands in someone's pocket to collect their money. I think for someone to pay tithe for offerings in the church, you do it at your will and not by force on threatening grounds. Even if you don't have the money to pay, no one has to punish you because, like you said, God's blessing or favor doesn't come with a price tag; if it does, we might not even be able to pay in full. Talking about Bitcoin in a congregation would definitely win a few people over, so I think that with Bitcoin in that church, many people would also pick up an interest and get to know what Bitcoin really is. Even if I were to pay for anything in church with Bitcoin, I would only pay the value of what I would have also paid if I were to pay with Fiat. No big deal.

As adoption is fast increasing we shouldn't expect churches to be the last as they too are into financial transactions, If the church is adopting and making cryptocurrency payment available for its members, specifically Bitcoin, is not a bad idea and it should be a thing of choice for members who find it useful, especially Bitcoin enthusiasts in that church.

Based on the recent free fall of the Naira at some point, I had to hedge and I did a crazy thing by converting my funds into Bitcoin, imagine a situation where I'm a member of this church it has saved me time converting my funds back to Naira and I will just pay my tight and offerings straight in Bitcoin.

What I do think matters here is the transparency in doing this and shouldn't be a desperate way or trick to further extort members of the church.
