Whatever you do, if you joke with the basics of it, you will struggle getting things right in the long run. So I think it's necessary we look at some fundamental steps never to avoid as  we navigate and thrive through this forum.
1. the first, is to take your security very seriously . Of course you need to understand that securing your account should be one of your most important priority. Here are some links to guide you on how best to secure your account.
Securing your account.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5415461.msg61035839#msg61035839

2. Secondly, you need to know the different board and stick with the ones that suit you the most.
Apart from this board (beginners and help), there are other boards that are specially created for specific kind of discussions ranging from the general discussion, economy, politics and society and also some others. The local board is where bitcoin discussions relating to your country is posted. Ensure you join your local board as it's mostly the most comfortable board that will help you blend into the forum easily. Also note that as a beginner with little or no experience in the forum, stick to boards that you can relate easily with what's happening there while you gradually check other boards and with time you can contribute in those boards.
3. Always abide by the rules and regulations in the forum . As simple as this sounds, this is one of the most important guide in the forum, always read the rules that guides you on how to create quality threads and replies that won't be Tagged as shit/spam post. remember that replies like, thank you, you are correct, you just spoke my mind and comments of these sort are regarded as spam so you try to avoid them as much as possible. You can decide that every contribution you will make in the forum won't be less than 4 lines. One of the most famous guide on how to do this is repeatedly posted in this board, you can still go through it. Newbie read before posting
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5279088.msg55287488#msg55287488 Make it a necessity to always reference the source of your information by sharing the link to the original post you're referencing and make sure you are not creating an already existing thread instead, contribute on the thread that is already in the forum
4. Grow your account as organic as possible
Ihis is also very important because if from this moment that you're just joining the forum you start making quality threads and replies, you are building a reputation that will speak for you later and of course when the need arises, you will receive some merit as a form of encouragement for you to do better.

Try as much as you can never to copy writeup from blogs or worse of,  use chat gpt for your writups as a plagiarism test will be done on your thread and it might course you your account being banned if care is not taken
5. Avoid spamming peoples inbox for your own good and don't think you can beg for merit via someone's inbox and get one
work hard on making your account stand out and with time you will do just fine.

6. Finally, make the search engine your closest friend as it will help you get answers to most of the question you might want to ask always search for stuff using the search engine before creating post of same kind.

Remember that this is not your regular social media so be as professional as possible.

Point of correction, mate. local boards are not meant for bitcoin discussion in your country, local board are been created to ease the newcomers joining the forum learning. they will easily learn using there local language than English, and that is why they created those local boards. However it’s comfortable because they speak there local language and learn easily especially when they don’t know anything about bitcoin you can see that if it’s translated to there language they will learn easily.

Also note that as a beginner with little or no experience in the forum, stick to boards that you can relate easily with what's happening there while you gradually check other boards and with time you can contribute in those boards.

The best board for a beginner I think is this board, as all the  helpful content that will suit there knowledge are been posted here. Therefore  every beginner need to familiarize themselves  with this  board because this board is full with everything they want to know before they proceed in the forum such as the forum rules and other things that they will learn.

Quote
Try as much as you can never to copy writeup from blogs or worse of,  use chat gpt for your writups as a plagiarism test will be done on your thread and it might course you your account being banned if care is not taken

Also very important, mate. some newcomers are failed to read the forum guidelines, and that is why accounts are getting banned day by day, while  some getting tagged, all this are happening due to lack of reading the forum rules and regulations. which is compulsory for everyone to know before doing anything here.

I would like to add another point that is no less important, which is to avoid believing that the forum is a space for making easy money, whether by begging for money or by giving the illusion that you are a trustworthy person. Many people come here and register accounts solely for this purpose, while the primary function of the forum is to provide a free space for discussions and exchange of information and experiences. No one should be convinced that the only way to make money is by investing in skills of all kinds.
In order to be correct, it must be admitted that using the forum has never been an easy matter for newcomers. For this reason, many of them fall easy prey to mistakes that quickly lead to their accounts being banned or red tagged.

If I should give an advise it won’t be for them to learn how to secure their “forum account” but instead for them to learn security as a whole; because what use is them security their Bitcointalk account when their wallet is prone to hackers?

