The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Unfortunately, when you are frustrated, you click on these answers, try codes, or communicate with scammers, so thank you for this reminder.
There is no one who can recover your money after you get one confirmation. It is true that this is painful, but it is a reminder that the wallet be created in the airgapped system and not connected to the Internet, or at least create a multi-signature wallet after you know how to create it.

I can't even imagine someone claiming to restore a lost Bitcoin how and from where?
This is just something that is not possible to do because I know too well that any bitcoin stolen or mistakenly sent to wrong address can never be restored all less you have a direct contact with the person who owns the address. But however only newbies can fall for this cheap scam methods.

There’s tons of this scammer on telegram that is far worst than that. Telegram scammer impersonate an admin of the project which the user ask for help when he post on project telegram group. An ignorance user will surely become easily scam if they didn’t check the username of the impersonator carefully since they use tricky username just to imitate the legit admin.

Same with facebook and other social that scammer is being creative on how to trick poor newbie to get their seed phrase and private key.

Emphasis on the “do not trust strangers online” when it comes to your personal information or anything that makes you vulnerable to attacks.

There have been similar threads like that here in Bitcointalk but the only difference here is that we have people that are constantly reporting such type of threads to be deleted and also giving neg-tags to those account but on quota you can’t differentiate between legit posts and post made to deceive the readers.

Well, this strategy is not new, it's as old as it seems, and good thing that you directed the warning to newbies, because i personally believe that most Ogs must or should already know about this strategy, as it is everywhere, on every social media, talk about X (formally known as Twitter), Facebook, Reddit, Instagram and so on.

And some time when we check comments on blockchain explorers like etherscan, we will find some people commenting just the same thing as the op described, and just as Hugeblack have said, it is all for nothing but to take away money from unsuspecting victims, it is very important that every coming into crypto know beforehand that money or coins lost is lost, and there is absolutely no one that can help recover such fund, except the person that fund was sent to decides to send it back to where the funds came from.

Hmm, interesting OP you've raised a grave concern because most of the time when we search on Google and try to find out the solution for the problem we are going through we recklessly click on Google's top recommendations without measuring whether the results Google provided are authentic or not.

Google algorithm produces the results based on the SEO optimizations and Keywords and as OP said sai when we search for such queries sometimes these types of Qoura topics are also suggested, so better be careful guys as phishers do adopt such tactics to trap you out and you won't even realize that the help you are seeking from a stranger is actually destruction by the plan.

Okay to recover scammed or stolen coins is really really really hard to do.

You need a decent amount of stolen coin to start.
You then need to trace where it goes.
A good thief will simply move it to an account and let it sit a long long long long time.

If the theft is big enough a good thief may  create a mixing service to be sure the mixer he uses is not run by a government agency to catch thieves.

So for someone to claim they can catch the thief is almost always a con 99%.

This question: https://www.quora.com/I-just-lost-1200-BTC-to-scammers-now-How-can-I-recover-my-BTC-back
scroll to see more answers like these.
Your suspicion might be correct because scammers can have more than one account on Quora or social media platforms. The next response might be a thank you message from the person who claimed he lost Bitcoin. He would give testimony of how one of the experts helped him to recover his coins. These scammers can go as far as showing fabricated evidence to prove their case. Many people might become victims because of desperation to recover their coins which will make them become victims of more scams. They will ask for a service charge and end up doing nothing to recover the coin. Even when they recover it, it will become a problem to get your coin because they are already in control of your wallet.

I have seen members mostly newbies come up with threads about the loss of Bitcoin to scammers and they usually receive counsel from the community. I remember that the main option is to trace the wallet where the money is kept currently. The money can be frozen if it is in an exchange and the owner could prove that he was scammed.

The rate of scams in our society today is quite alarming that it really scares me. I man these people has so many methods and ways of swindling people of their hard earned money. I've read so many articles and stuffs online about how people are misled online towards making investments that are not even authentic and at the end before they even realize that these are fake investments opportunities, they might have already lost a fortune.

I have this friend who complained to me about sending money to Elon Musk online all in the name of investing in Tesla company and not getting the profit he was promised. And I thought to myself, how can people be this naive about obvious scam shits like this, someone sends you a random message online and tells you he's Elon Musk and don't find that suspicious? Howwwww?

Scammers are working hard day and night, looking for new updates and methods to confuse, convince and swindle your money. So in other to be on the safer side, always disregard messages from strangers and random people, NEVER give out your private or personal information to anyone you see online of out there and lastly before you need to carry out a thorough research about any investment opportunity you hear about or have interest in before going to put in your money in there because it might just be another scam posing to be real.
Y'all just stay safe out there and protect yourself.

There are hundreds of method which is been used by scammers and here we cannot blame the scammers if users are so naive and it's a common sense that we should never share private keys or password and OTP with anyone and I wonder how they end up sharing private key when at the time of creating account or wallet that's the first notification which is prompted to us. This is one of the most sophisticated way of luring in victims without actually approaching them directly wherein scammers just do role play to gain trust of victims.

We cannot do much on educating them as it has to be taken up privately since government won't support us in this cause because they are against crypto and will use this as an excuse to push for centralization.

I always emphasize the need to people who enquire about bitcoins that there is a need to be careful with bitcoins after investing because if bitcoins get stolen by scammers or lost to forgotten passwords or even sent to the wrong address, it can never be recovered. Newbies who know this never become victims of these scammers with these methods.

I have a suspicion that the person who lost the BTC might be the same one giving out those contact details or advices. They could be trying to trick others in the future who search for help online. Google might suggest similar questions on Quora, and people could end up sharing their private keys with scammers.
I hope you made a comment under it that RECOVERY IS NOT POSSIBLE! so that people who get to that page get to see your comment too and not fall for this.

BTC tx's are not reversible, that is one point that people should never forget. If your funds are stolen there is no way to get it back, because of the transparency of the network you can see the addresses your funds moved into, but you cannot recover it because you don't own the keys, the scammer would usually also use CoinJoin when moving the funds and obscure the tx, so you can't link the input to the output.

Centralized exchanges and services can lock people's coins if they get a request from LE, but you have to lose a significant amount of money for your local agency to request a centralized exchange to confiscate funds; and all of that is if the scammer is stupid enough to send the stolen funds into a centralized service.

Scammers always find new ways to scam people and get into their wallets, sometimes even knowing that we fell in their traps. Basically, that’s why these methods are still effective for scammers and they still get victims. And unfortunately, in crypto and bitcoin it’s hard to find a sign that warns you from all kind of scams.
Personally, I come across new methods and ways of scamming all the time and I get surprised how these scammers find all these manipulative tricks. The most recent trap, was someone trying to hire me for a job with a very professional way and a well developed website for their fake company.

It’s important to remind crypto users that anyone who tries to access your wallet in any way possible or also tries to make you download anything external to your device, is 100% a scam.

I saw something on Quora that worried me. Someone said that he lost 1200 BTC to scammers. Then, I saw some people sharing/claiming to be experts in recovering lost bitcoin. They shared their contact details like Telegram IDs and WhatsApp numbers.
Thank you for this cautious reminder to some of us here who already know about such scams and to beginners who are just learning about them for the first time.

Let's always remember that one of the risks involved in a Bitcoin transaction is the irreversible feature; a Bitcoin transaction is not reversable. That is why it is always good to double check the wallet you are sending your Bitcoin to before sending it, because once you send it to an unknown address, your Bitcoin is gone, and no one can track or get it back for you.

