My s19 90th model is not working properly please help!!!

Here it goes…i bought s19 90th machine via amazon and had it shipped here…for my first try it was working quite fine but when i wanted to use it the day after….it started to initialize and when it got to pulling in about 2.54 AMPs from the pdu (@220v)…a little electric boom happened at the pdu and there was a spark too (@the pdu (mind u only one miner is plugged at that pdu) and one of the power cables stopped working (i measured with a multimeter and one power cable shows 220v and the other 0volt ) all the outlets of the pdu works fine i tried a s9 1800 watt psu on the pdu and it works completely fine)….and now i am scared to turn the miner on could this be a control board issue( i have a spare control board but not a PSU) so should i change the control board and turn it on or should i wait until i get a new PSU WHAT DO U GUYS THINK PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!

a. you brought pre-used on amazon. first mistake
b. contact the seller

its only a day old. get a refund, not fit for purpose

usually not best to be unscrewing the chassis of something you just bought, just return it
if returning it is not an option.. well

sometimes due to shipping a sender would put packing foam inside a device to reduce moving/shaking in transport. (foolish but they do it)
so open it up and see if u can see or smell anything that burned out

be warned opening it up voids most returns policy so only mess around if returning is not an option

A no i didnt buy it pre used its a new machine and came with all the original packaging from bitmain
And i will contact the seller for now my question is should i swap out the control board and test it? Could it be a control board issue ? And anyone that has encountered it before? Thank you so much for the help

You said it was fine on the first try and then the only thing that gives you a problem is the PDU that suddenly pops with sparks.

I guess that the PDU you were using can't able to handle s19 because this unit can draw around 15 amps if the PDU feeds only 15 amps or below then it will melt all electrical circuits on the PDU you should have a PDU that can feed 20A or more than that to handle s19 unit.

How about plug the unit directly to the wall outlet?

My pdu is a 30AMPs rated pdu it can handle upto 30 amps with no problem. I will try directly plugging it in a wall outlet thanks for the help..but i did notice stg i opened up the miner pulled out the control board and tried to run it with another PSU and the control board says “antminer BHB42XXX” instead of antminer s19 on the top right corner of the status page. Does any one know what this is thank you for the help🙏

It's weird if the miner type is different, according to Bitmain if it shows a miner type like yours the unit still using factory firmware according to them you need to upgrade or flash the unit with the correct and most recent firmware from Bitmain to fix it.

So I think you need to try to flash the control board first you can follow the guide from the link below on how to fix it.

99.999% sure it's not new. That model has not been active from Bitmain for a while now.
Yes it could have been new old stock, but things like miners tend to drop in value so much that they just don't sit around for a year.

Could be new, but I would put it as more likely used / refurbished.

It smells more like PSU issue to me... When you said "tried with another PSU", you must be specific what PSU model it came with and what PSU model you are trying it with. You can't simply swap PSUs from the "S19" series around as there are incompatible combinations.

I wonder if a some mine just sold off a bunch of these older units and there are some Amazon sellers that are cleaning then up and selling them as new when they had actually been run hot & hard for over 2 years.

Could be a coincidence but 2 in 2 weeks, seems odd.

I can't speak for those sellers, however,  one thing I can tell you is that brand-new S19s still exist, I have them in stock and I sold a few not too long ago to a forum member, of course, your theory is perfectly valid, some sellers would sell a used miner as new, it's not so hard to fake that.

With that said, it's also pretty normal for Bitmain brand-new miners to arrive in DOA, not hating on Bitmain but given my own experience as a miner and a seller, when I compare Antminers to Whatsminer I can easily tell that Bitmain gears are "shit" at best, the failure rate even for brand miners is high.

A note for everyone, brand miners have 1-year warranty from the day they leave the manufacturer or an authorized seller warehouse, some sellers will fail to sell the miners and keep them in stock long enough for the warranty period to finish, so you MUST always ask about the warranty of the miner you are buying, if it's over, you should at least get it for a decent discount, many sellers count on the buyer's ignorance, they know gears that are out of warranty are worth less but they will still sell them for the original price.

What PSU did you try with?

1. APW121215a / b / c versions are universal with each other (no voltage feedback).

2. APW121215d / e / f versions are universal with each other (with voltage feedback).

3. APW121215d / e / f version can replace part of a / b / c by upgrading firmware, but a / b / c version cannot be used with d / e / f replacement.

I believe your miner model would only work fine with APW121215 version A , APW121215 version B or APW121215 version C.

I know the 130TH / 140TH are still around as new, but I have not seen any of the 90/95/110 for a while.

With when they went out of production I just can't see the slower ones as new.

We got the 82th, 86th and 90th, all with more than 300 days warranty left which means they have just left Bitmain's warehouse, , the 140TH is the XP version of the S19 and is a different model, it is pretty normal for Bitmain to still manufacture old gears that they can still sell, also just because they are labeled new and still under warranty -- it does not mean they were recently manufactured, they could been sitting on the shelf waiting for a new buyer.

Interesting, when the S21 hit all the availability for the S19 dropped a lot and then they just stopped coming totally for the people I was dealing with.
Wonder if they are still making them or they were just old stock.

Having this and the one from the other post I linked die the way they did just feels off.

Since they were Amazon purchases, they should just ship them back and get another one.

Bah, Bitmain models are nonsense. Any decent company would have used at least 3 separate models, one for each chip generation. And that's even before the variants...

The original S19 Pro 110T has nothing to do with the S19k Pro 120T, and both of those with the S19j Pro and later "S19" or even "S19 Pro" which is ludicrous.
You missed APW12A vs APW121215g

Old miners work with all PSUs, new miners only work with new PSUs. That's APW12/APW12A/APW121215abc vs APW121215defg. And miners with APW121417 can only use those. I'm not bothering with talking about Hydros.

I hope they have a good reason that justifies all this nonsense.
