Well it's no suprise to me and thats why so many people here actually advise not to force someone into bitcoin knowledge and in the case of fraud, well even the fiat currency are use for scamming not only bitcoin. This shouldn't be an excuse anymore as anybody still thinking this way is been ignorant, Bitcoin isn't a platform but a currency and there's no way it'll scam you when you make your investment rightly by buying from exchanges that aren't fraudulent. You only get scammed when you try to buy or sell Bitcoin using scam exchanges or trust random scammers online claiming to be Bitcoin merchants.

This statement is kind of confusing but Bitcointalk purpose is to connect Bitcoin enthusiasts, the platform isn't an investment platform or place to earn Bitcoin for a living, anything that you earn while you're on the forum should be seen as a privilege and not as a main source of income. People welcomed here aren't people that their sole purpose of been on the forum is to earn but to learn.

The only time I can think about our environment contributing to the fear of we not investing in Bitcoin is when they're banned in our country but to date no country has officially banned Bitcoin and when you talk about other types of fear, the internet is opened to everyone to do their search and we shouldn't be influence by what others are saying concerning bitcoin but DYOR to find out the truth or you'll be deceived and miss out on an opportunity to invest in Bitcoin early (again).

Op just as one of the member made mention I'll like to reiterate it that this (bitcointalk) isn't an investment platform it's rather a community of crypto enthusiasts that come together to rub minds about our common interest crypto.

Moving further I will agree with OP that the environment we find ourselves can be a hindrance to we not being open-minded to new ideas just so sudden, it's all about giving them time. Because you accepted the idea when it was first introduced to you doesn't mean people around you will do same.
A mistake we shouldn't commit is to force or try to convince people about investing in bitcoin when they haven't willingly out of their volition agreed to. Those people who lose interest because of fear of being scammed refer to Altcoin and not Bitcoin, and they don't want to learn and understand the main principles behind Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. They also lack knowledge about blockchain technology.

There is a difference between an investment platform and a Bitcoin investment; when I hear investment platform, my mind is going to an altcoin or centralized platform where you will give them your money to control for a while and give you back with some interest when they are done, while bitcoin investment is using your money to buy Bitcoin, keeping it in your personal wallet, and waiting till you are on profit before selling.

Due to the high rate of scammers around the globe, the majority of people have entirely lost interest in everything to do with investments, including bitcoin and other types of investments, so I wouldn't claim it is just with bitcoin that people have lost interest in. 

Because of people's gullibility toward bitcoin, quite a good number of people have been duped by it, and they are not happy about it. I wouldn't hold it against them in the slightest of their refusal to invest in bitcoin. They do remember the lost financial experience they suffered at the hands of scammers who ask them to invest in bitcoin, the same way you do as introducing bitcoin to them as a tool for investment.

One would not fully accept investing in bitcoin with simple convincing, without doubting it, that you plan to defraud him as well, after having that kind of experience years or months ago.

Don't feel bad if a friend of yours thinks poorly of bitcoin. Due to his prior Bitcoin experience, he is simply acting on that. It's possible that someone stole his money by convincing him to invest in bitcoin.

Bitcoin is not a scam coin. People are afraid of investing in Bitcoin because clear information about what Bitcoin is and how Bitcoin works and how Bitcoin is used is not well known.
Bitcoin is not a platform, but Bitcoin is a currency that can be used for payment processing and with Bitcoin anyone can make transactions from one address to another throughout the world.

Modern society should be aware and know Bitcoin even though I realize that there are areas that lack supporting facilities such as no internet access so information about Bitcoin does not reach there.
In general, information about Bitcoin has reached almost all modern society.
I think the fear of investing could be because the first type of investment they made was not in Bitcoin but in another project which caused them to lose money so the fear of investing will not disappear.

It is not the fear of being scammed that makes people not to invest in bitcoin because bitcoin holding on noncustodial wallet have the characteristics that the holder have full control. If the holder is scared and want secure wallets, cold wallets or multisig wallet can be used  for the holding.

When there are people like that, it's just best to stop encouraging them or explaining anything about Bitcoin. This is going to save you from trouble, debates, and your most precious times. If you tell them tons of good things about Bitcoin, they will remember nothing and if you tell them one bad thing about it like its volatility which is mostly a bad thing to many then they will remember it as a bad thing wholly. In general these internet scams, it's true that it has discouraged a lot of people from looking into Bitcoins and taking an interest in them. But we can't blame them if they're missing it and protecting themselves as if they're on the bad side upon showing interest in it. And I don't blame that ideology people have to be careful with what they invest in, there is a lot of scam projects all around and scammers  are always creating more means, and they will look for ways to convince you so that you don't have a choice than to give in, but this days people are becoming smarter in the sence that they are careful how they put their money online. And even with bitcoin now people are smart and at least they have little knowledge on how bitcoin works. Unlike back in the days that people don't believe in bitcoin but now even in the television you must have heard about bitcoin or even come across any kind of information on net.

talking about someone's fear of investing in bitcoin, it's not easy to persuade them to invest in bitcoin, I once told about a friend of mine who broke up with me because he sold his bitcoin at a loss during the bearish market in 2020, at that time he said told me that I had deceived him by persuading him to invest his money in bitcoin, even though if he had just wanted to be patient then there would have been no loss because the number of bitcoins he had would never change, now I am sure he regrets all the impatience he did at that time, bitcoin was not designed for the short term, but for the long term.

Scam is one thing that I can say that have tried to retard the global acceptance of bitcoin but it's actually normal because anything that  is good can also be use by same humans for bad things because the potential of it's good is exploited by human that tend to be successful over other people's sweat.

And again introducing bitcoin to people can be really tricky sometimes because some of those people you have introduced can turned back at you because maybe they experience a big decline in the market price.