Quote
I have a suspicion that the person who lost the BTC might be the same one giving out those contact details or advices. They could be trying to trick others in the future who search for help online. Google might suggest similar questions on Quora, and people could end up sharing their private keys with scammers.
It seems so; they will try to get people through that statement they made, and newbies without experience who lost their Bitcoin will rush into their DM, and only God knows the information they will request from him. Newbies, let's be careful and trust no one in crypto-related transactions. Anyone can scam you at anytime when they have the chance, and there is no platform or site that will help you recover. Your bitcoin has vanished.

That's sucks, Bro. These scams are increasing day by day. Scammers abuse someone in one way or another. It is very sad when I hear the same. I always keep saying that when you ask someone about something or a problem, don't give your personal information to that person because ou don't even know about it. There is an authentic or malicious person who is ready to stab you, and the second is that these scammers are sitting in every place where you will not have any illusion that this scam will happen in this place too, but they are for their own purpose. They appear—that is, they come to serve you back.

So the purpose of saying this is to act very smartly and carefully in such matters because these people make you their victim in the same place where you have a weak point of view of your privacy, i.e., you follow this step without faith and research. Do what the scammer has done to deceive.

So be careful, guys. Before changing your stance, think carefully about whether it is going to do me good or a trick.

The thought of recovering a lost Bitcoin is also the beginning of your journey into another possible frustration and more scams in the waiting, i can imagine a victim of scam to the tone of 1200 Bitcoin will ever trust anyone that makes promises of possible recovery of those lost bitcoins, to extent of making a fee service that promises to help recover the lost Bitcoin.
So any attempt to hire a so-called specialist who may claim to have means to realize possible stolen coins that is not possible at any point and the ops need to move on.

Never trust other people to access your own wallet but only yourself. Even if they claim to be professionals, there is no guarantee that those people can be trusted once you share your problem and your private keys. The least they can do is to gain your trust when you are frustrated or depressed, and if you bite their offer, that's the biggest mistake that you should not have done in your life.

By allowing other people to have an access of your private keys, then the risk to lose completely your coins is now very high. There's no way they will help you for free. Scammers will do everything just to succeed on their own mission, and not actually to help us regain what we have lost.

Scammers are always trying every way to get people scammed, and this is really why they always come up with different tactics. This tactic is not new to the crypto industry, but still, a person can fall victim if they do not know more about how these scammers are playing around on these sites. Let's just imagine how these scammers may be trying to play with people, claiming they lost 1200 btc, and trying to claim they know someone who is an expert in recovering stolen or lost bitcoin. We have to really be careful don't believe anything on the internet easily unless you do ur own through research especially when it comes to money stuff. Op, thank you, I believe this will saver a reminder.

To add to your point once some stranger online brings up a business idea which will bring out promise that looks almost unrealistic or too juicy, stay way from it because nobody online loves you so much to randomly want to make you reach. If you look at the most scam victims over 75% of them were gotten through their greediness. The blinds them from making any substantial research about the business.

The information will be their personal details or the private key for that wallet to see maybe they can drain the ones remaining there. If it is about tracking the wallet or say the address I would say it is possible to monitor the transaction but once it gets into mixers then it becomes more difficult. The only thing is scammer makes a mistake and moves it to centralized exchange it is then government agencies can actual request for the details on the exchange account that receives the funds this shows that no individual can just sit around and pull this out.

I hope you made a comment under it that RECOVERY IS NOT POSSIBLE! so that people who get to that page get to see your comment too and not fall for this.

This might be good to leave a comment but it is almost useless because the scammers will use their other accounts there, to go there and announce that they have done same thing and could even be sending fake receipts there.

Not only for the newcomers but also for those that have literally lost their funds. They will be desperate and will definitely try to contact them as if they are for real helpers.

Everyone has to understand that if they've lost their bitcoins then it's lost forever and no hacker is generous to return that to them.

But for some instance like those huge hacks that has happened and exploits, some hackers were able to return the funds but that's a different case as the majority of them will not have a second thought to just take away all of your funds.

We have to really be careful don't believe anything on the internet easily unless you do ur own through research especially when it comes to money stuff. Op, thank you, I believe this will saver a reminder.

I don't think that this is a new tactic, we have seen it already even here in the community and many of us have been warned. We even have our own board about it. The thing is that there are a lot of newbies or even those who have already experience in the market who still fall for kind of trap. I know we can't blame them, but you have to think, can someone really help you here as we are all psuedo-anonymous.

As for Quora though, I have stay away from this sites many years ago, I would rather research my own and not ask anyone, maybe with other subjects. But Bitcoin or all about crypto specially on the recovery of wallet and what not? Nah.

I have a suspicion that the person who lost the BTC might be the same one giving out those contact details or advices. They could be trying to trick others in the future who search for help online. Google might suggest similar questions on Quora, and people could end up sharing their private keys with scammers.

So, if you are new to all this, be careful. Don't trust random people claiming to be experts on Quora or anywhere else. They might just be trying to get your private information.

Unfortunately, when you are in the state of losing your bitcoin, you have nothing in your mind but to retrieve all what you have lost even if it means trusting those random people that you met online. That's the start of falling yourself in their trap. They will pretend by offering help and the moment you share to them your private keys, boom they're gone out of nowhere. When it happens, that's a sign that scamming is real.

Keep reminded that whatever should be dealt in private, should never ask solutions in public. There's no way who can help you but only yourself. You may start asking advices from the people in the forum as they are more reliable  but never disclose your seed phrases because its your own property, others should never know about it.

The fact that they lost that insane amount prior to the scam, means they are really eager to get rich in a quick scheme. I just can't wonder how these people owning lots of BTCs can easily fall to be a prey. They are supposed to be knowledgeable about any scam attempt.

Common scam measure done by people who wish to scam people out of what was left of their money. They basically bank on the desperation and utter despair that these scammed people feel in order to make money out of them. Saw a lot of these shit from bitcoin revoveries to even spells and curses that would bring your estranged lover/spouse back to you (LOL). Of course, you would best believe these shit to not be true especially since most of them have nothing to prove for themselves other than their grammatically incorrect messages and scammy formats.

More likely the starter of that thread offers the service of recovering lost Bitcoin and probably the thread is design to get the attention of people who lost their BTC on some scam or hack then the thread starter with his other account will give offers which possibly interesting to the vicitms and that way they can scam money from people who subscribe for their services.

It is a known fact that cryptocurrency specifically Bitcoin transaction is non-reversible.  Most scam incident are unable to recover the funds lost even if the scammer is caught. So if there are people offering that they can recover lost funds due to hack or scam, they are more likely scammers themselves unless they are the authority delegated for this cases.

It's funny or dissappointing seeing alot of people who still sees the Internet as a secure place for getting financial assistance especially relating to cryptocurrency comprising their privacy most times just to find support like this Demystifying living a private life and your bitcoin.
I won't be surprised if they ask him for his private key but more likely the victim is a lier, if you go through the link provided by OP, I believe no body would have such amount of bitcoin and keep it in a place where scammers can easily get it or if by peradventure they fall victim they won't have fallen from such scam or make such post.

if they truly have that amount, they will dig and dig from tutorials and other resources how to recover such amount. consulting in cryberspace would just be a mistake as we are full of scammers, fraudsters and the likes.

When surfing on the internet then this main rule would really save up your ass.

"TRUST NO ONE"

No matter what problem you are facing but when it comes to recovery of funds or whatsoever and if you do have that basic idea on how Bitcoin or crypto works then there's no such thing about recovery.
Its true that these things are really that misleading or really that could cause up more losses yet newbies arent really that knowledgeable but if you do just make use of your own common
sense then you would really be able to realize that somethings fishy.

