Crypto giveaway or airdrop fraud is nothing new, there are always people who use someone's big name to trick their victims. And the victims targeted by fraudsters are those who have a greedy nature
Your position is absolutely correct. Giveaways or airdrops are 99% fraud, and the majority of scams are full of scammers. The work of these people is to abuse people by giving them money. And as you said in the giveaway, people often use the trick of big names and cheat by giving greed for money. Yes, of course, I myself have witnessed such incidents. Among my acquaintances, there are people who cheat people by tempting them with money in fake NFT giveaways. However, you should be aware to avoid such sacrifices. These people do not wish you well, that they will really give you money, etc. for free, but the purpose of these people is to rob you. It is obvious that greed for money is in the nature of every human being. Even if he gets a lot of money, he should not be so greedy that the scammer does not make you a part of his scam.

So the purpose of saying this is that these people are always trying to make you a part of their trap by trying hard everywhere. So keep yourself away from similar activities if someone gives you an offer of patience that if you invest so much, you will get so much in return. So don't do the same thing; it is not a return but a deception that they want to take away the little fund you have.

This is not a new thing in crypto space, even videos are used to scam people using AI software to spawn popular actors or crypto developers like Vitalik and people still believe such things, it's sad to think about how many new investors are losing money to scammers online almost everyday, there is always a first time for everyone in everything and mine was not much different.

I remember falling victim to BTCdoublers in 2017 where someone I knew make deposit to the address and he was sent some extra Bitcoin, on seeing this I decide to give a try and I never get anything back, not even the amount I sent to the address, we are all a victim to something until we learn.

If you are a beginner reading through these replies, my advice for you is to always ask questions on this forum before making any financial steps, no matter how legit something looks to you, with thousands of users on here, they must have passed through what you called 'legit' before, maybe it's not what you believe it to be? It's part of why this forum exists.

So many red flags.
Is it still a giveaway if they ask you for something before you can get it?
A site owner wants to do a giveaway and he's dropping a link for you to go to another site that is not his for the giveaway.
Who does a giveaway of over $139 million? That alone should make you ask a lot of questions.
If billionaires want to give back to the community, there are several charity projects they spend that money on that will benefit and impact more lives instead of just giving it away.

I'm going to blame Elon Musk for scams like this on X (twitter).
Since he took over the app, a lot of bots have thrived on the app and he seems to be doing nothing about it.
The moment you make a crypto-related tweet, your tweet will be attacked with several bots dropping links or commenting on the tweet.

As crypto develops, there are many positive and negative things. Many cryptocurrencies are being used by individuals, making crypto appear negative and now it is an easy place for fraud to occur on Twitter or other social media. It is far from the concept of its initial goal which seemed to be taking advantage of the popularity of crypto itself. Many have become victims of Airdrops and givemaways with tempting results with an easy task or with small capital they can get big profits.

Therefore, as crypto lovers, we must have a culture of reading carefully so that we don't understand it mixed up and end up harming ourselves.

Crypto giveaway or airdrop fraud is nothing new, there are always people who use someone's big name to trick their victims. And the victims targeted by fraudsters are those who have a greedy nature, therefore fraudsters always offer promises of high income even though it is clearly impossible, for example, you say 4000BTC but we have to send 1BTC like this condition is unreasonable and clearly fraudulent.
Such fraud has happened very often in the past through several things where the basic concept is that everyone has to send Bitcoin first to get more Bitcoin. Obviously this makes no sense even if the fraudster brings anyone's big name into his program, because he will definitely choose the name of someone who is already very rich and famous to deceive more people who are easily influenced by what he says through his writings in any media.

Quote
I almost got caught in a Twitter scam myself. He invited his acquaintance, claiming to be Korean. In the end, they offer crypto for great rewards. We have to be careful like this, don't be easily tempted by the lure of wealth. Nor does anyone get rich by trying to get rich. There is no such thing
Unreasonable lures should always be avoided because things like that have often happened in the past or when approaching certain moments such as halving. I have also seen several people who were deceived through airdrop programs that required each participant to send valuable coins to the program creator with the offer that they would get ten times the amount they sent. But all of that is just empty talk because basically no one is willing to sacrifice more money for free without any work.

Giveaway scams will be on the rise now that the bull market is nearing. Scammers will love to use the approaching bull run to trick people into believing in their bogus ideas. They always have a unique method of convincing their victims that what they are saying is true when it is not. Newbies and others must exercise extreme caution and be vigilant in order to avoid falling victim to such schemes. Not only newcomers, but I've seen that certain people are greedy, and fraudsters are always on the lookout for folks like that to scam on the go.

I'm not an expert on this new technology, but if I'm not wrong, the AI is being taught to not answer certain types of questions, specifically ilegal or immoral ones (like how one could destroy the world with the help of artificial intelligence).

As others said, giveaway scams are not anything new, and I don't think that artificial intelligence will have a great impact on the matter. Maybe some scammers will take advantage in the beginning, but IMO these problems will be addressed soon, if not already.

