I have made a bold decision to start my bitcoin journey. But just like every a new born baby needs close care and attention to grow I really don't want to make a mistake in any thing I am doing. I have this question to ask.
''Is it advisable to to have a mentor who I can always go to as a newbie in the crypto space or I should rely all my knowledge on things I read online for my growth.
Having a mentor as a guardian in bitcoin is not actually a bad idea but at same time it can also make you lazy and limit your knowledge at same time make f not well managed. Some newbies by virtue of having a  mentor grow lazy as they depend on acquiring every knowledge about bitcoin and cryptocurrency from their mentor that they don't give much priority to the DIYOR principal that is potent to broaden their bitcoin knowledge beyond where their mentors' knowledge ends.
Another negative effect of searching for a mentor is that you could fall into the wrong hands and naivety may be taken advantage of in scamming you. So as newbies make the internet your mentor followed by the bitcointalk forum you've found yourself in.

I could say that learning about Bitcoin is easy as we can a lot of information online but some of this information is not true. We can find it by ourselves but having a mentor is not a bad idea either provided that you never have to pay him/her huge. The advantage of having a mentor is to make you learn faster and guide you directly to what you want to know but still, the results may vary depending on how you understand the market and your decision-making.
But if I were you, I'd rather not spend money for having a mentor instead, I use it to invest in Bitcoin. Beside, through experience, we can learn more.

If you can do it on your own, there is no need for a mentor but if you do research and the idea about Bitcoin is still vague, then I think that is the time you need someone to teach you.  Getting a mentor is not a bad thing because it can speed up the time of learning since knowledgeable and capable gurus are able to teach things that are really needed in your Bitcoin journey especially when you are into Bitcoin trading.  having a person to teach us all about of trading can help us to digest knowledge easily since they can explain things to us in a simple form.

In anything we are doing, we need someone that can guide us to make everything easy for us and to be able to learn faster. So when you are planning to join the crypto space, if you have someone that can guide you, then it’s also a good idea, but you also need someone that’s kind of reliable. Also, because you have a mentor who is going to guide you, that does not mean you should depend on the person alone. Make sure you still do more research and accumulate knowledge about crypto by yourself. There are things that you are supposed to hide from your mentor, like your private key. No one can be completely trusted.

If you can do it on your own, there is no need for a mentor but if you do research and the idea about Bitcoin is still vague, then I think that is the time you need someone to teach you.
The best way is to do it alone, but as a newbie, it won’t be easy, and it might even increase the way in which the person will lose, so if there is someone to guide, then things will be easier, and since the mentor has experience already, then things will go easily. But if there is no one to teach the OP, then he will still have to learn it the hard way.

I've read Alot of comments and I think you've gotten all th best answers you deserve and you should be well grounded and doing your own research despite any thing you hear or see has always been the best and I will always encourage you to do your research irrespective of who broke the news to you.
As long as cryptocurrency and Bitcoin is concerned, I think the forum is already enough mentor for you to ask whatever question that might be complicated to you and I'm sure there are already enough generous people and users out here who will be willing to guide you without a dime from you.

One thing that I learned from a podcast is you need to find a mentor who could teach you, I mean its probably not going to be a direct mentor but if you're just going to do it by yourself it is going to be difficult and you're going to make a lot of mistakes at first which is pretty normal since we all make mistakes, but there was a way to avoid making mistakes If you're going to find a mentor or probably research about it, ask someone about it first you could probably learn from their mistakes avoiding possible mistakes that you could do in your investment.

I mean it's a good thing that we are in the forum because we have a lot of discussions and I think its already similar to finding a mentor because you also learning and they are teaching you how you going to execute, so your surely gonna need a mentor but it doesnt really need to be a personal one or only one mentor, you could ask here in the forum, which is the answer by a lot of experience member that could easily teach you what their experience is.

It depends on you dude, if you are the type of person who is indecisive and always confused about something then you need a mentor who will always give you direction which is one of the best. but if you are steady, and always walking forward, then you don't need that. It's all about control where you can't handle it yourself. Mentors also need to be given money, He doesn't feel good if you always ask, but never give him something, which gives him the pleasure of always giving you direction. If I were you, I don't need that, because you are already here and have always answer your question if you don't know about bitcoin.

Most online mentors will work for their own profit. I know there are no services as a mentor, but what I mean is everyone will try to use you to get some commission. Start reading more and more and gather more knowledge from various sources. If you know how to search, you will likely get some good results. The first thing to do is select a reputed non-custodial software wallet.

Learn how not to get hacked or tricked. Do not rely on exchanges to keep your Bitcoin. Please do not use them as a wallet. If you have questions during your bitcoin journey, do not hesitate to ask in this community.

Since you are a newbie and you have a lot of interest to know about Bitcoin, you need to learn about Bitcoin. The first advice I will give you is that you should never go into investing until you have gained knowledge about the Bitcoin market. Investing can be profitable when you gain complete knowledge about Bitcoin and get good education. Also you never invest in alert coin expecting high profit, it will be risky for you so you avoid it invest bitcoin. Since you are a newbie in the crypto space, you should note and read all the guidelines thoroughly so that you can move forward in the future. Also you must be from a country, so I would suggest you that this forum has local boards for all countries. So you go to your local board and post there and there are various guidelines made in your language, read them surely you will gain knowledge soon.

Well, if there's someone willing to guide you (someone you personally know), that's better. But if you're going to pay for the service then it's not ideal. A mentor is not necessary to start your journey in Bitcoin since everything a newbie needs to know can be done if you exert an effort to do your own research.