Reading this part of your post got me curious, like how often do you guys receives pm from others on exchanging merits? Because this is the second thread that I have read something like this and in the first thread I thought it was just some random thought but you repeating it here made it look like there are users that do send pm hoping that the recipient would be willing to exchange some merits with them.

The information provided by OP is quite alright and educative coupled with the fact that OP made some explanations on them to guide newbies and some members who have little or no idea about the platform but this topic would be of benefit to all.

When it comes to security of one's account, I think this is a major area that needs to be looked into because many have lost their accounts to hackers and scammers who committ crimes with their details leaving the account owners in problem. It will be nice account holders take the issue of account security very seriously to avoid being hacked.

It is not normal that a newbie account would just all of a sudden start spamming ones inbox with unsolicited messages. It is uncalled for and against the forum policies and at such should be reported. Doing that alone already show's their I'll intentions and one must be careful dealing with such account so as not to fall prey of their sinister motive.

Local board or local thread is also meant for that, there are crypto(not just bitcoin) related events happening in a lot of countries which you can have a discussion on their respective local boards or local threads. In other words, local boards/local threads are multipurpose and it is a great place to discuss crypto-related events/happenings and a good place to learn cryptocurrency, not just for newbies.

Remember that this is not your regular social media so be as professional as possible.

I don't know if we need to be professional or not, but I do know that this is a discussion forum and all we need to do is discuss. In one topic we may be good because we have good knowledge in that topic but sometimes our comments may not be good because we don't know the topic. I think that's a natural thing. I agree with you that we should not plagiarize as it is a forum ban and also a copyright violation

I just try to be myself and discuss as far as I can. As long as we don't break the forum rules then it's fine and there's no need to be professional because this is not part of the job.

Learning about the fundamentals of whatever ventures we are taking is really a must.  For example, if we are into Bitcoin, we must learn the basics of Bitcoin, like security, how it works, how to do transactions and many more.  If we are into Bitcoin investment, we must learn the basics of determining scam investment, bitcoin fraud offers and the security on how to store our Bitcoin holdings.

We should also know the fundamentals of our investments since it can determine whether our investment venture will be profitable in the long run.

With regards to the forum, it is a basic knowledge that plagiarism is a serious offense so never forget to include the reference if we happen to get the information on the internet.  There are lots of members here who are dedicated to finding plagiarized content so better state the reference and don't claim other works as ours.

You can't intentionally write organic posts. Either you are a Bitcoin enthusiasts and all your posts are effortlessly organic, or you are forcing yourself to do something that you don't like and you should reconsider posting on this forum altogether. Signature campaigns were not meant to be job opportunities, they were supposed to be an optional bonus for active forum users.

Newbies. Stop teaching when you need to learn

Quote
4. Grow your account as organic as possible
As newbies, learning is first target whilst growing up an account is not priority. Seriously, focus on learning. Reading to learn. Reading before posting. Don't post if reading is enough in the context.

Newbies can make dumb questions naturally and nobody complain about that. A newbie reputation won't be harmed by dumb questions.

2. Secondly, you need to know the different board and stick with the ones that suit you the most.

Getting to stick with boards is a good one but as a noob we need to keep active in almost all groups  not in posting though. As time goes on , he/she should gain more experience and knowledge as to how things work and be able to choose the ones that suit him/her the most across the boards.

Getting merits isn't quite easy but it can be made easy .

I will add this
___ Do not look at others whom you started with  Getting merits than you focus on that good posts, a single good post can fetch you hundreds  of merits which could easily  boost you from your current rank much more faster than you used to do.

The mentioned points are certainly important but for those who are new, what I suggest first is to develop the habit of reading well instead of posting. If you want to do something good, you need to know first. In global boards and local boards there are always various discussions about Bitcoin and all other types of cryptocurrencies where anyone can get a lot of support as a newbie. A trend among newbies is that they rush too much after joining the forum which should not be at all. Expecting to get something quickly will have a higher chance of reverses. Another important thing is to be regular in the forum. If one stays on the forum regularly then he will surely be able to acquire a lot of knowledge which will play an important role in his crypto life.