Scam is really on the increase in this computerized age, scammers are taking advantage of modern technological advancements like A1 technology to defraud unsuspecting individuals of their hard earned money. I'm always very careful and vigilant anytime i see any too good to be true offers on the internet, because most of them are scams. It goes beyond greed to be scammed this days, because some offers can come in innocent forms, like links telling you to apply for America visa or to work in Canada, people from other continents that are looking to migrate to these countries for greener pastures are easily enticed to open the link, only for them to be directed to a phishing site in the link.
Some will ask you for processing fees immediately to facilitate the journey. Most times this links are forwarded to you by trusted individuals who ignorantly resend it to their loved ones.

I've stated my opinion on issues like this in a similar thread where I said that it's best to treat every unknown persons or sites as potential scams, this will help you not to easily relax your guard to trust them.

Scammers are constantly coming up with new ways to con people, and it is nothing new for them to utilize modern technologies to make it harder for victims to control their schemes. Scammers use a variety of techniques to con people. They always seem to get a lot of attention with this giveaway technique, in my opinion. I have no idea why some individuals think that free money is so real, especially when it comes to things in the internet.

Since everyone wants to be the richest person in the world and we as humans are supposed to know how difficult it is to obtain money, I didn't expect even newbies to fall for this type of scam, even though I am aware that many of the people who fall victim to these types of scams are novices. Instead, I thought that even novices would understand that scammers are the ones who are having fun and that there isn't any free money on the internet.

There are numerous fake giveaways floating around Twitter. You don't even need to spot a fake giveaway; simply ignore those that offer free money. You have to keep in mind that nothing in the world is free. So if you fall into the free-earnings trap, you may lose everything. Hackers would drain your wallet somehow when you inputed your wallet credentials to their fake giveaway website. Mostly, Twitter and Telegram have become safe havens for scammers lately. So when you find something with free-earnings offers on social platforms, just ignore it and be safe.

Giveaway scam is evolving everyday on different social medias, with cybercriminals coming up with great ideas. Which ideas, I think are no longer financed by human brains, but AI. Hence, they'll never run out of AI generated Ideas, on how to con cryptocurrency investors. I found a very real looking tweet of Elon Musk promising a party to users and a link under the tweet. Such tweet, when not looked into, one may think Elon tweeted it. Newbies should be careful of 4000BTC giveaways demanding for 1BTC to be eligible to win the giveaway. The scammers only play with people's fantasies. And when I thought their ideas, came to a halt. Chatgpt was birthed. Scammers took advantage of the AI, by asking it bad questions and earning ideas in return. Although the admins of OpenAI claim to be working on that, but new research shows that, even if the AI is trained not to give answers to questions regarding scam ideas, and terrorism in English, bad players can ask with alternative languages like Zulu. And the AI would respond using that language. Thereby increasing the rate of Giveaway scam ideas. So, newbies and everyone should stay careful of phishing emails, tweets etc promoting a giveaway. It's unlikely to get a genuine crypto giveaway. It's better to stay clear of it, as the few information required of you to join the giveaway can be used to sweep your cryptocurrency. Most of them are now equipped with AI generated Ideas, from what I understood from this article

Image from a crypto giveaway article by coinbase https://www.coinbase.com/blog/crypto-giveaway-scams-and-how-to-spot-them
Most tea these big names and celebrities do post disclaimers about them asking any one for money of conducting such giveaways but these scammers understand the psychology of unsuspecting internet users  who are probably gullible and seeking opportunities to earn online and take advantage of it.

It's common sense to understand that most of these big names cannot and will not conduct such using their personal social profile, I'd they want to do any of such they do it via promotions with organized platforms or to charity. So when you see such post on personal profile belonging to such big personality, the obvious should be that it's a copy account by scammers and you shouldn't fall victim to such. These scammers are becoming so innovative by the day such that all they need you do is click on those links and they will gain full access to your profile and manipulate what ever they wish to so it's advisable not to send money to anyone you don't know that has no official documentation and do not click on any link that looks suspicious

Oh believe me scams like this will never end no matter the rules from the social media platform they are smart and also evolving, In fact to this date I'm still get personal messages from scammers through Telegram and Discord.

Sometimes I see their ad on youtube and twitter like you have said before but direct approach is using telegram and discord you ask a question in a big group like BNB or Trustwaller telegram you will directly called by the scammer.

Avoid Guys if you are offered by something that looks impossible to achieve like an Investment with a 1000000% return in just 3 days

That's right whenever I open my Twitter I saw many tweets like this and day by day they are getting stronger and they invent new methods and now they are getting Ideas from AI so this is worse thing. Many innocent people catch in there traps and lost the money. The people who don't know them they always dive in the scam world otherwise others know that they are just scamming people. Be careful and be safe. Smiley

Even before, these fake giveaways are already existing so this is not new actually. However, scammers now are getting smarter to use the new technology to come up with better ideas and strategy to lure the people. Especially now that Christmas season is coming, it's already expected that this kind of fake giveaways will increase.