Plenty of articles are on the internet (just choose a reliable source), full of information about Bitcoin. Hence, make reading a habit to gain knowledge. And of course as others have said, this forum is a reliable source of information, not just for Bitcoin but for crypto in general.

It is recommended to have a mentor who can accompany you while you learn about crypto, but it is optional because with the ease of internet access, you have, you can search for more information from the internet.
You can have a mentor, but you should not depend too much on him because he also has his own life to which he needs to pay attention.
You can ask him but give him space to take care of his life because you also need to grow while you are learning about crypto.
Choose a mentor from people you know closely so that he doesn't expect anything in return but because he really wants to share what he knows about crypto.
And that's not easy because most people who are asked to explain something won't want to explain it in detail and we have to be more active in looking for more information.

I don't think you need a mentor to grow in your Bitcoin journey OP, all you need to do to improve in Bitcoin journey is to do yourself a favor to start reading any books that contains Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, I believe you will achieve something that will make Bitcoin journey easy for you to grow faster in the community. Many newbies has loss a lot of things based on they depended upon mentor online that lead them to frustration, because they paid all their attention to mentor without be active in the forum or reading cryptocurrency books. If you want to make the journey easy, ensure you always read some of the legendary and Hero members comments, and I believe it will help you to grow well in quality Post and other things in the community.

So try whatever it is yourself first, take it slow, if you get stuck then ask someone or your friend who is more expert. So, with independent efforts at the start and if you have failed several times, there will be specific questions from you that you should ask your mentor, as long as the mentor has experience and morals in providing guidance to you. because at the end of the story the object is talking about profits and losses in investment (for example, you want to invest in BTC)

Yes. He will answer it and it will be very easy to explain it to you because his mentor was also small and crawled before becoming an expert. But what you have to remember is that a mentor is like a driver who directs you to your destination towards success.

That's what I think, too. Who needs a mentor when you have the privilege to read the opinion of hundreds os crypto veterans in this forum? And, as the talk is public, almost no one with a reputation to maintain will lie to you, so you can forget about the trust factor (not Trust with capital letter, btw, which is always interesting to check).

As most members told you, DYOR, and I would suggest to start little by little, while you gain confidence. I hope you a beautiful crypto-journey.

Re: Do I need a mentor in my bitcoin journey.
Not necessarily, but having one will shorten your road towards those knowledge that you will be needing in the future.

Not having a mentor means, you will be going left and right, meaning you might experience some things that you don't necessarily need in the future. Having a mentor meaning he/she will help you to have those knowledge that you will be needing.

As for me, I didn't have any mentor that guided me. Youtube guided me as well as this forum thru different threads. Youtube documentaries lead me to various knowledges. Threads here in the forum added some information that I needed. I didn't have a mentor, since most of the information can already be found online. I mean it's up to you if you need a mentor or not, but as for me, having one is good, but not having one isn't the end of the word because there's a thing called self-learning.

With the silly mistakes some crypto users do make such as storing funds on CEX, storing funds in closed source wallets, clicking phishing links and investing in pump and dump projects. So oh yeah! I think you need a mentor, the forum should be your mentoring ground where your mentorship starts. So stick around, read crypto articles both in and outside the forum, participate in ongoing discussions, ask questions in areas you need clarity. In no time you will be equipped with the basic knowledge you need to go about your bitcoin sojourn as well as other crypto investments.

Having mentor is not too ideal when it comes to bitcoin. You know why? The two of you might have wrong conception about bitcoin and you wouldn't know and whatever wrong thing he tells you, you will accept it without doing further research.

The best approach about this, do your own personal research about bitcoin, paper works on bitcoin is there around the internet, all the pages in the internet cannot be lying, if out of 10 have information about bitcoin, 8 of them will be saying the same thing about bitcoin, the forum is another place to understand everything about bitcoin.

I have this question to ask.
''Is it advisable to to have a mentor who I can always go to as a newbie in the crypto space or I should rely all my knowledge on things I read online for my growth.
In my personal opinion, having a mentor and not having a mentor will likely yield the same results in the crypto world. Because you need to know, to learn the ins and outs of the crypto world, the key is just the desire you have and never be lazy to continue learning all the knowledge. Because currently information and knowledge about cryptocurrency is widely available on the internet. Such as on websites in the form of writing, on YouTube in the form of videos, and one of them is in the BTT forum. So basically you just need to have a strong intention, then get rid of laziness, and after that you just have to apply the knowledge you have learned to trading or investing in cryptocurrency.

And having a mentor who can guide you in the world of crypto is definitely the same as learning autodidactically. Maybe the difference is, in terms of learning it will definitely be shorter. Because by having a mentor, everything you want to learn about cryptocurrency has been prepared by that mentor and you don't need to bother looking for information first. So in essence, I personally have a neutral opinion regarding the existence of mentors. Because actually, if you look at it from a scientific point of view regarding the crypto realm. Even if you learn it yourself, as long as you have a strong desire, the results will definitely be optimal.

Apart from that, what you need to know is that once you invest or trade crypto, there is definitely one thing that you will definitely learn better than from a mentor. Namely learning from the experience you have regarding crypto trading or investment. Personally, I think an experience is an indelible and very useful lesson to become better at trading or investing in the crypto world.

Welcome to the bitcointalk Forum. Since you are new to this forum you must first follow the forum rules. If you are interested in learning about Bitcoin and Crypto. So do your own research first because you won't learn anything good when you follow someone else's advice.

I don't need your advice for this. Because observing yourself can be the most experienced. You may prefer Bitcointalk forum to learn. You know the answer as soon as you ask any question. And through that you will get answers to your unknown questions. The more time you spend on this forum the more experienced you will become. Just by your will power.