Nice advise OP, but why are we so much concentrated on the newbies alone here, i think this your kind of contributions apllies to everyone, no one is above falling for this kind of mistake, i won't be a surprise that you can be seing old members of the forum making some silly mistakes and a newbie giving corrections, we all just need to be reminded of ourselves on what to do, act accordingly as expected to the forum standard.

If I should give an advise it won’t be for them to learn how to secure their “forum account” but instead for them to learn security as a whole; because what use is them security their Bitcointalk account when their wallet is prone to hackers?

work hard on making your account stand out and with time you will do just fine.

I have a similar opinion. Over the course of a few days, we see guidance from senior ranks on how newcomers should behave on the forum. Although all three topics carry the same advice. We criticize newcomers for the same topics, but what can we say when senior members do the same thing. Why didn't all the advice come together in one topic?
Strange, is this the influence of magnetic storms? Cheesy

Whatever you do, if you joke with the basics of it, you will struggle getting things right in the long run. So I think it's necessary we look at some fundamental steps never to avoid as  we navigate and thrive through this forum.

Rather than learning how to secure their bitcointalk account which the loss won’t be that much as a beginner, they should rather learn how to secure their bitcoin wallets and never allow them to be vulnerable to attackers who are in the watch out for unsecured newbies in the bitcoin world. Privacy and security are the two basic things you should learn to observe as a newbie, if you do that, you’re one step ahead of your journey in the bitcoin world and your funds will be safer.

6. Finally, make the search engine your closest friend as it will help you get answers to most of the question you might want to ask always search for stuff using the search engine before creating post of same kind.

This will help reduce spam in the forum as too many repeated posts have happened in the forum and mostly by newbies who don’t search to check if those topics have been created before or not before proceeding.

Remember that this is not your regular social media so be as professional as possible.

Being professional depends on how you see the forum as and what you came to achieve here, so this should be like an opinion and not an advise of any kind to the newbie.

What Op explained above is not only for beginners, but also for everyone. Indeed, beginners must prioritize tips like those above because they have just joined and don't know many of the rules. However, unfortunately I also see that many old members often make mistakes which have been discussed many times in every thread, but quite a few of them also violate standard forum rules, this is a bit sad indeed.

Sometimes trivial things have to be repeated over and over again, which makes us keep guarding them so we don't make mistakes so that our account doesn't last long. Maybe this is what OP meant to remain as professional as possible.

Sir, you are right that this is a discussion forum and everyone has their own opinion on aspects of their knowledge. Sometimes they give up and show a good amount of their best knowledge on a topic, but sometimes they have a lack of comments due to limitations in their knowledge on those topics.

But let me tell you one thing: you may not have understood the meaning of professional in the right way. I think the OP's statement above meant to advise the newbie, as a point, to pay attention to this forum. It is not like social media, where you can do whatever your heart desires, but here you have to follow the rules and take action by making these rules the subject; otherwise, you may face a hurdle in staying here.

And if you said that this is a discussion forum, then you are right; everyone has the right to discuss here, but the meaning here is that it was what I explained. It is not what you took out that professional means that you do not have the right to participate in the matter in which your knowledge is less.

I hope you understand. I'm sorry if something offended you, but I meant to explain, not criticize.

I just try to be myself and discuss as far as I can. As long as we don't break the forum rules then it's fine and there's no need to be professional because this is not part of the job.
I agree with you. I believe that professionalism should mostly be done by adhering to the rules and regulations of the forum. This is because it's a forum designed for discussions and opinions. Replies can come in various manners, some might hurt your emotions, while others will definitely brighten your moments. If the platform is strcitly on professionalism the people will not be able to express themselve as there will be too much show case of superiorism.

Personally I think been professional here doesn't mean you have to know everything or be an expert in cryptocurrency although been an expert will be an advantage anyways, but I think it's basically keeping Evey information you share here as authentic and true as possible in an ethical and organized way as possible so you don't be a peddler of false informations on the forum.

You could make reference to informations already shared here while adding your point of view to it and it will be better than sharing false information to increase your number of post and activities, put while sharing your point of view make it as organized, and informative or educative as possible, sounding vague may not be really good and may not get you merited.