For us who are old and veterans on this market then it would really be the best thing to be done is to make yourself that making such report of those accounts or whatevers possible that we could really be able to do
just to remove out that kind of posting which is really that definitely fake or simply cant be possible. If you get into a situation where you do lost your PK
or phrases then consider out for those coins to be lost forever and there's no way that you could be able to recover it out.

Just make yourself to be that sensible on the things that do works around and never ever make yourself that believe on what those people been claiming online. There would really be
no assurance on doing so and might lose up even more in the process.

Many posts on Quora are simply fake, and I'm not talking about bitcoin only. I didn't even open the link you posted but it's clear that there is behind the same person, I mean let's be serious, who runs a legit business only using an app like Telegram? Unfortunately I am sure that there are many people that somehow will fall for this type of scam.

This isn't a new scam or hacking method, actually. They target frustrated newbies to scam their funds. Very smart scammers will convince newbies and force them to believe them. We shouldn't trust random people on the internet anyway when it's related to fund management. We have seen many people on the forum scam second-timers this way. However, we should learn more about Bitcoin to prevent these types of scams. So we can realise why we shouldn't trust this type of fund recovery service. Usually, scammers post about their fake hacking story or losing story. Then they comment themselves about recovery services. That's how other individuals interact with them.

Not a new scam but certainly something that works, after all they wouldn't reuse the same formula over and over again just as with the Nigerian Prince email if this didn't work to some people. They target unwitting people, (well not necessarily target but send this by bulk and hope that in the pool of people they sent this to one of which is stupid enough to believe their lies) and from there the scam would roll on its own. While I'm preyu confident that a lot of us here aren't that easily fooled by emails and messages, I still believe that some of us may fall for scams like these, especially those that fell victim to other scams and hackings and are desperate to get their money back. I suggest you quit at it so as to not cause further damage to yourself and to the people around you, and just work towards earning back your keep. It's easier said than done I know, but there's not much else that you can do at this point really.

i'm furious with the story that's in the OP, every day we are always faced with fraudsters on the internet, they will never know anything before they get a fat victim.  always verify new things that we encounter, if there are difficulties, don't trust anyone 100%, especially if they ask for a private key or password.  Fraudsters will always disguise themselves as good people, so you yourself must maintain the security of your personal wallet, don't let your carelessness cause you to lose all the bitcoin you have.

Yes learning in the hard way is what has been at play when it comes to issues like this, and most especially newbies are the worst hit by this class of scammers since it is a planned game, why should anyone believe that you can get money off the scammer and what happens if the scammer has already converted that money and withdrawn it through his back using p2p, this is a big mess and can't be recovered.

So when I see such threads from newbies seeking to recover their stolen bitcoin, I used to laugh out loud since I already know that that is an unrealistic move and would not end well.

Even if you are in direct contact with the person who owns that address, it is difficult to prove ownership of it. Scammers usually use fake identities and fake accounts to make it easier for them to easily escape with the money later. Since most countries in the world do not regulate the crypto transactions sector, filing lawsuits will have no significant benefit, especially since it is not easy to prove the facts.
Although I constantly read about successful scam attempts, I am amazed at the victims who lose huge amounts of 12,000 Bitcoins. The value of these assets may exceed the budgets of some countries, and despite that, I can only say that their owners are very reckless and lack the basics of dealing on the Internet.

Unfortunately, when you are frustrated, you click on these answers, try codes, or communicate with scammers, so thank you for this reminder.

This is a factor that people often overlook when it comes to judging others for their mistakes. People often say that those who misstep are stupid or uneducated, but people in severe emotional states could easily lose their critical thinking and caution. That's why scammers often prey on those who are most vulnerable.

To counter this people need to have action plans for emergencies, and make preparations for emergencies before they happen so that if the time comes, they just execute it without having to make decisions. In Bitcoin this means asking yourself "what would I do if I lose my backup?".

Most of the new experiences and newbies are the ones who get scammed in a trick like this. We can't deny that sometimes people have problems losing BTC due to their lack of knowledge like what could be the factor that caused the loss of their Bitcoin, so once they searched online or even asked for help on some platform, this kind of thread would show up. Due to hoping they could resolve their problem, they would literally try to communicate with the scammers, not knowing that some of the people who also commented that he was legit, giving some fake proof are also the same person. You can't blame someone for trying anything in trying to recover their losses, since they are emotional which is actually normal especially if you don't expect things like that, but it would be better to find a reliable source that can support claims that Bitcoin could be retrieved cause there are some fake links and sites existing online, but of course, it would be impossible to retrieve Bitcoin once you loss it.

Never trust strangers on the internet because there are many scammers out there who try to trick you in various ways even if it offers recovery by sharing their contacts and experiences when we know they are making up stories for their lies.

As others have said if you have been deceived in a bitcoin transaction then there is no way of recovery except for the awareness of the wallet owner who received it, but it is rather impossible that he will return it unless you have to be willing to lose btc due to your own mistakes.

Not only that, there are many cases on the internet about fraud, including inviting you to invest in ponzi schemes, offering help on telegrams, or you are introduced to an unfamiliar platform and then get a code to activate and get a number of BTC if you want to withdraw you have to deposit then this is clearly a scam.

Just realize for beginners, never be fooled, you have to be careful with unknown people on Telegram because that's where a lot of scams are roaming.

I don't really understand how people can trust random people on forums to contact them on WhatsApp or Telegram. But sadly it's still happening. I suppose internet security should be taught at schools at least. I don't really know how to teach older people about that.

I saw something on Quora that worried me. Someone said that he lost 1200 BTC to scammers. Then, I saw some people sharing/claiming to be experts in recovering lost bitcoin. They shared their contact details like Telegram IDs and WhatsApp numbers.

This question: https://www.quora.com/I-just-lost-1200-BTC-to-scammers-now-How-can-I-recover-my-BTC-back
scroll to see more answers like these.

This make sense and thanks for sharing it, though I'm totally aware how to avoid getting scammed, but the most common place for people who has lost their crypto or even having issues is the internet. So, if people see things like this, it will most certainly looks like it's a genuine transactions but they aren't, it's a way of luring people who encountered the same issues. Scammers are really innovating and getting more creative over time. This is one way for the scammers for the victims to come to them instead of them trying to reach out on their potential victims.
One thing to remember when dealing with strangers over the internet especially when you're desperate on the issues you're facing, is never to share any of your financial information like keys, password, and anything that's confidential.

One thing to remember when dealing with strangers over the internet especially when you're desperate on the issues you're facing, is never to share any of your financial information like keys, password, and anything that's confidential.
A stranger who sends you a personal message first is a flag and you have to be more careful with any chat with that stranger.

Be very careful with links, documents, files sent to you by any stranger. They can be phishing links, malicious files. Prevention by avoid clicking on links, not download those files is best.

If a stranger asks for sensitive information: personal documents, information, account passwords, seed phrases, private keys, money. You have to refuse to do it, ignore and block that stranger as soon as possible.

That's a common style of scammers , we have seen that here in bitcointalk though different claims but
almost same approach that OP will create a thread and His SHill accounts and pretending to be different person so the tactics are the same
as how you explain this and yes I never gonna fall from those.
I don't really understand how people can trust random people on forums to contact them on WhatsApp or Telegram. But sadly it's still happening. I suppose internet security should be taught at schools at least. I don't really know how to teach older people about that.
You cannot deny from people that has desperate mind to fall from this, specially when you find no
place to claim your funds and you are crying for help and yes there was these random people offering you subjective help?
I think it will be the perfect target from them .

