It's not a new thing about monopoly in nigeria where some group of people dominate the market to frustrate the living but I like this strategy even when it is shorter term.BUA is having a new plant under construction but the old factory (ex factory)are still producing cement and have crash their cement price to ₦3500 untill first quarter of next year 2024, so basically everyone get to buy BUA cement at that price unlike Dangote that is selling for ₦5000. I want to see if Dangote will remain at ₦5000 from now till next year or will slash it's price.

This is a good marketing strategy to bring customers closer to BUA from Dangote that dominate almost every commodity in Nigeria.

This is really a welcome development, at least Bua group of company have the people of naija at heart, the suffering in the country is too much, so any role anyone at the top can play to reduce the burden of the common man is a very good thing , even though it just temporary it's ok, at least he tried, unlike most of his pearls.

This is a nice development, if Bua can stood up and make this decision then what is stopping other commodities that are made in Nigeria. What Bua just did will help many homeless Nigeria to acquire home through this means even though the period is short. Million of Nigeria will make use of the opportunity, I have a friend who purchased a land and was ready to build then the price of cement then increase, my friend have to stop with work due to the increase in the price of cement. When I so this I was very happy that finally my friend will start is building work. Bua you are a hero, you will not know what you have done for millions Nigeria.

Federal government should copy from him, If one person can do this and non individual in Nigeria will say his richer than Nigeria if really our resources are manage well, so learn from him by subsidise food products even though it is a short time we will also appreciate.

Wow this is great news from BUA cement company. Nigerians will prefer to pertronize BUA cement than Dangote cement company, If this decision is implemented, it will greatly benefit our country. Because many people have plans to construct but their cannot afford the cost of cement, particularly we poor. We're struggling to purchase the land and there's no money to buy the cement, this will definitely force Dangote to reduce his cement price as well. Since BUA strateging will take over from Dangote cement.

I saw the news and if really this news is legit and it really come to pass, then this will be one of the best news in the year. And BUA is going to make name and sell market from cement industry. I know strongly well that oga kpatakpata (Dangote) will also reduce his to the speculated price #2,500 and there will be a competition in the market. I read this news today and all I can say for now is let's hope that our president doesn't change his mind about this development all decide to retrieve the license that is given to the director of BUA cement so that only dangote will continue to be the only existing cement in the country thereby making the price of cement to be increasing every time.

One good thing about the news is that they gave the current date that the price will be reduced hopefully all the citizens will abandon dangote cement to buy BUA cement where the price is some how affordable, I hope dangote won't reduce the price of his products since he wants a bag of cement to be sold for #9000 while some time ago news came out that the same cement that is sold for #5000 in Nigeria being dangote's country is sold at 1500 in Benin Republic which is not his country.

But if the news is true, then it’s really nice, Dangote and Lafage no go get choice than make dem reduce their own price also, or people no go patronize them again, for Nigeria wey things hard like this, people will always go for cheaper products. The Best market strategy to reduce Monopoly market, is price reduction. When there is Monopoly in the economy things becomes expensive. Dangote is one of our biggest problem in Nigeria. he was the only one given license to dominate the country. there by making other investors inrelivant. He is virtually into manufacturing and distributing almost everything in this country and all are expensive.

If every investor reduce their market price like this I think others will no longer continue with their price. And it will serve as an example to others. People always have that thinking that Dangote cement is the best and making other cement company not relevant but with the way things are I believe no body cares to know about quality anymore.

I am really happy about this development. But I pray the price wount change from the distributors just like forever101 said.. because that is one problem with 9ja. Dey always see every opportunity as a get rich quick scheme.

It was even Dangote's cement I learnt reduced their sales price from #5,000 to #2,500. I still don't know how true this is because I don't use cement for now, but if BUA and Lafarge are following suit, if us a welcomed development as it will reduce monopoly greatly and encourage other cement manufacturers to come up.

The news is a very welcome one and a news that will bring about relief in some parts that it’s used for (for building and infrastructure). This will further cushion the effect of fuel subsidy that was removed earlier thereby getting a bag of cement for almost same price it was before the fuel subsidy was removed when correlated together. Subsidizing the price of goods like this should have been the main aim of the subsidy removal in order for citizens to not feel and go through the hassle they are now as a result of the subsidy that was removed. This is the best possible palliative approach that if they employ to other sectors it’ll help cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal. I hope the big rebels (wealthy monopolists) don’t hijacked this cements and later sell at high price to end users again because it is something they can do.

