Not only for the newcomers but also for those that have literally lost their funds. They will be desperate and will definitely try to contact them as if they are for real helpers.

Everyone has to understand that if they've lost their bitcoins then it's lost forever and no hacker is generous to return that to them.

But for some instance like those huge hacks that has happened and exploits, some hackers were able to return the funds but that's a different case as the majority of them will not have a second thought to just take away all of your funds.

I saw something on Quora that worried me. Someone said that he lost 1200 BTC to scammers. Then, I saw some people sharing/claiming to be experts in recovering lost bitcoin. They shared their contact details like Telegram IDs and WhatsApp numbers.

I have a suspicion that the person who lost the BTC might be the same one giving out those contact details or advices. They could be trying to trick others in the future who search for help online. Google might suggest similar questions on Quora, and people could end up sharing their private keys with scammers.

So, if you are new to all this, be careful. Don't trust random people claiming to be experts on Quora or anywhere else. They might just be trying to get your private information.

Scammers are always trying every way to get people scammed, and this is really why they always come up with different tactics. This tactic is not new to the crypto industry, but still, a person can fall victim if they do not know more about how these scammers are playing around on these sites. Let's just imagine how these scammers may be trying to play with people, claiming they lost 1200 btc, and trying to claim they know someone who is an expert in recovering stolen or lost bitcoin. We have to really be careful don't believe anything on the internet easily unless you do ur own through research especially when it comes to money stuff. Op, thank you, I believe this will saver a reminder.

I don't think that this is a new tactic, we have seen it already even here in the community and many of us have been warned. We even have our own board about it. The thing is that there are a lot of newbies or even those who have already experience in the market who still fall for kind of trap. I know we can't blame them, but you have to think, can someone really help you here as we are all psuedo-anonymous.

As for Quora though, I have stay away from this sites many years ago, I would rather research my own and not ask anyone, maybe with other subjects. But Bitcoin or all about crypto specially on the recovery of wallet and what not? Nah.

Unfortunately, when you are in the state of losing your bitcoin, you have nothing in your mind but to retrieve all what you have lost even if it means trusting those random people that you met online. That's the start of falling yourself in their trap. They will pretend by offering help and the moment you share to them your private keys, boom they're gone out of nowhere. When it happens, that's a sign that scamming is real.

Keep reminded that whatever should be dealt in private, should never ask solutions in public. There's no way who can help you but only yourself. You may start asking advices from the people in the forum as they are more reliable  but never disclose your seed phrases because its your own property, others should never know about it.

Desperation at its finest. Consulting any random people around to get help.

These people who lost big amounts of BTCs through scams can't think properly because of what happened to them. Their common sense is totally shut down as they are more focused now on anyone or anything that can help them recover their lost crypto.

The fact that they lost that insane amount prior to the scam, means they are really eager to get rich in a quick scheme. I just can't wonder how these people owning lots of BTCs can easily fall to be a prey. They are supposed to be knowledgeable about any scam attempt.

Common scam measure done by people who wish to scam people out of what was left of their money. They basically bank on the desperation and utter despair that these scammed people feel in order to make money out of them. Saw a lot of these shit from bitcoin revoveries to even spells and curses that would bring your estranged lover/spouse back to you (LOL). Of course, you would best believe these shit to not be true especially since most of them have nothing to prove for themselves other than their grammatically incorrect messages and scammy formats.

More likely the starter of that thread offers the service of recovering lost Bitcoin and probably the thread is design to get the attention of people who lost their BTC on some scam or hack then the thread starter with his other account will give offers which possibly interesting to the vicitms and that way they can scam money from people who subscribe for their services.

It is a known fact that cryptocurrency specifically Bitcoin transaction is non-reversible.  Most scam incident are unable to recover the funds lost even if the scammer is caught. So if there are people offering that they can recover lost funds due to hack or scam, they are more likely scammers themselves unless they are the authority delegated for this cases.