First of all, the question itself is suspicious. Why? Because there is no context on how the creator of the question lost his bitcoin, I think the intention of the post or question is to promote something. Just like the OP said, he sees a lot of answers that give Telegram groups or other platform groups that say they can recover a lost bitcoin, which is a bit suspicious. How can they recover the bitcoin without the concept of how it was lost to begin with? And I'm sure those groups will not do that for free, so they will charge for their service, but what if it's also part of their plan?

I don't want to judge, but the question itself is lacking in information. At least provide a context on how the bitcoin is gone. Anyway, that's right, don't just click and join other groups on other platforms; it can be malware or a trap, so better be careful. For instance, if you really lost your bitcoin without an idea of how it happens, then create a report to the platform where your bitcoin is stored. If you lost your bitcoin because of your doings, like sending it to the wrong address, then it's entirely your fault, and as you know, bitcoin transactions are irreversible.

Online information should not be taken at all about things that involve the risk of your assets being stolen. The second most important thing is that you should never give your private keys to any unknown person, but you should not give your information to anyone except yourself. Scammers also provide fake websites on Google, which are often easy for newbies to fall into.

Newbies should always seek help from someone close to them instead of online help, so that they don't face scams. Anyway you have provided good information and newbies should always try to keep their assets safe by following such information, because of lack of experience, often new people face more such problems.

The growing number of such scams is disturbing yet unsurprising. Bitcoin's decentralization empowers but also allows exploitation. Scammers thrive because no central authority can intervene or reverse transactions. The situation you described - a supposed victim offering help with recovery -sounds like a classic scam set-up. They exploit victimized people's desperation and hope. The deceitful cycle traps innocent people into more losses. Quora is not a platform for legitimate recovery services. They're regulated, transparent, and don’t solicit via private messages. Would someone turn to Quora if they lost 1200 BTC? Unlikely. Its a pretend problem to inspire empathy and trust. Avoid informal experts who ask for secret keys or information. When in doubt, consult credible sources. In the crypto world, skepticism is your ally.

Exactly OP , you are 100% right, there is no way to recover these coins. Any individual who claiming that he will recover the lost fund are using this trick to hack others. They using this trick in a way that intermediate level users may also become victim. Newbie should be very careful in Crypto field.

I also experienced this type of issue when my multi chain wallet hacked and hacker used auto bot for sending automatic fee token(Eth and bnb). I searched google for this solution because some token worth 120$ was available in my wallet. I found some videos where Youtuber claimed that he can recovered and given telegram contact in the description. I contacted there and he ask for pre fund. I requested many times that I will gives when he success but he was not agreeing. That time I was newbie but luckily I didn't send payment and later I know that it is just game. if they can recover then why they will not send tokens to own wallet after recovering.

So, if you are new to all this, be careful. Don't trust random people claiming to be experts on Quora or anywhere else. They might just be trying to get your private information.

This question: https://www.quora.com/I-just-lost-1200-BTC-to-scammers-now-How-can-I-recover-my-BTC-back
scroll to see more answers like these.

It's true that don't easily trust unknown people who claim to be experts, because there have been many cases where victims gave their personal information and in the end they lost even more. So, if you encounter a problem, it's best to ask someone who understands better, for example someone close to you or someone who understands cryptocurrency directly or through forums. Don't immediately look for a solution by contacting someone who claims to be an expert because they are just a scammer.

This scenario reminds me of telegram channels. They would add you without your knowledge and there would be scripted chats on the channel using bots. The scenario would be most related to how the admin helped them as in the bots in making good amount of Bitcoin through an investment of $100.

They always use the same method and but the scenario changes in different scams. Here they used a recovery service which is practically impossible to do.

Think simply, no one is nice and kind enough to spend time online looking for ways to help people without receiving any benefits. There's no such thing as a free lunch, so it's best to never waste time with strangers online. If we have a problem and don't know what to do, we should seek help from a reputable organization or an expert in that field. Don't seek help from strangers and think that someone will be willing to help for free. In particular, spaces like the internet are many times more fraudulent than the real world.

Good advice and thanks for sharing, there are creepy people online this days pretending to be a victim of scam and they will lie about getting their justice back by offering people names and details on the social media and if you are once a victim you will likely the a second victim to scam too.

The truth can be very bitter with crypto if you don't know how to do your own research before making a step, once you lost your Bitcoin one way or the other its never going to get recovered, if you like hire the best computer gurus there is no way to get it back.

Forget the lost BTC and learn from your mistake, finding ways to recover what you're lost will expose you to new threats, and buckle up you will lose more money than you've lost before, they have done it before and they will keep doing it to innocent people that don't know how to do their own research.

Yes, it's a natural scene in telegram channels that's why I don't usually use telegram, only if needed. A stranger just suddenly offers free money, services, investments, tutorials on how to make money in trading/mining, and such then requires you to send them money. There are also personal messages you can receive from a stranger offering assistance, requiring you to click a certain link and provide the information they need.
This is something that should be disregarded by everyone. It's clearly a scam and no one is nice enough to offer money to anyone without anything in return.

1200 BTC is 44 million dollars. I highly doubt that someone, who lost 44 million dollars would use Quora to ask questions about how to recover them. Grin
My advise to newcomers is to always stay cautious, don't trust anyone and do your own research.

I don't really understand how people can trust random people on forums to contact them on WhatsApp or Telegram. But sadly it's still happening. I suppose internet security should be taught at schools at least. I don't really know how to teach older people about that.
If you think about it, it's not only about bitcoin: how many people send money to strangers after a phone call because they actually believe whatever lie they've been told? Or people meeting other people online, they never meet in real life, and yet they send money over money to some stranger. Oftentimes the people involved could be old, naive, alone, many different life situations that bring them do to something that other people would never do.

I saw something on Quora that worried me. Someone said that he lost 1200 BTC to scammers. Then, I saw some people sharing/claiming to be experts in recovering lost bitcoin. They shared their contact details like Telegram IDs and WhatsApp numbers.

Don’t be surprised that the person who claims to have lost bitcoin is also part of the scammer’s team, it’s just a strategy to defraud people. They know a lot of people have lost their bitcoin, and when newbies see things like this, they will be very desperate to get their bitcoin back, but they don’t know that in the process of trying to recover your lost bitcoin, you will end up losing more money. Scammers might ask you to send some certain amount of money before they will be able to track the bitcoin, and immediately you send them the money, then they will be blocking you instantly. After making the first payment, some might still be giving excuses just to get more money from you before they finally decide to block you when they notice that you are no longer giving them anything. You will lose your bitcoin, and you will lose the money you sent for them to help you get back your bitcoin.

We all should have it in mind that bitcoin sent can’t be recovered if your transaction have been confirmed. If the bitcoin was sent to an exchange, the best thing you can do is report the wallet address on the exchange where the bitcoin was sent, but if it’s not sent to an exchange, I don’t think you can do anything about it. You shouldn’t allow scammers to scam you, don’t add to your loss.

This is the reason why people who know nothing about btc or cryptocurrency in general gets the idea that this is all but a scam but it’s just recklessness that gets people to this point

WhatsApp is also an app where scammers are abundant and especially in Quora

remember that bitcoin is decentralized there’s absolutely no reason for you to share any information about your wallet to anyone else let’s all be responsible holders of btc and be responsible in taking information from the internet as well

But to attract people's attention, scammers will always find ways to highlight their themes and stories. And losing 1200BTC will really get people's attention, but the story will be even more compelling when there is an account claiming to be an expert and can help them get those bitcoins back. It can be seen that scammers' tricks are becoming increasingly sophisticated and newbies can easily fall into this trap. This is an interesting topic and a wake-up call for newbies.