Thus, we should be careful, especially the newbies who are not too familiar with this. Don't believe easily and always verify the legitimacy of the giveaway and the one who's conducting it. If you have doubt just ignore these giveaways.

You are right OP, similar give away scam like this was used to scam over 100btc during  the covid 19 pandemic. That time Bill gate and Elon musk was the two person that the scammers used to scam people of their bitcoin.

The scam statement on Twitter was written like this I have benefited a lot from the community and I want to give back to the community. Anyone that send any amount of bitcoin to this address will be given back double of what he sent. And a lot of people fell for it at that time. It was when I learnt about this giveaway scams. Don't be greedy and think of reaping from where you did not sow from, because you will end up being a victim.

This is not just one or two times you see such giveaway scams but if you are active on twitter and other social media platforms, you will find many people would be using these personalities name and scamming. Even they would be running a live which a pre-recorded any interview of Elon Musk and scamming people through the descriptions and chat.

I was wondering, many people would be their traps and they are running this as their business, else why would they do this if only few people get scammed. Seems like vast majority of the people are their victim.

Its time we should learn that such giveaways are fake and no one is going to give us free money. Actually it is our human nature of getting some free money, that temps us to fall for these scams.

Many people will understand this scam content and many people will be cheated by fraudsters here. Especially those who are new here lose a lot of money from all these giveaways, and they face losses. There are many scam giveaway campaigns currently running on various social media, so it's best not to join them as if there is a wallet connected there you may be exposed to fraud. If you deposit money again, it is not possible to withdraw that money later, instead there is a trap for fraud. So it would be wisest to keep yourself free from all these giveaways and better for newbies, and they won't get scammed. But there are many giveaways where people can earn good amount of money without scams, especially in all the exchanges where such giveaways are available. So all the airdrops that come on top exchanges are fine, but I think it's not right to deposit money or connect a wallet there.

So, newbies and everyone should stay careful of phishing emails, tweets etc promoting a giveaway. It's unlikely to get a genuine crypto giveaway. It's better to stay clear of it, as the few information required of you to join the giveaway can be used to sweep your cryptocurrency.

The better choices will be to avoid all giveaways and airdrops we see on social medias. This days even going to the official twitter handle to confirm a giveaways or airdrop news isn't safe anymore because those handlers are getting hacked by hackers and been used to validate their scams. We have to increase our security awarenesses and also avoid using our main wallets that we use for holding our Bitcoin or other cryptocurency to use in participation in any online tasks that's if we must interact with them.

The rate at which scammers using the twitter CEO to scam people is increasing so why don't we just consider anything that has to do with Elon musk and giveaway a scam. They're not only on twitter as I see them too when watching some crypto related YouTube videos. Scammers are advancing and the used of AI makes their scamming ideas endless and that's one of the disadvantages of this new technology as they'll enhanced those that want to use it negatively.

The more Bitcoin gets popular, the more we get more scammers and hackers pick interest in the industry because they know they can easily find gullible victims here as the market is full of newbies with little or no experience. We shouldn't be ignorant or we'll regret as we become victims of this scam, we have to be one step ahead of this scammers and that's by staying informed.

Yes, scammers have different system of scamming people these days and newbies are their major target in the community, because they know that newbies are very easy to be deceive with their fake information. I believe, many bitcoiners will start avoiding giveaway now in any forum based on what is happening now because it pain when someone loose a huge amount of money to scammers, and there is no way you can get the money back because all those fraudsters are very smart in doing such negative things which will be very difficult for anybody to catch them to recover the money back. I think, those people falling victim to those giveaway scammers are greedy people, because I don't know why some people will just believed that there is a free Bitcoin or Ethereum as giveaway and people will begin to send their personal details that will give access to scammers.

These types of scams have been going on for a long time. In 2020 there was a major incident where the twitter accounts of high-profile personalities like Joe Biden and Elon Musk were compromised and they tweeted out an address and promised to multiply your Bitcoin if you sent BTC to them. The scammers were eventually caught because they sent some of their funds to centralized exchanges which had their KYC information.

It is disheartening to hear that scammers are now exploiting AI(Artificial Intelligence) by asking it misleading question to generate more scam ideas. It is essential for everyone to stay alert and be wary of phishing emails tweets and other promotion that claim to offer cryptocurrency giveaways.
Scammers always try to attack on the mind of a human. They just think wisely and set a good mind to grab money from other people. So everyone should be careful.
Everywhere everyday there are many scammers wand to us Tobe thier victims and one of the best example is like what Op said above, anyways  there are many people around the world did not know yet abot crypto air maybe they will know but very small knowledge and I think that's the reason why they fall this kind of trap by the (AI) scammers and as we can see about how the AI messages.
This is the bad of an AI cause once it's program about this kind of work then all along AI will scamm.
