Do you ever feel like that being after saving or investing for future you forget to live in the present? You don't buy the things you want to or don't go after experiences you want because you'd rather save/invest for future instead.

That actually happens occasionally. Just before saving or investing, I used to budget what my saving or investment was mean for, after investment or saving, they would be unnecessary for me to spend my money on again. I shouldn't waste my money because sometimes things don't go as planned. The future is very important, so it's better to save or invest for the future instead, if the money was spend now, I used to think that things will be expenses than this in the future because of the country am living. I have really experienced this a lot. It will be very discouraging to spend money on expenses and i cannot enjoy the future. I regularly think that the future is very important. It is the reason why i was saving and investing. Although I don't generally forget them, I don't always buy what I intended to before, ignoring some need for the Future.

Imaginary future affected me for almost 3 years untill I came to understand life as a very simple place to live in as much as you are okay with your streams of income. People gets into problems because they wants much million without working towards it. Million does not come easily but a drop of penny continuously makes someone financially rich and stable.

In my country, a lot of young ages go into scamming while they forget that richness does not necessarily come out of that, they end up been addicted to drugs and squander all on luxurious things and go broke again. All their life revolve around drugs and alcohol because they don't know how hard is it to make money. ofcourse "waste it all" is not part of any plan. but neither is "save it all"
ofcourse you should allow your wealth to accrue more via financial planning. but you should also include a smaller set budget for todays life activities
if you set budgets for vacations. hobbies and a small budget for "F**k You money" where by you dont care what you spend it on. you stop feeling guilty about spending it, because its in the planned budget

It's always advisible to invest for the future but we also have to try and enjoy the present. There's a difference when you can't enjoy the present with the money you make because you have too many responsibilities and when you can't enjoy the present because you're saving for the future. I think, Sure, life “experiences” are necessary, but the future is important. I am not a selfish person who only lives and spends for myself. Each person will have their own family and it is your responsibility to save and build for the future. Some people I meet have the mentality of being satisfied with what they have and don't need to think about the future. That makes them always think "satisfied" and "excited" in the present.

Yes. It is evident that having fun isn’t compulsory tied to financial status. If we look at Africa, it is commons to see pictures of really happy kids, they are always smiling, dancing, playing games, and having their fun. Some little things that most of us overlook could be fun only if we are able to perceive it to be so.

Btw, your statement “investment does not stop luxury” kind of sounds contradictory (to me). I think so because I don’t believe that you can be actively investing and be actively spending luxuriously. Just focus on present first because if you live unhealthy present and suffer from different types of stress due to lack of money but are in hurry to make your future better then it does not sound suitable. This is the influence of friends' environment and this is where the importance of minimal, most basic education from the family. If it is considered trivial if the child is out late at night and we don't ask or even follow his movements/activities then don't expect it. I think investing is one of the best ways to reach good goals in a person's life. When you plan an investment for the long term and hold on to its success, you must give up small gains. That's something very intimately linked to personality. There are very impulsive people who aren't capable of saving the most basic percentage of their income just in case, and those who find it difficult to waste in nonsense the money they got thanks to their hard work.

My two best friends are like that: one cannot resist the temptation (whatever it is) and the other one doesn't even have a coffee when we hang out together. So, knowing well the two extremes, I'm well aware that the virtue is in the balance, like Aristotle would've said.

One should save for the future while he's got the tailwind, but not to the extent to sacrifice the present for a future that we take for granted but is not sure.