The thread would have best suited in beginners & Help because newcomers are more in that section. Then let come to the content. Op what you have said is very correct. This is how internet scammers do to scam people. Sometimes there many in the room so as one person call or drop and others also drop different information nd recommendation and those who don't know anything will call the contact thinking that the person they contact is a good person. And if you call one person in that place they will give the phone to one another making the thing more real.

This kind scam is not a new thing to me, I know their tactics so it will be hard for them to scam me. One thing is that if you are not greedy to be rich over night then it will be hard for them to scam.

This case of course makes the person feel hopeless so that when he is offered the answer to his problem he thinks it is help even though in reality it is not. I agree with you that these scammers try to exploit deeper to get their victims trapped in the hole of their game. Any offer would be useless because the Bitcoins he holds are pure and only he can control them. if you lose access, it means risk and don't involve other people to help you. Bottom line, don't trust anyone who tries to access your Bitcoins, even if the goal is for recovery, etc.

I saw something on Quora that worried me. Someone said that he lost 1200 BTC to scammers. Then, I saw some people sharing/claiming to be experts in recovering lost bitcoin. They shared their contact details like Telegram IDs and WhatsApp numbers.

It undoubtedly has many members falling into a fraudulent circle. If someone has created such a group to recover lost bitcoins then it is definitely nothing but a scam. However, in the case of all the members who have contacted them through their own contact or ID, they should not give their identification or information. Many times fraudsters commit crimes by stealing their own documentsThere could be bigger problems. Therefore, never give identity or verification information to fraudsters. Especially the private key of the wallet or the security system should be completely avoided because no honest or real organization or circle will ever ask anyone to give any genuine document file.

The fact that it will help to recover 1200 bitcoins is a bit doubtful, to be honest. Why? In the history of such issues until now, has there been news that, after being scammed for a large amount of money, someone was kind enough to help recover the lost amount of money?

Nothing like that has ever happened, and until now, it still hasn't. Then that 1200 btc, who can do that? Aren't they just millionaires, especially with the value that Bitcoin has today?

Online information should not be taken at all about things that involve the risk of your assets being stolen. The second most important thing is that you should never give your private keys to any unknown person, but you should not give your information to anyone except yourself. Scammers also provide fake websites on Google, which are often easy for newbies to fall into.

Newbies should always seek help from someone close to them instead of online help, so that they don't face scams. Anyway you have provided good information and newbies should always try to keep their assets safe by following such information, because of lack of experience, often new people face more such problems.

When it comes to bitcoin and public and private keys, it is never good to give them, under any type, the circumstances can be many but you should not leave any type of things like that, first what they can put in any forum is and can be very false to see those who can scam, no one under any type of criteria can ask you for your private keys, much less lose 1200BTC, and then say that you will not recover them, I think that is very false, the fact that they tell it like that, It already seems false to me, it's something that doesn't fit into my brain, I see it as very weak from any context, it's something that doesn't fit into human logic, because it doesn't fit.

I got the message of Quora 1200 BTC scam story in my email box, infact I took my time to read the some of the replies which most of them look similar, majority of those replies shared same stories of losing different amount of USDT and Bitcoin, one of them was even saying one of his friend who was an FBI agent helped him to recover his stolen fund and other similar stories, I truly agreed that this is a well perfected setup to lure people who had genuinely lost some coin into a trap either by promising to assist them in retrieving their coins whereas they have some ulterior motives to scam because from those replies some of them are requesting for Dms, this is a red flag except for unsuspecting victims who might fall for these scam.

Same thought that comes to my mind when I see people seeking for help desperately after losing their coins, especially on social media from total strangers they know nothing about. This will only make you vulnerable and expose you to more danger and severe pain because at this point,  you are emotionally down and can do anything to get help. Note this, if you lose your coin(s), it is gone and cannot be reversed except in few cases where you are close to the supposed beneficiary.

Sometimes there many in the room so as one person call or drop and others also drop different information nd recommendation and those who don't know anything will call the contact thinking that the person they contact is a good person. And if you call one person in that place they will give the phone to one another making the thing more real.

They are in some sort of chain network, working hard to convince their latest prey that whatever help or business they are offering is genuine, if you are not smart enough to avoid them, they'll feast on your funds.

In this current age where everyone is vigilant,  where news about scammers and their mode of operations have spread round like wild fire, no one is supposed to fall victim to these scammers. Avoid strangers by all means, especially those ones that offer unsolicited help and juicy offers.

One of the basic ways to con people, you create a problem and then somehow there's people out there that wants to help you out. I am 60% sure that it's a scam because that's a possibility but the it will only go to a 100 if I can see that the person who has posted their problem show a proof that they've got a problem and that there's really an issue and that someone was able to solve the issue and so far I am not happy with what I am seeing, I am like that one American Dad meme where he's looking at the meter to see if it crossed the line.

In this current age where everyone is vigilant,  where news about scammers and their mode of operations have spread round like wild fire, no one is supposed to fall victim to these scammers. Avoid strangers by all means, especially those ones that offer unsolicited help and juicy offers.
I am really happy that there's more and more people becoming more vigilant and aware of different types of scams, this kind of thing happening results in these scams losing their influence over many people because now a lot of people are already asking questions and the scammers aren't prepared to answer any of them, they got too complacent about their method that they didn't expect them to ask questions so they haven't prepared any answers. I wouldn't say that I'm a good person but when a stranger asks me for help, I always try my best to help out knowing that there's a possibility that it's a prelude or their way into introducing me to a scheme but I know that when I do that, the possibility of scam is likely so don't try what I do because you might not realize it sometimes that you're already being scammed.

Direct contact I mean is when you have been constantly been transacting the address one mistakenly send the bitcoin at this point he could write to the owner. Just like a topic I came across here in the forum someone mistakenly send btc to another user here and he post his mistakes the person who received the bitcoin retuned it back to the original owner. But believe me or not if it was now I don't think such person would come to refund back the BTC to sender, still while sending BTC we should be very mindful with the way we transfer them or like our security aspect we should be more stronger.

We are here talking about a huge sum estimated at 12,000 bitcoins, and not about an ordinary transfer that was sent by mistake to an address whose owner you know.  I can bet that anyone who receives this amount will return it to its owner, even if he knows him.
It is not the same when we talk about a successful scam, as the sender did not send Bitcoin by mistake and was expecting profits from what he was doing.  Personally, I do not remember that a similar case occurred on the forum, especially with amounts of this size.
Just verifying the receiving address is not enough in such cases, and it would have been better to ask about the nature of the whole matter before deciding to send.

Howwwww?

You made me laugh. Elon Musk seems to be keeping a lot of people like your friend awake. And the whole reason is that people are simply uneducated. Lack of information, stupid stay on social networks, where scammers multiply nowadays and publish all sorts of nonsense about quick profits, completely taking away the last grains of the brain from stupid people. It's very funny to see those unfortunate people who hoped to become millionaires with three simple clicks on a link.
In truth, as long as people believe that Bitcoin can be hacked or money can be returned, fraud will continue to develop.

op Thank you very much for your very important post. There are many of us who live in the fantasy world that if Bitcoin is ever lost it will  be recovered. In this regard, anyone who says that bitcoin is lost, I will return it is 100% cheating on you. So we have to be careful not to fall into the trap of their deception. People who are familiar with Bitcoin and know well about Bitcoin will never be fooled by this scam. Especially this scam is more likely to happen with newbies so newbies should be careful.

