I was listening to a news that one of the relatives of a person kidnapped him and asked him for bitcoin in ransom. This happened because that person showed his bitcoin holdings to many of his relatives and news spread among them that he has lot of money invested in crypto. Though, finally funds were recovered from that guy but he could have even lost his life in the whole scenario. Thus, you should be careful with disclosing about your bitcoin holdings to everyone.

For me crypto currencies are just another currency like US Dollar or the Euro and I would never share publicly how much Euros I carry with me when I am going out, or how much money I have in my bank account. These are private information that I might share with my closest friends and my family, but never publicly. Bitcoin shouldn't be treated any other way. What good does it do if we are open with how much money we have invested in cryptos? To me it doesn't seem that there is any benefit from it and only will make feel people bad or even risk our own health. The kidnapping story is a very rare occurrences and I wouldn't worry so much about it in my country. Here it's more about being polite to strangers, because we don't know in which financial situation they are and it would be wrong to tell them how much money we have. I can happily talk about crypto currencies without mentioning how much I have myself.

Yes cryptocurrency is an asset like dollar, euro or fiat money. And it carries financial status. so of course it should not be publicly shared how financially strong you are and how many cryptos you hold. Most of the people are jealous of their financial condition. So if someone knows that you have Hughes amount of money then you can be a target  And anyone can do you any harm for it. So everyone should keep their financial status hidden at all times.  It is very safe and can lead a comfortable life

I agree with both of you, bitcoin is just money, nothing more, nothing less. So, this story will be more perfect if we say that we should not brag or share with anyone about our investment portfolio or assets. Flaunting our wealth to others puts us at risk even if we hold gold or fiat currency, not just bitcoin. So, even if someone does not invest and hold bitcoin, don't be foolish to share with others that we have a lot of money. But it's hard to understand why some people like to brag, what will they get in return other than danger to themselves?

If you have an income that is in the top 5% of earners in your country, what are you going to do, move to a poor neighbourhood, live in a shitty flat and drive a shitty car to hide?

No, that's not how you do it. In fact, that will make things even more dangerous for you since slums have lots of criminals who rob pretty much everyone including normal people.

What you have to do, after becoming rich, is to keep your old, normal and low-profile life. Then people are going to think you are just the same as everyone else.

Those who love to brag are unknowingly causing their own harm.  Because if you share your investment or weight with others, there are many chances of its loss and its loss will never be through distant people.  He will be harmed by those close to him.  So it is never wise to share your investment with anyone. there are many cases where many have suffered a lot due to such mistakes. It is a personal matter of everyone how they present their financial status but I personally would never share my investments with anyone.

Money loves silence, this applies not only to Bitcoin but also to any funds that belong to you. I don't understand why people share information about how much they earn, or how much money they have, or any other valuables. Perhaps they do this to show their status in society, but it can also play a nasty trick on them if this information gets to the wrong people. These are unnecessary risks that are created for themselves by those who cannot resist boasting.

Some people just don't know how dangerous this is and want to show off. There are a lot of stupid people around, we can just do better and try to teach them.

As we know Bitcoin is digital crypto currency, investing in Bitcoin must be kept secret. In addition, there are countries where Bitcoin laws are not valid, so more caution should be taken for those countries.
In the country that bitcoin is prohibited, then you have to be very careful. It's best to avoid discussing bitcoin with strangers unless you know them well, as there are covert government agents out there. You might be arrested and jailed if they find out that you have invested in bitcoin. If you live in a country where it is illegal to own bitcoin, you must keep your head down and keep your possessions hidden from others.

In a case like this, I would recommend having some sort of decoy wallet, and hope that the attacker/kidnapper (or relative in this case) finds that amount enough... You could even tell them that it's all a lie, and all you have is the amount in the decoy wallet... and that you only wanted to brag a bit about it  Tongue
Don't you think your life will be at risk? Or do you think that after showing them a decoy wallet, the kidnappers will just free you and ask you to go? They are still going to demand a ransom, and if you cannot pay in bitcoin, they will ask you to pay with fiat currency. If you cannot pay, your life will be at risk. The best thing is to never tell anyone the amount of bitcoin that you are holding.

Some people just don't know how dangerous this is and want to show off. There are a lot of stupid people around, we can just do better and try to teach them.
It's not that some people are showing off, some people do end up telling people about their investment just because they are trying to convince people to invest in bitcoin. If you are trying to introduce anyone to bitcoin, then you know you have to use your wallet as an example. Just tell them the basic things about bitcoin and the importance of bitcoin, and tell them you are also holding some bitcoin. But some people will show their wallet to encourage or to make people believe them, which is very wrong.

When introducing anyone to bitcoin investment, you don't have to force anyone to invest in bitcoin, just tell them what you think they should know, and that's all. It's left to everyone to choose whether to invest or not. Don't put your winning investment or your life at risk just because you are trying to convince someone to invest in bitcoin.

I don't understand why people share information about how much they earn, or how much money they have, or any other valuables. Perhaps they do this to show their status in society, but it can also play a nasty trick on them if this information gets to the wrong people. These are unnecessary risks that are created for themselves by those who cannot resist boasting.

Boasting is truly a disease that many people suffer from. I also really don't understand what benefit is there in telling people that we have a lot of money. Meanwhile, if we look more closely, it is clear that bragging brings us more trouble. Besides putting us in danger if someone intends to kidnap us for ransom, bragging will also make others hate us more instead of respecting us. Bitcoin or any other valuable asset, we should hide as much as possible because it will help us sleep better.

