All forums have different way of operation. This forum also puts considerable efforts to keep accounts of members secure. Like, there is a separate bug bounty program by the forum owner where security researchers can report security bugs. Very few online forums have such a bug bounty program with respectable payouts.

When registering on bitcointalk, the forum does not send notifications to email. But I think this is good, that way no one knows which email we use to register on bitcointalk. The easiest way to protect your account is to create a strong password. If you haven't already, you can change your password

Your best course is to stake an address in here. Something like your address followed by a signed message; "BTC_pokaop here, staking my address in a shiny morning of November 6th, 2023".

You cannot recover a hacked account without a signed message: Recovering hacked/lost accounts. You can use strong, encrypted password and the like, but in the end, just as with Bitcoin, the private key provides evidence of ownership. Definitely backup a seed phrase which can be used to derive your staked address, and never use that wallet for any other purpose.

This forum gives you a freedom. You must enter the correct email address when you create an account. And email address is not a strong security for this forum. The Bitcoin address you use on this forum is the biggest security for your account. And if your account is hacked, you can easily recover the account anytime by signing the Bitcoin address message. And this is a strong enough security for this forum

No one is complaining except you, all you have to do is to create a very strong password and kept it to yourself, be sure that your PC has a good anti virus, you should not rely on email verification only for securing your accounts.

What makes Bitcointalk is you can stake your Bitcoin address here so in case you lose your account, you can easily recover it, and if your account is compromised the community will see to it that the one who stole your account cannot use your account, while you are in the process of recovering your account.
I also did not get an account verification when I first sign up, and already active here for years and I did not made a complaint, you have to educated yourself on how to protect your account and do not rely it on any platforms.

It’s a norm that, added layer of security by meals of having your mails verified during registration isn’t put in place by the forum but, it’s that’s hardly a security measure don’t you think?
It’s just by some means to ensure your mail address is correct and you’ve got access to it. It doesn’t have much to do with security of the account.

Means of adding layers of security to your account are as stated in quote;

1. Use a good unique strong password.
2. Use 2FA in email address that you used to register.
3. Stake your BTC address.

1 and 2, insured you on the forum but not off forum with regards to mail compromise. In a case where your mail address is compromised, being prompt to act on notification keeps you safe.

But, the forum has a more better trick in the staking and signing of address.
These are unique means by tying an account to a wallet address which is 100% secure depending on how private and secretive you are with your private key.
It ensures even should your account be hacked successfully, it could be recovered from the hacker following due procedures.

It’s not simple like that if you knew what’s the real deal of OP. He is claiming that forum is not secure in general because of that lack of email notifications whenever he login not only when he register that’s why many user suggest different approach on how to secure Bitcointalk account without relying on an email notification.

I really found it absurd to rely on a mere notification just to secure an account since a strong password and not logging in on unsecured device is a hood start to have confidence on securing account.

Are you saying that account with less activity and merits should worry less about securing their account? This opinion is not appropriate to me because you can not create account today and become a legendary. You must definitely have to start from some where. Although, if op has taken time to read about the security feature on the forum, he would have gotten information and know what to do. Op, Bitcointalk  has security measures in place like SSL encryption but if you're using the same password on multiple sites, or if you're not being careful about clicking links in emails, then you're putting yourself at risk. Even if bitcointalk.org is secure, your own actions can make you vulnerable. The security of your account is your absolute responsibility and you should take it seriously.

If you think security should have been given, can you at least define the word "security" in the context you see it because it has a very wide terminology.

It is a bit unusual nowadays not to receive email notification after registering but not a reason to get worked up about it. The fact that there is an error message after submitting the registration form is weirder.
Anyway, whether or not you can protect your Bitcointalk account is a good test to see if you can protect your bitcoin and its keys. If you fail at keeping your account safe, you are doing one or many things wrong that may eventually lead to you losing your bitcoin as well.

Like others suggest, secure your bitcointalk account by staking it; that's the only security measure I've found necessary here on the forum. Recovering your account takes time, and some may never recover their accounts. It's better to prevent your account from being hacked.

Not necessarily by changing your password every time, as that might lead to forgetting your password too. Instead, avoid downloading unknown applications that could potentially steal your passwords. Also, be cautious when checking the URL of the site you are visiting. For this forum, it should be 'https://bitcointalk.org'.....no more, no less, as there are fake sites out there.