For my place, d way Dangote cement dey everywhere naso BUA cement dey too. There was a time when Dangote Cement sold expired cements to customers, those cements were supposed to be disposed and not sold again but maybe some factory workers smuggled them out and still sold to end users, which affected many buildings and constructions they were used for because I also experienced one that time. Since then, builders here always prefer to use BUA cement than Dangote cement because of what happened, as some people still felt it was their builders that didn’t know how to the work not knowing or believing it was the expired cement sold that caused it. BUA cement here gets finished on time because of its demand than Dangote cement which is always available but no much patronage than before. BUA cement is even N100 more costly than Dangote cement due to its demand here.

OMO this news has been all the fuss everywhere and na very good news because to buy cement bag for the country come they turn to something else, sometimes the thing just dey baffle me because am still suprise how a country wey get all the raw materials to produce that product give him citizens come they use am means to exploit from it citizens and the one way dey pain me pass na the issue with dangote cement group because I know how legit the rumour be but I don hear am for many times say dangote dey actually sell cement for cheap price for country outside Nigeria and back home here him wan cut our necks which if na true is the height of wickedness. I have always been a supporter of fair market competition, no favouritism!
During Obasanjo's regime, Ibeto cement was doing well. They partnered with some industries in the US to flood the Nigerian market with quality and cheap cement. They even brought in their vessels loaded with cement to Onne Port Rivers State but the then government seized the vessels using some flimsy excuses and that was how the whole cement spoilt and the man was forced to give up.

If the present administration is opening the market to fair competition, then it is a welcomed development.

After I read this news online with the circular, many thoughts came over me and I was wondering what prompted this action from this man because I believe something must have made him to do this. For him to have taken this measures to drastically cut down the price in the cost of his product then it means the price of cement is far cheaper than what they sell which shows that  the price hike was intentional and were bent on imposing high price on their commodity because they are just few in the line of business and as such would have the market dominance and nobody to compete with them.

It's easy to say Dan done. Ever since this decision was made on the 1st of October to the 12th being today no good information concerning the price changes. I have heard Coples of people complaining that the change of price is just only on Internet but no were is selling for #3500. 

People selling on retail said dey want to clear theirs old stock, before accepting the new price. And now even if dey buy #3500 from factory, they can not sell that same amount they bought. They will like to make profit, so there for to me I see no possibility of achieving that price in my own understanding.

No be even about the old stock or whether the retailers will get refund of old stock on new stock, that is even covered in the publication but my own be say for naija, things na the more you look the less you see. Check wetin be today's date but nothing don begin happen for that regards, all na propaganda and if seriousness go dey we for don see dangote begin drop price first and where him never do am, na look we go still dey look. If all business men in the country will be like AA RANO oil and BUA cement then the poor in the country will indeed have some air to breath,  this move by BUA cement is going to set them at a position that will place the company on a market take over in the long term unless if the competitors do what is more than what BUA cement have done presently and even at that also we have to encourage the company for taking the bold steps to stand by Nigerian in the economic hard time.

BUA cement, Eagle cement and other cements that I can't remember suppose be in the market so that they will be a labour market, why a cement is causing high in nigeria is because of government and some of our leaders who basically live in northern part nigeria that uses nigeria political money to in rich their own brother, son and father Alico Dangote, this man called Dangote is the person making nigerias to suffer and course of everything continues to go up because every things, all the commodity is depend on him.

If bua cement and Eagle was existing the way it was before I think that Dangote would have taken the price  of cement to 4500 and approximately 5000, so it's bad that people of nigeria is living in hardship and continues to deep in theirselves into hardship because of one system of governance they are practicing in Nigerian, whereas if Dangote export cement to the near by African countries its being sold at cheaper rate, why all the materials used to process the cement raw materials is being gotten free in nigeria and none of the materials use to manufacture Dangote cement is being imported from any country.

It's very bad of Dangote using his country to exercise richness because of bad governance, now that BUA is out to sell, you will see that cement will be in competitive form and Dangote will stabilise the price  of cement to equate it to this particular price of BUA cement because their is a competition in the business and if Dangote refuses to keep his price and he will lose more customers.

The last time I checked, I heard the manufacturers are justling for price rate ever since BUA cement slashed the price of cement to the current price they are selling. I think there is more to this move by BUA founder than we could imagine. The cartel holding that industry seems to have had enough but whatever the case maybe,  BUA just did something every reasonable human would have deep thought about and do. This move by him will definitely
cause reform in that particular industry that would benefit every Nigerian and the nation as a whole. BUA cement has taken over the cement industry. It is either other sellers or manufacturers do the needful or they miss out.
