Actually the reason for this is, since Bitcoin of he first crypto coin, not all altcoins can be bought directly. For you to buy them, you first need to buy bitcoin and then swap to those altcoins. And before you can sell them, you still need to swap to bitcoin before you can sell. So its more like Bitcoin is the intermediary of those coin. So when the price of Bitcoin increase they also increase and when Bitcoin decrease they decrease, any trend Bitcoin takes they follow. However from my point of view of things, it seems they will experience the bull run with Bitcoin. Change is constant, anything can happen anytime so just be prepared for anything that might come.

this used to be the case back in 2016, 2017 until 2019. but now Stablecoin has taken over that spot from bitcoin. you don't need to buy bitcoin to buy altcoins anymore. u need to buy stablecoins first to buy any altcoin. you can still buy Bitcoin directly without buying any stablecoins. so Bitcoin is still strong in that manner.
Nowadays thanks to large p2p exchanges such as Binance, you can even buy a lot of different altcoins directly from people all over the world.

thats right, stablecoin replaced that intermediary, basically the reason why stablecoin has grown so much that china willing to ban it.
because people all over the world are using it because its just that convenient also no need to worry about volatility if you try to hold off from investing its really convenient these days.
even back then though i think people are buying altcoin directly using fiat, but represented as digital fiat in many exchanges right now with the presence of stablecoins that are integrated directly in the blockchain

Indeed, we should spend our money wisely by conducting proper research on coins before buying them, so that we are sure not to buy any scam projects. But I must say that, research alone isn't a sure guarantee that you would be buying a legit coin. Left for me alone, I'll suggest we just go into Bitcoin adoption now, since more than 70% of altcoin are following it tends. And besides the halving is this year and might surprise us any time since no one can actually predict the exact date for the halving. And after the halving comes the bull run, and the hype of this year bull run is believed that Bitcoin will hit a new ATH up to $100k.

Of course, we can't but what we are currently experiencing we believe is a sign of possible Bullrun. It could be right or wrong but judging on the current situation and even comparing it to the previous years, the market sentiment still moving in the same direction almost the same. Well, a year could fly so fast, so I guess it's still safe to say that we are almost there. We are all aware that it is not at the prior halving where bitcoin and altcoin had an insane pump or the month after, but it usually took several months before the huge bull run occur. We are almost in the next halving, just more than a couple of months and after that it should be the most anticipated bullrun. Bitcoin price will always have an effect on majority of the altcoins, if you're planning to stack more of your bags, better do it right now because again we are almost there.

January is the best time to buy more in my opinion btc is not halving yet and etf is not approved yet when both of the news come out I do believe this will be fire and altcoin might reach the new all time high

Recently there was some bullish movement observed around Bitcoin and that could be seen as a possible reason most of the altcoins had a bull movement recently, its well known that most of the Altcoins follow after Bitcoin movement and so they sometimes double up in the what ever direction Bitcoin goes, I'd bit coin moves upward by 2% some of these Altcoins make almost 10% movement in same direction if not even more sometimes they even do same when there's a bearish movement aswell, they even have worse Case as the do more negative than Bitcoin does.

Summarily Bitcoin has the total direction that's been followed by othe Altcoins so there's not a bull run for altcoins outside that which wasn't first initiated on Bitcoin, every slight move in Bitcoin may appear like a Bull run to some Altcoins.

SOL is almost unbelievable. I thought it would stop and be dumped at $60, I sold the few I had been holding and then continued to go up. There are few others but it's SOL that is going massive. It's not unusual because BTC is also going higher, the only unusual is that they are just a few altcoins and the popular ones are not going up, ETH is not rising along with BTC.

The thing is that, normally if bitcoin appreciates in price, this event should affect alternative coins because at this point bitcoin will be very high and many investor has already have a comfortable amount of Bitcoin in their custody and the next move will be diversification which will directly affect the price of this coins drastically, this why no matter how skeptical many of us is about altcoins and shitcoins people will always be tempted to invest in them this time because of their potentials upsurge, let's not forget that altcoins was created because Bitcoin was very high some investors though strategy were put in place to accommodate many investors but many of them prefer large profit and that has been the case.

OP, it is not a new trend. Altcoin has been increasing significantly whenever bitcoin starts increasing. Even though this thread is kinda of old to reply but I think still relevant to discuss about the bull market for the altcoins projects. About one month ago we saw a good rally in some altcoin projects with a huge pump to their price and has returned a good profit to the investors but after some time these projects started to lose their price value. even that was not the bull market but people enjoyed a lot these pumps.

on the other hand, I noticed good pumps in most of the altcoin $near also gained about $3 dollars more to its value within 24 hours and it is now currently trading $5 point something on binance exchange. It is just the beginning of the bull market and I hope the market will show its original face to the investors in the form of bull season after the halving event. what do you think about that? Before that, we have to get ready with our profit booking strategy so that we may not lose any good specific points. In my opinion, we should do DCA for booking the profits as well in this way we can get a good amount of profit. DYOR

The current market is very difficult to predict. This cycle is different from the previous cycle. I think altcoins will follow the Bitcoin bull run. Altcoins will follow because the king of cryptocurrencies is Bitcoin. Keep in mind this is just my personal opinion. Correct me if I'm wrong.