It's funny or dissappointing seeing alot of people who still sees the Internet as a secure place for getting financial assistance especially relating to cryptocurrency comprising their privacy most times just to find support like this Demystifying living a private life and your bitcoin.
I won't be surprised if they ask him for his private key but more likely the victim is a lier, if you go through the link provided by OP, I believe no body would have such amount of bitcoin and keep it in a place where scammers can easily get it or if by peradventure they fall victim they won't have fallen from such scam or make such post.

people will learn their lessons once they got screwed by this fraudulent technique. as people are driven by greed, thinking that they will get something out of it, they are willing to be compromised as they share their private details. anyway, most people who will take the bait will regret it later on once they got rekkt by this step.
if they truly have that amount, they will dig and dig from tutorials and other resources how to recover such amount. consulting in cryberspace would just be a mistake as we are full of scammers, fraudsters and the likes.

When surfing on the internet then this main rule would really save up your ass.

"TRUST NO ONE"

No matter what problem you are facing but when it comes to recovery of funds or whatsoever and if you do have that basic idea on how Bitcoin or crypto works then there's no such thing about recovery.
Its true that these things are really that misleading or really that could cause up more losses yet newbies arent really that knowledgeable but if you do just make use of your own common
sense then you would really be able to realize that somethings fishy.

For us who are old and veterans on this market then it would really be the best thing to be done is to make yourself that making such report of those accounts or whatevers possible that we could really be able to do
just to remove out that kind of posting which is really that definitely fake or simply cant be possible. If you get into a situation where you do lost your PK
or phrases then consider out for those coins to be lost forever and there's no way that you could be able to recover it out.

Just make yourself to be that sensible on the things that do works around and never ever make yourself that believe on what those people been claiming online. There would really be
no assurance on doing so and might lose up even more in the process.

Many posts on Quora are simply fake, and I'm not talking about bitcoin only. I didn't even open the link you posted but it's clear that there is behind the same person, I mean let's be serious, who runs a legit business only using an app like Telegram? Unfortunately I am sure that there are many people that somehow will fall for this type of scam.

This isn't a new scam or hacking method, actually. They target frustrated newbies to scam their funds. Very smart scammers will convince newbies and force them to believe them. We shouldn't trust random people on the internet anyway when it's related to fund management. We have seen many people on the forum scam second-timers this way. However, we should learn more about Bitcoin to prevent these types of scams. So we can realise why we shouldn't trust this type of fund recovery service. Usually, scammers post about their fake hacking story or losing story. Then they comment themselves about recovery services. That's how other individuals interact with them.

Not a new scam but certainly something that works, after all they wouldn't reuse the same formula over and over again just as with the Nigerian Prince email if this didn't work to some people. They target unwitting people, (well not necessarily target but send this by bulk and hope that in the pool of people they sent this to one of which is stupid enough to believe their lies) and from there the scam would roll on its own. While I'm preyu confident that a lot of us here aren't that easily fooled by emails and messages, I still believe that some of us may fall for scams like these, especially those that fell victim to other scams and hackings and are desperate to get their money back. I suggest you quit at it so as to not cause further damage to yourself and to the people around you, and just work towards earning back your keep. It's easier said than done I know, but there's not much else that you can do at this point really.

They might just be trying to get your private information.

i'm furious with the story that's in the OP, every day we are always faced with fraudsters on the internet, they will never know anything before they get a fat victim.  always verify new things that we encounter, if there are difficulties, don't trust anyone 100%, especially if they ask for a private key or password.  Fraudsters will always disguise themselves as good people, so you yourself must maintain the security of your personal wallet, don't let your carelessness cause you to lose all the bitcoin you have.

people will learn their lessons once they got screwed by this fraudulent technique. as people are driven by greed, thinking that they will get something out of it, they are willing to be compromised as they share their private details. anyway, most people who will take the bait will regret it later on once they got rekkt by this step.
Yes learning in the hard way is what has been at play when it comes to issues like this, and most especially newbies are the worst hit by this class of scammers since it is a planned game, why should anyone believe that you can get money off the scammer and what happens if the scammer has already converted that money and withdrawn it through his back using p2p, this is a big mess and can't be recovered.