The biggest mistake we often make is that we start asking everywhere whether it will be Quora or any other social media platform for help in such a situation but we even don't realize that the scammer was also present on the same platform, they keep an eye on such discussion platform to hunt a new person. When we ask a question a scammer comes and provides solutions but you can not use that solution and that's part of their tactics. After some discussion, you tend to take help and he asks for some personal info. He can't restore your lost Bitcoin but he can steal the remaining funds. We bringing this situation by our stupidity. We need to realize that no one can restore your lost BTC without yourself so instead of asking a stranger think of the phrase or key of your wallet.

Don't trust too much because most likely it's just a nonsense, it will only restore your faith and hope but without real evidence, in my opinion there is no other way that can restore the amount of bitcoin you have lost unless you find your secret or private key. And if there are some people who provide other ways besides that then honestly for me personally I will not believe them.

This is really absurd, so maybe you are no longer strange with some advice that comes reminding you to keep your private key as well as possible, I think it is a strong enough reason because on the other hand it is almost impossible for them to recover something that has been lost in their accumulation, just think of it as a very valuable lesson.

This question: https://www.quora.com/I-just-lost-1200-BTC-to-scammers-now-How-can-I-recover-my-BTC-back

I think no one is going to take this whole thing seriously because basically,  the whole thing is a set up and a game and we all need to be wiser that that right now, and also having 1200 bitcoins in the hands of a scammers and wanting to get them out is almost an impossible thing, and anyone that promises to offer such services to recover the list Bitcoin is a hacker and at that you need to be careful and must not deal with them if it is online but if he is willing to get the Bitcoin out for your first and you pay him from the recovered bitcoins.

Scamming has been rampant online so we have to be more cautious not to fall for it in every way possible.  Even myself has been receiving random messages from strangers online, and the best action for them is to never mind them at all. Keep ignoring all their messages and links being shared to you, they will get tired in the end and vanish. Never open attachments or click on links if the sender is a total stranger, otherwise your private information might be tracked.

Know all the red flags online. Be aware that if they can't get you or make you fall in their trap, they will find other means just to scam you. So be smarter than those scammers and never stop educating yourself because being knowledgeable is a great weapon not to be scammed.

Something similar happens on YouTube too, here you will come across comments saying, I made this much money listening to this financial experts and there will be details to contact them.
This is the most common lines online, most especially in youtube and facebook. If you can be easily lured by their most convincing and powerful words, they will certainly put you in their trap. Such common words used online, but still a lot of people most especially for beginners who have nothing but greed are still falling on them. Know that if they are really successful and profitable with their business online, they will not invite various people anymore and just keep their secrets all by theirselves.

This is a clear proof that everything you see or hear in the social media may not be true and can't be trusted. So always analyze the given offers carefully, and never easily bite them. And once they start to ask for money, just block them immediately, they're real scammers that we need to avoid.

Lol. This is just one their ways. To tell you more, Quora is not the only place.they operate, they flood every social media that engage in crypto discussion. I think Quora might even be better compare to X, just go under Binance or CZ tweets, your will be surprised by the number of crazy tweets you will see with impersonation and all they are doing is to lock a victim and drain him or her wallets address.

Some of the famous ways they disguise are:
  • claiming to be official support of wallets, most often than not, you will see atleast 10 different account impersonating Trust wallet account with emails, all Gmails with different contacts.
  • They even go ahead to get accounts verify just to show you that they are real person to help you but the hardly get eveb more than 20 followers.
I don't blame sometimes, I blame X and Elon musk for not asking more when they want to be verified or do more check on this scammers before they give them th blue tick but they love the revenue more than they care about their customers. It's better to stay guided against this scammers.

Google has the answers and solutions to almost everything. I believe many people would one way or the other ask Google how to recover wrong-sent Bitcoin to scammers and they want to recover it back.

many con answers will be given to them on how to do that on Google, with the hope they will recover their bitcoin without actually knowing that someone can't do it no matter how technologically wise the person can be able in aspect to trace the transaction without the scammer revealing his identity on exchange. Even, if a person reveals his identity on exchange, it can still be impossible for someone to recover their Bitcoin unless the government steps into it by using the identity the scammer used on sending the stolen bitcoin to an exchange.

I know that, the people who can request such help from people posing themselves to recover Bitcoin are mostly newbies because a knowledgeable person who knows about the basics of bitcoin can't ask for such help because he or she actually knows that a loss of bitcoin is lost forever without a trace

That's it; then I haven't witnessed that after being sent to an address that shouldn't be there, you'll still be able to recover it; no one has actually done that. Whoever did that didn't even bother to double-check if the address to be sent to was correct or not.

It doesn't matter if the amount of bitcoin to be released is only a small amount; I don't know, and I'm not sure what I'm thinking, so it's just a made-up story. If I'm the one with that amount, of course I'll do everything carefully, even if it's slow, as long as I can make sure that my bitcoin can be transferred to the address location it is going to. Then, in a flash, it turns out that the wrong address was put, so the number one person who is wrong is me, who knows the address, because I am aware that once it is sent, it will definitely be recovered unless the address that was sent is someone else that I know who is the owner.

I have found these fake stories and responses from these scammers abundantly on YouTube videos, platform X, Quora, and many other platforms, especially in cases related to stealing a significant amount of funds from a platform after being hacked by hackers. You find the scammers' comments plentifully, trying to deceive individuals who have been scammed or had their funds stolen, pretending that they can help them recover their stolen assets by contacting them through one of the communication methods or through the phishing domain link they send to these victims to recover their lost funds. Therefore, I completely agree that no one should trust strangers in the crypto field, seek help from them, disclose the amount of Bitcoin they hold, or believe everything written on these blogging platforms or social media and others.

Whenever I see people sharing their contact so you can privately message them, I take my mind off it cause that’s the step one that shows it’s a big scam and lie. And yes, it’s possible that the question is only a scheme for them to plant those numbers so people who search for how to recover their Bitcoin may fall into the trap. One of the ways to know what response is valid is by checking the number of likes (tho you must note that people can buy likes anyway).

Yes, there are many ways that scammers can use the trick to steal their Bitcoin and wealth. And sadly, many people believe that it is a true story and try to solve the problem. As we know, The scammer can easily provide false evidence by taking the fake Bitcoin address on Explorer, so that proves, many people in Quora believe the story is true, and maybe out there someone is sorry and gives the donate to him, or if there is easily influenced, they will contact that number to solve the same problem, but of course, he would be trapped in a hole who was made by the scammer.

What makes us lose Bitcoin is our own fault and we need to be able to fix it if we no longer want to experience losing the Bitcoin we have, I agree with that, we cannot trust anyone who claims they can recover the loss of Bitcoin we have and if we choose to believe in them we will certainly suffer losses.
It is very important to be able to secure the Bitcoin wallet that we have because we will not know people who have malicious intentions towards the assets we own and we should not easily trust everyone who wants to help us recover the amount of Bitcoin that we have lost.

Remember that once bitcoin is lost, it may be considered lost forever. Even those well known big investors have been a losing a lot of bitcoin and until now they can still hardly retrieve it or redeem their lost bitcoins. So never expect that these random individuals who claimed that they are good and experience bitcoin analysts could easily fix the issue. It could be the other way around, you trust them and you lost even more.