I have learned something, that our love life, projects and whatever we have in money should not be shared with anyone, because what most people can feel is envy when they know that anyone is doing well, it is better to publish stupid things on social networks so that people believe that we are stupid, but envy and bad energies have a lot of influence, when it comes to money, the best thing is not to give information to anyone, and keep that secret in addition to envy and all that bad , what is created is an imminent danger for the person if they realize who is actually the owner of that wallet and it is a danger for their own life.

A good life can be lived without showing off. Many people try to show off, which causes envy in those around them. There may be constant talk about how you earn your income or your job. People over a certain age can act more mature in this regard, but the new generation tries to live everything as ostentation.

You don't need everyone to know about your Bitcoins or other assets, or for people to call you rich. If you are happy and doing what you want, you shouldn't care what others say about you and you shouldn't make any appearances to make them talk about you.

As you said, this can sometimes lead to dangerous consequences.

Unfortunately, bitcoin can be forcibly taken away from the owner. This is harder to do than to take the cache, however, you need to adhere to the rules of caution. Therefore, I have never been able to understand people who wear T-shirts with images of bitcoin or altcoins, or the names of wallets, for example TrustWallet. Or they glue stickers on cars with the image of bitcoin. In my opinion, this is the same as saying, "Hey society, I have money that can be taken away."

Nowadays people are very aware. When the price of Bitcoin rise up, people all over the world get to know about it. As a result, a criminal  is also eager to take that opportunity. Because he knows that Bitcoin is now more valuable than gold or any other asset. If they can lure a bitcoin holder into their trap, they can easily reach their goal. So don't share any information related to this bitcoin and investment which may bring harm to you. If you want to keep yourself safe, try to keep all your Bitcoin related information safe.

That's what scammers do, as they are always aware of the opportunity that the market pose and they in want to use it against the fragile minded in terms of using the opportunity to defraud others by changing the whole logic around the wonderful opportunity. Bitcoin scams tend to be at its highest during the bull market as this period every body tend to flock to the market to get their hands on some coins and this is when scammers get their victims because they will propose this naive investors offers that they can't just resist interns of profits and greedy nature.

I think not only Bitcoin or money and other your personal thing should be shared with friends or relatives. It can be a bad impact on your life if it's leaked in publicly. And people around will want to harm or embezzle money which can turn into a big threat to your life. So, keep secret about specially your online or offline assets.

That's a major flaw! Does anyone goes to the street announcing how much money they have in the bank? Same should happen with Bitcoin. You shouldn't be waving a sign with your possesions of Bitcoin out in the street, I guess.

It is better to keep the exact personal information secret as it will reduce the risk. The use of modern technology has speeded up people's lives and at the same time increased privacy and security risks. Many people put their personal information in danger if they know it in which case it is better not to share it with anyone except their family. It is not a wise thing to disclose all your information to others there is a high risk of being in danger. Therefore the things that are exposed to people should be kept away from them.

Exactly, haven't we questioned why Bitcoin is giving you anonymity? It isn't to provide users their security and safety by not revealing their identity. If you really want to share your experience in Bitcoin with your family or relatives, I think it would be better to not tell how much funds you have or choose wisely the people that you can literally trust like your parents, cause we know that even blood-related people can still do such things. We should always be careful, cause we don't know what people can do just to attain someone's money or Bitcoin, this not only applies to funds but also to any valuable things.

That's not a productive way to be a communicative person, what you need to do is to be smart about who you are planning to share this kind of information, I mean how can you exactly share information about bitcoin to other people if you aren't sharing some stuff about your bitcoin journey, it's not inspiring or even engaging to have someone share you some information but they're so secretive about their own or even dismissive when you ask them right? The take here is that the paranoid approach isn't the best option because it's bad for both parties, the best thing to do is to be able to know who you will share the information and have the instinct to know if someone is having malicious intentions against you, maybe not sharing the actual amount but I think that part should always be private.

Rich men and tycon business men that flaunt their wealth are often escorted by police and dedicated law enforcement agencies and security guards talk more of a person that hold one of the most precious gift in the world. Why will you flaunt and show off about your wealth, that's a dangerous thing to do to be honest. I don't mean to be rude but not even a family member should know about your bitcoin except for rare occasion if you are in sick bed and may not be able to survive.

The world is a crazy place in that when you have money, don't tell people that you have and when you have that it's obvious, tell them that you have 1/3 of that so that you don't have the attention all centered on you, the people you think might like you today will be the first people that will set you up for bad things. Don't be surprised that it's even a friend that leak such information of the guy having bitcoin to kidnappers.

The person or victim in the story above did not learn from the strategy used by Satoshi, that's how great Satoshi was in being able to predict something that had not yet happened or he was able to think 10 steps ahead before taking action. I think one of the reasons Satoshi hid his true identity (still anonymous) was because he predicted something like this would happen. He will be the target of crimes from people who want to take over the Bitcoins in his wallet.

There is no need to show off wealth in any form to other people, including relatives and family, crimes occur not because there is intention on the part of the perpetrator, but because there is an opportunity. Never give other people a chance, let only you know the wealth you have. Satoshi has done this more than 10 years ago, he has never given a chance to anyone who has evil intentions towards him because he has managed to hide his identity until now.