So when I see such threads from newbies seeking to recover their stolen bitcoin, I used to laugh out loud since I already know that that is an unrealistic move and would not end well.

I can't even imagine someone claiming to restore a lost Bitcoin how and from where?
This is just something that is not possible to do because I know too well that any bitcoin stolen or mistakenly sent to wrong address can never be restored all less you have a direct contact with the person who owns the address. But however only newbies can fall for this cheap scam methods.
Even if you are in direct contact with the person who owns that address, it is difficult to prove ownership of it. Scammers usually use fake identities and fake accounts to make it easier for them to easily escape with the money later. Since most countries in the world do not regulate the crypto transactions sector, filing lawsuits will have no significant benefit, especially since it is not easy to prove the facts.
Although I constantly read about successful scam attempts, I am amazed at the victims who lose huge amounts of 12,000 Bitcoins. The value of these assets may exceed the budgets of some countries, and despite that, I can only say that their owners are very reckless and lack the basics of dealing on the Internet.

Unfortunately, when you are frustrated, you click on these answers, try codes, or communicate with scammers, so thank you for this reminder.

This is a factor that people often overlook when it comes to judging others for their mistakes. People often say that those who misstep are stupid or uneducated, but people in severe emotional states could easily lose their critical thinking and caution. That's why scammers often prey on those who are most vulnerable.

To counter this people need to have action plans for emergencies, and make preparations for emergencies before they happen so that if the time comes, they just execute it without having to make decisions. In Bitcoin this means asking yourself "what would I do if I lose my backup?".

Most of the new experiences and newbies are the ones who get scammed in a trick like this. We can't deny that sometimes people have problems losing BTC due to their lack of knowledge like what could be the factor that caused the loss of their Bitcoin, so once they searched online or even asked for help on some platform, this kind of thread would show up. Due to hoping they could resolve their problem, they would literally try to communicate with the scammers, not knowing that some of the people who also commented that he was legit, giving some fake proof are also the same person. You can't blame someone for trying anything in trying to recover their losses, since they are emotional which is actually normal especially if you don't expect things like that, but it would be better to find a reliable source that can support claims that Bitcoin could be retrieved cause there are some fake links and sites existing online, but of course, it would be impossible to retrieve Bitcoin once you loss it.

Never trust strangers on the internet because there are many scammers out there who try to trick you in various ways even if it offers recovery by sharing their contacts and experiences when we know they are making up stories for their lies.

As others have said if you have been deceived in a bitcoin transaction then there is no way of recovery except for the awareness of the wallet owner who received it, but it is rather impossible that he will return it unless you have to be willing to lose btc due to your own mistakes.

Not only that, there are many cases on the internet about fraud, including inviting you to invest in ponzi schemes, offering help on telegrams, or you are introduced to an unfamiliar platform and then get a code to activate and get a number of BTC if you want to withdraw you have to deposit then this is clearly a scam.

Just realize for beginners, never be fooled, you have to be careful with unknown people on Telegram because that's where a lot of scams are roaming.

I don't really understand how people can trust random people on forums to contact them on WhatsApp or Telegram. But sadly it's still happening. I suppose internet security should be taught at schools at least. I don't really know how to teach older people about that.

This make sense and thanks for sharing it, though I'm totally aware how to avoid getting scammed, but the most common place for people who has lost their crypto or even having issues is the internet. So, if people see things like this, it will most certainly looks like it's a genuine transactions but they aren't, it's a way of luring people who encountered the same issues. Scammers are really innovating and getting more creative over time. This is one way for the scammers for the victims to come to them instead of them trying to reach out on their potential victims.
One thing to remember when dealing with strangers over the internet especially when you're desperate on the issues you're facing, is never to share any of your financial information like keys, password, and anything that's confidential.