I would say research is the key. Its not that you would do your diligence to research on how to redeem your lost bitcoin, but definitely on how to secure the safety and security of your bitcoin while you store it in your wallet. Go for an offline wallet, that way the risk of losing your bitcoin from online scammers could be lessen if not stopped.
Investors who have been participating in the market for a long time and have experience will know this is a scam. But the problem is that these scammers, the people they target, are all newbies, naive people, who easily believe what they see. This type of scam does not directly target people who are losing bitcoin and are looking for help. These scammers are targeting newbies looking for help like the OP said. Newbies often have the habit of looking to experts to find a formula to make money quickly, so they easily fall into this trap.

I saw something on Quora that worried me. Someone said that he lost 1200 BTC to scammers. Then, I saw some people sharing/claiming to be experts in recovering lost bitcoin. They shared their contact details like Telegram IDs and WhatsApp numbers.

A month ago I also met someone in the local airdrop community and it seemed like he was a beginner who had just invested in bitcoin and asked for help from fellow members to recover the bitcoin in his wallet because he no longer had access and he said he was willing to pay a large amount if there was who can recover their bitcoins, but fortunately several admins in the community immediately warn that no one can recover lost bitcoins, either due to loss of private keys or due to hacking.
My advice is always to educate and direct them if we encounter newbies who complain about the same thing because it could result in their privacy data being leaked and could be exploited by fraudsters.

This question: https://www.quora.com/I-just-lost-1200-BTC-to-scammers-now-How-can-I-recover-my-BTC-back
scroll to see more answers like these.
This is an old format that scammers use with the intention of gaining the trust of their victim before scamning them. I usually see it in Facebook and how this work is that they will hack several Facebook accounts, then use one account to make the proposal then several accounts to share testimony of successes... same person or group of persons controlling all the hacked accounts. If you are not smart, they might convinced you into thinking that it was a genuine offer only to find out when they are done with you.

Their targets is usually to steal your money or sensitive information and where that did no lt work, they will attempt to hack your account.  Like you said, trusting random people offering help in the internet is dangerous.

I am surprised that many people still don't know about this format, because it doesn't take long after doing my research on Bitcoin for the first time that I get to know of this trick, I lost my recovery seed and the wallet contain few BTC so I shared the story online through twitter, I started getting DM about how I can recover the recovery seed to my wallet, I just knew its impossible but I decided to see where it leads.

The person connect me to another stranger for the recovery but I believe I am still talking to the same person, and he told me to pay some amount of BTC first that after the recovery I will pay the balance, I knew the first payment is their ticket to get out and run with my money.

I opened up to them why it's impossible to help someone recover their lost seeds, and the scammer end up blocking me, I laughed about it because he felt the pain of me not falling victim to his plan after several discussions together.

I don't see how anyone should be a victim to this, because you already know what a recovery seed or private key is, once you lost it there is no way to get it back, it's foolishness of you to get scammed twice in a roll.

I've already had this technique in mind.

Let's say John claims to have lost Bitcoin, alleging he was scammed. Then, this John uses another Quora account, offering recovery services and providing a contact name. Typically, fake reviews are added by John to boost the reputation of his posts offering BTC recovery services. Actually, no one really loses Bitcoin, and there's no genuine service for this. John just aims to gather sensitive data from his victims by manipulating the reviews given to himself.

It's an old strategy, and I've been suspicious from the start. For those unfamiliar with this tactic, be cautious when seeking help from strangers. The online world isn't just filled with good people... there are still many with malicious intent who want to seize assets by any means.

The majority of scams happening in crypto space is because of peoples lack of knowledge, how can someone promise to get your lost Bitcoin back for you? How? With a magic wand or what? People believe in stupid things easily when they are desperate to get answers.

If you understand bitcoin wallet very well you should know that once you lost your private key it's over, there is nothing in the world that can get your Bitcoin back for you, no machine or even an alien can do it, that's why you need to handle your wallet backup like it's all that matters to you.

This method is oldish but sadly people still fall for it till this day, and that's because some new people are joining crypto everyday, they have no clue about the dangers that awaits them on almost everywhere online.

That's what the OP is saying and wants to warn people about, this trick is nothing new and nothing strange to those with experience in the market. Because no one has enough time to go on social media to seek help when they have lost millions of dollars in bitcoin. In that situation, going directly to a specialist and even asking the police to intervene is something we would definitely do.

There are no good people in the internet world, let alone a few bad people. To be honest, I have not seen anyone in this market who intends to help others without asking for any benefits.

It is old but still effective in a way that many people still fall into it and give trust to someone who claimed themselves that they can recover lost Bitcoin while the fact is that, it was the same person  - the one who lost BTC and the one who recovered it.
Of course, anyone can be attracted to such (fake) transactions plus several positive replies and showing successful recovery. Yes, we all never know their trick and they played it well in order to see it real. Those desperate people who lost their Bitcoin will probably join this and lose more.

From personal experience, I think Google is the last place to seek help when having challenges in the crypto space, because you may get misleading links that could harm you or expose you to so much harm.

I don't recommend Google search, this forum BTT is idea for crypto related issues and those in need can seek assistance here, not on Google.

Such fools operate in this forum too advertising their services blatantly and act as if they are the real deal when literally everyone can see right through their facade. This isn't really a big issue since extremely few people fall prey to such scams.

What's way more annoying and threatening are actually phishing links which look like the real site in almost every way.

I read the answers to this question and a lot of the answers tickled me and made me smile because in the end even if it's true about losing their bitcoins to fraud but there are still people who do take advantage of this for their own benefit and this is really crazy and proof that life is hard.
But on the other hand this can also be used as a promotional event and make it appear as if they lost bitcoin so that they can promote their merchandise indirectly by claiming they can return the bitcoin lost due to fraud so that when someone has the same problem they can immediately look for the information listed and actually make the person who lost even more loses.

But when looking at some other answers it is still fortunate that there are people who are still good by giving good answers such as

Correct . There are a lot of scams nowadays, be more alert in getting to know people in this virtual world, don't easily trust strangers you just met,  Sometimes even the closest people often cheat, especially strangers

I saw something on Quora that worried me. Someone said that he lost 1200 BTC to scammers. Then, I saw some people sharing/claiming to be experts in recovering lost bitcoin. They shared their contact details like Telegram IDs and WhatsApp numbers.

The person sharing does details might end up been scammed again, the chances of getting their money back is low and does
Asking the victim so details. I hope is not one of their schemes, for some one to loose does amount of Bitcoin is something that is very painful fallen another trap will just break him.

You have point maybe the victim was the one that gave out is details because I don't think they would have gotten access to his wallet without him, and scammers are trickier than we expect, maybe the victim was given option of him investing on platforms to make more profit and once they have gotten the details they need the next thing is to move does funds.

The clear statement of not your keys not your coin and aside the advice in this community their is nothing he can do to get does bitcoin back and I fear some of them claiming that they lost there bitcoin in their wallet i feel some of them are scammers them self and looking for ways to break into another person's wallet, is something people can do when it involves money.

I love the fact that he was cleared about impossibility of getting the bitcoin back so if it is real story or not, and have your data or privacy bridge is dangerous even that can give them access to your bank account.

Correct . There are a lot of scams nowadays, be more alert in getting to know people in this virtual world, don't easily trust strangers you just met,  Sometimes even the closest people often cheat, especially strangers
The phishing attacks rate are now become rampant, people need to be extremely careful with the links they click on the internet. This attackers are working tirelessly to improve their system making it more real and convincing for people to fall for their trap thereby capitalize on their potential victim. It’s sadden that people fall for this trick, all the money they work so hard for gone in split second. What most people fail to understand is that crypto is a very safe space and you’re entitled to your own privacy and private key, it’s almost impossible for someone to guess your private key, unless you allow it.
We should be vigilant and aware of this attackers, whenever we surfing the internet because this attackers have a way of sugar coating things so that people can fall for their tricks, if you’re confuse about how to go about a particular problem we have YouTube videos that can help us tackle the problem.

Why we are not much interested in fiat money is because with fiat money I am not safe to be accountable for it but if we talk about bitcoin it is completely independent. But we have to remember that as it is independent the responsibility to control it for every individual. If I fail to secure my wallet I will be held responsible. I can never be safe if I entrust my wealth to someone else. Moreover, if the person whom I trust today fails to keep my trust, I will be likely to be deceived. So I don't want to take that kind of risk.

Those people are everywhere in fact they have came up with same fake made up stories on this forum many times where they claimed that they have lost their Bitcoin wallet or they can't recover their Bitcoin wallet which they have made during 2011 or some past dates when mining of Bitcoin was easy and any miner could get Bitcoin easily by mining it. Many people of the forum tried to help them because you know guys at our forum are very helpful. Fortunately everyone who's part of this forum is well aware of such scammers and that's why I always recommend everyone to register at this forum and read some threads here before starting their Bitcoin journey.

Now, the worst they can do is to use same stories on social media sites and with their other alt accounts they pretend to be the experts of Bitcoin recovery. I think it's better to promote awareness against such users and I think you have made a good thread by sharing awareness against such scammers. Only education and awareness can help someone to be protected from such scammers.

I have even seen some recovery guys who promoted their services via social media sites like YouTube, they pretended to be the gurus of Bitcoin recovery and they made videos in so entertaining ways that many people might have trusted them with their own lost Bitcoin recovery after watching those videos. I believe we all as a community have to promote awareness against such people because the users who trust such people might end up loosing their last hope of recovering their lost Bitcoin.

scroll to see more answers like these.

Is it true that it really happened that I lost 1200 BTC? Is there a txid link that really lost 1200 btc? I don't think I saw anything. If I read the comments on Quora, it's just a story, and even if there is a source link, it seems like the same, but I didn't see anything to prove that I was able to send 100 btc, 10 000 btc, or 20 000 btc; it's just digits.

Then, if there are any such suspicious things, and if we are the ones who lost assets, whether bitcoin or cryptocurrency, let's not entertain strangers with us so that we don't become victims of exploitative scammers.

How is losing 2 or 3 litecoin hilarious?
For 2 litecoins, that's over $140 dollars at the moment, for 3 litecoins, that over $200 at the moment, this amounts of money are really big for most persons, especially those in the middle and low class in terms of financial status.

But anyways, I read your comment again, I did understand why this loss was hilarious, I want to believe it's because 6 years ago when this lose happened, litecoin was probably not as expensive as it is today, so 2 to 3 litecoins were worth almost nothing at that time.

But right now, I trust you will regret it so much if you lose that same amount of litecoin at the moment, so it's very important to always guide ourselves, we are our best security, so as to avoid losing money that may seem worthless today, but could worth alot in the near future.

Usually, newcomers get in trouble for trusting someone. With their scope of experience in the crypto market, they will though that these people who proclaim themselves as expert are true because most of these scammers used known sites and names that really a newbie got caught their attention. This will emphasize how important for us newcomers to spend more on searching the site and not fall easily into someone who offers good services which is too good to be true as it usually turns into a scam.

Many people has learned a lot from those that fell victims to scammers, because they want to help them to recover their money that showed confirmed in the transaction. I know, newbies always seek for help when there is no help in the public that will make them to regret such decision in the hands of scammers. Do everything possible within your capacity to keep all your personal details secure and safe, because without your personal details nobody can have access to your coins in your wallet but the moment you release the coins from your wallet to the exchange market and confirmed transaction successful, show that the money is gone. Don't trust anybody in the exchange market or in the Bitcointalk forum, and if anyone is chatting with you to apply for any Free coins in the social media, please run away for such group of people before they will lead you to frustration.

Desperation makes people unable to think with correct logic because actually any form of fraud can be detected, but unfortunately, the hope of getting their money back can make them unable to think properly, and also fraudsters will always use different methods to make their movements difficult to detect by people who are desperate, agree with you that fraudsters will become rich people without having to sell services like that because they can use them themselves, so it's the same as people who sell e-books on how to make consistent profits in trading for only a few bucks because he knows it is impossible to make consistent profits in trading and it is easier to make money from selling the e-book.

The first and most important step is to educate yourself about the various types of scams that are out there, such as phishing, Ponzi schemes, and pump-and-dump schemes. It's also important to use common sense when evaluating an investment opportunity, and never invest more than you can afford to lose. Additionally, newcomers to cryptocurrency should be especially wary of anyone offering to "help" them with their investments or offering "guaranteed" returns. Finally, it's always a good idea to use a trusted wallet to store your cryptocurrency, and to enable two-factor authentication for extra security.....

One of the most popular ways to store cryptocurrency is with a mobile wallet, which can be downloaded as an app on your smartphone. Mobile wallets are convenient because they allow you to access your cryptocurrency on the go, and they often have additional security features such as fingerprint authentication. However, it's important to be aware that mobile wallets are not as secure as hardware wallets, and you should never store large amounts of cryptocurrency in a mobile wallet....

Some people are not really open when it comes to this case. It may be different for you or for some people, but most newbies can easily trust the people who offer them help in this kind of situation. Hoping to have a solution for their current problem such as recovering a wallet which is important to newbies if it has a valuable coin.

In truth, as long as people believe that Bitcoin can be hacked or money can be returned, fraud will continue to develop.

I couldn't agree more with you Sir. Illiteracy, mediocrity and greed sure do comes with a price. If there's one thing I've learned about knowledge is that, you can either acquire it the easy peasy way or the hard way, the choice is entirely yours, easy way is when you sort for it, study and do researches, ask experienced people to transfer knowledge to you, and the hard way is when you act out of greed and stupidity and then loose money to scammers or a shit project and then you learn your lesson from it, either ways, you learn, so it's up t everyone to choose which way they wish to learn.

At first what's with quora, Everytime they have solutions to multiple problems and the annoying part is people are allowed to share fake information and fake opinion on matters. have seen similar stories like this on the internet and people making comments, referring different kinds of people some making comments on how to recover the wallet, that's what you get when you share your problems on social media. Most people who believe all this information and give out there private informations to scammers I don't blame them cause in this case that involves loosing money, it hurts and at that point the person feels fustrated any little opportunity the victim sees I think that person will not hesitate to make amends. Just like the fiat system, bank workers will collide with scammers to scam customers trying to get useful information from them and bank staffs will still be the one to solve the problem, but when it comes to crypto there's no solution to this kind problem.

I saw something on Quora that worried me. Someone said that he lost 1200 BTC to scammers. Then, I saw some people sharing/claiming to be experts in recovering lost bitcoin. They shared their contact details like Telegram IDs and WhatsApp numbers.

This question: https://www.quora.com/I-just-lost-1200-BTC-to-scammers-now-How-can-I-recover-my-BTC-back
scroll to see more answers like these.

It's really a very large amount, but how can someone who has more than a thousand bitcoins be fooled so easily? People who have that many bitcoins should have greater knowledge about bitcoins and also bitcoin wallets, or maybe it's a wallet that he has long forgotten (Sorry I didn't read the entire contents of the article). in this world there are many tricks that are used by fraudsters to trick their targets, therefore I will never share my personal wallet data with other people even though I cannot access my wallet again, it is better for me to create a competition and for those who can open my wallet, I will immediately give you a few percent, always remember "it's no longer your bitcoin, if you give your key"

BIG WINNER!
